"If you like your chaat extra-spicy, then this mom-and-pop food truck is for you. The most popular dish is the pani puri — a crispy, hollow puri stuffed with potatoes and chickpeas and filled with a mouthwateringly spicy, sweet, and tangy pani (water). Shove the whole thing into your mouth in one go for a blast of different textures and flavors. As an added bonus, the truck is stationed in the parking lot of a liquor store, so you can grab a cool drink to have with the heat-packed chaats. Open 4–9:30 p.m. There’s as open-air seating available, but be prepared for it to be filled with customers." - Hetal Vasavada

I had an amazing experience at New Delhi Chaat Food Truck on Homestead Road in Sunnyvale! I tried the Ragda Patty, and it was absolutely delicious—tasty, authentic, and had that perfect homestyle flavor. It truly reminded me of the street food from back home. The flavors were well-balanced, and the quality was excellent. If you're looking for authentic Indian chaat, this is the place to go. Highly recommend! 🌟👏

Google
All time favorite place for quick bite and chai ❤️ service is good. Menu options are great. Seating is available with heater, which is comfy and nice. I liked their chaats, curry and rice, curry and chapathi, vada pav, aloo paratha. happy to recommend this place. I keep going back😊

Google
It’s a food truck. They do have 2 tables on the side. The taste was ok for the things we took (dahi sev puri, masala puri and bhel puri) the sev was very hard, in-spite of requesting less Meeta the sev puri was filled with meeta. You have to pay in the liquor store and they prefer to take cash saying we get a discount. There is very little parking.

Update: Nothing is good anymore. Gobhi Manchurian's gobhi was not properly cooked. Pav bhaji ok ok. Chaat papdi ok ok. Not coming back anymore. Previous review: Complimentary tea. Seating available. Amazing, crunchy, spicy gobhi Manchurian. Update: Avoid the place during rush. We visited again and only samosa chaat was nice. Spring rolls were crunchy at the outermost layer but uncooked from inside. They were like frozen spring rolls fried at high temperature. Even gobhi Manchurian was not up to standards this time! Though Gobhi pieces were well cooked, it was just a dry fry with onions and bell peppers; there was no sauce. I always visit this place for its pav bhaji and gobhi Manchurian. They really messed up their recipes/cooking this time.

Came here because I wanted to try the Bangalore Masala Puri that I used to be addicted to 😭 Looks like I can’t find it anywhere else except here. Some of the things I tried here - ✨ Bangalore Masala Puri - It isn’t the OG, don’t know why they gave me a big green chilli with it 🙈 Needs more Puri and thin Sev, but I’ll take it over no Masala Puri (didn’t find it back in Seattle either) I’d give it 3/5 stars. 🌱 ✨ Dahi Sev Puri - It’s better than most of the Dahi Puri I’ve had in the past in the USA. I’d give it a 4.5/5! 🌮 ✨ Mango Lassi - It wasn’t the best, needs more sugar and Dahi used to make it has a weird taste. It’s a 3/5. 🥭 ✨ Masala Tea - LOVE THIS! They gave it as a complimentary to us, but it tastes very authentic 💖 ☕️ They did have plenty of parking spots open, some limited spots to sit in the background! Friendly girl at the counter too! ✨ Ps- They have a 5% discount if you pay in cash. 💕

I ordered a separate 16oz boxes of Rajma and Rice and both were 3/4 of the box. On top of it, Rajma had more liquid curry than actual rajma. When I complained, girl on the phone was rude and unapologetic. Perhaps my last order here.

Google
The people who run this food truck are nice and the food comes out quickly but it really misses the spot on flavor. We ordered the chole bhatura and the chole was just so bland and had no depth to the flavor. The dahi papdi chaat was better but not a standout.

Meghna N.

Yelp
Veg / Vegan review. Loved it! Both the Bhel puri and the Bangalore Masala puri were 5/5. (Ask them for extra dry puri for the Bangalore masala puri)

Arpit J.

Yelp
Fresh food, Great portion sizes, Amazing service, Great place for authentic parathas.

Roshan R.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place and I really wanted to like it. However had a horrible experience. First visit: Ordered Chole Bhatura and Dahi Bhalla chaat. The chaat was decent but chole Bhatura made me vomit within the next 30 minutes. I literally had to speed home. The quantity was huge. Two very big Bhaturas and I was very excited. Had one and boxed the other. Had it the next day like an idiot and was immediately affected with diarrhea. Second visit: Ordered mulli paratha as a friend suggested that parathas are their specialty. It was insanely salty and inedible. Again, good quantity. Two huge parathas but inedible. Their complimentary chai is pretty good! The food truck staff is friendly. And service was pretty quick. Not more than 20 minutes wait time. We have to order at the food truck and pay at the adjacent liquor store which is a little weird. The seating is kinda nice in a cozy tent outside.

Yelp
We were craving for some indian chats and we found this food truck on yelp and on reviewing the menu to my surprise I found Bangalore masala puri and Kachori chat. Decided to give it a try. Both are my favorite especially the bangalore style masala puri since it is not so common. The masala was made from green peas rather than chickpea which is common everywhere here. The taste was very good with a little twist in flavor and I must say it's definitely one of the best masala puri I have tried here in the US. Kachori chat was made with potato masala and it flavorful and tasty. The Kachori was crispy and the filling was in abundance. Also, they offered complimentary masala tea for all customers. I personally like tea to be a bit more thick and milky but I must say it was hot, fresh and flavorful. The food truck was clean and they have a few benches and tables outside. We definitely enjoyed the food and we will come back for more!

Vaishnavi A.

Yelp
We ordered sev puri and Kachori chat. The flavour of sev poori was good. But, the contents are a little cold, just like they were brought right out of the refrigerator. The kachori chat was hot and tasted amazing. The menu is elaborate and we got complimentary chai which was really good and complimented the cold weather outdoors. This is a good truck with loads of space for parking and seating as they are the owners of a nearby store as well. The cutlery used is non-compostable. Compostable cutlery would've made the place a lot bet

Diana L.

Yelp
Amazing bang for buck! I ordered the samosas chaat, gobi paratha, and a dinner plate which was enough food for 2 people for 2 meals (4 large servings). Everything was delicious and I loved that they gave a big portion of the yogurt sauce (raita) to pair with everything.

Sankit G.

Yelp
I think this place makes pretty good North Indian dishes - like chole bhature. The street snacks like dahi poori, papdi chaat, etc are good as well, but they lack a twist in taste, maybe if it could be a bit spicy, had some chaat masala then it'd taste even better. My pav bhaji tasted well, but next time I'd recommend adding some more chili to it, to up it another level. Similar with Dal Makhani and chole. The service is pretty slow but the staff is very nice. We had ordered one dish with no onion and no garlic and we found some onions in the dish so the staff was nice enough to even replace the bhature with chole instead of just chole. Next time I come I'd want to try their parathas with dal makhani.

Avni W.

Yelp
Food was great and was fast. Paneer pakora especially was very yummy. Paneer was very soft and wasn't too big portions which made it a lot easier to eat.

Anika B.

Yelp
My favorite chaat place in the bay. Great pani puri, great chole bature, great parantha, and rasmalai. When anyone comes from India we bring them here. It's not the most ambient, but the food is so good it doesn't matter.

Neha G.

Yelp
I haven't had the food yet, but this way of ordering food itself set my expectation low. I went inside the gas station for payment ( as indicated by lady on food truck) and asked the price of Gobi paratha, he said 8.50, ok I asked again, he said the same. I told him then can you check the total and now he says it's 9.50 I know the 1 dollar isn't that important but it's about the trust, and asking any price. First of all 5 dollar paratha itself is expensive from a food truck, on the top of that, this behavior. I tried ordering online as well, but please check the screenshot here ( I understand this is not in control of restaurant, but the price is atleast what you could match) Updating the food here: food is pathetic, I suffered through stomach pain that whole night. Definitely will never try again!

Divya K.

Yelp
Actual Indian street food in Sunnyvale! This food truck has a variety of Indian snacks at more than reasonable prices. I tried the aloo chaat and it was pretty good, I do think the the potatoes could have been more crispier though. All other items were pretty good. You place your order at the food truck and pay inside the liquor store next door. There's some outdoor seating in the back. We were also offered complimentary chai as we waited. Great stop to get Indian vegetarian snacks for the evening.

Yelp
A true hidden gem in one of the corners on Homestead Rd right opposite to the Kaiser hospital. You could easily drive by only if you didn't have the intentions to eat some good Delhi style Chaat cuisine. Convenient parking to park your ride, walkover to the truck and place your order, grab the receipt and walkover to the store next door to do the payment. That's all that is needed and they get into action in preparing the street style Chaat cuisine. We happened to order the Chole paapdi chaat, bhel poori, pav bhaji and aloo paratha ( they serve 2 big parathas in one order) for the two of us. Nothing was left to waste and even the last bit of morsel was scraped off the plates. Definitely recommend their food and yeah if I forgot to mention the good old chai ( tea with milk) is complimentary and you could go gulping down as many as you would like, to your heart's content. Simply love the place and only complaint that I would ever have is if the order is large it takes a good amount of time for them to prepare it but I guess it's well worth the wait.. Definitely recommend paying them a visit for a good hearty meal!!!

Yelp
I was excited to see masala puri and drove all the way to get my hands on it, we ordered the masala puri, channa samosa and gulab jamun. The food itself took sometime to arrive given how quickly usually these carts turn out food, the samosa chaat was decent, the masala puri was better, little less on salt not as great as I imagined in my head but a tasty pass off, the gulab jamun was served hot, I don't know how they did it, warmed it up or the jeera was still hot, overall a decent place for chaat but not worth driving down if you are not in the area

Ashwini A.

Yelp
SERVICE - located in parking lot across from the Kaiser hospital - easy to park - order at truck and pay inside liquor store - outdoor tent with seating - super sweet girls take order - complimentary chai - responsive to phone calls - food made relatively quickly MENU - Indian chaats and entrees - all vegetarian - well priced! We spent a total of $27 for 2 people FOOD - samosa (10/10): samosas are one of my key deciding factors for any chaat place. These were nearly perfect. There was the right amount of filling to bread ratio and the size was also right for one person. - Kachori Chaat (9/10): I loved the taste of this dish. It is clear that the Chole is made from scratch and not canned beans. The only thing I would have wished is for it to be 2 smaller kachoris instead of 1 big one to make it easier to split. Otherwise, this was my favorite dish taste wise. - Bangalore Masala Puri (9/10): This was the one dish that I had not seen in other places so I ordered it to try. The pooris got a bit soggy by the time we ate it but I think if I ate it fresh it would have stayed crisp. It was a bit spicier than expected which was fine for me but is good to keep in mind in case you are not for spicy food. - Aloo Tikki Chaat (9/10): this had all the classic flavors and elements of aloo tikki chaat with the potatoes, lentil curry, and sev. I was a bit confused since there were diced potatoes and the patty, which is not something that I have seen traditionally. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! It was so good and satisfied my chaat craving

Ram S.

Yelp
They continue to be a top notch place for chaat style of Indian food (street side snacks). This is a food truck inside a liquor store parking lot opposite the Kaiser hospital entrance. You order upfront or at the food truck and then, go into the liquor store to make the payment for your purchase. They have a few small picnic like tables if you wish to eat out there. We usually order takeaway food from them. Favorites are the - bread pakora (bread deep fried with a potato stuffing) - Aloo tiki channa (potato cutlet in a chickpea masala gravy topped with crunchy sev ) - Their paneer pakora - Finally, the awesome masala chai Every food tastes great, a little on the spicier side. I would consider this normal Indian food , most others, especially kids may find it spicier. Would highly recommend trying out chaat from them

Chethan C.

Yelp
Good food but very disorganized . Also, multiple folks with smaller orders got their food before us.

Rohit R.

Yelp
Just ordered via doordash. The portion size is ridiculous for a $10 item. It wouldnt even pass as a kid size.

Anagha J.

Yelp
Upgrading my review of this place to 5 stars The food today was soooooooooo gooooooood!!!! Omg! Perfectly spiced, pipping hot -perfect for the weather. Dishes to try- 1. Chilly pakoda- super spicy just the way it should be! 2. Dahi puri - was good with balanced sweet and spicy chutneys 3. Aloo paratha - this was stellar! 2 big well stuffed parathas with chole, raita, achaar and onions 4. Bangalore masala puri - puri with ragda ( ragda was good but I prefer other chaat dishes over this so I would suggest you get this only if you really like the dish itself) The complimentary chai was sweetened with fennel. The staff was also very warm and welcoming. The lady at the truck waved at us when the food was ready so that we could wait in our car instead of standing by the truck in the cold.

Aish N.

Yelp
Latest chaat stop find in the bay area that serves the tastiest parathas I've had in a while. The yogurt that comes with the chaat and/or parathas is creamy and delicious. Also, their chai is complimentary. Taking half a star off for the slow service. Their "Order at the truck and pay inside the liquor store" system can add to the chaos and the delay sometimes.

Reshu A.

Yelp
This review has been long overdue. Been here a few times and tried about everything, each and every item tastes fresh, is packed with flavor and just like the name, transports me back to the street food of Delhi. The owners are nice and though there could be a long wait, they do give an option of calling before and ordering before you reach there. Dahi papdi chaat is my favorite, closely followed by Chana bhatura, Gobi Manchurian and Gobi parantha. The gobi Manchurian is pretty crispy, spicy and comes with green pepper and onion. Pav Bhaji here is pretty bomb too. The Chana Bhatura is crispy, they serve with pickle, tiny salad and chana(chickpea) is well cooked and delish. One suggestion to owners is to steep the chana in teabag to make delhi style chhole and probably put paneer bits in bhatura. Delhi thrives on paneer bhature and darker colored chhole, nobody in bay area gets it right until now but nevertheless their chana bhatura is pretty delectable. Try out this place, you won't be disappointed in anything you order. Try to come right before or at 7pm so you don't hit peak crowd.

Shraddha P.

Yelp
I ordered Chole Bhature n it gave me diarrhea and vomiting 2 hours after I ate it. Never going to order from this restaurant How they have 4.5 stars, I don't understand.

Rajeev T.

Yelp
Had ordered pakora and after eating it suffered from diarrhea and stomach upset . Their food is very unhygienic and they seem to be using expired spices and materials to save cost . Same thing happened last time when i ordered parathas . Will not order again from this place.

Ps N.

Yelp
Got the Bangalore masala chaat and the pani puri. The Bangalore masala chaat was ok. Unfortunately the pani puri was the worst I've ever tasted in my life. The pani was completely unflavored and basically tasted like a very watered down version of the tamarind chutney with absolutely no spice or mint flavor. Also there was hardly enough potato filling given to stuff 3 puris.

Nikita T.

Yelp
Worst place ! Machurian , noodles and sahi bade took more than an hour wait . They won't upfront tell you it's going to be that long . You are basically stuck. This place should close down . Really bad business .

T S.

Yelp
Can be busy but has one of the better chaats in South Bay. Dahi poori and bread pakora are delish.

Kelly D.

Yelp
The food was really good super flavorful. The service was good the staff were quiet but super polite and helpful. It's outdoor seating they have a tent it's a little cold but it's nice. The complimentary chai is also super delicious!

Vivek K.

Yelp
This place takes togo orders, so that was definitely a plus when trying to pick it up on the way back from groceries right before closing. They were very considerate and did the final packing when we arrived so that some of the dishes don't turn too soggy for us to enjoy at home. We ordered the Bhel Puri, Dahi Bateta Sev Puri, Masala Puri, and Samosa Chaat. The Dahi Bateta Sev Puri was definitely the star. It had just the right amount of green chutney, sweet chutney, and yogurt, and they just popped and mixed in your mouth so nicely, giving it the sweet and tangy flavor with a bit of spice. The Bhel Puri and Masala Puri tasted good as well, but the red onions used were too strong. I think the Samosa Chaat was done well as well, but for some reason the samosa itself didn't feel as fresh. Still yummy though. This place is close to my house so I can definitely see myself coming more often. One of the better chaat food trucks in the area.

Prakash O.

Yelp
Nice food & great prices. The pani puri was authentic & the Gobi manchurian was awesome. Will be back soon!

Sneha K.

Yelp
This is the only place that I know of that serves Bangalore style masala poori. The masala poori was delicious and very flavorful and made with peas which is the authentic way of making it. My toddler enjoyed the dahi papdi Chaat which was mildly spiced. My husband tried the kachori Chaat which was ok. Half of the plate was filled with big chunks of potato. Not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be. Can be skipped. The complementary chai provided while you wait for the food was very comforting in the cold weather. There's decent outdoor seating with a heater but it can be definitely improved with better tables, but not a big deal for me. Overall I enjoyed the food here on a rainy evening and give my five stars just for having good masala poori on their menu !

Kavya K.

Yelp
The food is amazing but they have forgotten to deliver puris for the masala puri every time when we order take out. It makes for a suboptimal experience because we need to run to the Indian store for puris. We typically order the Chaat home so that we don't have to step out. Please address this recurring problem so that it doesn't stop us from being patrons because we love the food from here. Thanks.

Bindi S.

Yelp
Amazing food. My first time visiting here and I wasnt expecting much given the location. We wanted to try something different and so chose this food truck. Ordered bhel poori, chhole bature and makki roti and saag. Everything tasted super good specially the bhel-its probably the best I have eaten in the bay area and closest to the Mumbai bhel I crave for all the time. The chhole bature was good too. The saag was a little bland but makki roti was great. Total was $24 and change and you pay at the mini mart next to it. They did charge us an extra dollar but we didnt ask why. Quantity was a lot -my husband finished his share but I had to stop eating at the halfway mark (though we annihilated the bhel).

Madhava C.

Yelp
The gobi manchurian maybe one of the best I've eaten in a very long time. The other chat items hovered around the average. Ordered masala puri, samosa, tea(is complimentary), vada pav. Overall quite happy with the mix of options, so would love to revisit for a quick snack.

Yelp
I have been going to New Delhi Chat ever since they opened this truck. For the initial few years, the quality of food was good as well as they used to give Chole with parathas which they have stopped. Since last year or so their quality of food as well as service went down the drain. The last few times I have placed a pick-up order it took them quite some time when I went to pick it up to give me the order. Today I figured out the issue, I placed an pick/to-go order at 6:50PM after multiple calls, they said 15 to 20 mins and order will be ready. I reached there at 7:18 to pick up order and waited for 5 mins so they acknowledged but nothing so went up the window and asked for my food. As usual, they said to go to the liquor store and pay which I did, and came back with the receipt they said a few minutes, 15 mins past no response while I had been waiting on top of when I placed the order now 1 hour ago and no sign or order. I went up and asked for food again she went 5 minutes at this point I said I needed a refund and I no longer wished to have food. Basically, when you order via phone they don't make your food until you go there and pay and wait just like walk-in orders. No point of the phone order to save time. This was the last time I visited New Delhi Chat. If you are thinking of ordering my only advice is "think twice of waiting hour or more to get food".

Mayank S.

Yelp
Awesome and tasty Chaat place, New Delhi Chaat. Friendly and Professional Staff and wonderful customer service, very quick with quality not compromised. All menu items are excellent in taste from Dahi Batata Sev Puri, Dahi Papdi Chat, Kachodi Chat, Aloo Tikki Chat... Great quantity for the price one pay. Strongly and Highly Recommended!!

Ashwin S.

Yelp
Bad ordering experience and missing items puts off good food. We called ahead 20 mins before arrival then had to wait 30 mins after we reached to get our order at which point we were missing an item. I didn't check our order and we live too far away to go back. The food is good, always has and I really want to like them, they seem like nice people but the wait seems to get worse each time and that paired with the missing order just makes this not a good experience. We ordered aloo tikki chaat, dahi batata, aloo paratha and the missing samosa chaat which we never got. Pity, because that's been my favorite item with them and after this I don't see myself going back. Everything we did get was good. 2 stars.

Karan M.

Yelp
This place is not how it used to be. I have been coming here since it first opened up under the previous owner. Now the prices have gone up while the food and the flavor has somewhat went down. I'll pass as there are other options near by.

Jobin A.

Yelp
Simple, flavorful and good Chaat. Order at the food truck and pay inside. Easy to find, opposite Kaiser Santa Clara.

G P.

Yelp
I had a stomach upset after eating here both times. Their chats are relatively good, but all seem to taste the same. They do not add yogurt to their chats which is uncommon to me. Avoid their curries, they don't seem fresh or flavorful. Complimentary chai is good. Paying at the liquor store is inconvenient.

KS S.

Yelp
This is the most consistently awesome food truck. Paneer and chili pakodas, chat in general is very good and fresh. No old oil cooking. Used to serve free tea and I guess still do.

Jyoti P.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service! Love their menu and location too! Authentic food served at a very short notice!

Ekta B.

Yelp
I used to get panipuri from them a few years ago and the pani used to be nice and spicy. With sweet chutney on the side you have both options: spicy or sweet whichever you like. But now they have mixed the sweet chutney in the pani itself. They still have additional sweet chutney on the side so now your two options are sweet and sweet. I eat street food for my spicy/salty Indian taste buds.. they've taken out both flavors and replaced it with sugar water. I can eat dessert if I wanted sweet food.

S Y.

Yelp
They say 25+ mins when you place order and we got our order only after 45+ mins. Totally disappointed...!

Samhita A.

Yelp
The worst in managing orders, kids have been waiting for more than 45 minutes with no update on the orders, if they can't take orders and manage please close taking orders at the right time! People come here for food and taking more than an hour to even give an update is really not customer friendly! It's a big no no esp with kids especially if time is more important

Jaspreet S.

Yelp
Best Indian Appetisers hands down around the area. The service is quick and convenient. Love their chaats and gol gappe.

Manu C.

Yelp
we had to wait for a little bit, but it was worth waiting. The food was amazing. Each dish had its unique taste, and we loved it. Great place for family and friends. Highly recommended if you want to taste of authentic Indian food.

Shivansh C.

Yelp
Had tried their make di roti and season ka saag earlier. So today when we wanted Chaat, this was the only place open and decided to try it out. We got a lot of food in fairly cheap and everything was really good, especially their pakoras and kachori Chaat. Would come back again especially to try their kachoris next time.

Lilian L.

Yelp
Went last year, never got to hit the submit button on this review. - My best friend said we were just getting snack.. 'just snacks', she said.... Oh no no no no.. We ended up ordering way too much food and everything was amazing. We asked for a recommendation after picking out three things and the gentleman was awesome and asked us if we would want to order a hot dish since we ordered all cold dishes which we didn't even realize.. We had Bhel Puri, Dehi Battata (Sev Poori?), Dahi Papdi Chaat, and Alu Tikki Chole (that one was my favorite). Everything was really good. Oh their masala tea is really good: not too watery and on point with the spices. I'm picky when it comes to Indian Chai. I only like how my friend Sharry makes it.

Vanaja U.

Yelp
I finally got to try masala puri, something my friends from Bangalore rage about, and it was pretty good! I enjoyed the mixed textures of the masala puri, and the spice was just right for me. I find typical chaat places to be a bit on the less spicier side, but this one did a great job. Dahi bateta sev puri here was amazing here, it is my absolute favorite thing to order wherever I go. We asked for a bit less dahi because it can get in the way of flavors sometimes, and it was bomb. 10/10, would come back for this any day. It isn't what we get in Bombay, but it still is one of the best I've had in the bay area. Chilly pakoda was okay and normal as expected and I probably wouldn't order paneer pakoda again. Pro tip: You can ask to get more of one pakoda than the other in case you just want to try one of the pakodas :) I also got their ginger cooler thinking it was a ginger lemonade with a hint of spice, but it was really spicy for me, almost like jal jeera. The name had thrown me off haha, I had expected something sweet with a hint of masala, but there was no sweetness to it whatsoever. I didn't really enjoy it, but the owner was sweet to acknowledge that and give me another drink free of charge. Both the workers at the truck were extremely sweet and helpful, they genuinely wanted to know how the food was for was and how they could make sure we had a good experience. Thank you :) Will definitely come back :) 10/10

Jitesh M.

Yelp
Had chole bature and they tasted amazing. Would highly recommend if you want to try authentic chole bature.
