It's a classic staple of Revere, MA and highly popular for its unique charms. The New Deal has been a favorite for those looking for lunch and tasting one of their pristine subs for many years. While the quality of food is excellent, other factors such as service and price may contribute to one's waning enthusiasm for the New Deal.
The food is great as they do have the best subs around. The subs are quite large, however. They are by no means something one would eat for lunch. Also, for a sub shop, their catalog is quite pricey. An Italian sub is about $17 and most of their specialty subs are $20 or more so if you want to try something different, make sure to bring your wallet.
My biggest criticism of the New Deal, though, is their service. For example, I'd walk in, there'd be two or maybe three people standing there and I would just wait to even be acknowledged. Recently I was there and after 10 minutes of just waiting to be served I left--I wasn't going to spend another 20 minutes or so to get an Italian sub.
