I visited New Haven Green, I was totally blown away! This place is such a vibe—right in the heart of New Haven, it’s a beautiful open space with so much history. The green is surrounded by stunning old trees and historic buildings, making it the perfect spot to chill, take a walk, or just soak in the atmosphere. I loved how it felt like a little oasis in the city, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot with a lot of charm, New Haven Green is a must-visit.

Decent size park located in the hearth of the downtown area of the city. 1st time visiting this city and wanted was one of my last stops.

New Haven Green is a 16 acre green space located in downtown New Haven. Surrounding it is the hustle and bustle of the city. There are beautiful historic architecture everywhere you look when you're standing in the Green. It was built in 1638 and is the location for many events and festivals, in the past and present. There are three historic churches located there. Also, it is one of the oldest town green in the U.S. It was even used as a cemetery back in the day and the bodies are still buried there, but the headstones were removed. My family and I enjoyed walking through. There were many benches and there were plenty of walkways throughout. Also, they now have wifi if anyone wants to work remotely from here or have a picnic. I'm a fan of historic places and this place definitely has a rich history.

Downtown New Haven Green is absolutely gorgeous—a beautiful spot for a Sunday stroll, a peaceful sit, or simply soaking in that charming New England vibe. Just a note: you may encounter some houseless individuals, some of whom may be dealing with mental health challenges. They’re generally harmless, but it’s always good to stay aware and be respectful of the shared space.

The New Haven Green at DWNTWN New Haven is really cool. Lots of green and friendly to all New Havenites. Take a seat on one of the benches or just plop down in the middle of the Green and enjoy the sounds of the water fountain. Sometimes there are concerts and such. If this doesn't work for you then take BUS 261 to the Milford Mall or the BUS 212U to Target / Best Buy / Dick's & BJs (always a lot of fun if you have a couple dollars to spare)

New Haven Green is a pretty good place to enjoy views of downtown New Haven or go for a stroll, but it is also very messy.

Plenty of parking, quick walk, just checking out the Cherry Blossoms before the bloom is over.

Love New Haven green events. Wish there were many more of them. The tables and chairs are nice by the fountain and flags. The drug scene is sad and vast though.:-( I am glad to see mobile showers and food distributed to homeless persons by community agencies at times as well.

Yelp
The town didn't have an enormous amount of greenery, but I was pleased to find this central square which was large and open save for a historic building in the middle. It offered no real services or facilities and only a modicum of seating areas, and so felt more like a thoroughfare than a place you'd stop for any length of time.

Yelp
I love parks. Well maintained. Just some homeless and addicts roaming around and as usual, thrashing the place and taking up the whole bench. See images for further reference.

Yelp
Nice area to walk through and maybe sit to enjoy company with another over some coffee. Plenty of food options near by to enjoy. Does have homeless around of course but they seem to be nice and innocent for the most part.

Yelp
I visited New Haven Green almost every single day that I was in Connecticut for a walk. The park is beautiful and when the sun goes down, you can see so many fire flies. It was my first time seeing them and I was in awe! The park is very big, open, and it has huge trees. It's full of people either running, jogging, walking their dogs or having picnics in the grass. The one thing I did notice is that there were no bees, flies or anything. It was just an extremely well taken care of park. It's right across the street from Yale University and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Guys this is such an iconic part of New Haven I just had to review. Essentially when I arrived I thought this was *the* place to be, since it's so central on the map - but in reality, apparently it's used by drug addicts and a place to somewhat avoid especially during the evening/night! It's always busy and bustling from day to evening, and I never had any problems here when I walked across it. And still looks pretty with the green grass and nearby church with bells ringing occasionally :)

Yelp
Large quad-like spaces full of greenery, big trees and beautiful churches - this park is so pretty and comes quite in handy to just sit down and appreciate the day when you are tired from absorbing all the art in this artistic small town. Would love to return when it's sunny or when it's full of snow to really appreciate its beauty, like all the reviews suggest.

Yelp
Great spot. 1) I enjoyed walking around the area. 2) The churches look amazing. 3) Tons of stuff to do around the area.

Yelp
Under appreciated is what comes to mind when I see an average of just over three stars! New Haven residents may not realize how good they have it! Not every city has an enchanting green space in the heart of downtown. In the warmer months, a bench on the New Haven green is best shared with fries and a milkshake from Shake Shack. There are Yale freshmen to watch in their awkward orientations. In the colder months there is a big glowing tree to brighten the days and nights of green-goers. Kids frolic in the snow. In all seasons the green affords a small dose of exercise- just the right amount- after a matineé or afternoon at the museum, before its time for dinner. Count your blessings, New Haven! Your historic grand green is a beautiful thing.

Yelp
When it's warm, there's a lot of "urban campers". That's a phrase I've copyrighted which means homeless people. It's not funny really and I wish the City of New Haven would have more outreach programs to help those in need. I've been out walking my dog in 30 degree temperature at night and saw people sleeping on the benches. During the day, you have the usual business people walking about, Yale students eating lunch and punk kids / emo kids skateboarding by the fountain. It might be a good spot for people watching if you have the free time.

Yelp
Nice area. Very safe actually. (Yes, this is contrary to others' safety concerns re: this area, which may be due to stereotypes/prior assumptions making others think it's unsafe.) Look up the crime report here; it's a lot safer than other New Haven spots in the area. It's a great feeling to bike pass the New Haven Green when you're going from Yale to the Downtown New Haven. It's nice and peaceful!

Yelp
You know, I really had no idea what to expect when I showed up for the Salt n Pepa show on the green this weekend. I easily found parking a short walk from the park in the Temple Street garage, and then headed over to the park. There were several streets blocked off and officers directing traffic, but it didn't have a significant impact of car or foot traffic. I got to the green an hour before the show and found a pretty great spot that fit eight of us. There were food trucks lining one street, and the city had set up temporary water foundations, which I'd never seen before, but seriously, great idea. The concert itself was a really great time, and even with people totally boozing it up on the lawn, it still remained orderly and fun. There was a heavy police presence, but no one was raining on our dancey, intoxicated parade in any way. The officers were all actually really nice, which says a lot. I will definitely visit the green again and again for shows because I had such a wonderful experience. Thanks for showing me a good time, New Haven!

Yelp
Seems perfect from the view I get looking out from my apartment window but when you actually go out and visit the park, it seems a bit busy with a lot of people and onlookers (chapel street side). There's a Christmas tree in the middle distal segment that recently got up so you get that picturesque holiday vibe from a distance. I notice a lot of weekend events which were actually quite interesting and fun to participate in. I can't wait for full-blown winter since I assume this park is gonna look even more wonderful.

Yelp
You gotta love the New Haven green. It's right in the middle of all the action in the city. It's across from the courthouse on one side, and Starbucks on the other side. The green offers tons and tons of free concerts and shows. I remember seeing Blue's Traveler here for free in 2006. It was an incredible time. It's sometimes a bit shady late at night and early in the morning. There are usually about 40 people waiting for the bus at any given time.

Yelp
Couple sketchy people but interesting historic buildings and nice green space

Yelp
This place is really beautiful during the spring and summer. However I don't really like to come here. It can get dangerous in the evenings and at night and there's quite often a lot of trash on the green. Sometimes a walk-through because it's a shortcut to get places I want but I don't find myself too much here on my own.

Yelp
Nice quiet spot across from Yale. I did the Labor Day half marathon which user the Green as race HQ so I didn't see druggies or homeless people. It is a nice oasis in the center of town, and fairly large. I enjoyed it!

Yelp
This place is great, for taking a walk, jog, having a picnic lunch, watching a performance (various types being done all the time, especially during the warm months)!! Parking can be a little hard, but worth it!

Yelp
Pleasant. Lots of areas to chill. Some benches are taken. Others are for IV drug use. But hey all that aside, what a space! Green grass. Big trees. Some churches. Roads and walkways everywhere. Diggin it.
