New Glory Craft Brewery is gloriful. Yea I made that word up.
Turns out that New Glory Craft Brewery (NGCB) nearly opened as Old Glory Craft Brewery as in Old Glory, the nickname of the Stars and Stripes. But they received a cease-and-desist letter from some dickbutt company in the East Coast, so instead of opening as Old Glory, Older Glory or Old Gloriful, they settled for New Glory because new is what people care about nowadays anyways.
Stumbled upon NGCB on a recent dog-friendly beer tour of Sacramento with the wife and four-legged rescue-doodle. Almost missed Alpine Avenue because it's a small street sandwiched between a mattress store and an auto repair business. If you miss it, don't fret. Just go down to Fruitridge, get some tacos to-go from Chando's and drive back up. NGCB is BYOF as in bring your own food.
NGCB had just brewed three gloriful limited release beers for Sacramento Beer Week so we sampled all three. This included the 15.2% Infinite Void Stout that was legendary, the spontaneously fermented lemon/lime sour known as the Immaculate Conception, and the sour blonde ale made with cherries known as Cherry McFizz. This ménage a trois of beers was orgasmic.
We also loved the Mandarin Coconut Gose, the Tropical Affair DIPA, and the Brewed From The Heart Apple Tart Saison that was like a spiked Martinelli's. The Lemon Meringue Pie really tasted like pie as well, but good thing we didn't get a full pour because it was rich.
On top of all the gloriful array of beers, Dave, really made our day. Super jovial and informative with the typical beerworkers' requisite beard, he had reggae-themed socks to match the awesome reggae music playing at NGCB. He added that in the summer, NGCB would be celebrating their 4-year-anniversary!
With all the breweries in Sacramento, it can be hard to make a splash. But this gloriful OG brewery really makes amazing beers, especially if you like sours and experimental beers. If only they were closer, new GLORY craft brewery could have been my local watering HOLE.
* Irony about NGCB is that the owner is French! That's why I chose ménage a trois above. BTW, no hating on the French because without the French the 13 colonies would've never beat the bloody Brits... and at the end of the day Je Suis Charlie!
* NGCB is dog-friendly so long as your dog is friendly.
* Parking is street only. Not a problem on the weekend!
