This is authentic Chinese restaurant is good for casual dining. It's not a big restaurant, and it was pretty packed. I came with my family (of 4) on a Thursday at 7:45. Even at that time, there was a wait and we didn't get seated until 8:00. The atmosphere is quite lively. And everything is fairly clean.
The service was fine, it's exactly what you'd expect at a causal authentic Chinese restaurant. The workers work at a fast pace, so the waitresses are running around to take orders and bring people their food, so they don't really take their time to check up on you. You just gotta speak up if you need something. This is fine, it's the kind of restaurant "culture"my Chinese parents thrive in.
The food was pretty good. Everything had a good balance of flavor. The fried squab is what this restaurant is known for, and for good reason because it was done well.
I know we came at a relatively late time, but they literally dragged garbage bins through the restaurant - from the back kitchen, straight down the middle through the restaurant, to bring it out front. I guess it needed to be done... but it definitely did not need to be done during business hours. It was an off putting sight to witness while eating.
Our total came to be $240, which seems fair for the food. However, given how unpretentious this restaurant is, I would expect it to be slightly less. Once we gave them the card, they came back with the bill all filled out, and we just had to sign. I found that questionable... the restaurant literally tipped themselves, which is odd . But my parents paid and they didn't seem to have a problem with it.
Street parking only. It wasn't too bad since I came late. But I would imagine that parking would be horrendous at around noon-1:00 (lunch) and 6:00-7:00 (dinner).
Overall, 4 stars. Go for the food. I would caution that if you're not Chinese, can speak Chinese and are comfortable with these types of small, authentic Chinese restaurants that are fast paced restaurants, you may not so easily enjoy it.
