New Hunan Restaurant

Stopped here for dinner. They have a buffet, or you can order from a menu. Since this was my first visit, I chose to do the take-out buffet to try several items. Overall, food was good. The buffet items seemed to be emptied frequently.

Greeted by the koi fish, my first time in the restaurant had begun. The staff were polite and the food was good. Although I realize the buffet is the big draw here, I opted for a beef and noodle dish with pot stickers as an appetizer. I was pleased with both, although the noodles seemed a bit dry(?). Overall, it's a great option in a relatively small town!

Great owners and employees! Food is great buffet is always fresh and can’t beat it over all the fast food the town has! Really a great business in town.

Cute little buffet. Choices were very limited, but what was available was tasty. Hostess pointed at a table from across the room and said, "Go ahead and take that one." She was nice though.

The restaurant was freezing cold inside- everyone including workers were wearing coats. Thus the plates were icy cold. As soon as you put the hot food on the cold plate your food gets cold fast. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink. The food wasn’t great but it was good enough. But we won’t try it again. Sorry.

Something I frequently feel nostalgic for when traveling is the Chinese/American style buffet I remember from my childhood in Texas. Whenever I am back state-side, I will usually search one out with varying success. Today, I was pleasantly surprised to find this spot in rural Montana. The buffet itself is quite small, but they had exactly what I was looking for and very nostalgic flavors. When I arrived, it was late lunch, and there were not many diners there, but the staff were diligently filling the buffet. Every item that I tried was piping hot and fresh. The gentleman who was serving was so friendly and kind to the other patrons, which gave the place a pleasant atmosphere. The price is also very reasonable and a good value. I recommend stopping by if you are in the area, and giving this establishment some support because they are doing a great job!

I haven't had Chinese food in years because of my husband's allergies, so I have gone twice now alone. They have a small buffet, but it has great tasting food!

Service was horrible! They greet you from the back room and hardly cleared off our table. The waitresses never came back to our table to ask us if we needed anything else. But was sure to bring the ticket shortly after we sat down to eat. The buffet was not that great, took for ever to refill the food when empty. And the food didnt taste that great.

Very friendly, they were able to make an off menu item for me Mongolian Chicken, a wonderful traditional Chinese buffet and restaurant!

Best Chinese buffet I've had in a long time. The food is almost always piping hot and super fresh out of the pan. Really rich and delicious recipes too. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is little but nice. Decent variety for the size of the restaurant too. Never had a bad meal from here

I've been craving good Chinese food for a while,New Hunan did not disappoint. They graciously delivered it to the hotel across the street. The food is delicious and even though it was delivery, it was piping hot!

About once every three years, the urge to do Chinese buffet grows to great, and I try one out. Then I remember for the next three years why I only do it once every the years. That's how long it takes to forget. As Chinese buffets go, this was good. Ish. Nice variety, pretty clean and tidy. If you LIKE Chinese buffet, you'll like this. More expensive than the last one, but three years... who knows what a fair price is in 2023?

We arrived approximately 5 minutes before the evening buffet was ready. They took our drink order and asked us to wait. (No problem) Their food was tasty however; EVERYTHING was just warm; not HOT. I like my food hot & especially my soup! The Teriyaki Chicken on a stick, their pot stickers, and egg rolls were very yummy, but would have really been good if they had all been hot. I'm not sure why food at a restaurant, and especially on a buffet, would ever be just warm?????????? The servers were polite, but we did have to ask for drink refills twice. Disappointed

The buffet was limited to a few choice. I've never been to a buffet before that you could not take a full helping or the person in back you of would not get any. You could make out a meal just not with your favorites.

Pretty disappointed! I feel they really take advantage of being the only Chinese place around. And this seriously reflects in their pricing. A carry out order for 2 was in the mid $30 range with tip. Even for COVID pricing that's a bunch of horse sh!t. So based on the Chinese Food pricing model I made up for this review, one would figure you're getting a boatload of food, right!?! Nope! Two mediocre sized carry out containers that once plated, barely made one portion each. Probably a good $10 less of food than you would expect. To top it all off, the food wasn't spectacular. My Lo-mein was overly oily, with ONE shrimp and a few slices of chicken/beef and a couple of shreds of veggies. Rest, 95% noodles. The other dish, was made up of about the same percentage rice and little bits of chicken. And all of it tasted extremely generic and un-special. This place will need some serious re-vamp for me to want to return. And some consideration needs to be taken when it comes to cost, as this place is NOT a good value and is only one new Chinese Restaurant in M.C. away from being obsolete.

The food was good. I was super impressed with takeout. The owners put it in the box and even gave me plates and silverware as I was staying in a hotel. I would come back here again and again.

Super clean and nice looking restaurant. The staff was absolutely lovely and very attentive. They didn't bug you every second but they made sure to keep our drinks full. BUT MY FAVORITE PART WAS THE POTSTICKERS! They had hugeeeee potstickers, super juicy, flavorful, and just perfect! The food was hot and fresh. We didn't do the buffet but instead ordered food, not disappointed at all. We used all the dumpling sauce and they gave us more for our rice. Definitely stopping in again to try their buffet

After a long, hot day, I chose this restaurant because it was across the street from my hotel. Maybe it was the day of the week or the time, about 6:30 p.m. but I thought the buffet was really picked over and I saw only one dish replenished in the 30 minutes I was there. The fried rice, potstickers and egg drop soup were good. I didn't try the rest because I didn't want to scrape the bottom of the pan. The kimchi was really spicy. The service was friendly. I would try this place again.

Not to be missed! Honestly the best mushroom beef I have ever had! I have been to hundreds of authentic Chinese restaurants around the country while in the military. Rivals the best I have had in Sacramento, Los Angeles and Seattle. The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is outstanding! If you like a buffet, it was fresh and clean and looked tempting. My new favorite!

My wife and I ordered 2 bowls wonton soup and hot tea instead of doing the buffet. Big mistake soup was disgustingly Terrible had to wait for them to make it Gave us a bill for $22.95. I said what!! Owner rude said we charged the same as if you had the buffet. And we don't take discover card. Very surprised and disappointed

Delicious, as always!! We ate buffet which was hot and delicious. A nice variety of Chinese food and a nice big salad bar where all the fruit and veggies were very fresh!

We had amazing vegetable fried rice and lo-Mein. They have a simple but effective COVID protocol. We will definitely eat there again when traveling through.

Had a chance to stop again and this time I ate off the evening buffet. I was amazed by the selection and the food was very good. They made sure it was kept fresh and clean at the buffet. Very happy with the service and another great meal.

This restaurant has a great buffet but I have ordered carry out a few times lately and have to say I love it even more!

The Comfort Inn recommended this restaurant during my stay and I'm glad I took their advice! The staff was very nice and quick. I ordered to go and my food did not disappoint! We got orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken and it was so hot and fresh! It also came with plenty of rice, eggrolls, and fresh Chinese donuts. Seriously one of the best take out Chinese food places I've ever had, and I didn't think I'd say that about anything in Montana! Highly recommend!

We were staying at the hotel across the road and decided to eat here for dinner. Our party of 2 adults and two children under 6 paid $42! There was a variety of food but for a buffet was not worth $42. $10 a person and my 3 year old ate rice and jello. The food was mediocre at best. I think we agreed the Butter Shrimp and Crab wontons were the only thing we'd ever consider getting again.

Tried because it was across the parking lot from our hotel and after 600 miles, we were tired and hungry. I'm never a fan of buffets but it was cheaper than the menu items so I tried it. The butter shrimp had lots of breading and little or even no shrimp which was also the same for the sweet & sour pork. The sesame chicken was ok but the egg roll and fried rice were the best items. Didn't try the soup but the egg drop looked good. My husband got the beef and broccoli as soon as they put it out and it did have large pieces of beef. Staff was nice and owner was friendly and funny.

1. Decor etc. looking for a romantic evening out? Keep looking. If you want decent Chinese in Montana, this is a good bet. 2. Service. Appalling, as others have said. However, I'm pretty sure this is because much of the staff speaks Cantonese and not English. When I asked for a take-out menu, they sent the kid to find a translator. So very nice, but not liable to check on you. 3. Food. We had the buffet because our kids were about to gnaw their arms off. The buffet was decent: hot table with a mix of Americanized Chinese plus a couple of interesting extras. Bland food (lemon chicken, lo mein, etc) was appropriately bland. Spicy food (General Tso's) had some actual spice. VEGGIES WERE FRESH. Kids couldn't get enough beef with broccoli. They refilled it twice while we were there. Spring rolls were surprisingly good. Buffet also had cold table with fresh fruit, condiments, etc. plus homemade doughnut bites. My daughter: "they don't taste like doughnuts, but they're tasty!" In summary, the buffet served our needs but having seen the menu (see pics) I wish we'd ordered. There are some neat sounding dishes! 4. Location. Directly across parking lot from Comfort Inn. Ie perfect! We'll be back!!!

Food was very hot and tasty. Had the Mandarin special, which was plenty for two people. Hot and sour soup very good same with the egg drop soup. Nice simple place. Spring rolls very hot and satisfying. Yummy

Wasn't expectimg authinticity on my way to Culbertson MT for a memorial.On a whim we decided to stop here. Unassuming exterior gives way to a traditional experience once you take your seat from within. OK so some of the "spicy dishes" are on the mild side. Easily remedied with this staff. They are familiar with California to New York Taiwan to Ireland palettes. This is the little red restaurant that "thinks it can, thinks it can"

I love this place, little pricey but you get what you pay for. Great family friendly restaurant and they have delivery. Can't go wrong with fried rice and the broccoli beef.

I just ate here, the food was ok, but not much of a selection. I probably wouldnt stop here again. For the price they charge there should be more shrimp or something on the buffet.

Stop in here as I was driving past tonight. Overall the food was pretty good for an all-you-can-eat restaurant in a small town. I have definitely ate at far worse restaurants and bigger cities. That being said some of the courses were a little bit dried out, like they had been sitting out for a while. And food selection was somewhat Limited once again that is part of being in a small town. I couldn't decide on a three or a four star so I went with a four star so that others would know it was a decent place to eat. I would stop here again on my way back through sometime.

For a buffet it has to be pretty average to get a 3 star from me. With that being said I gave it 2 stars cause it didn't wow me in any way. The taste was not quite up to average. The best thing they had, taste wise, was the fried rice. If I was to return to Miles City I would not come back to eat here.

The food was cold and the chicken and broccoli was slimy I would not recommend this place to anyone

Stuck at a hotel overnight, so we decided to get asian food delivered to us. It's great that they delivered, but it was waaaaaay overpriced for subpar food. I'd skip it next time.

Limited selection buffet, when we arrived several dishes were empty, but they prompted refilled them so the food was hot and fresh. Don't expect to have a huge selection like some of the mega buffets. They had about 12 options, several appetizers, fried rice and noodles, small salad bar & some fruit and desserts. Nice variation of chicken, beef & seafood. Everything tasted good & very reasonably priced.

This is the place for authentic Chinese dish in Miles City The food is very good and the servings are huge. The buffet is more than adequate and offer a good variety of Asiatic food. What can I say; good food, good service, price accordingly and conveniently located. They do deliver if you wish to stay home

Delicious Chinese Food, Buffet Style. We were not disappointed! All kinds of food from Beef Broccoli to Shrimp...yum! Especially the sugar donuts and vanilla pudding I had for dessert. The people working there looked like they were family. They were very friendly.

Walked in at 7:30 and they had no one working the front. Waited a few minutes and sat down at a table. Waited a few more minutes then decided to leave. Took a walk by the buffet though and it really wasn't anything overly impressive that I'd be missing out on though.

Went here because it was right across from hotel. It is a buffet, but the selections were very limited. Plus, the buffet cost more than a dish of food and you can bring the leftovers home with a dish. So, we ordered the garlic chicken and Mongolian chicken. Both dishes were good, but the waitress doesn't even know the menu. After the cook brought out the food, the server only stopped by the drop off the check. She never asked how things were and we had to bring our cup up to her for a refill. Bad experience dining in, but the food is good.

I'm not a big fan of buffet food however the food was very good with multiple options to choose from. While I didn't order from their extensive menu it was hard not to notice an excessive amount of take out food leaving the restaurant which clearly signifies good authentic food.

This place is actually decent for a Chinese restaurant in the middle of Montana. The buffet has some nice selection, this is the only place around this area that serves spicy Chinese pickled cabbage. Worth a try!

Tons of sugar. Not good...unless Asian food from a strip mall food court sounds good to you.

The buffet is a great value & the mains are worth the wait. Best option for a chinese fix in the area.

The food at the restaurant is very good! I haven't eaten there since the had the other owners. It was good before, but now its excellent! The people working are also super nice and easy to get along with! Ive haven't ever had a single complaint, so keep it up!

I saw that the restaurant was open again, so I thought I would give it a try. The fried rice was moist and very flavorful. The buffet had a large selection of wonderfully prepared food. Not only was the food delicious, the service was great and the price was more than fair. It was a nice dining experience. Thank you.

Great food and super friendly service! They even gave us plates, forks and napkins for our takeout order. Something we didn't think about but since we were traveling thru we definitely. Needed them!
