The Best Restaurants In Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Dokil Bakery has been around for decades—known especially for making sweet breads and cakes for Korean grocery stores in Chicago and all over the Midwest. And one bite of their pastries is all it takes to see how they’ve made it through Y2K, a global pandemic, and the fall of Twitter. All of their breads and buns have a heavenly lightness—perfectly soft and squishy, sweet without feeling overbearing. They’re so easy and pleasant to eat, don’t be surprised if you make it through a peanut cream bread, red bean bread, banana cream bread, and green tea castella in one sitting." - john ringor, adrian kane

New Dokil Bakery - Review - Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Dokil Bakery has been around for decades—known mainly for its individually packed sweet breads in Korean grocery stores all over Chicago and the Midwest. And one bite of their baked goods is all it takes to see why they've been around for so long. All of their breads and buns have a pleasant lightness—soft and squishy, and never too sweet. They’re so easy to eat, don’t be surprised if you make it through a peanut cream bread, red bean bread, banana cream bread, and green tea castella in one go." - John Ringor

I’ve been a customer of New Dokil Bakery for many years with purchasing their items from H Mart. I’ve walked in and made a few bigger purchases to give to staff at various hospitals. They ALL LOVE the cream breads, bean paste breads and morning breads. The owner Grace is very sweet and the staff is very friendly and greet you when you walk in. I’ve told coworkers, family and friends about this bakery. Much success and I’ll be back soon to get more breads for the Xmas holiday. Happy Thanksgiving ❤️

I was walking around the neighborhood and noticed the sign for New Dokil Bakery. Dokil 독일 means German/Germany in Korean, and the sign reminded me of one of my favorite Kdramas Reply 1988. This store is a cute neighborhood bakery that sells delicious Korean breads, some with cream fillings. The bread tastes fresh and homemade, and it's priced reasonably. The owner is also very friendly and welcoming. They make cakes to order as well, so next time I have a special occasion I'll try ordering from New Dokil Bakery. I like to support local businesses over international franchises, and I'm impressed that they have been in operation for over forty years!

The employee we spoke with was very kind and gave us great recommendations as someone unfamiliar with Korean baked goods! We ended up trying the Bean Cream bread and also the Ube one. Both were excellent!

First time here. The owner was very nice and welcoming. I got the custard stuffed bread at a great price, and it tasted fresh and creamy and sweet. Wonderful place to stop and pick up something to treat yourself. They should update the storefront to be more visible and attract more customers.

I came into the bakery during my lunch break and was greeted by the owner and her friend. They were both incredibly kind and helpful, and the soboro ppang was fresh and delightful! I'll definitely be returning for more!

Ordered the Strawberry Yogurt Cake and it was very good! It’s the perfect not too sweet cake. Everyone loved it and was asking where I got it from. Very easy to order too! I also really appreciated the inclusion of candles and a cake topper, the box is also super cute!

Yelp
I am glad I got to visit the bakery. I had tried their other items previously at a market called Joong Bo Market. The service was great and the bakery items were excellent. I highly recommend them!
