I attended the New Dodge Lounge for a night of music by Davvn & Jack the Underdog. Venue is great for small shows. Bar area is small, but there is so much room everywhere else. Upstairs seating has tables and a lounge space. Bathrooms were clean, and there is an area with a pool table and arcade type machines. The location/area is a little questionable but just be smart and stay with your group.

I visited New Dodge Lounge for the first time on July 26, 2025 at 3:30PM. Interesting building with a second story lounge area. Multiple stages for entertainment. Clean inside. When I asked the 6 1/2 foot tall boisterous and narcissistic male bartender why a can of Strohs beer is $5, he replied: “It’s not 1985”. I will not return to New Dodge Lounge.

My boyfriend and I were here last night for our first time!!! He is an artist and goes by N3ON TIGER. He played this venue with Brain Rack for his tour stop. The dance floor although not huge is rather roomy and the venue size gives an intimate boiler room vibe yet the phenomenal lasers sound and visual wall set the festival tone!!! Everyone that worked there has great vibes and were super friendly!!! We had a few slices of cheese pizza which were unfortunately not hot and tough but that did not take away from the overall experience!!! There is also a game room so you have many things to do while enjoying a show. 🤗💛✌️🕉️☮️💯

Second time I've played here and it's a gem around detroit. For this type of venue to have a great sound and intimate nature is a wonderful combo. Plenty of rich history here from some of the decor and even the cellar window in the bathroom. I love this place and it's always a joy to come back.

Google
What an amazing place. The drinks were priced right. But the best part was the music. The New Dodge Lounge is "your neighborhood bar for live music, great entertainment and cold drinks." And boy is it. They have live music on the weekends. Songstress jo was amazing as always. She and her band, did an inspiring set. One of her best songs was "FYK". She got the crowd involved. Songstress jo fed off their energy and the crowd fed off of her energy. It was fantastic. It took me almost two hours to get there, but it was well worth it. I will be back for sure.

Google
Everything about this place is great. They are very accepting and accommodate able here. I recommend this place to people wanting to host parties and first dates. The music can be heard but is not too loud that you can't talk to the person in front of you. They have live band, open mic, tea parties and a few arcade games. You will have to park on the street or in a near by parking lot. Also it is wheelchair accessible however you will only have access to the bottom floor. Not to worry though everything you need is all downstairs.

Google
Amazing place, totally transformed from the old dodge lounge to the new. The atmosphere is comfortable, the live music is rocking, and the drinks are well priced. It was my first time here since the new ownership and I am impressed. I will be returning for more live music events!

Google
Lined up a show there over a month ago only to get there for setup and find out they double booked with no communication. Horrible experience

Yelp
Was able to to recently check out the bar under new ownership and it was amazing. They have old school arcade games, a pool table, and enough space for live music! The owner was bartending and was easy going, friendly, and quick! The vibe is great, the beer is tasty and the pizza was delicious! Will definitely be hanging out there a lot more often now

Yelp
I haven't been to Hamtramck in a long time. This bar was a delight to go to and see our friend play in a band. It's a cool place love the upstairs too. My husband and I were hungry and ordered a couple of sandwiches made by a guy who has his business in there. It's a very limited menu but we each got different sandwiches and they were delicious! Nice place.

Yelp
This place was pretty dope! They had a second floor that you could watch the performances from. The service was a two out of 10 the bartenders were in a very I don't want to be here mood. The atmosphere was pretty cool. It felt a little bit thrown together, but it was unique

Yelp
Hamtramck staple, dive bar that has live music often. The best place to see live music in the Ham, because of the widow's walk around 1/2 the main floor with great views of the stage. Louie, the resident bartender, is awesome and attentive. Took 1 star off because the women's restroom can REALLY use mirrors! AND they really need to service the toilets to flush adequately. Drink prices are reasonable, but parking is precarious, no parking lot, just street parking, and since it's near lots of residential, don't park on a residential street, or you will be found out and towed.

Yelp
Ahhh... The New Dodge... I have so many fond memories here, that I am sure I am more generous with my stars than most. Back in the early 2000s, this was where the ICU staff from the DMC hung out. We would get off work at 7 am and come here to laugh off our stress and in many times cry. There is nothing I can compare to the stress of being a new grad RN in such a high acuity ICU. Anyway, walking through the doors always brings back fond memories. We would sit at the bar and drink all morning with some of the auto workers. They would fire up the grill and we would ear a burger while jamming on the juke box. All while normal people were just getting to work, we were already getting drunk. Haha This is how I was introduced to "Fat Tuesday" Hamtramck style. What a party!! I have been gone from that job since 2013, but I simply brought my tradition over to my BFF, and now has been our tradition for the past 7 years. We even have friends that we only see on this day! Everyone is Polish on Fat Tuesday! It's complete chaos that starts at 7 am and goes until you basically pass out. Cheap drinks. Shots all around. Homemade perogies. Just an all around fun time!! Expect to stand and stick to the floor the whole time. Be prepared for craziness. For those of you hearing that the owner is racist, I don't see it. I worked with nurses of all color, races, and Creed. Never once experienced the owner being racist. My BFF is not white. He's never been treated poorly either. Sounds like a smear campaign to me. The bar is enormous with a huge upstairs and with pool tables. Unfortunately, there aren't enough bathrooms for such a big place, but there are port o potties outside. No worries.

Yelp
Great bar for a live show, came on HMF weekend and the place was humming, crowed but still some room to move around. I watched most of the show from the balcony, this is a great spot for a bird eyes view of all that's going on in the New Dodge. Both bands sounded pretty good and the light show was also pretty good. Bonus for cheep beer and bartenders that were hustling to get drinks out. All in all it was a great night out and New Dodge was a good place to catch the HMF.

Yelp
Cool place to hang out. Two story bar with a lot of local clients. Busy bar to go during one of Hamtramck's many festivals. A must stop location.

Yelp
The bartender asked me if I'd like an ashtray with my beer. Luckily for me, I went on a slow, rainy day so there weren't a ton of people in the bar. But there were enough, and when I went home, I smelled like cigarettes. I'm definitely not a fan of any place that still allows smoking. Sure, it's a huge, old bar with a cool loft area, but hanging out with a bunch of smoking hipsters isn't my idea of a good time.

Yelp
Do Not EVER come here! The owner is a piece of trash. Prices are inconsistent based on the color of your skin and she likes to use the "N" word religiously. I scoped this bar out last night and I will NEVER be back. What a disappointment. She treated a mixed interracial couple HORRIBLY and we were witnesses to the entire altercation and the gentleman acted appropriately even after being treated the way that he was. As if we already don't have enough hate in this world- this solidified that some people just can't get passed the color of your skin. What a joke. So sad. Point blank, don't waste your money here, not worth it. To make it worse, I wrote a review on their Facebook page and they deleted it along with several other reviews regarding the owners behavior. STAY AWAY!

Jordan M.

Yelp
Went to see a live band a few days ago here. They were absolutely not following state Coronavirus health protocols! Almost the entire audience wasn't wearing a mask and there was no social distancing enforced. Also, I'm a fan of dive bars but this place is just downright dirty inside, like they don't clean or dust anything it seemed. The only good thing here was the cheap drinks.

Yelp
I love this place! Such a great venue for parties, and the staff is like family. Thank you guys!
google avatar

Yelp
The best bar with the best staff in town in hamtramck I must see. Great atmosphere and the best rock bands in town on the weekends
google avatar

Rell S.

Yelp
Great music, great atmosphere!!!!! The drinks are second to none, and the staff makes you feel like family. My new hangout!!
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Cheap drinks, great loft. We got there about 9:30 on a Saturday and it was dead. Maybe more of a latenight stop. Big stage, I'd like to see a show there - from the loft.

Yelp
The number one miss on this place for me, is they allow smoking inside. And on a crowded night especially, the whole place is just an uncomfortable smoke bomb inside and I leave with clothes, purse and hair reeking. Not my idea of a good time. Other than that....there's a couple pool tables in back, a stage where live rock bands frequently play. It's loud, and rough around the edges. There are plenty of people in Hamtramck and the surrounding areas that are looking for precisely what New Dodge is offering, but at my age I'm no longer one of them. I'll leave this place to the rocker kids, but I'll steer clear.

Yelp
Love this place. Esther hosts stand up comedy open mic every other Tuesday and Maria the winner always makes us great food. Cheap $2 beers and a great Hamtramck bar to hang with friends

Yelp
I came here with 2 expectations. 1. To see a wonderful performance. 2. Get a good drink or 2 or 5 I got #1 only. The bartenders acted like they didn't even want to take our orders. We waited 10 minutes for a drink, I never even got. When I brought the issue up to the bartender whom looked to be running the show, his response was " well, what do you want?". SMH. Don't wanna be at work? Leave early, say you're sick. Dont be rude to yiur customers. As I am writing this, I was able to flag down my original bartender. I said, "what happened? You forgot about me?" Then proceeded to run down the last 20mins of crap. She apologized, the bought me a drink. That customer service repair just gave the establishment an extra star.

Yelp
I like the red bus outside, and the matching red neon sign. I like that there's a Checkers right across the street for some eats and if it's nice you can sit outside on one of their tables and hear music from the New Dodge across Joseph Campau. New Dodge itself doesn't serve food apart from salty snacks in foil bags but it seems like fairly frequently there's a picnic type buffet in large rectangular foil containers that folks like me can mooch in on. I haven't figured out any rhyme or reason as to how or when mystery food will show up which is too bad since half the time I've got a belly full of Checkers. That back room also used to have a Ms. Pacman/Galaga machine, which I only discovered gone my last visit and I already sorely miss. I think they have pinball and Keno and some other coin operated gadget but I can only clearly envision the Keno. The others are just non-early 80s-Atari-things. They sometimes get some pretty good musical acts for a smaller joint. Cover tends to be reasonable, too. I once saw Eddie Kirkland, one of John Lee Hooker's original bandmates, play for 2 and a half hours here. Dude was 83 years old and touring the nation in a late 70s yellow station wagon with wood panelling. Last night I saw George Morris and the Gypsy Chorus play as part of the last night of the Metro Times Blowout. They've clearly listened to a lot if T Rex and that's a very good thing. It's kind of a small area between the bar and the stage to check out a band. I much prefer the second floor indoor veranda, although sometimes randomly and for no apparent reason they have it closed off. It really bums me out when they do that. Andrea the bartender is extra awesome. The other barkeeps are fine by me, too. I just only know them as people who sell me Red Bull, cranberry juice and the occasional salty snack. The crowd ranges from people who have been around the scene long enough to recoil from the word "hipster" to depressed-seeming Hamtown locals. (And now that I think of it, there is some overlap to those 2 categories.) They also have a large trippy mural on the side of the building that's worth a look and maybe a snap. And I think some dude I work with hosts a karaoke night, but I'm hazy on that just like the non-Ms. Pacman/Galaga game(s) cause it really ain't my thing.

Yelp
We love this place! Old Detroit charm. Wood floors, chairs and bar top. Upper balcony to see the really unique bands they get touring through Detroit! Always a beer or drink special. Love the bartenders there-especially louie!

Kristen Z.

Yelp
Really disappointed in the 'service' if you can call it that. Smoking in the building - which is illegal... and that was actually the best part. Disrespectful and racist comments made to paying customers - f-bombs, the N word, flicking people off - this isn't service, by any standard. An absolute disgrace, don't waste your time.

Yelp
I'm from Columbus Ohio up here for a concert and I love this bar so much I'm tempted to move here!!!!

Yelp
New Dodge Lounge loses a star because my favorite pair of glasses died in their bathroom. Probably their fault. It was definitely the fluorescent lighting. It's a nice, clean, spacious bar with good concerts every now and again. It has a second floor where you can sit and watch music, and the first floor has a nice pool table. This is easily one of my favorite Bar/Venues in Hamtramck. Sometimes it reminds me of an old saloon, which is a nice thing to be reminded of.

Tyler N.

Yelp
My go-to hamtramck bar. Good shows, great service, and the coldest PBR in Detroit. Would recommend every day of the week
google avatar

Sam G.

Yelp
Such an odd little place. Nothing but well liquor (and maybe a handle of Jack). Good beers on tap. Everything is served in plastic cups. A locals bar that is littered with hep cats and eclectic music. Strangely clean, but also kind of empty feeling on slow nights. It's a nice space (exposed brick and hardwood floors if I remember correctly). It seems to have character but not atmosphere (even with the cigarette smoke). Then again, the whole place might change on busier and later nights. No complaints, but it doesn't make my heart-throb list either.

Susan P.

Yelp
Fun live music venue. Nothing fancy but we played darts in the back room while we waited for the band to set up then listened to good music in the front room. $10 cover seemed worth it to me.

Esha L.

Yelp
I have to say a great place to go... The service was awesome... and most important the drinks were great... I would most definitely would recommend this place!!!!!
google avatar

Jasmine B.

Yelp
First off; the SMOKING. Honestly, there was a law put in effect for a reason and they clearly just don't give a damn lol. Second; The bartender (longer dark blonde hair) is rude. The drinks were terribly mixed (cranberry & vodka and gin & tonic) shouldn't be that hard to make.... And the food supposedly stops being served at 9 pm yet we came at 8:30 and it was cleaned up before then. The only good part was the music lol.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Great place for a drink and live music. If you don't like it here you're probably stinky.
google avatar

Mind Melting F.

Yelp
Apparently they like to break the law as THEY ALLOW SMOKING. I'm not sure how they get away with this and have for years apparently. If I had known, I wouldn't have wasted time or lungs. It appeared that who I suspect was the owner was even smoking. We only stayed for one beer and had to wash our clothes and shower when we got home. Too bad, it seems like a cool little bar. Sadly, we will never go back to this little piece of hell. If you value your lungs, stay away!

Yelp
Love the vibe, sound, and friendly bartenders. However they ripped me off by over charging my debit on a tab-- and failed to remedy the situation despite admittance of error, and several phone calls over a months time. So bring CASH. Sorry, two stars as a result.
google avatar

Haroun K.

Yelp
Hamtramck is an enigma to me. It is such a diverse neighborhood, with so many wonderful businesses (Yemeni, Bosnian, Macedonian...), and yet the bar scene seems either full of hipsters, or, as I saw at New Dodge, the most depressing smokers. It reminds me of the nosebleed section of a Red Wings game. I would have given 1 or 2 stars, but the service is pretty amazing and the drinks are cheap.

Amanda A.

Yelp
The first time I went to New Dodge Lounge was to see The Gepetto Files. The venue is perfect for shows, especially if you can snag a table with your friends up on the loft to look down at the stage. The venue is fun and spacious and the staff is extremely friendly. I'd go into more detail, but their long island's were so incredibly strong that any other necessary details are pretty fuzzy. In other news, that is a good thing and made for a very happy bar night/live music experience.
