5 Restaurants That Serve Peking Duck in Boston’s Chinatown | Eater Boston

"Like most of the other restaurants serving Peking duck in Chinatown, New Jumbo Seafood serves its version two ways: crispy skin with pancakes, and duck meat stir-fried with vegetables. At $40, it’s the best deal of the bunch. New Jumbo Requires two hours advance notice for diners hoping to eat Peking duck." - Terrence Doyle

There are 3 things that are consistent here 1. Good and authentic Canto food 2. Bad service 3. Rude owner (the lady at the front desk), unless you are one of her regular. I asked if I could look at the menu while I waited to be seated. Her reply ‘NO, sigh and walked away. We waited 15 minutes for a table which confused me because there were multiple empty tables inside. The rest of my guests show up after I was seated. The owner happened to walked by and recognized one of my guest because “he is a regular”. She walked toward my guest and said let me give you this table instead, it is bigger and roomier. What?! She could have give me that table instead of making me wait. Then she walked away like I didn’t exist. As for food: all are very good especially the herbal soup and fried quails.

A wonderful deli with home-like Cantonese and other Chinese cuisine, at reasonable affordable budget, the customer service is a plus to bring you a dinner with family or business parties to an unexpected full satisfaction. A must try and have surprise. Pork, roasted pigeons, chicken, beef, various kinds of seafood and fish, etc., promptly presented at your choice ! Beat your hunger !

I’m writing a really stellar but horrible review for this restaurant, and y’all are going to get one star from me, for the response given to our party of 11. Not only were we not seated had we made a reservation for a table of 11 at 7pm on a Saturday night, but our reservation was given to someone else that didn’t EVEN MAKE ONE. On top of that, they also blamed us saying that we didn’t communicate with them ahead of time, and that we were the ones being really disorganized with our party, when in reality, THEY messed up our party for another party. If you’re not able to keep your guarantee that you’re able to seat a big party, then don’t even bother giving a good impression that you CAN. I will not be supporting this establishment nor would I recommend this place ever to people who want to have a big family dinner here.

This is my parents go-to place when they first moved to San Francisco in the early 2000s. It’s good to see the place is still open. The food is still good, and I would recommend giving them a try. I would caution that you use their letter/number combinations when ordering - the person we spoke to spoke neither English nor Mandarin. We were lucky that my wife speaks Cantonese. Your mileage may vary.

Google
Group of 7 with 3 kids and the bill includes tips which is not acceptable and somewhat force consumers to pay tips, tips culture is definitely questionable in this culture and i don’t think it’s a good practice, all service industry should always provide exceptional service to all people regardless of tips, curry beef belly is like chewing hard beef, 10-12 tables and be prepared to wait for dinner, street parking only.

Google
Rudest female owner. She screamed at you if you asked her a question whether it’s about a charge or how long to wait for a table. It’s very small and has very limited tables. I overheard a conversation between her and a customer who asked why she charged $2 per person to have brought in birthday cake served in the restaurant. She yelled : of course because she had to provide plates and forks! After waiting for half an hour, we ordered half size steam chicken which was served cold 🥶, a steam black bass, spare ribs, roasted pigeon , a traditional Cantonese soup, and Chinese broccoli with garlic. Food were served out to table with an astonishing speed as if everything had been precooked behind the scenes. General speaking, food tasted good except the cold chicken. But I got severe stomach upset 30 minutes after the meal. Ran to restroom non stop and still have stomach problem after two days! Wonder if it’s chicken or the fish or whatever?!🤣😰🤬🤢🤮 Will not recommend this restaurant.

Google
This place does Cantonese food well, especially for groups of 6 or more, where you can experience some of the more banquet-style food offerings. Even if you order the more seemingly mundane classics, beef chow fun, beef with Chinese broccoli, salted fish & chicken fried rice, the food is a few notches in taste and in quality above many restaurants. Parking in this neighborhood can be challenging at peak times.

Yelp
Classic Cantonese family style food, great for medium-large groups Affordable prices - $15-$20 a dish, avg ~$25-30/person with tip Food is yummy Average service, best if you can speak Cantonese Overall great spot for classic cantonese food, not for the faint of heart or those who expect high service, but so worth it for the food Food: 贵妃蚌 (Royal Clams): this was the best imo, about $8 per clam, but the flavor was amazing, fresh clams and it comes with noodles on the bottom that really soak in the flavor of the sauce, pairs well with scallions too Squab: affordable at $17.50, but I felt the quality got worse, the squab meat was dry and the skin was not crispy, the people I ate with joked that they might have used "old" squab, ig its still worth it but quality is mid Soup: pretty amazing, salted perfectly and great starter that comes with the meal Beef chow fun: it really had a nice wok hei to it, best to eat fresh instead of as takeout Sticky pork spare ribs: also best to eat fresh, I liked the sticky sauce and onions, quite tender too while hot Another reminder: please pay with cash, this place is classic and they'll write down your order/check by hand, also call ahead of time to check if they have stock of certain items (like certain seafood items)

Yelp
I came here with my family and tried a good variety of dishes. The food overall was solid with some highlights and a few drawbacks. The fried chicken was moist and warm, though the texture leaned a bit mushy. Squab was a standout--crispy, well-seasoned, and not gamey. The eel had a flavorful black bean and garlic sauce, but there were a lot of bones. The sweet and sour pork had great flavor: it wasn't too sour/tangy. We also ordered a couple other classic meat and veggie dishes-- all were simple but satisfying. The lobster noodles were flavorful, with a strong garlic and lobster taste. The noodles had a good bite, and the sauce coated them well. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so. However, there was not much noodles in the dish. One consistent issue was portion size. Even with dishes upsized to 1.5 servings for our group, they still felt small, especially for sharing. Service was friendly and attentive--they came by often to change our plates. Food came out at a steady, comfortable pace. The restaurant is small and pack but luckily we made a reservation a few days in advance so when we arrived we didn't have to wait. Parking can be frustrating since there's no dedicated lot--you'll likely have to look for street parking or go into the nearby neighborhoods.

Yelp
You get the authentic Cantonese-style experience here. Wait in line for a table, wait outside, or wait inside. Pick your poison. Then pack in at a table and try and talk. What????? Can you say it louder?!!!! No frills, order, and get your food. It is fast too! In total, the experience and ambiance make the food taste better. It's the natural flavoring of the culture. I love it. It is a community. Food is phenomenally out-of-this-world and mind-blowingly good. The authentic feel of the restaurant matters; the quality of the food is inversely proportional to the "class" of the restaurant. The more down-to-earth, the better. These elements are essential parts that add to the flavor experience. I think the passion of the cook was explored and explicated in a grand, classic film or two based on Cantonese cooking from decades ago - possibly a comedic, religious one. They are famous for the squab, which is an expensive delicacy. Geezus, how much is it nowadays? Cost is an independent factor. Their giant platters or bowls of snow pea leaves and abalone medallions in the braised broth with sea cucumbers are top notch. I highly recommend these dishes.

Yelp
Came here with mom on 4/22/25. We ordered our flavor dishes roasted pigeon (must have), stir fried rice noodles and fresh greens. The roasted pigeon is very juicy and flavorful. Price is decent and service is okay. Easy to find street parking. :)

Yelp
First time but my parents been there multiple times for their friend reunions Understand it's a very Asian experience, we are tightly packed, talk over each other and may have to wait Lunch on weekends we waited over an hour Dinner weekdays we waited 30 mins tops You will always see a line or a large family waiting outside Food wise, very good, large portion, very filling and worth its price Will be coming back again and soon

Yelp
Heard about this place by word of mouth. My own experience was memorable but not in a good way. BBQ pork spareribs - had an odd taste, like it's not fresh; also it has too much fat and the meat was chewy and tough. It looks amazing in picture but I had to spit out many pieces that were too fatty or too tough to chew. I actually enjoyed the soft sauteed onion more! Shrimp & scallops stir-fry - overcooked scallops hard as pebbles, this dish has more veggies in it than shrimp & scallops. Pictures look great, if only they tasted as good. Oddly, all tables are for large parties, so if your party is just 1 or 2 people, be prepared to share a big table with other singles.

Yelp
Came here for a family birthday celebration and we got like 8 different dishes to share family-style. I was very surprised at how much flavor each dish had! We had the squab, a tofu dish, a mushroom dish, green beans, broccoli and beef, etc. They were all so tasty and there was not one I didn't like. Will definitely come back when there's another celebration to be had (so we can get a ton of dishes to share again!)

Yelp
The food here is good! I recommend the roast squab, salt and pepper ribs, Peking ribs, pea sprouts, clay pot fish, salt and pepper wings, fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, and honey walnut prawns.

Yelp
This is a restaurant that my family has been coming to for a while, and yesterday night's experience left a lot to be desired. If you've never eaten here, be prepared to wait to be seated, wait to order, and wait to pay. Sometimes the owner will offer to seat you if you can finish eating before the next reservation arrives. The food came out pretty quickly after we ordered though: 铜盘烧汁排骨 House Special Spareribs w/BBQ sauce ($18.99) +Favorite dish of the night, this tasted the same as before! +The sizzling pan creates a crust on the outside of the spareribs while the meat is still juicy. +Onions were sweet and not spicy. 驰名金牌红烧乳鸽王 Famous Deep Fried Squab ($16.99/ea) +Skin was crispy and meat was juicy -We thought it was salty: Side note: My mom thought the squab was frozen, not fresh. 猪肚捞黄毛鸡 Tossed Chicken with Pork Belly (half - $26.99) +Generous portion of chicken and pork belly pieces +Shredded carrots and scallions added freshness -This is one of my dad's fave dishes, and previously this dish was chilled and seasoned with wasabi. However, this time it was room temperature and tasted a bit bland. 秘制家厨小炒王 House Special Stir-Fried Combinations ($16.99) +Good variety of meat and vegetables: Carrots, celery, Chinese cured meat, Chinese sausage, mushrooms, onions, snap peas, and water chestnuts -Chinese cured meat was all fat...there was barely any meat at all -This dish was very salty and greasy 丝苗白饭 Steam Rice (Bowl - $1.99) -On the drier side, but good for soaking up sauces Complimentary hot tea & orange slices are served with your meal. *Verdict: Dishes were on the greasy and salty side, and the owner seemed passive aggressive when we decided to wait for the next table instead of taking her offer of eating before the next reservation. We ended up sitting at the table next to her (she stands at the register) and she kept ignoring us when we tried to order. The male server who had a buzz cut was kind, and there was a female server who helped us remind the owner that we needed to order.

Yelp
New Jumbo is a staple in Sunset for consistently making good food as long as you're willing to brave the crowds and come with some patience. Last night was no different. We made a reservation and our table was ready right on time but it took some time for the staff to be ready again to take our order and it was frustrating to watch them walk by us over and over for a bit. We went with the 10 course menu listed at $398 for my grandmother's birthday and we also added an extra noodle dish for long life. Wow, the portion sizes were incredible last night! We all ate more than our fill and still had pretty substantial leftovers for some of the dishes. Some of my favorites tonight included the house special spare ribs, the steamed striped bass, the seafood fried rice, and a dark horse: the braised fish maw and sea cucumbers (which I usually don't like). I was also very appreciative of the staff who helped us keep a cake in the fridge and subsequently brought out extra plates, forks, even a lighter at the end of our meal. All said and done, our meal with tax and tip came to $520.

Yelp
Very suitable for family gatherings. Make sure to call to reserve for large groups (8plus). Staff is nice and helpful to recommend dishes. I would recommend this small business.

Yelp
Delicious quality Chinese food and flavors. You can taste the "wok's breath" in the dishes. Portion sizes are decent. They serve a free bowl of house soup for the table for lunch if you didn't order a separate soup. We got seated quickly because we arrived before the lunch rush. Service overall was a bit slow. It's a little challenge to flag down a server to refill the tea and for getting the check. The restaurant wasn't too loud when we were dining that day. Most of the tables were filled with middle age men doing construction work grabbing lunch. I know this restaurant gets packed at night though. Food came out as it was made so each dish was steaming hot. My favorite was the braised fish and tofu dish. The tofu and fish are deep fried before being lightly braised. You can still get a bit of a crisp texture with when eating the fish. If you want to experience authentic, no frills, delicious Chinese dishes and customer experience, this place is a must visit.

Yelp
Food great! Not too greasy. Food comes out fast. Came here with my parents on a Thursday 630. It was crowded and loud. We had to wait maybe 10 mins for a table. Thankfully my dad found parking in front as my mom needs a cane to walk. We ordered the foil wrap spareribs my dad was craving- love the amount of onions they give you -pork and mushroom tofu- tasty and light -the green beans with fish and scallops,- probably my favorite. Also the "fish" is dried anchovies. A bit salty tho -curry beef stew.- It was good they use coconut milk. The beef piece could have been smaller. I'd come back but not during a weekend dinner. I see they're open during lunch time so that sounds like a good time to beat the crowd.

Yelp
Good food the squab is still amazing it tasted like Peking Duck. The Hot and Sour Soup was delicious and generously made. The Yangchow fried Rice was great not oily the thing's that were added to it was all fresh . The service was great and really attentive . The restaurant is clean and bright.. my aunt use to bring me here when I visit from Las Vegas. Now that I am back I will be a regular visitor here again.

Yelp
Went here with my inlaw because this used to be one of the best place for seafood. We ordered crab, seafood tofu clay pot, Gailan, and pork spareribs. Service was good, the place has been renovated and is very clean. My in-law said that the seafood in the clay pot especially the squid was tough, So that is minus one star for a place that sells seafood should be able to make a good seafood dish.
google avatar

Mitchell S.

Yelp
This is a true authentic Chinese restaurant. The food is heavy in the oil, strong with the flavour, and weak with the service. All in the makings of a perfect Chinese restaurant. It is a MUST to order the spare ribs and squab as this place specializes in such. The other dishes are good as well if you're aspiring to satisfy your China palate. Place is hustlin and bustlin, I'd go early or get a reservation to be seated instead of standing outside for an hour or so. Only one-two waiters that can take orders so it's a bit slow. Though, the food busts out quick. Love this place. Stay true to the roots of quality 3 stars

Yelp
Jumbo is definitely a staple of chinese food in the Sunset. This is one of my family's go to spots for family style meals. Weekend dinners make the restaurant pretty busy to it's good to call and reserve a spot if possible. The portions are generous and it's always very comforting to eat family style. We typically order the usual dishes for us including walnut shrimp, steamed fish and steamed chicken. If we want to add on a couple more appetizers we also really like the surf clams over vermicelli or the delicious roasted quails.
google avatar

Yelp
I honestly didn't have high hopes for this place because it's a traditional Chinese restaurant, so if the food here is good, the service is usually so-so, but this restaurant's food and service were both great! We got here a little before opening and there were several groups of people waiting already! We were told this place was good, but we had no idea it was this popular. We seated ourselves since the restaurant was still working on setting up, but we were quickly served and our orders were quickly taken. My mom and my aunt ordered, so I unfortunately cannot name exactly what we got, but we got fried rice, soup (I've had this soup before, it is a darker color with a tangy taste to it), a veggie dish, spare ribs dish and a lobster dish. All of the dishes were delicious. I am normally not obsessed with fried rice, but the fried rice was amazing here! It is a darker color and it is very flavorful and a perfect texture of chewiness. At the end, the servers even took away our dishes to box up all the leftovers for us, including the soup! The restaurant from the outside looks narrow, but it is pretty deep with plenty of tables. I cannot speak for the parking situation since we walked there, but I'm confident you can find free street parking nearby.

Yelp
Typical chinese food with specialty in roast squab. The interior was remodeled a few years back so its still decent. The salted sparerib is another go to. I got their salty fish tofu clay pot which was decent. Could've been a little saltier. They were prob trying to be healthier to go with trend. Call to place an order and they r typically ready in 10-15m. Super fast. Will return for sure and crab to go.

Yelp
Very tasty food. It's a touch oily but I think that's to be expected. The food is always incredibly tasty

Yelp
pre-covid this was one of my main stops for seafood, now and then for dim sum. wasn't easy certain times of certain days to get seated. that was when the cafe bakery across the street (the door that's on the right, not the left) was turning out the best pork and custard buns in town. that changed with the shutdown. bakery closed, never really reopened. jumbo survived, kinda; i haven't been back in about 4 years. decided to get reacquainted one recent sunday. first impression: ok but not what it was (otoh what is these days?). probably the best assortment of fish and seafood on any asian menu this side of stockton st, there are other items but nowhere the number or variety of the headliner. ordered cucumber with preserved egg: good crisp veggie but bland dressing and too few pieces of egg. pork neck with lemongrass stirfry: plenty of somewhat tough pork, didn't taste lemongrass nor understand what purpose was served by adding large chunks of bell pepper and onion. steamed egg with clams: egg texture good but little else to say for it, clams aplenty but a bit clammy (know what i mean?). finally, when all else fails order a tsingtao, which unfortunately there was none of on hand this day. maybe all this is why there was absolutely no problem getting seated at noon on sunday, as more than half the large family tables were empty. all said and done there are too many other items that sound interesting to simply write this place off. but problem with what we had this day was nothing on the plate grabbed your attention. i didn't expect sichuan here but did have in mind to enjoy some level of complexity. not today, maybe next time.

Yelp
Sunday Lunch - full house for a non Dim Sum Cantonese restaurant. Had: - Complimentary House Soup - Fried Squab - Singapore Rice Noodles - Peking Pork Chops - Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun All good...

Yelp
Came here for lunch. Busy and a bit hectic. You have to speak up to get attention. And for good reason. The three dishes we ordered (flounder, sweet and sour pork, braised tofu and vegetables) were all fresh and delicious. Some of the best Cantonese cuisine I've had out in this part of the city. Will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Mai N.

Yelp
I always order take out to avoid how crowded it gets. My favorite are their fried noodles. Seafood fried noodle, pork fried noodle, chicken fried noodle.. I've tried all versions lol. Their menu is hard to read because it's all over the place. I usually just ask for what I want even though it's not on the menu. And most of the time they'll just make it.

Yelp
My uncle has been to basically every Chinese restaurant in sf and this is one of if not his top favorite. It's a local gem / hole in the wall restaurant. Service and interior is pretty standard for authentic Chinese restaurants. The food is awesome-- I highly recommend trying their famous squab, the golden dust shrimp (Jin sha), vinegar meat, clam, and abalone mushroom. It pairs well with white wine which you can bring in

Yelp
I have not been to Jumbo for over 10 years. It's quite a trek to head to the Sunset district. But on this particular night, my friend graciously treating , so I'll go! I'm going to be honest. This restaurant is just ok. Nothing special, just a regular neighborhood Chinese restaurant where you can stop by weekly for your chow mein or fried rice fix. The best thing in my opinion to get here has always been the squab. Crispy skin and juicy meat. The seafood from fish to crab to clams are just ok. Edible but nothing to rave about. I think with the price and quality, you can simply pay a little bit more and get better food elsewhere like Emperor Taste out in the Richmond district. I will not be returning here anytime soon, hopefully not until after another 10 years.

Yelp
Christmas Day celebration with my family! This is my dad's favorite spot and he dines here twice per month! Even though the place was packed they fit us in. Nice clean spacious spot and plenty of helpful staff. The restaurant is spotless and each round table could fit 10-12 diners. We ordered 8-9 dishes to share including a fresh fish prepared with a lemongrass sauce! Each dish was fresh and delicious! So many flavors and every dish prepared perfectly! We had a mixture of fish, chicken and pork dishes. We also ordered the hot and sour soup. I had a tiny headcold which is on the mend. The hot and sour soup along with the hot tea immediately cleared my head! I could taste the wonderful spicy hot chicken dish with peanuts! The staff is friendly and attentive and we felt like we were treated like royalty even thought they had a packed house with a line out of the door!! It says NEW Jumbo Seafood? Maybe they moved to this location? I feel funny yelping because it packed to the gills...now everyone will want to come try it!!! Do not believe the other reviews..the meats were tender, flavorful and incredible! Each dish we tasted was wonderfully prepared and expertly seasoned. I haven't had such delicious fresh Asian dishes since I was a little kid! This food deserves 100 stars! The service too! I LOVE their food SO MUCH!!!!! I cannot wait to come back again to eat! They had a line out of the door until closing time. It's such a warm, friendly environment. I chatted with so many diners as we waited to get our table. One fellow shared he'd been in line waiting for 25 minutes, he said it's worth the wait because the dishes are so good! If you haven't tried it..you should!!! We literally ate every single bite! We took home the sizzling spicy Greek beans!! Easily the BEST Asian food in the city..hands down! Worth the drive into SF We came from Pleasanton to try it! Worth it!!

Yelp
This is authentic Chinese restaurant is good for casual dining. It's not a big restaurant, and it was pretty packed. I came with my family (of 4) on a Thursday at 7:45. Even at that time, there was a wait and we didn't get seated until 8:00. The atmosphere is quite lively. And everything is fairly clean. The service was fine, it's exactly what you'd expect at a causal authentic Chinese restaurant. The workers work at a fast pace, so the waitresses are running around to take orders and bring people their food, so they don't really take their time to check up on you. You just gotta speak up if you need something. This is fine, it's the kind of restaurant "culture"my Chinese parents thrive in. The food was pretty good. Everything had a good balance of flavor. The fried squab is what this restaurant is known for, and for good reason because it was done well. I know we came at a relatively late time, but they literally dragged garbage bins through the restaurant - from the back kitchen, straight down the middle through the restaurant, to bring it out front. I guess it needed to be done... but it definitely did not need to be done during business hours. It was an off putting sight to witness while eating. Our total came to be $240, which seems fair for the food. However, given how unpretentious this restaurant is, I would expect it to be slightly less. Once we gave them the card, they came back with the bill all filled out, and we just had to sign. I found that questionable... the restaurant literally tipped themselves, which is odd . But my parents paid and they didn't seem to have a problem with it. Street parking only. It wasn't too bad since I came late. But I would imagine that parking would be horrendous at around noon-1:00 (lunch) and 6:00-7:00 (dinner). Overall, 4 stars. Go for the food. I would caution that if you're not Chinese, can speak Chinese and are comfortable with these types of small, authentic Chinese restaurants that are fast paced restaurants, you may not so easily enjoy it.

Yelp
Good is solid, always a long wait on the weekend so we avoid then. Week days and take out are easier but communication can be a barrier.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my family tonight because I had a craving for the giant steamed clams. They were pretty busy when we walked in but the lady at the cash register didn't even bother to look at me or at least let me know she'll be right with me. Anyways when we got seated the server took our order and of course she tried to up sell us. We didn't want to order soup tonight and it felt like that offended her. We ordered the squab, giant clams, honey walnut shrimps, the XO seafood fried rice and a veggie dish (they were out of pea sprouts). This was between 4 people which was actually plenty of food for us but I felt like just because we didn't order the soup, the waitress was looking down on us. She took the soup spoons back and tossed it pretty aggressively into the box. The squab was pretty small and didn't have too much meat, and it wasn't fried enough. Giant clams tasted fine and satisfied my craving. Honey walnut shrimp portion was really small, fried rice was mediocre, veggies were also just okay.... My mom asked for some chili on the side and we were told they don't have any. One of our dishes was missing so we followed up and they seemed reluctant to go check for us. We watched her give another table a whole jar of chili later, their portions also seemed much larger than what was given to us. We asked for the check and a box for Togo and they only gave us the check so we had to ask for a box again. Overall I think the food is just okay and the service/attitudes could definitely use an adjustment. Probably wouldn't come back again as there are other restaurants that the same dishes but bette

Yelp
Absolutely horrible service. Unless you speak Cantonese, the staff will completely ignore you. They have no communication skills whatsoever. I would rate them zero stars if I could. Again, if you can't speak Cantonese, do not go here!!!!!!!

The food is off-the-chart authentic Cantonese cuisine. You can't find some of the dishes on this restaurant's menu anywhere else. Their squab, Queen abalone and herbal soup are delicious and must haves. An advanced warning, don't expect five star service. Their staff work hard and fast to bring g your food out quickly.

Yelp
It's one of those authentic Chinese places where you don't judge the place by average Yelp ratings. The best and most authentic Chinese food places with fair prices are almost never higher than 3 stars or so - at some point if it's higher priced, service might be better, but the food quality is usually sacrificed. Don't expect staff here to speak perfect English, just know the food will be legit. Walking in, the demographic is almost all Chinese, which is a good sign that it won't be too americanized Chinese. This place has the best quail - crispy skin, juicy meat, and not too oily. All other dishes are also bomb. Can't say anything bad at all. I'm always dreaming of coming back, just look at the pictures of the food. Recommend making a reservation in advance though, and come with friends so you can try more dishes.

Yelp
If you want super rude service, long wait times for your order, and high prices with small portions than this is your place. I come here because my friends like this place and it's close to them but I always avoid coming here if I can. The sweet and sour ribs are all bones and they always try to sell you their outrageously priced soup. The vegetables have tons of oil and they seem to like their regular customers and will push them to the front of the line and give them special treatment. I'm not a fan of this place; I only come here oit of peer pressure.

Yelp
Was craving for squabs and have not been here for over 3 years so we decided to come on a Friday night at 5:45. When we arrived there was no line so that was good. The 4 of us ordered 2 squabs, a steam soup, sweet and sour spareribs, egg tofu beef and my must order dried shrimp beans. The squabs are a must because they are a pro at making these because every table ordered this. The sweet and sour spareribs was ok. The other 2 must order dishes for me were their steam soup (if you go late this will sold out) and their dried shrimp bean dish. The egg tofu beef dish was good too. Because it was just the 4 of us (3 adults and 1 kid) we didn't want to order too much and bring the leftovers home but we still ended up packing the soup and the beans home. Overall this meal hit the spot for me. Parking wasn't too bad. If you haven't been here for a while like me go and give this place a try.

Yelp
We ordered three quails which is $15.99 each, one of them is super tiny and dark! Obviously it is refry. We talked to the lady owner and she said there is nothing she can do. Her attitude is very interesting, she is not trying to help at all but just said that is nothing she can do, if you come here, be prepare to suck it up. No wonder it is three stars, hope I can give negative star. By the way, the lemon is a dollar each, bring your lemon if you don't want be a water fish! 想做水魚快啲嚟!

Yelp
This restaurant is always busy; wait time could go anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and they only take reservation for table of 6 or more. Tables and seats are also setup very close so not a place for you if you don't want the opportunity to make friends. Service is typical of a busy Asian restaurant. They are always busy running around. In our visits, we were able to flag them down when needed. However, we could find many delicious and authentic Chinese dishes here (although some would need to be preordered; e.g., we wanted a specialty soup on the menu and it had to be preordered a day before). Most of the dishes we ordered were good. We did find our order for a live fish dishes peculiar. The fish was supposed to be live from their tank. Be fillet and stir fried with green vegetables and the head/bones were to go into making a tofu soup. Well, they came out in less than 10 minutes. Dishes were still good but our suspicion is that the fish was fresh but not live (alas we had been overcharged). Will return when in the area and the wait is not too long. But, will not order anything sold as "live" again; not worth the extra $$$.

Yelp
11/22/22 I've been to this Chinese restaurant as well so MANY times. I decided to write an review of today's experience. Every dish is dependable and up to my overall quality standard, I'm just arguing by personal preference at this point. Today I enjoyed their steamed fish fillet and peas and fish fillet soup the most.

Yelp
Súper busy place. Don't expect anything fancy but you sure enjoy seafood they offer. Go hungry and enjoy true Cantonese style seafood!

Yelp
Terrible experience this time, will not go to this restaurant anymore. We knew our orders reached the mini, but the server still said not enough, keeping pushing you to order more, so we ended up to order a lot more than we can finish. Food are all salty too. Moreover, they overcharged at some dishes, have been waiting for more than 15min try to get it fix & didn't get a response, they were too busy so I had to give up. Just will not come here again & will not recommend it.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and the foods are little bit pricey,200 for 5 dishes in a regular Chinese restaurant? And ask for 18 percent tips.top it off 230.Not worth it.servers are polite ,the foods we ordered is not as good as before they probably change ownership.Anyway I wouldn't not recommend this restaurant for economic buddy

Yelp
This is your typical Chinese/Cantonese restaurant, but the service really decreased the entire quality of experience. I quickly signed up on the sheet and was able to get the first position. A few minutes later, a table opened up, and my family prepared to be seated. But they let another family that was behind us in line go instead. When we asked the desk woman, she yelled at us and said that the table could only fit four people (we were a party of five). Pure ridiculousness. That was a big table that could fit six people. Anyway...we waited some more and saw another table open up. Finally! But when we asked the lady if we'd be seated there, she said that it was reserved for someone else. Five minutes later, I see one person seated at a table that could hold 8. Now, maybe the rest of the party didn't show yet. It's crazy that my whole party was here and she still let one person reserve a table for eight. All of the menu items are overpriced in my opinion. But they were very flavorful, not overly salty, and light. The House Special spareribs stood out in particular, they were slightly sweet, glazed with sauce, and perfectly cooked. Also, the squab was tender and succulent, but nothing particularly special. If not for the horrible service, I would have rated this restaurant 4 stars.

Yelp
Ordered food at 4:15pm over the phone and wasn't given a number. The man told me to pick up immediately or as soon as I can. When I arrived at 4:40pm, the owner, only called out numbers and kept ignoring me. Ten minutes later she finally asks what I had ordered and I told her it was over the phone for squab. She said the order was written for 5pm. 5pm comes along and the squab is ready but she gives it to someone who placed their order after me. I then tell her the was my order and she told me to wait. A waitress comes and calls out that she has my squab and I reach for it, only for an old lady to snatch it out of my hand and say she'll take it. The owner then says it's the old lady's but she placed her order in front of me way after I had arrived. Wtf? Then owner then asked if I had paid already. Yes, paid in cash half an hour ago! This place is disorganized and have terrible service. She also made me pay in cash when everyone else paid with card, which is pretty unfair. I'm never going to come here again. There is no food good enough to be given away twice.

Yelp
It's Christmas and so they're understandably busy. Still poor customer service to hang up on us twice.

Yelp
My friends and I have eaten at New Jumbo a number of times throughout 2023. We reserved a table for 10 to celebrate Holiday season and this time the food was very disappointing. We ordered 10 dishes and 8 of them were much inferior to past visits. 9 of the dishes were oily and all of the dishes that included meat had very little protein and that was of poor quality. The only dish that worked was corn chowder soup with chicken. I should add that the restaurant which has often been almost full in the past was almost empty. I suspect that the regulars have moved away because of a change in the cooking staff or management. I can NO LONGER recommend this restaurant and my friends, and I will NOT return as there is no reason to pay for poor quality food.
