One of my favourite HK cafes in the city. My family and I always end up here when we want cha chaan teng, bc they usually have the best options. I love their iced lemon tea (sweet just how I like it. Could be too sweet for some people). I also love their bolognese, and I usually order it for take out. The portion is huge and it's enough for two meals. Prices have gone up a bit since Covid, and I think they also changed owners recently so it's not the same as it used to be but it's still good. They accept card and cash

If you're looking for a Hong Kong-style breakfast, this is a must-visit place! The French toast and satay beef noodles are flavorful and definitely worth a try. The breakfast set is very reasonably priced, and the service is great.

Very nice and friendly service on a Friday evening. No wait for a table as well at around 6:30 pm. The food is similar to other hk style cafes, but their milk tea is actually really good.

We came here for lunch as I have been craving a HK style dish that I haven't had in a very long time: baked ox tongue with tomato sauce over rice. We also ordered baked Portuguese chicken, and a bowl of noodle soup. After a short wait that was less than 10 minutes, we were seated at a booth. A complimentary cup of tea or water is included. The service was fast, and efficient. New City has different menu specials for breakfast, lunch, or tea time (2:30pm to 6pm). We liked that a choice of soy milk, hot lemon water or HK tea was included with the meal combos that were all reasonably priced from $13 to $14.50 each. You can choose to start with either a borscht or cream soup for the baked specials. The portions were also pretty good as we had to pack up some of the chicken and noodle soup to go. We will definitely be back and with friends and family next time to try the sizzling plate set as well as other specials.

Classic spot. Been coming here for a long time with my family. Always (almost) get the mixed steak sizzling plate meal 鐵板雜扒餐 (I want a bit of everything). Chose the cream soup to pair - comforting primer before the colossal main. Plate came with fries, carrots, sausage, sliced ham, bacon, chicken wings, steak, pork chop. Black pepper sauce always hits. Everything was so juicy and fresh. Spaced out my bites with white rice in between. HoT HK milk tea and ice cream were the perfect conclusion to this homey meal. Dad got the Portuguese beef brisket with spaghetti. His usual. Flavourful but borders more on curry. Waiting for the next time I come!

Google
I made a mistake to order what’s called salted baked chicken (鹽焗雞), you can tell the chicken been made for a long time and it has NO taste at all, you are chewing rubber no matter how much ginger and scallion sauce you added. Same as the Portuguese chicken, the sauce is normal but the meat not fresh at all. And and don’t order the cream soup unless you like corn starch. I’ve been to this restaurant a few times in the past, always wondered why they’re so busy, food only mediocre, nothing special

* Under New Management* Very Friendly Staff. Came here with my parents to try out their breakfast. We are very impressed with the customer service provided by the employees here as the previous owner and staff treated customers very badly. They are one of the best team of servers among the HK style cafe in GTA. The portion of the food are very reasonable (as shown in the pics) and very tasty as well. $$$ are very reasonable too. Gotta try it yourself and I would definitely come back with my friends and family :)

Google
沙爹牛肉米 came very hot which is very good. But the flavour was a bit bland which needs improvement. HK Milk Tea was very flavourful and rich in black tea flavour. Edit Nov 5 2023: 沙爹牛肉米 still not much flavour. Milk tea is still pretty good, and dishes weren't too expensive. Edit April 2025: ok price.

Yelp
This is such a fun Hong Kong style diner! There was a bit of wait when we got there a little before 9, but it wasn't too long. The atmosphere is super lively, and it makes me feel less self conscious with kids. It was really enjoyable since we didn't have to shush them or worry about them being too loud and bothering other patrons. Everything you order comes with a drink I think! We ordered to share but got the milk tea and horlick for our kids to share. The milk tea has such good body! And you add sugar to your tastes. Horlick is such a fun drink -- a malty milk...it kind of has this roasted rice flavor to it that adds this depth and richness while being sweet. It's really good! What we got: - HK style french toast with peanut butter This was just ok to me. A bit too heavy and greasy for me. I think as a dessert I would've appreciated it more than first thing in the morning. Too rich on an empty stomach. But I can definitely see why people like it. - Toast with condensed milk Classic, but for a reason. It's so tasty. The bread was thick and light and fluffy. Perfectly toasted. Our kid loved this so much. It's all she wanted. - Vermicelli soup with fish balls and meatballs This was so good. Clean broth. Light but satisfying. Our child ate this so well. She loved it. - Ham and egg with macaroni soup My husband ordered this and it was so nostalgic for him. He loved it. The soup was so tasty. And the ham was such a nice springy texture and not too salty. And paired with the scrambled egg was perfect.

Yelp
Another HK cafe in Markham, which means its a must try. The restaurant is just like any other HK cafe in the area, minimally decorated. Fast paced. Hopefully good food. Fried Chicken thigh with fries - First off the chicken was massive. Skin was hella crispy and bubbly. But inorder to achieve that, the chicken was overcooked. Like the ends of the chicken was getting dry, like thai deep fried pork belly dry... On top of that the chicken lacked seasoning, almost no seasoning at all... And for these two reasons, I cannot recommend this. Fries were crispy though. Milk tea was okay. Not enough tea flavour.

Yelp
If you know what's up with HK cafes, you know this is the spot. Amidst all of the new "fusion" cafes, it has been quite discouraging to try as they don't hold up even a decent quality on top of a high price tag. But new city...they're the GOAT and they know as long as their food is good, they don't need any gimmicks to keep customers coming back. I've had a plethora of menu items from here but my go to is the guilin rice noodles and baked dishes. their french toast is also killer with PB in the middle but don't say I didn't warn you if you feel your coronary arteries start occluding. PSA : cash or debit only!!

Yelp
Went for their afternoon tea (from 230 to 600). Got their hk style toast. It came with a big slab of butter on top. We cut it up a bit to help speed up the melting process. Comes with the no name syrup. It wasn't crispy but not soggy either. The afternoon tea version comes with peanut butter, but it looks like they have salted egg yolk or coconut on their regular menu. I didn't get as much peanut butter flavor as I would have liked, likely because the bread slices were pretty thick. The milk tea tasted a little salty. Not as much tea flavour. Might order their soya milk next time. Restaurant looks relatively modern inside and felt clean.

Yelp
Ok, I have not been to New City for a while. There has been a lot of new HK cafes in the area and this place stills holds a sacred first place in my heart. I went recently and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the prices were consistent with other places. There has not been a single food item I've ordered and was upset. Everything is good! The baked rice is legendary. The fried noodles are crispy. The curry was just the way I remember it; sweet and spicy, and savory. Overall, this is still the OG, the best.

Yelp
My go-to place for simple, quick cha chan tang breakfast. Restaurant is always packed in the morning but I never have to wait long in line for a table. Staff are always friendly and very attentive. What I love most about this restaurant is that I can substitute their combos with something else without extra cost and without attitude from the staff. For example, I could change their pre-fixed menu from bacon to hot dog, and scrambled eggs to sunny side up.

Yelp
Quick eats lots of selection. HK cafe most items come with a drink. Serve is quick. Ambiance is simple Sizzling hotplate feast! 3 course meal Got the black pepper sauce. Comes with a soup starter the plate with spaghetti or rice and rice

Yelp
My favourite HK cafe in the area. Gets super packed busy during peak hours but their staff and service are very efficient!

Yelp
Very worth the price. It's a good amount of food that you can often get with soup and a drink! Here's what we ordered for our combos 1) Soups - Russian Borscht - Cream Soup 2) Mains A. Baked chicken w/ Cream Sauce $11.25 I. Baked Beef Brisket w/ Portuguese Sauce $11.99 3) Drinks - Cold Milk Tea - Read Bean Shaved Ice Very tight space, with several tables. Definitely good for small group or a couple. Servers are nice. Ours was so quick, I didn't even need to ask her for a takeout box, she just knew to bring me one - so good!

Yelp
My favourite Hong Kong style cafe in the area. They are definitely your typical no-nonsense Chinese restaurant and I love it. My favourites are the fish ball / beef innards noodle soup (ask for it with the brisket sauce!) as well as the baked salt chicken with rice. Their iced lemon tea is one of the best in the city. Closed Tuesdays. Afternoon tea menu runs from 2:30pm to 6pm.

Yelp
This restaurant has been here forever and is always busy. We came late on a weekday morning, and the restaurant was already almost full. For three adults and a baby, we ordered two bowls of noodles, a shrimp wonton, and a slice of toast. There was a choice of macaroni, vermicelli, spaghetti, rice noodles or instant noodles along with beef ball, fish ball, squid ball, fish slice, beef tendon and brisket, Chinese sausage and wonton. The second bowl of noodles came with luncheon meat, bacon, slices of ham, two fried eggs, sausage, and bbq pork. Each of the three meals came with a complimentary drink of coffee, tea, or soy milk. The prices are reasonable, except for the slice of toast; that was $2! Drinks arrive at the table first, and the food not too long after that. For those bringing young children, they only have booster seats (way too big for babies or toddlers) and no high chairs.

Yelp
Excellent food , good value for money. service was satisfactory for the type of restaurant. ambiance was expected for a HK style cafe

Yelp
I've been seeing this place on YouTube and wanted to give this place a try. According to one of the bloggers, this place is supposed to make the best baked pork chop. The restaurant is the cozy kind of small, with the walls being made of jade and the booths being made of wood. The booths line the walls and windows, while regular tables are placed in the middle. Modern silver chandeliers hang over the regular tables and ball-shaped lights dangle above the booths as well. We arrived right before the lunch rush and got immediately seated. Originally, we were seated at a booth by the door. I had to request a change because there was a fan blowing on us while we were sitting there. Daughter and hubs were sick and I didn't feel it would be wise to sit there and freeze in silence, especially with the cold weather that Canada was experiencing at the moment. The waitress changed our seats without question. I'm glad we did that because the tables were all occupied within minutes after we sat down. Hubs ordered the Rice Noodle/ "Guilin" style . Guilin style has minced pork, tomatoes, cilantro, sweet and sour preserved vegetables. It's served with any kind of noodle in soup. The noodle choices were macaroni, vermicelli, spaghetti, rice noodle, instant noodle). He ordered it with instant noodles. He absolutely loved it. It was nice and savory and it satiated his soupy noodles craving. It came along with a drink and he ordered coffee. Daughter ordered the Special Baked Meal E, which was Baked Beef with tomato sauce and rice lunch special. She ordered Russian Borscht and coffee. Her entree took a while to come out but we didn't mind as her blood sugar was a bit high. She was waiting for it to come down before she could eat. So, it was a blessing in disguise that it took a while to be made. My guess is that they forgot her order. Daughter loved her baked beef and thought it was soft. She loved the borscht and her coffee. Lastly, I had the Special Baked Meal F, which was Baked Pork Chop with spaghetti. I thought the pork chop was a bit overdone. It was ok. The pasta was ok. I ordered borscht and tea and loved them as well. Coffee and tea tasted great. It was nice and strong and we loved the cups it was served in. It hit the spot. I'm very glad we came here. I've been wanting to come here for a while and it didn't disappoint. Service was friendly and quick. I was very glad that we didn't feel rushed so that they can clear the table for people waiting. Feels like everything was laid back and I really liked that. I was worried that we would be rushed because daughter had to wait a bit to eat because of her blood sugar. But, my worries were for naught. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!

Yelp
Everyday I'm shuffling! After a 24hr power outage due to a chaotic storm, we were itching for hot comfort food. This led us from one city to another, landing us at New City Restaurant. This HK cafe was packed with diners inside. Always a good sign, and we lucked straight into a 2-person corner spot. A myriad of menu cards flashed across our eyes. I landed on the Garoupa Cutlet on Rice. Prior to the dish, we received the sweet & sour Russian borscht soup, a classic of such cafes. In a pleasant surprise, milk tea arrived in the esteemed KamCha cups. The fried fish cutlets arrived in a thick katsu batter accompanied by a bowl of black pepper sauce. This fulsome meal warmed the soul on the chilly day. The aptly named Bowl of Noodle caught my wife's eyes. Despite the plain description, it included everything from the chef's pantry (beef ball, fish ball, squid ball, fish slice, beef tendon & brisket, Chinese sausage, & wontons). The simple rice noodle soup tasted balanced with no complaints. It came with, and the dish was literally, her usual cup of tea. Update: we've also tried the Hot Plate Top Sirloin Steak with black pepper sauce. It's quite a massive plate with a sizzle and fries, cabbage & carrot underneath. The medium rare was slightly uneven. Baked Steak & Pork Chop w/ Tomato Sauce on top of spaghetti was creamy and came in a huge portion as well. New City Restaurant has old school flair. It was literally the busiest spot among the many food options at New Kennedy Square. Staff buzzed around at a hectic pace as patrons came & went. Fast food came streaming out of the kitchen. Along with an affordable menu, the friendly service is a nice hallmark of here.

Yelp
Under the new management, foods went downhill, tastes are bland, beef slices are chewy, fried flat rice noodle are mushy, portions were smaller. However, the milk tea and coffee remain good standard.
google avatar

Yelp
Good portions at good prices. Lot of meals come as combos so you get soup and drink as well. Lot of different menus focused on different kind of items, so there's quite a bit of options that should be able to cover your preferences. Good for groups or just dropping by for something quick.

Yelp
Authentic HK style restaurant. Delicious fried spaghetti with beef and their milk tea closely resembles HK. Very friendly staff with great service.

Yelp
This is the OG SPOT. I used to have breakfast here every saturday morning. I love how fluffy yet silky the egg sandwich are. The satay soup noodles are also really good. Honestly everything is good and the waitresses know you by name. It might be on the higher end in terms of price compared to other places but for the old school HK cafe feel and just childhood memories, I would come here from time to time

Yelp
Food is fantastic, Service is great , really fast , We come here every weekend, Price is ok .

Yelp
Large portions, tasty food, reasonable prices. I've ordered take out a few times during COVID and this time I tried their outdoor patio for a quick afternoon tea. Place your order and they'll bring you the bill to pay first. Food comes out pretty quick and fresh. One of my preferred go-to HK cafes.

Yelp
After 3 very long pandemic-affected years I was finally able to return to Toronto this past weekend, and I made plans to return to New City again since it had made an impression on me the last time I was in town. I was also able to try a bunch of other 茶餐廳s around Markham and Milliken so I had a better reference of taste this time around. I can say now confidently of all the places we tried over the weekend, New City definitely is the most faithful to HK-style taste. While other places may have had more daring fusion-y products or better locations/interiors, something about New City really hits the spot when it comes to grimy 茶餐廳 nostalgia, from the cramped seating to additional menu items hand-written and stuck on wall posters to the taste of the food itself. There was some wait time when I went around Saturday noontime but wasn't longer than 10 minutes or so. My party ordered two different types of soup noodles and I would characterize New Citys soup noodle flavors as light. Both the satay and beef brisket were well made and on the light side flavor wise and not too salty. This worked well for the brisket but fans of satay might want more kick out of a satay beef. Noodles were basic but the brisket was soft and of pleasant texture. I had the lunch set with a chicken steak and onion sauce; over the years I have had some heinous attempts at HK-style onion sauces in both Canada and the US and was relieved that New Citys onion sauce is pretty good, also hews to the light side a little. The milk tea was better than I remembered it, New Citys milk tea style is definitely on the milkier end of the spectrum, which works for me but the actual tea flavor won't be as pronounced for those who like a more "濃" style. No doubt that the pandemic and that I live in a part of the USA where Cantonese food is borderline nonexistent has amplified my longing for this type of cuisine, but whatever the reason, New City just tastes immensely satisfying to me and sends me down memory lane in a way other restaurants in the area didn't. Highly recommend to those looking for unfancy yet authentic 茶餐廳 taste.

Yelp
Ahh this is a true HK Cafe that I often go to for afternoon tea. I came here on a Saturday around 2:30PM and was lucky enough to get a table for 2. Usually it is packed and you would have to wait after you put your name on the wait list. My go to at this place is usually the hk milk tea or lemon tea. They have lots of options to choose from and all of them are super affordable. I ended up getting the ramen with spam and egg. The broth was warming and the dish tasted great. It came out super fast as well. I do recommend adding chili oil to this as it added a nice kick to the dish! Definitely will be back!

Amy P.

Yelp
Food is no longer tasteful after owner's change. Not recommended now. Also the prices raised after the change of owner. The vibes here also changed. It is no longer a cha chan tan vibe which Hongkongers should understand.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Good food but always have line up to get spot. The wait line is not too long. They get pretty busy every time. If you don't mind waiting in line.

Yelp
Been sitting on this review for a few years now but New city is definitely the most authentic HK style type of cuisine in the Markham/ GTA area. I have searched far and wide for the best HK style locations and I keep ending back at New city. My go to is the cutlet pork chop with gravy sauce with an ice cold hk style milk tea. I also love their french toast with peanut butter + honey for my sweet tooth. I have tried many other items such as their signature baked rice options and steak with rice. I will say though that their OG HK style dishes like instant noodles with ham & egg or luncheon may not appeal to some who are not accustomed to this type of cuisine as they will not blow your mind with incomparable flavours. New city is a Markham gem and may not blow you away but if you are looking for an authentic HK style cafe, they are a must try!
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
Always solid. Typical cafe but great food for great price. 12.99$ and you can get a meal with a drink and soup. I love the cream soup. Recommend the black pepper gravy on any of the meats and the honey baked chicken is so yum too! Comes with the egg fried rice
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Fans of this HK style cafe have flocked to this small, fast service restaurant for decades. I've come quite regularly for their iced tea, chicken wings, french toast and other traditional Hong Kong tea time standards. For me, their curry chicken is the best in the city. Their sweet and sour pork and Singapore style noodles are also incredible. The real main attraction for many is their cast-iron skillet steak, with black pepper sauce. It arrives steaming to your table. You should eat here. Take a number. Be patient and kind to the ladies in Orange polo shirts. Your experience may be enhanced if you speak Cantonese however they have made menus in English to be accommodating to all.

Yelp
Finally a HK cafe that still serves sizzling plate steaks! DECOR: 4/5 It's spacious and clean! It's FOOD: 4/5 The prices are on par with most HK cafes I think. They have a large menu, but they're scattered across a bunch of little specialized menus so it can get a little confusing. This is one of the few places (if not only) places left that still serve sizzling plate steaks. They were a lot more common when I was growing up but they seem to have gone extinct.. I ordered the mixed platter for $19.99 which came with steak, pork chop, 2 deep fried chicken wings, bacon, sausage, and ham. All on top of a bed of french fries (you can get spaghetti or rice too), drizzled with garlic sauce, and with some veggies mixed in there (cabbage and carrots). The platter combo also comes with garlic bread, a soup (cream or borscht), icecream, and a drink (I added a $1 for iced hk milk tea). THE VALUE! We also ordered a spaghetti bolognese meal and for $11.25, which also came with all of the above, except the icecream. They both tasted amazing. Albeit, a little greasy, but what do you expect when eating a sizzling plate steak? The steak was a little overdone, as it was at the very bottom of all the meats (closest to the hot plate). I remembered after that you can specify how well done you like your steak. She didn't ask us for our preference, but we could've probably asked it to be more rare. SERVICE: 4/5 The service was really good to us, I have no complaints. Some minor notes are that everyone at the table has to do the contact tracing form, and they only checked our vaccine receipt once we were already seated. We spoke to her exclusively in Cantonese, and the one time I didn't know what something was called in chinese and said it in English, she was confused. The other patrons were mostly Cantonese too. Anyways, happy to add this place to my usual food roster :) Definitely a must try if you haven't already.

Yelp
One of the most well-known HK style cafes in the Markham area. Note that they are normally closed on Tuesdays. Both take-out and dine-in are available and the owner is very friendly. Staff are generally very busy - helping dine-in customers, taking take-out orders on the phone, and processing payments for those that are picking up their food. It's a busy establishment but generally you don't need to wait too long to get a seat. I like their afternoon tea menu because it goes till 6pm (most places end by 5:30pm). Their chicken wings are nicely fried and it goes well with honey garlic sauce if you want to add it (extra cost). All items on the afternoon tea menu come with coffee/tea. The afternoon tea menu is available past 6pm but they charge an extra dollar. For their main menu, my favourite go-to order is the thin steak with gravy sauce on rice. It comes with soup of your choice and coffee/tea.

Yelp
Great make of noodles. Yummy lemon ice tea. Not a place for large groups. Went in with a friend for a cheap eat option. It took about 15 mins to get seated because they were very busy, but their turnover rate is very quick. It's a little hole-in-the-wall type of place. Got seated and ordered the rice noodle with meats option (fish ball, squid ball, beef ball, beef tendon and brisket, some other ones I forgot) and a lemon iced tea. It literally took less than 5 minutes to get the food. Everything was hot and tasty. The iced tea was delicious and sweet. I would totally go back there.

Yelp
If I can give zero star, I would!! I've been visiting this restaurant for so many years, from high school to now. My husband and I are very, very disappointed from our recent visit. COVID makes it tough for every business, everyone is trying to survive from this pandemic. But I really can't support them if their food quality goes down this badly. My husband ordered steak with gravy on rice. It is typical for every HK style cafe to at least have a nominal amount of vegetable to go with the meal, but they have now become very literal. Only has steak, gravy and rice. And there is proportionately too much rice. Drink is included, but it's an extremely small cup. Just slightly bigger than an expresso cup. I order hot lemon tea for my drink, and I can finish it in 3 sips. Oh dear!! Many restaurants have had to adjust to manage costs given less business, which I can understand. But they are cutting and scrimping on everything while others can keep their food quality and portions consistent. Guess I won't visit them again until the pandemic is over.

Yelp
I ordered some take out and after I paid, they asked me for more money. When the lady handed me the machine she clicked the tip function and handed me the machine to pay. Right away I entered $0.00 tip because it's take out. You don't tip for take out. After I handed her back the machine, she ask me for more money because she said she calculated the total wrong. I gave her a few dollars to to compensate the missing money. When I got home, I did the calculation and discovered the amount I paid was correct the first time around. There was no need to give her additional money. It was clearly because I didn't tip. It's take out. They didn't provide me with any service. No reason for me to tip. There food wasn't that good anymore after I discovered I got scammed.

Yelp
Haven't been back in awhile and recently got the chicken with spaghetti in cream sauce combo with honey lemon water and cream soup. For under $14, the portion was big and I was able to eat it for two meals. Food was tasty and delicious. Great choice for hi cafe dishes

Yelp
Another average HK restaurant amongst the plethora of restaurants available in the Toronto area. The menu selection is good but the resulting food is very average -- saucy but with no real complexity. The best item I tried was the curry, which has a HK style curry flavor (quite different from Thai and Japanese styles). The beef stew and potato combination was nice comfort food. The baked rice was a bit too saucy and the rice underneath really lacked any flavor and wok hay. Alright choice, but you can do better elsewhere.

Yelp
I've banned this place from my books a long time ago when I saw someone in the kitchen step in the serving table with their SHOES. I came back to see if they're any better because of the reno. Answer: nope. They changed some of their plates so they are no longer the cheap plastic ones your mom only uses to cut vegetables. However, their bowls are still the cheap plastic ones... The ones with a cartoon bear picture with some lame English phrase like "forever friends love". And what's even worse is that the colours have already faded, and the bottom of the bowl is grainy from wear and tear. The cups they used to serve tea was so old it was foggy. Nuff said. These plastic bowls are not meant to serve hot food, like the soup I was served because it came with my meal. The colours are probably toxic, or at least unsafe, for human consumption. You use these bowls for cold food like cereal? Ok. But not hot food! The shanghai noodles I ordered were super oily. After I took one bite, I felt very greasy. My mouth was coated in 3" of oil. Yuck. Ages ago, this place would fry their udon crispy and I'd recommend it to everyone. If you don't like gallons of oil, stay away from here. Finally, the portions were tiny. They don't even cover the bottom of the plate. Resounding no from me.

The Yum Report ..

Yelp
Longevity is probably the best word to describe this restaurant. Located in the plaza New Kennedy Square, New City Restaurant was once the go to for Hong Kong style rice/noodle dishes. With so many more restaurants nowadays to use as a comparison, the food at New City Restaurant is average at best. One major disappointment was their iced coffee, which tasted watered down. Despite the average score given, I will probably come back for nostalgic reasons. Guilin Style Noodle ($9.75) New City Signature Noodle ($9.75) Hot Milk Tea & Iced Coffee (+$1) Price Range: $9.75 - $23.99 IG: #The_Yum_Report

Yelp
Looking for an alternative for some good HK style breakfast instead of our usual go to places. Looked on Yelp and discovered New City that has good rating but somehow we never came across. Their breakfast menu has all the usual fare, plus the spam/ham macaroni broth with a side of ham and egg. So we ordered this combo with both scrambled and over-&-easy. Food was ready very quickly and we were so impressed that even with simple breakfast, they served the macaroni & broth in separate containers to not spoiled the macaroni. And the broth is some of the more flavorful ones I had around town, really authentic flavor. Feels so good and warm our stomach. Portion is great, macaroni with two decent size pieces of spam, two slices of ham and two eggs plus drink all for $7. You get more than your money worth for sure. Will be going back to try their dinner and lunch combo for sure !

Yelp
Another great HK bistro cafe place for some comfort food! My family and I typically come here for their high tea menu, which runs till 6 pm - a filling meal for a really good price. Our favorite choices are the HONEY GARLIC WINGS W/ FRIES, SATAY BEEF INSTANT NOODLES, and the STEAK W/ FRIES (or you can opt for potato salad instead!) This meal also comes with a beverage, my choice being a nice cold cup of soy milk. Food doesn't take long to come out, with exception of the chicken wings since they do take time to fry. However, they come out so crispy and piping hot that it is very much worth the wait! The restaurant is decently clean from a glance, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There's tons of parking for this large-size plaza too, so that's never a concern.

Yelp
I have been going to this place for years! Quality has always been consistent and service is not bad for the value. The afternoon tea specials are a great deal and is from 2:30 to 6 pm, which is later than most cafes. I love the honey garlic wings with fries and the baked spaghetti with cheese. Most meals come with a drink, I would recommend their cold lemon tea. They also have English translations on their menus, which makes it easier for ordering. Great value and comfort food keeps me coming back!

Yelp
I was in the neighbourhood and looked up things to eat and new city had one do the better reviews. I must have been here a million years ago before my yelp days (10 years ago!) as a kid because the place felt familiar. I was so happily surprised with the food, services and prices though! We came on a Thursday afternoon and the place is constantly at 90 percent capacity, I can't even imagine what it'll be like on a weekend. With a great parking spot that may be clouding my review, we got a booth seat immediately and the ladies there are quick to serve us but also patient because my mom and I were hmmi g and hawing at all the great choices. All the food was under 10 dollars with a drink included. My blackpepper pork chop rice even came with a soup! The food here is delicious, the soup for the Guilin noodle was one of the best broth ive had for this dish and we had to take a lot of it to go. But, again, for an HK cafe, the service here is incredible. I cannot believe I have not come here more often in the past.

Yelp
I used to love coming here for HK style breakfast/lunch. Its a smaller restaurant so we usually have to wait, even for a small group of 2-4 people. However, the wait is worth it because the food is very cheap and the service is really quick. They have most of the HK classics like french toast, macaroni in soup, satay, milk tea, etc. Would recommend this place for a quick and cheap HK brunch!

Yelp
4 stars Increased prices after renovations. Although the food is still good, it doesn't offer the same value as before

Yelp
Good decent HK style restaurant. Ordered a baked chicken in tomato sauce and a curry beef brisket rice. The baked rice is good but not like it's an extraordinary dish but I like it. However, the curry beef brisket wasn't too good; some pieces are kind of chewy and not soft. At Friday night there is quite a bit of people even it's at 8:30pm so you can visual how busy this place would be in earlier time. Overall, it's still one of the good HK style cafe in Markham.

Yelp
The service here is terrible. The ladies would pretend they don't see me. My daughter and I ordered the pork chop with tomato and cream sauce baked rice. This plate was terribly.l made. The pork chop had more FAT than meat. The fried rice was half steamed rice which they didn't even bother mixing it properly (clumps). The borsch soup was terrible! They gave a lot of white pepper seeds to us (I think they purposely dug the bottom up to give it to us). My daughter and I thought the white seeds were some kind of beans. So when she started eating it. It burnt her tongue. She's only 4 and I even thought it was hot. The lady asked if I wanted my egg sandwich toasted. I asked if she can toast it lightly. She replied in a very rude tone "it's either toasted or not toasted. I don't know what you are saying". The honey lemon water tasted like lemon water. I will not ever come back. It used to be better.

Yelp
This place is always packed, or has a long line-up, even when they keep increasing the prices, and the small selection of menu items never changed for years. That tells you a lot about a restaurant. It really doesn't matter much as long as food quality is consistant. My favourite afternoon tea place (good deal), especially the honey garlic chicken wings. It is the best in town. Their HK milk tea is made really well. Quality HK cafe food, great flavours, generous portion. Crowded seating. Good luck finding parking. Long wait most of the times. Extra charge for takeout containers. Quick service.

Yelp
"Cha chan teng", a staple in Chinese cultures that serves the best asian comfort food. In all the years that I have been here, I have never once seen this place empty. It's always busy during all hours, with peak times during high tea (3-6) because of the cheaper prices and dinner time. Their menus have a nice variety of comfort food from your choice of noodles/macaroni in soup with different proteins (spam, eggs, sausage, ham) to pork chops and much more! Dinner has options of baked rice/spaghetti options as well. It also comes with the typical HK style drinks and soups if the combo includes them. Service is always great here and the quality has not decreased at all during the years. The prices are always a good deal Because of covid, they have expanded their seating to the sidewalk and have added umbrellas to all the tables to shield you from the sun and rain which a nice gesture. Of course I'm gonna be back....like I have all these years.

Yelp
Had Brunch here with some friends. Was ok busy around 11am. Ordered a set meal that came with soup and a drink. Meal: Cream Soup Seemed a bit watery and hardly anything in the soup. Taste was good, but I bascially drank a watery cream broth. Lol Baked Ox Tongue Tomato Sauce with Rice Came in a medium shape oval casserole dish. Ox Tongue were thick cuts, but lack a bit of flavour. Tomato Sauce was good, a bit sweeter than usual for my taste. Rice was fried well. Hot Coffee and Milk Tea Mixed One of my friends wanted it to come last, so it won't get cold by the end of our meals. We waited for quite a bit of time. And apparently we had to place the order again. Did that and still took a long time to come. Tea and coffee was ok, a little to creamy for me.

Yelp
My family has been coming here before I was even born! Staff is nice, quick and know what they're doing - nice ladies. Everything is fairly reliable - we've hardly ever had a complaint. Everything always tastes the same.
