"The fare here is New Korean: traditional Korean cooking with a modern interpretation. The chef applies the techniques and sensibilities he learned studying Western cooking. Banchan with 16 side dishes is a revelation. The Imperial Crepe adhering to the five flavours and five colours, is a brightly coloured treat. Ganjang-gejang, sauce-marinated blue crab, is marinated lightly to suit modern tastes. Hasuo proclaims a new Korean cuisine, raising the food of the chef’s Korean homeland to a new level." - Michelin Inspector

Authentic Korean flavors outside of the well-known Shin-Okubo area can be hit or miss—but this spot was definitely a hit. Tucked into a smaller space with limited seating, reservations are a must, and they operate in two sittings: lunch and dinner. I visited for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful details—from the use of traditional Korean dishware to the upscale presentation. The set menu was very reasonably priced, and the variety of banchan (side dishes) was a nice touch. You get to choose your main, and both the soondoobu and bulgogi were flavorful, well-balanced, and felt authentic while still being slightly adjusted to suit Japanese tastes—without compromising the soul of Korean cuisine. Menus are offered in Korean, English, and Japanese, making it accessible for a wide range of guests. My only wish was for a slightly larger portion of bulgogi, and something sweet to round out the meal would’ve been perfect. Also, it would be great if solo diners could book online in the future. Looking forward to returning and trying their dinner menu next time!

Service was very friendly and they tried their best, five stars for the people working there. Food was absolutely disappointing and shockingly expensive for the quality you get. There’s nothing “modern” about this Korean restaurant and ingredients/flavor are same as a cheap Korean in K-Town. As an example, their spicy cheese chicken (picture below) is made with Philadelphia cream cheese…come on… Lunch is ¥4.4k per person, insanely bad cost performance. Atmosphere is forgettable by the way - towards the end of the meal the kitchen turned on a super loud blender which made it impossible to hear anyone speaking.

Very comforting traditional Korean cuisine. Limited spicy food and sophisticated full course meal. Super relaxed ambiance and the grilled beef was the best part!

Had lunch invited by a friend. Had the Omakase menu and it was exceptionally tasty. Recommend to reserve table in advance as it was completely full.

Upscale Korean food. It’s a small space, but we arrived one hour before closing for lunch without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. Their lunch sets and banchan (appetizers) were beautifully plated, but the food was just good, and not particularly outstanding. The pear juice, however was really delightful, especially on a hot day. They have a one drink per person policy, so get the pear juice!

Service was good, but the food was a major disappointment. There are thousands of far better Korean restaurants in Tokyo for half or even one-fifth of the price that this place is charging. Trust me, avoid this place if you don't want to be ripped off.

I like the furniture where the cash register is placed inside the store.

Arrived at 11am, many people were already waiting outside. And the staff told us that the main course was sold out.... Great experience...
