New Moon Natural Foods

Stopped here on the way home from a hike for something cool to drink. Saw the smoothie bar & ordered. They accidentally gave it to the wrong person but were so friendly about it & gave me an OJ on the house. It was very kind & considerate. The Thai food I got in the front fridge was also very good!

An awesome little local health food store with all the necessities as well as locally made goods and supplies. Super friendly and kind staff ready to help, smile or just share a conversation. Loved it!!

Nice little alternative grocery with lots of options for gf/df/vegan etc. Great sandwich bar. Staff was very knowledgeable about cross contamination and how to prepare something i would be safest with.

Excellent produce selection. Good quality grains, ice creams, oh and the fresh bread is excellent. Breakfast burritos are good (heavy on potatoes) if you can snag one. Fresh sandwich bar has good produce in the sandwiches. Very cool staff.

My mid rating is mostly due to the markup. Nice to have this option but comes at a premium. It's a small micro whole foods, but more expensive. Great friendly staff. Most products you expect to find at whole foods for sale like chocolates or fancy gluten free paleo items, milk etc are sold at full suggested retail price. Their hot bar and juice bar is nice, and the alcohol selection. Fresh produce minus the couple sales items have quite a markup in here. Its right off I-80 in Truckee. Some items are reasonably priced. I stop by here due to convenience, but def aware of the markup.

There is a small deli and drink counter inside. They also have a small sitting area to enjoy your purchases.

A small but well stocked health food store. On the pricey side, as is expected. Their produce selection, though organic, is very limited (otherwise would be 5stars). They do carry herbs, grains, and nuts in bulk, which is nice. They also have raw milk and cream and duck eggs. They have a small deli and smoothie counter with a good selection of healthy to do options that fit various dietary needs.

Such high prices! I get it but come on! Also infuriating that the staff acts so clueless. I own a retail business and would never allow my employees to act so uninformed.

Great little health food store out in the middle of the mountains!! Lots of good healthy options packed from floor to ceiling. The staff is super friendly and upbeat which is nice. I ended up ordering from their cafe, the Crescent Cafe, the hollaback girl sandwich that was soooo good! It's a vegan Reuben take which was delicious! Fully loaded and full of love from the workers who made it. I also picked up the vegan macaroni salad which was tasty too! I highly recommend shopping here if your staying in the area or stopping in for a sandwich. They have quite a large menu so you are bound to find something for everyone in the family!

Great health food store with lots of options. They have a juice bar and a custom go up and order area for sandwiches. They have lots of healthy choices and organic produce. Prices are reasonable, a little pricey but expected for a grocery store like this

Love love love this little store. They have a lot of wonderful items. Got my grass fed loin for my Beef Wellington here. They had the best price.

Truckee prices :( overall good service and very nice products. Stores clean and layout is easy to find things. Deli and juice bar is a nice touch.

Again, a great visit. I had an emergency meeting in Truckee today. It was a short meeting and so my wife decided to come along and have a picnic after. We stopped in here for all the makings of a great picnic. Everyone here is so nice and helpful. The prices are abit steep, but all organic. What we bought: Wine French bread Patè Tuna sandwich Pineapple smoothie It was a good picnic!

Decided to grab a sandwich to take with me down to Donner Lake for an impromptu picnic. I was hoping for the Dixie Chicken but that was not available (for now) so I opted for the Yellow Submarine tuna panini, just as yummy! Can't beat that epic toasty crunch along with the perfect bite of juicy tuna salad, cucumber, tomato and slivers of red onion. Always love the love with the sandwich cut in half for easier handling. Have napkin ready to catch juicy drips.

I came up to New Moon with the sole purpose of buying some Raw Milk that I can't buy in Reno. I was so excited to find a place less than an hour away and this was a great spot! It was easy to find, but the parking was a little on the tight side. The store is laid out well and everything was easy to find. Everything was well stocked and priced fairly. I found the milk easily and loved the choices available beyond the raw milk. I ended up purchasing milk, cream, cheese, and some more. The staff were all very kind and welcoming when I came in. When checking out I opted for a cookie and the lady was very sweet in helping my daughter and I pick out a flavor. She packed everything perfectly in a little box and it was overall a very pleasant interaction. I didn't realize they offered coffee and a deli till I was leaving, so I'll have to come back to give those a try! I can't wait to come back to this store!

New Moon is the best! I always know I can count on their products to be healthy and well sourced. Love all the local organic produce. The juice bar is an absolute gem. All of the staff here are so friendly and they make you feel like family! There's a great little wine and beer selection. Best beer selection in North Tahoe in my opinion. Soups in the fall and winter are so delicious and nourishing. One of the best places to grab a sandwich or to go food in Truckee. I know whatever I get here is going to be good for me. Best supplement selections in the area hands down. I love the feel of the shop. It's incredible all the amazing products they have. Prices reflect that it's a smaller shop with high quality ingredients. It's not Safeway. And, during peak seasons/times it can get a little crowded. It's one of those businesses that products and staff actually reflect their ethos and I love supporting a business with real values. Best grocery store in Truckee!

We were here July 4th long weekend. The juice bar inside this store is pure awesome. We tried Greens. Orange juice , sunshine . Recommended must have when any one visits truckee

Employees are friendly, sandwiches are BOMB, and the prepared food is fresh and unique. We stock up for the days adventure when we're in the area. Props for the fried rice, Thai noodles, and homemade ranch! Love this place and wish we had one at home.

Well stocked natural foods store with massive pile of watermelons by the front door. Heaps of fresh produce and packaged goods as you'd expect anywhere. Unfortunately the deli and coffee bar were closed due to staffing issues. They have some prepared vegan sandwiches and salads -- but they are chock full of filler items like celery. Strangely, when I asked the person at the deli counter about the celery usage -- she claimed "All the vegans would complain loudly if we took it out." I said "I don't know any vegans who are that attached." Then she insisted "we know more vegans" -- ok, fine, lady - you win. Keep your filler garbage vegetable and I'll go to the cafe next door for my food. The cashier at New Moon, who is vegan, said she also hates celery. I am sad to report that the 25lb watermelon that I paid $18 for -- the biggest watermelon I've ever gotten as a single adult in my life (vs for a group or party) -- was entirely overripe and full of water inside (not fermented but definitely past prime sugar). Better bet for vegan prepared foods at the coffee shop nextdoor - the had vegan apple strudel that was nothing short of spectacular.

Great staff! I've felt welcome and appreciated as a customer each time I've shopped. Their produce is awesome! And beer selection is excellent.

Cute little place with a nice selection of natural foods. They have a pretty good variety and very full shelves. The staff are super kind and helpful. Unfortunately due to staffing (as someone said) their sammy bar was closed and the pre made ones didn't look so awesome and they were pricey. We did end up buying some amazing cheese here along with a few fruits and veggies. You can find some fair prices if you look. They have some nice sales. I also like that they give you a box option :)

Made the trek to Truckee to pick up on some "not so common items" that Whole Foods in Reno did not have. Herbal drops with so many syllables for my husband, had no clue what they're used for. Nut New Moon had them and we left happy campers. My husband also picked up some milk sold by a local dairy and you cannot find that in Nevada as well. The store was packed. Maybe because it was about to snow and people were packing food away to hibernate through the storm. The workers are very helpful and friendly. Clean store. Smells like a Natural Foods Store. Mission accomplished... and then some...

What a great spot to grab some vegan lunch items with a few places to sit outside. Everyone here was quite friendly and they have a good selection of items to choose from. I got a wrap and some fruit which made a delicious post-hike lunch spot. Highly recommend and we will come back if we are ever back in the area.

Love love love this store! Updated just enough to be, smell and feel clean yet still has an older health food store feel. Crescent Cafe's take out foods have almost always been scrumptious (especially the Sprouted Lentil Dahl salad garlic hummus and the tuna fish). The employees are friendly and helpful. Great bulk and produce section. Always our stop as we head into Incline!

Horrible cashiers with bad attitudes Ask a simple question and get answered with disdain and sarcasm Better off remaining silent in this store Cashiers should get an attitude adjustment! Parking and checkout are horrendous!

We have been here twice while passing through. We stop for a healthy snack or light lunch. We mostly eat soup and salads. Everything we have had has been excellent; top quality and very tasty. I would be proud to recommend this place to anyone interested in healthy eating. I also noticed they have a very extensive craft beer selection. The help is always friendly and helpful. All in all a pleasant experience. We particularly enjoy their chicken curry salad. Give them a try.

We love a good juice/smoothie spot whenever we're traveling, and New Moon hit the spot for us (visited in early May 2022)! It will definitely be a go-to spot for us if/when we visit Lake Tahoe. I appreciated the online menu on their website, and our entire group of 6 loved each of the drinks we got. So fresh, healthy, and delicious!

This is my favorite grocery store in Truckee! The produce is fresh and of the highest quality, and the premade salads are so delicious. They have the most delicious ice cream sandwiches I have ever tried. I end up spending a fortune every time I come here, but it's worth it.

Only place in Truckee of it's kind. Even though the prices are double than what I pay at home in my health food store on the coast. Lots of people inside and a cafe with maybe 2 vegan options and a juice bar. Spent around $70.00 for a small amount of food and sandwich.

The absolute BEST of the Best!! Excellent organic and ethical options. And delicious fresh sandwiches, juices, salads. Customer service is always stellar! Proud and loyal customer of over 6 years :D Plus, they stepped right up at the very beginning of the pandemic to support our community. In an instant, they created an online ordering website, curbside pick up, hand sanitization station, capacity limits, soecial hours, and more!! New Moon set a new high standard of what it means to care for and protect our community!! Kudos with a standing ovation and infinite gratitude for New Moon!!

This market has a variety of natural items such as barley, quinoa, and the novel coronavirus. Seriously y'all... this place is dangerous, the employees walk around the store without masks on and hang out breathing on the vegetables with no masks They straight up said they don't really enforce the mask rule.... Which is doesn't respect customers oh and is also illegal. Would be kinda funny if u went to a natural food store to buy healthy food to live longer but then got covid because they coughed on your vegetables. The meat is pretty good tho ... The fruit was a little old. Otherwise would be 3 stars.

They have awesome food and tons of vegetarian options. A grocery store well worth visiting.

Great selection of natural and organic foods & goodies. Little gems that you can't find anywhere. I love their mini bulk section, herbs, and spices. I even found fresh lemongrass, and spirulina powder. A lovely array of fruits and veggies. The team at New Moon is so incredibly nice and helpful. Genuinely kind group of people which makes it a pleasure to shop there. Oh, and they have a deli, too. In the winter my favorite treat is their Thai soup, so healthy and comforting!

This is the best and really only place in Truckee to get your healthy food and grocery items. I was in town dropping off some golfers and found myself really hungry all of a sudden. I was across the street getting some gear from the outdoor store and asked if the sales associate had any suggestions for healthy food nearby. He pointed me across the street and I couldn't have been more impressed with what I found. The store has a tiny footprint but manages to stock everything under the sun throughout carefully stacked shelves. They even had my favorite ice cream for less than it costs at Safeway! I was most excited about their grab and go food options. I grabbed a few granola/chocolate protein bars for my hikes and then a bunch of the grab and go items. Everything was absolutely stellar. The checkout was little bit harried as they have a few checkers but where you stand in line is a little unclear. They have a member rewards type thing but it's old-school and you need to sign up with paper and pen. I signed up so I hope to get out there again sometime to enjoy the perks!

Love me a small, independently owned health food store like New Moon. Great selection from paleo to vegan, lots of good food choices, boxed, fresh, frozen, they have it all. Lots of organic, local, gmo-free, etc. food, fresh produce, deli and juice bar (I ordered a green juice with celery, kale, spinach, lemon, ginger, turmeric) and great cosmetic/body care section. Got some mineral sunscreen, some shampoo and conditioner and browsed for a minute their natural remedies section of flower essences, herbs, vitamins, supplements. Truckee residents (or visitors) this place is a gem!

This lil store is packed full of goodness! The run down on the new protocol is - they have sinks you can wash your hands at BEFORE you go shopping- I also washed mine after cause I be touchin stuff:) Fantastic supplements section- has some great stuff I've never seen at a Whole Foods. Great service! Everyone was super kind and helpful, I'll definitely be back!

Nice little grocery store with a great produce section. We happened to be eating at Golden Rotisserie, in the same mall, and I needed a couple of lemons for dinner. Was pleasantly surprised to find New Moon a few doors down. It's small for a grocery store but packed with lots of good stuff. I was definitely tempted to get a few more items than I planned, so I ended up walking out with a few pears and some vegetables to go along with the lemons. Probably less crowded than the Safeway that everyone goes to, especially over President's Day weekend.

Excellent natural foods store. I love the Truckee store the most since it's a much bigger store that just expanded again. Great fresh produce--probably the best on the mountain. Excellent gluten-free options. Lovely selection of natural products. Kombucha, teas, ciders, beers. Fantastic salad bar with everything healthy you could want to pile into a sustainable box. Love this place!

New to the Truckee area so I've been on the hunt for a grocery store besides Safeway...yuck. This place definitely fit the bill, with a large selection of organic produce (lots of it local), cheeses, and organic wines, I'll definitely make this one of my weekly stops for groceries. Plus I feel better spending my money at a local co-op rather than a large grocery store chain. The one thing I did feel they were lacking was meat - they do have some (all frozen) so I'm still searching for a good butcher shop in the area!

What a great market- from all organic foods to a plethora of vegetarian friendly options, you have to check out this grocery store! They have a sandwich bar in the back that has an incredible list of delicious sandwiches (with or without meat). If you want a salad, they can make any of the sandwiches into a salad. I love their homemade hummus - definitely add it to a sandwich/wrap/or salad. They also have a delicious smoothie bar and three daily, house made soups to get too! It is so nice to see an organic grocery store in Truckee! Come here for any grocery list items, especially if it's fresh produce or bulk items! It can't be beat!

Wow! Double wow! Excellent service, friendly cashiers, and delicious food. Stopped by daily on my last trip to Tahoe...just couldn't get enough. Try the following. DELI: Wolf-something sandwich (1st one on deli menu) JUICE BAR: Organic juice The Greens, and Carrot Cake Shake FRIDGE behind register: Tiramisu to die for by a local place called Uncommon Kitchen (I'm more of a foodie than a health conscious person and this is crazy good!! Don't think of it as a traditional tiramisu, just think of it as a Yummy dessert you don't have to feel guilty about!) FRIDGE next to deli case: Curry chicken (while it lasts -too bad they only make it twice a week) Can't wait to return! It really is that good!

This store is the cutest! I am not from Truckee but every time we come to visit we like to come into this store. They have fresh produce and some other food necessities. The store itself is a little bit on the pricey side though so be ready to pay the price! My favorite things to get here are the desserts!! They have this fridge by the registers that has 3-4 vegan desserts and they are out of this world! So far I had the vegan tiramisu and the vegan chocolate mousse and both are Delicious! Now is my time to try and recreate those recipes since I am craving them quite a lot at the moment!

All the kombucha, yas! This was a great option while traveling to pick up some of my much needed healthier and organic items. Reminded me of my beloved local organic/health food market. Prices seemed reasonable, store was clean, cashier was pleasant.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Selection of grocery is very Good although the vegetable area could be expanded. The have fresh made food for those not having the time to cook or just want a quick snack. Wine and good selection of cheese available. Will shop here whenever in the area. Great selection of organic groceries. Very impressed every visit.

Me and my husband are OBSESSED with this place. They have such a huge selection of snacks, deli items, and drinks. They make phenomenal sandwiches. I ordered a gluten-free sandwich, and they gave me TWO. Usually places charge you extra for GF and then give you a tiny little sandwich, but they didn't skimp at all. My husband got the Reuben, and he was super happy with it as well. The employees are also really friendly and helpful. Everyone is happy and approachable.

The freshed pressed juices are amazing!!! And the selection of dried fruits and nuts and vegetable chips fulfill all your snacking dreams.

I'm a sucker for natural groceries. You pay more of course. Good stuff costs more. Up and down the isles. Found some healthy stuff. The staff was all great. What's not to love?
