It was the beeeest! Tried our luck for NYE dinner and lo and behold us knowing how to count in Mandarin got us a table quick (kidding there were about 3 groups in line and 4 tables available). Anyway we ordered 8 things off the menu and paid about $40 each including tips. I practically took photos of every dish except the stir fried pea shoots (really good vegetarian option). Soup is good on a cold winter day, the beef chow fun well cooked beef is soft and tender, noodles not oily (requesd for less oil), salt and pepper softshell crab best eaten with chili sauce (ask for the chili) adds another layer of umaminto the dish! Next we have the sweet and sour pork, crispy pork with crisp vegetables my favorite! Very hard to find this type of sweet and sour pork in Boston. Yang Chow fried rice always a staple. You can feel each grain of rice, so delicious. And lastly the lobster w scallion and ginger flavorful and meaty. Best eaten with the veggie plate of stir fried pea shoots. It was an amazing dinner to cap off the year! Will definitely go back! Ambiance ans Service is 5 because it really feels like you’re transported back to a Cantonese restaurant in Asia. Loud and busy, quick (which most can mistake as rude) and people just loving the food and sharing with family/friends.

Good food. Great prices. Not much on atmosphere but the food the reason to stop by. Ordered their lunch specials. Tasted fantastic! Large portions. The waiter asked for cash only. Our taste buds, stomachs, and wallets were completely satisfied. We ordered the Fish with Vegetables & Rice, Beef with Bitter Melon & Rice, and the West Beef Chow Foon. When you look at the photos, you will see just how big the portions are. Enjoy!

Dish of the day goes to "Giant Clam with stir fried glass noodles" Fried rice is done perfectly as always both taste and texture. Crab and prawn dishes taste good but not convenient to eat. Better with hands, not recommend for people who don't like eating with hands.

Definitely not the most authentic Chinese rest but lots of options and very accommodating for our large group. Really enjoyed the Walnut Shrimp, Scallion Pancakes, Fries Chicken.

First time trying this restaurant during business travels to Boston. Absolutely loved it here. The staff was very friendly and inviting during my dine-in experience. I especially enjoyed the complimentary tea prior to the meal. Ordered the orange chicken and chicken fried rice. They provided huge portions for a fair price! Definitely worth trying if you’re in town.

The new Golden Gate in Boston is the same Chinese seafood restaurant that it replaced with the same name with good quality and consistently tasty seafood offerings. The only difference that struck me is a new selection of bundle servings that allow sharing for a large group. Some new menu and seasonal specials are exotic seafood fares that must be popular to their local clientele. This is not fine dining as furnishings are very spare and staff and some customers loudly speak to each other :)

For a bill of $151, the boss of the restaurant asked for $30 tips straight taken from the change. The tip is not from our value of their service just based on 20% of total bill. Other than that, the food is comparable to Guangdong province. Not excellent just comparable.

By far, the most authentic and best Chinese food you’ll experience in America. Pictured below: Boneless spare ribs. Beef teriyaki. (If you’re choosing one or the other, choose this one) Pork fried rice. (The sauce concentrate tastes like applesauce. Add it to your rice.)

One of the few late night canto style Chinese spots open late still: i think since rona most close a lot earlier now. Was craving some quick takeout after a long shift and popped in. Quick phone order, ready in 15minutes. The chicken they use for the pan fried noodz is breast, so it was a bit dry was hoping for shredded thigh. Probably go with beef or pork next time. The calamari was crispy and fresh, definitely needed more salt pepper seasoning or spicy jalepenos, whoever fried up this batch must have been super light handed. However, it did its job and fed the hunger haha. They've been around forever and still cater to the post club crowds. Late night stop for sure the owner is chill and usually remembers regulars old and recent.

We were so hungry at 2am and didn't feel like cheffing up anything at home haha. Now, I haven't been to New Golden Gate in YEARS... literally since I was a kid! We called in our order for takeout & drove to pick up. It was packed at this time, likely since clubs let out at 2am. Food was ready within 10-15min, even with it being so busy. We ordered the usual two dishes we get for takeout from Chinese restaurants: pan fried noodles w/ chicken & salt + pepper squid and asked for chili oil. In terms of tastiness of these two dishes compared to other establishments in Chinatown, it's definitely not as great in my opinion. Typically, chicken breast is used for their chicken option for the pan fried noodles (in general) but we found it to be extra dry and didn't touch the chicken at all, just the noodles. I wish more of the noodles were crispy rather than soft. I don't know what it was missing for flavor other than salt... it was missing something though. The salt & pepper squid was missing salt, as well. Still, portions were nice and actually came with a good amount. OMG, we asked for some chili oil and to our surprise, it had a nice kick lol. Overall, not the best food but one of the only Chinese restaurants open still at this time, other than Jade Garden... couldn't get ahold of Jade Garden so we decided to try New Golden Gate for this reason! Still did the job ;)

Was craving Chinese food and came here for dinner. The interior was clean but old. Service was great and most of the food was pretty good. We ordered the small minced beef soup (we had leftover soup with 4 of us), lobster, sweet shrimp, pea sprouts, seafood chow fun, and house special clay pot. The sweet shrimp and the dipping sauce were really delicious. The pea sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The seafood chow fun was dry but maybe they misunderstood us and forgot the gravy. Food is pretty authentic Chinese cuisine. Would come back next time we are in the area.

Good authentic Chinese restaurant find in Chinatown Boston. Stepped in from the heat of the day into this cool place. Lots of menu options to choose from but I had to get the lobster and salt and pepper squid. I added the noodles on suggestion from another dining patron. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the salt and pepper squid was exactly the taste I was looking for. The shrimp with noodles could have used a little more seasoning and spices. Lobster 9/10 Salt&Pepper Squid 10/10 Shrimp noodles

Is this the best restaurant in Chinatown? No... but they do have a great lunch deal (great portion size for the price). Lots of options, too! You can tell it's not the best quality ever, but it's the type of Chinese food you might crave after a night out. The service and ambiance are fairly mediocre, but to be expected. Come by if you're looking for something a bit greasy and tasty.

I saw this place on a YouTube channel and had to try. They have the cheapest lunch specials in Chinatown ($7.95 and there so many choices). It was pretty good and we went here twice in a week. My favorites were the fish and veggies, beef chow fun ($9.95) and the tofu with veggies and gravy. Definitely bang for your buck... coming from LA, they don't have prices like these. We were lucky and found metered street parking. Service was ok... similar to any other place is Chinatown. If you're hangry and looking for a deal, come here.

Definitely a good spot to go for lunch if you're not trying to put a dent in your wallet lol For $7.95, you get to choose over 15+ dishes. $9.95 for noodle dishes. $2 extra for two dumplings or chicken fingers. $3 extra to replace white rice for fried rice. They recently just brought this lunch menu back. They had it pre covid but took it out because I'm sure of budget. I'm glad they decided to offer dumplings and chicken fingers now. I got the beef brisket with radish over white rice. It was mid. Wasn't horrible but also wasn't the best thing in the world. You really CANT complain when it's only $7.95 lol Overall with everything including tip, it costed me a little under $13 when dining in. CASH ONLY IF YOURE ORDERING OFF THE LUNCH MENU. Definitely would come back to get other dishes.

Got a little hungry after a measly meal earlier in the evening so I ventured out into Chinatown to find something quick. I wandered into this restaurant and the was a couple of tables with a couple groups that just beat me in. This is a very small restaurant and problem sits about 45 patrons. However scanning the menu I did find a couple dishes I was interested in so I opted for 2 dishes. I picked the beef lomein honk Kong style and a stir fried lister in sticky rice. The beef lomein was a disappointment, it had too much moisture. They add liquid to the lomein and it should have been a dry. The lobster and sticky rice was pretty good they did a good job on the stir fried glutinous rice but the lobster was a small weak lobster. The restaurant needs a good douching out, it's very dated and unkept. I would never bring a date here and the wait staff needs work with personality and needs to clean themselves up as well.

Be aware of the market price seafood, could be very expensive. The lobster with sticky rice is not that good and expensive, not worth it. The rice without any lobster flavor, and the lobster is not as good as any lobster dish alone. They would tell u the price are depend on the size of the lobster, meaning could cost $200 or more. They don't really answer until you meal is over

It's been a while since I've been to Chinatown for dinner. My mom wanted to go to New Golden Gate and I was down with that. This place is always packed, and fortunately, when we came in, we were able to get a seat right away. I let my mom decide what we would have for dinner and she had sensational choices. We started with some crispy baked squab. If you never had squab, it tastes similar to duck. This squab was not gamey and it was rich and very meaty. The skin was so crispy, which was my favorite part. I love eating seafood, and mom ordered the clams in black bean sauce, which was delicious. The clams were fresh and meaty, and the dish was super saucy. My favorite childhood thing to do is to have a bowl of rice with sauce all over it. I enjoyed very much the clams and my bowl of rice with the black bean sauce. And just to be virtuous, we got a plate of sautéed pea shoots. The dish came out pipping out and I nearly burned my tongue. There was a mountain of pea shoots (at $16 a dish, I better get a lot ) on that dish and I loved how much wok-hei it had. Also, it's my favorite veggie to order at most Chinese restaurants. I am a fan of this place and can't wait to go back.

The new golden gate is part of Chinatown history tracing back to its original days as the "golden gate". When they added the new, it wasn't quite the same but they still do one thing well, is cooking Chinese style roast beef. Other restaurants sell roast beef, but they don't do quite as good of a job. Chinese roast beef is sliced rib eye that is quickly seared in a wok with a brown sauce. You can customize it and have it over rice or in black bean sauce with pickled vegetables but my go to as pictured is roast beef and tomatoes chow mein in black bean sauce. It's something you wouldn't find on the menu but if you ask them to make it, well at least in Chinese as I've never tried in English, they'll be able to make it.

Better than expected. The roast duck was very good, and the family agreed that it was better than other places in Boston's Chinatown that supposedly specialize in roast duck. Sliced Pork with celery and fungus was probably the overall favorite dish. The ginger scallion lobster had pretty good flavor but as the lobsters were small, it was pretty hard to eat as most of the chopped up pieces were light on meat and heavy on the shell. The black pepper beef fillets were also another favorite. Great flavor, pretty good cut of beef for the price. Beef chow fun was meh. Kinda bland. The mapo tofu was an insult to the name and shouldn't even be called that as the flavor, to me, was totally wrong. Mapo tofu should be spicy with peppers/peppercorns. This was just tofu in salty gravy. The flavor and texture was nowhere close to what I was expecting. Granted, this is a vegetarian version which is already a bad sign. Anyways, don't get this dish.

This place has been around for decades. In fact it used to be just Golden Gate and it has been a staple of late night dining up until 4am. This is a truly authentic Cantonese Seafood restaurant with the focus on super fresh live from the tank seafood. High end items like Abalone and more is available and the chefs know how to operate the wok to near perfection. They do have a prime rib special that is one of a kind around here but be adventurous and try anything you see on the menu or on the special postings with pictures and price on the wall.

I have never been to any other restaurant where a server can scream at a customer with the manager watching and doing nothing. This goes beyond rudeness. The server was in an apparent rage - screaming at us with his face red and neck veins bulging. What triggered the rage? We asked to have all 6 members of our party to be seated at 2 tables next to each other. Even worse was when we called out his appalling behavior , the server screamed even louder that he did not care!!! This place needs a major reboot as in it needs to be put out of business. Unless you are a masochist, go somewhere else!!!!

I used to come here all the time and after they switched management, I haven't as the food went downhill. However, this time around, we went because there was no wait and was surprised how good the food tastes now. The food came out quickly and hot. The ingredients were fresh and prepared in perfection. I would definitely be coming back here more often going forward.

Recommended by the hotel and eat one of the few places open at midnight. It was surprisingly busy for that time of night, but was close to the theater district. Ordered Chinese Ravioli's, which were dumplings. Not sure what the meat inside was, but lets just say there were NONE left over. Also order a cashew nut shrimp. No rice was included, but it was MORE than enough to feed both of us with that and the dumplings. Not super fancy, but authentic and stop by if you can!

Ew. And rude. We got forks while everyone else got chopsticks bc we're white. Dirty table. Dirty teapot. Dirty forks. Bland food. Don't even step foot inside. There are sooooo many cleaner tastier spots steps away.

Crazy lunch special from 11am-3pm, 7.95 for a heaping portion of rice meat and vegetables. Can't get a meal for this cheap anywhere else anymore. I had the beef and string beans over rice and there was enough food for 2 people, came out fresh and good flavor. Would definitely be coming over again.

Ambiance: the waitstaff was a bit rude but that's how you know it's good dimsum. It was pretty easy to get seated, honestly there just weren't a lot of people inside so there was pretty much no wait. Food: ordered the siu mai, custard bun, congee, chang fen, pork bun, chicken feet, and hot and sour soup. Would recommend everything we ordered -- the dimsum was pretty authentic and flavored.

Usually not too busy and located right next to the Chinatown gate. The standout dish for me was the duck tongue. I can't remember exactly what the full name of the dish was, but the duck tongue was crispy, salty and sweet. The center was chewy, and the tip had a little bit of cartilage. Definitely take a look if you're in the area and in search for a late night snack!

Excellent Cantonese Seafood place with very tasty and well prepared standards I highly recommend them right on Beach st open till 4 AM 7 days a week. Chan is the man he saved me from getting a parking ticket.

Plenty of tables for small and big groups alike in this Chinatown gem of a restaurant. I visited with 5 other people and there was plenty of food leftover with its large portions. The menu is expansive and quite intimidating (there's a bit of everything-- meat, seafood, rice, casseroles, noodles) with pretty much all types of traditional Chinese, Cantonese, and other Asian foods offered. The servers do speak English, but it is best to come with someone who speaks Cantonese as they do not understand Mandarin well. Service was efficient and there were many servers around that we never has to flag someone down. Overall, we enjoyed a delicious and filling meal & would 100% come back for an authentic meal in Boston's Chinatown! We ordered: *scallion pancakes - good! *peking ravioli (aka fried dumplings) - yummy & comes with dipping sweet soy sauce *Imperial pork ribs - sweet ribs, perfect with rice! *salty rice with chicken & fish - honestly was hesitant to try this but it is so good & a great base to serve with the other dishes *singapore rice noodles - fried noodles with some sort of curry taste. Yummy!

Menu is sooo large couldn't really take all them pics however I notice they had a lunch menu we missed by just 10 min ,, the server was nice but couldn't really communicate well with us leaving us to chance in the selections how ever we had some delicious veggie rice and a side of wings , also some chicken egg rolls and hot tea , lots to see in China town wish I had more time there , this particular location wasn't busy at all at 3pm but had a large to go following the Togo phone was ringing of the hook and I hear the "peppered" shrimp is a popular thing ok have to bring someone with me next visit that can taste for me

This review is going to be for their late night service... And I mean LATE night. Possibly early morning. Which is awesome because this is one of the very very few restaurants in the Boston/Cambridge area which are open past midnight. After leaving a nearby club at 2am, 4 of us first tried going to Peach Farm, which is also in Chinatown. Unfortunately the line was a bit long so we came here instead. The place was pretty packed but we were seated immediately. They take credit card, and the menu is huge (similar to many generic Chinese restaurants which will have a big variety of poultry, seafood, beef, pork, rice, and noodle options). The fried rice was less than $10 which is so refreshing to see on a menu in Boston. We ordered the orange chicken and the beef fried rice. The orange chicken was crispy and had a nice kick to it. The citrus flavor was strong. The beef fried rice was pretty standard but it was seasoned nicely. The beef pieces were small but tender-- not dry at all. The servers continually refilled our water cups and were very quick with the service. Our food arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. I think this is a great place to go if you're eating with a picky crowd! Around 3am when we called an Uber to go home, the restaurant staff asked us if we wanted to sit at one of the empty tables to wait for our driver. It was completely unnecessary but I appreciated it!

Haven't eaten in Chinatown in awhile. But met up with friends before Good Friday service. Ordered flounder filet on dry fried fish rack, salt and pepper fried calamari, seafood tofu casserole, chicken and corn egg drop soup, roast beef cubes with Chinese string beans and kon sue yee mein for six. More than enough food. All fresh and enjoyed by all. Classic Cantonese and Toisanese flavors. Only complaint is that the roast beef was a little overdone. The whole flounder carcass was fried perfectly and enjoyed by the fingers and mouths of all. We got in early before it got really crowded.

This spot is a great place for families and friends to have a nice meal. The food is extremely cheap and the portions are big. The staff is attentive and very friendly. When I went there, I got the beef and eggs and walnut shrimp. The shrimp was perfect and had a great glaze and the beef was good too. The only complaint I had was that the beef was not seasoned too well and that the walnut shrimp had more broccoli than shrimp. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want an authentic Chinese experience in Chinatown.

TLDR: This restaurant offers authentic Chinese food, but it's pretty typical and there's nothing outstanding. I was only able to comment on the vegetable dishes, so who knows, maybe their seafood dishes are better considering that they are a seafood restaurant. * * * First time in Boston and first time here in this restaurant. I came here with some of my family and had dinner. Food: They have authentic Chinese dishes. Since it's my first time in Boston, I can't really compare to anything else in this area. However, the food is comparable to other Chinese family-style dining in Flushing, NY. There's a good selection of seafood, vegetable, and meat dishes. I can only comment on the vegetable dishes since I don't eat meat and seafood, but the vegetable dishes were okay. They were on the blander side, but the food overall was still okay. Service: It's pretty standard for Chinese restaurants. They serve you tea in the beginning and then you order dishes. Dishes take a while to prepare, but once after the wait, the rest of the dishes come out fairly quickly. Ambiance: Its comparable to other Chinese restaurants. Inside is bright and bigger tables have a lazy Susan. There's nothing too fancy. Price: It's comparable to the prices of Chinese restaurants that I've been to in Flushing and the rest of Queens area in New York. Seafood is obviously going to be more expensive whereas vegetable and meat dishes are less expensive. Overall, this restaurant offers authentic Chinese food, but it's pretty typical and there's nothing outstanding. I was only able to comment on the vegetable dishes, so who knows, maybe their seafood dishes are better coknsdiering that they are a seafood restaurant.

Best late night food in Chinatown, MA! Open till 4am, if you're craving a family style dinner - this is your spot. Highly recommend the beef chow foon, sautéed eggplant dish, and salt and pepper pork chops!

Food is trash stay away wouldn't even consider this as my last option unfortunately fried chicken was cooked in old oil and was dam near burnt

Go to spot for the family takeout. $100+ cash paid orders get you a free lobster, stir fried scallion ginger flavored or deep fried. Walnut shrimp, sweet and sour pork, longevity noodles, scallion pancakes, salt and pepper squid, sauteed peapod stems, chicken with ginger and scallion, seafood and tofu in pot, and silver fish stir fried with vegetable are good. Don't recommend the seafood chow mein. Instead of the usual fresh seafood with large shrimp, scallop, squid pieces, it was tiny seafood from frozen. There's a beef and tofu rice dish that's not bad but order it if you're feeling the combo. The restaurant smells it's age. Pick up is quick but double check your order because I've had an instance they gave away our order and had to track down the last customer to rectify the situation...

What I ordered is not what I got. The customer service was horrible. The noodles were burned. I ordered chow mein and got food that was less than satisfying. Zero stars wild be given if there was a choice.

This rather unassuming looking restaurant may very well be a hidden gem of Boston's Chinatown. My husband and I were recently visiting for the first time, and we were truthfully overwhelmed by the number of options. We sort of picked this one at random, as it was conveniently located, had a menu with prices posted outside, and looked to be clean. Upon entering, the restaurant is really nothing special to look at. But, in my experience visiting Chinatowns in other cities, is usually a good sign indicating that they provide quality food rather than a tourist-friendly "show" to distract from the food. The menu is quite expansive. I would assume that almost anyone could find something they liked. Being that there were so many options, I went with the old standby of General Gau's chicken (aka General Tso's or General Zao's), and it was delicious. My husband got the fried noodles with shrimp, which was a unique dish not exactly as we expected, but still great. We also shared an order of crab rangoon, which were spectacular. In addition to the taste of the food, the portions were enormous and quite a great value for around $10-14/plate. We had enough left over for a decent dinner in the hotel later that night. The service was also very nice. We didn't have a hard time getting what we needed. Also, the food came very quickly after ordering. Tip: Dine before 3:00 to take advantage of their lunch specials!

Food wise, this is a 3ish star rating. But this 1 star is really for my most recent experience. FYI: do NOT sit in the back corner of the restaurant (the other corner, opposite side of the fish tank). Consider yourself warned. Let's talk food first. I've had family dinners here before, its the typical asian restaurant in Chinatown. You come here for comfortish food. Typically, my family orders some veggies, some seafood and some rice dish. This time, we ordered a whole fish, which we typically ask them to steam/stir fry the meat. The heads we ask them to make soup with tofu and veggies (which they do charge you extra for). But nothing goes to waste, this one fish ended up being about 3-4 dishes for us (each charged separately). This is all comfort food, didn't go wrong, solid Canto food. Now let's get to the EXCITING part: We've been served all our dishes (minus the dessert soup, which comes at the end end). We're probably 20-30 minutes away from packing up and leaving, this is when I felt a drop of water hit me. You would assume its AC airvent water or something but it gets worse :) (They have mini splits so no vents) I look up and I see some dried water mark, so definitely NOT the first time they've had some type of water leak. One drop turns into many drops, this is when the we started getting attention from the ENTIRE restaurant. Everyone stares as multiple drops become STREAMS of water. Employees bring BUCKETS to contain the BROWN water. Next thing you know, the corner we're sitting is FLOODED. As we all do in 2022, everyone in the restaurant including myself, whip out our phones to record ;) We suspected that its toilet water lol bc thats a likely possibility. The owner says this loud enough for the restaurant to hear "its NOT toilet water, its SINK water from washing VEGGIES". Now we all know thats unlikely because there's no restuarant upstairs and what are the chances of this brown water coming from veggies. As we packed up and left, staff gave us our dessert soup in take out containers, told us to take it and dip. Then we hear the same owner on the phone screaming "Hey! Your toilet is leaking AGAIN. I thought you installed a new toilet recently and said this wasn't going to happen again" And folks, we have confirmation :)

Well fed for a hungry group of 5, every dish was delicious. During lunch, we ordered lobster, prawn, beef, clam, fried rice, and veggie dish (see pics). Service was very attentive, prob because we came right after the lunch rush. Go for the food, true hole in wall experience in heart of Chinatown

Visited this restaurant again when we were in Boston. Pre-ordered the chicken stuffed with sticky rice ($46) this time. Honestly, I actually preferred the regular sticky rice dish which is only $13. We ordered lamb chop and the dish had a really funky smell, definitely will not order this again here. The highlight dish was the pepper pig stomach soup, really peppery. The soft shell crab was really good. Since we ordered over $100, we got a lobster free and it was delicious too. In general, the dishes were quite oily. If you are concerned about social distance, then come here during non peak hours or takeout.

Ordered take out during the pandemic and definitely my last time there. I ordered six dishes as followed: -Peking Pork Chop -Salt and Pepper Pork Chop -String beans with beef -Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings -Lamb with pepper -Onion/Veggies The peking pork was drowned in sauce. The salt and pepper port chops were rock hard and barely chewable. The salt and pepper chicken wings were way too over fried and looked like it was molding. GROSS! The string beans were way too over cooked and soggy. I did not eat the lamb or onion veggies so I don't have much to say, but my family does not have anything good to say about these dishes. It is a really small restaurant. Pro is that they take cards and not just cash like these other small mom and pop restaurants in Chinatown. I do not recommend....

disrespectful, went there before they closed, and they wouldn't serv me, i then asked for chopsticks, the guy looked at me, laughed and then said no, as if Im not good enough to get chopsticks

Fast Chinese food . I got the mayo shrimp. It was kind of burnt. Tasted okay to me. Fried rice was so basic. There was nothing special about it. Pretty pricy for this food. Bill came to $34 and portion size was small. Won't be back

Ordered take out today! they said it would take about 20 minutes, but it took about 40 min, not a big deal at all though but just a consideration if you're in a rush. We ordered the fish head with garlic and onion. This was pretty ok, although the fish was a little overcooked. The flesh was chewy and rubbery. also the skinny was soggy. We were also super surprised it didn't come with white rice? usually entrees that aren't rice or noodles come with white rice. 2nd dish was Mapo's tofu. This was a good dish. It was the perfect level of spicy! It had a very familiar taste, it tasted similar to hot and sour soup. Also surprised this dish did not come with white rice. 3rd dish was beef chow fun. This was delicious! the beef was perfectly cooked and tender. the sauce was flavorful and savory. The noodles were very tasty with the sauce. Also it had some vegetables mixed in which was needed for that bite of green! This was our favorite dish. Lastly we got the chicken fried rice. Pretty standard CFR. nothing to rave about. The price was amazing though. for 4 orders and white rice, total was around 46$. Love affordable authentic Chinese Food. Will return!

New Golden Gate will be my lunch go-to when I'm passing through Chinatown! I ordered a lunch special (beef with string beans and pork fried rice, with egg drop soup on the side) over the phone with ease, and it was ready when I got there. The restaurant had provided napkins and a plastic fork and spoon, but the woman at the counter was very nice and gave me chopsticks when I asked for them. Another thing to note is that the takeout containers are just foam, so they are liable to leak, but the restaurant packs everything neatly upright and ties the bag in a way that keeps everything together, so I didn't have any issues with leakage despite carrying a lot of other stuff. When I opened up my food to eat, I was shocked by the amount that there was for just $6.40. There was probably 3 or 4 servings of rice, and maybe 2 servings of meat packed in there. I was also pleasantly surprised by the egg drop soup, which was the normal pale yellow-white color and tasted like home-made egg drop soup, rather than the thick, bright yellow kind restaurants sometimes serve. I enjoyed eating the pork fried rice with the egg drop soup, along with the beef and string beans. There wasn't a ton of pork in the fried rice, so it was a good accompanying dish, but the pieces of meat were each good and not fatty. The string beans and beef were also very tasty, and by the time I was full and ready to go catch my bus, it hardly looked like I had eaten at all! However, I had finished all of the soup and definitely ate a good amount of rice, beef, and string beans, but there was still somehow a ton of food left. I ended up sharing the leftovers with my parents as part of our dinner (supplemented by some other food), and there was more than enough rice to go around, which should give a sense of just how much food there was. I'll definitely come back here for a tasty lunch and leftovers I can look forward to across a couple meals. I also want to try dining in to try their other dishes! I would recommend New Golden Gate for a lot of tasty food at a great price :)

New Golden Gate is another one of those late night, classic Chinatown spots that excel in authentic Cantonese seafood but misses the mark in service for those who are uninitiated. Honestly, half the reviews that are negative here only talk about the service (which in my experience was not bad at all), but if you came for AUTHENTIC food - then you are in the right place. I drove two hours just to try this place after my sister had sent pictures of their raw geoduck sashimi dish that brought fond memories of childhood for me. The best part about eating with my sister and cousin is that we don't let the wallet get in the way and order everything we wanted to try so the breakdown is below (mind you we finished everything as well): Raw Geoduck Sashimi (5/5): Served thinly sliced over ice and with soy sauce and wasabi, this dish was exactly how I remembered at Chinese weddings. They even presented the live geoducks to us beforehand for our approval. For those not in the know, geoducks (pronounced gooey-ducks), are large clams native to Washington state and are in no way, shape or form, related to actual ducks. :) Salt and Pepper Fried Geoduck Belly (5/5): In typical fashion, they batter and fry the parts of the geoduck that can not be eaten raw. This is done in the usual Canto fashion with a nice, softer batter and garnished with hot peppers. Delicious! Minced Crab and Fish Maw Soup (5/5): This is another common dish served at weddings, very similar to an what Americans would call egg drop soup. Make sure to ask for the red vinegar to mix in with the broth! They do not skimp on the crab meat here, and as a result, this soup is filled to the brim with that crab essence. Roast Duck (4/5): Typical duck that you would see hanging in the Chinatown restaurant windows. While they achieved a nice crunch to the skin, there was not a lot of meat and it was on the oily side. Clams and Vermicelli served on the Half-Shell (4/5): This was another unique dish that I had to try. The clams were cooked just right so that they were not too chewy and adding the vermicelli was a darn good idea. I just couldn't help but feel like they were bribing us with sesame oil for this dish again. Canadian Crab with Sticky Rice (4/5): This is another classic dish typically served at weddings. New Golden Gate did this right, and the freshness of the crab clearly was evident. Stir Fried Watercress (3/5): Typical stir fried watercress dish, flavor was decent, but way too much oil for my taste. In summary, come here for an authentic experience, but don't be surprised when you do not get the level of service typical of fine dining establishments. It also helps to bring a Cantonese or Mandarin speaker!

Your typical Chinese restaurant to go to after a club. Once it hits 2AM on a Friday, the restaurant will get packed. Not too shabby considering everything tastes delicious after a long night of drinking. Typical things to order: Crab rangoons Fish maw soup with crab meat Fried calamari House fried rice Mayo Shrimp

One of the best beef teriyaki around! Tender meat, tasty flavor. Staff is friendly. Family run business.

This review is only for their take out HOLY SMOKES $4.95 for LUNCH?! You can't beat those prices! It's available Monday - Friday 11 - 3 though. I ordered 3 items off their menu on a Monday because my family was craving some quick easy Chinese Food. We got the 8 Delight Crispy Noodle, Beef and Vegetable Chow Fun, and Seafood Crispy Noodle. It only took 15 minutes for them to get it ready and the food was delicious! They were all huge portions for the price, which only came down to $15! My only complaint is that the crispy noodles weren't crispy and was kinda soft and soggy. Note that if you want any sauces, plates, or silverware with your takeout, you have to ask.

OMGoodness! I'm so disappointed with their food! I haven't eaten there in a long time so I thought why not. But why not make your food decent? I ordered off the lunch menu for the first time. Of course it's not priced as nice as it used too before inflation/pandemic.. anyway, I ordered two dish and added the sides of chicken fingers and the ravioli ... mind you, they are fried foods and should stay crispy crunchy but I discovered it inside my boxes with with steams! I wanted to cry because I hate hate inconsiderate mindless thinkers to act like they don't care. And I hate soggy fried foods. Okay, another thing is "be warned" the foods all are bland and tasteless!!! I WASTED MONEY and that's upsetting.

This is hands down one of my favorite Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown! They serve a variety of stir fry dishes. My favorite is the thing here is their ginger and scallion twin lobster. The prices are reasonable and portion is pretty generous. Although this place is a little cramped, I don't mind sacrificing space for good Chinese food. The dishes here have "wok hei" which is flavor and tastes imparted by a hot wok on the dishes during stir frying, and is important for those Chinese dishes! The lobster is always very fresh and delicious. It is cooked perfectly, they lightly batter and fry the lobster. Then they coat it with delicious sauce and ginger and scallion. The best part is actually the sauce because it has all the lobster flavors! Some other dishes that I like are the clams in black bean sauce and salt baked chicken. They also have set menu for party of 2, 4, 6, and 8. is also a good option! They have a variety of dishes from their menu and the good thing is you don't have to pick and decide what to order since the menu is set!

Always get take-outs from them. 2 very consistent dishes - 1) Beef chow foon without beam sprouts 2) Vegan bittermelon with black bean sauce and rice. $16 for these 2 generous portion dishes, good deal.
