Ok. Been coming here since my daughter was a freshman at Hope in 2011. The once constant is the service is horrible. Doesn't matter. Sit at the bar or table, the are trained in ignoring you. It is a difficult skill, but they have perfected it here. 14 years of poor service has to be a record.
Does management train this? They must. I mean, you sit down and you can count on 10 + minutes of wait time before they even acknowledge you. And this is at the bar.
Came back again today for the first time in a few years and was shocked that nothing changed. I came in this afternoon and the cool dude in the bandana ignored me for at least 10 minutes. The best thing was there were only 2 people at the bar, a waitress who was cute and off from her shift and me. I actually sat closer to her since muscle memory kicked in and I saw where his attention was and the Tigers were on down there and I wanted to watch that. Yet I'd waited another 10 minutes for him to acknowledge me. He eventually served me and (the only reason I give this place 2 stars is the beer is great) my beer was outstanding.
Took another 10 minutes after I finished to get a check. Yes 1 and done since I had other things to do. I decided Cash would be best since it would be forever to get him to do a cc. This was all with an empty bar.
But wait! It only gets better. Like an idiot, I left Our Brewery and came here since I really love the Dragon Milk. So stupid! Sat down at a semi empty bar. I was ignored, since that is policy here for at least 10+ minutes. Don't worry, I loved watching whatever stupid chef program was on...no seriously love that crap...NOT. Finally, after the bartender (female now) completely ignored me, I just said "Hey, I want a Dragon's Milk. She stopped and asked what size. I told here and was temporarily happy.
10 oz. Goes down quickly and 15 minutes later I wanted something else. Once again the incredible waiting game. Back and forth she walked to other customers and ignored me (and I am a big tipper for big service). Finally I had to just shout out my order. She informed me it was last call in 30 minutes, so I said, "just 1."
Got my beer. Now it is 30 minutes later and all I want to do is pay.
Please dear Lord, remind me of this the next time I am in Holland! Only buy their beer in the store. The frustration is not worth it.
I am a really nice person and not a dick, but this just sets me off. Our from now on.
