We visited the New Orleans Botanical Garden during a trip to City Park, and while the gardens themselves are well-maintained and offer some lovely sights, the overall experience felt overpriced—especially for a family. The space is peaceful and offers a mix of tropical plants, flowers, and a few artistic installations. It’s a nice place to explore if you’re really into horticulture or looking for a quiet walk. That said, I expected more for the cost of admission. I honestly would’ve preferred to visit alone or with other plant lovers rather than bring the whole family, considering how quickly the price adds up and how little there was to keep the kids engaged after a short while. There were some highlights: the butterfly garden, interesting sculptures, and shaded areas to rest. But overall, it didn’t feel like a good value for a full family outing. If you’re on a budget or traveling with kids, I’d think twice unless you know they’ll be into the experience. Next door they have a story book land which kids may enjoy more. I absolutely loved the kitchen garden and that part of the botanical garden.

Beautiful garden. The covered gardens were nice and cool. Shade trees were magical, especially in the summer swelter. We went on a Friday afternoon. Walking in the garden was very calming. Not many people around, so you could take you time and enjoy the view. The fans in some of the areas provided great relief for the heat.

I really enjoyed wandering this botanical garden. It's not incredibly large yet there is plenty to see. Several small garden types to choose from. Unfortunately the Japanese garden and train area were closed when I came. A bit pricey compared to other US gardens. Plenty of parking in the area. Restrooms available. Tiny gift shop. No food.

A Plant Lover’s Paradise The New Orleans Botanical Garden is an absolute haven for plant lovers. If you appreciate nature, beauty, and a peaceful stroll through vibrant landscapes, this place is a must-visit. At every turn, there’s something stunning to take in—from lush tropical plants and fragrant blooms to elegant sculptures tucked among the greenery. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and your senses come alive. Whether you’re admiring the towering oaks or wandering through themed gardens, there’s no shortage of natural wonder. The garden is thoughtfully laid out and impeccably maintained. Every path invites you to explore just a little further, and every corner reveals another moment of quiet beauty. It’s more than just a garden—it’s an experience. Perfect for a solo walk, a romantic outing, or a peaceful afternoon with friends, the New Orleans Botanical Garden offers a refreshing escape from the busy city. You don’t have to be a botanist to enjoy it—just someone who finds joy in nature’s artistry.

Google
my favorite botanical garden by far! such a stunning display of plants making you feel Louisiana in a whole. the old oaks were just breath taking and the fact that the highest point is in city park is such a cool thing to go see off the beaten path of all the partying

Google
Absolutely phenomenal! I wish we had started earlier in the day because we ended up having only about an hour and a half before closing, and we felt like we barely touched the tip of all this beautiful garden had to offer. We also plan to visit it again in a different season.

Google
The gardens were lovely, not too crowded on a Friday afternoon. You can easily spend a few hours walking around, especially if you're curious about the different types of plants, flowers and trees. Most everything is labeled. You do have to pay, can't remember how much, and it's not showing yet on my bank statement, despite going several days ago.

Google
The botanical gardens is a beautiful place for a nice walk. There are some great shady paths for hot sunny days! There are nice fountains and greenhouses as well. Restrooms were decent.

Yelp
What a beautiful way to spend a day- visiting City Park and walking through the Botanical Garden. There are clearly marked paths through all types of gardens with statues and public art along the sides. There's gardens inside the main building as well.

Yelp
I really enjoyed being able to check out the gardens while in Nola. I try to visit Botanical Gardens in any city I visit. I enjoyed the kiddie area they had but it was closed however I'd love to visit with my kiddos. The customer service was average. No one really talked to us or offered a pamphlet/information. The best part is there weren't many people lol so we enjoyed taking silly selfies and skipping around the gardens. The sculptures had to be one of my faves as well. The location of the garden is great also because it's in walking distance to other venues like the art museums and cafe du monde. Overall I'd come back more than likely when the weather is cooler lol

Yelp
Was playing tourist in the city and ended up at city parks, botanical gardens. This is a great place to spend a couple hours on a lazy we can afternoon just wandering around, relaxing with nature. As you explore around the only way you see various pleasant collection of plants along side walkway and a few enclosed garden areas with various themes, such as a rainforest. So if your local or a tourist and want a quiet get a get away to relax a I highly recommend the botanical gardens here. On a sidenote, two or three times a year city parks, sells plants and cuttings from here but you need to check the CityPark website for the rare times this happens.

Yelp
Although it,' not very big, this is a gorgeous garden. It's very serene. Great place to commune with nature and appreciate the wonderful array of flowers, plants, and sculptures. The floral smells are simply divine. I love visiting here.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for plants so this was one of my favorite things we did on our trip. We actually walked over after exploring the sculpture gardens at City Park. For $12 admission, this was one of the few attractions I thought was fairly priced. This place is a pretty decent size with plenty to look at both indoor and out. The layout was a little confusing or at least we didn't find the right flow to move through each space and the "hanger" (as in hunger-induced crankiness) took over my companions before we could see everything lol. It wasn't especially busy for a Saturday either - if you're looking for an affordable activity without too much of the crowds, the gardens might be a good option.

Yelp
We are lucky to have this beautiful garden in City Park. Many different plants to enjoy. The Lilly pad pond...

Yelp
Earth Day is coming up and there's no better time to check out the New Orleans Botanical Garden (bonus: the weather is unseasonably cool for mid-April). It was Sunday in the park time, one of those nice Spring days when New Orleanians are all out to revel in the fact that it's not yet 95 degrees with 95% humidity. After strolling through the Sculpture Garden (also a must), we saw vendors from a flower show loading out (it was after 5pm). We realized we could go inside this area, a separate part of the park with an entry fee (they weren't charging so late in the day). What a find! It's all sculpted hedges and flower beds and little areas with swings. It was glorious to get on a swing for two and bask in the beauty of an almost secluded part of the park. I could have spent hours in this subtropical paradise and will remember it when I need a peaceful time. I really don't know what took me this long to find this beautiful little corner of City Park, but I'm glad that I found it.

Yelp
I thought the Botanical Garden was very underwhelming -- even for $12. This is probably one of the least pretty least diverse gardens I've been to. The pictures on the website looks infinitely better than the real thing. Was in and out in 30 minutes.
google avatar

Yelp
Not a very big garden, but also not very expensive. Good place to hang out, see cacti, a train set, trees. I really liked the "prehistoric plants" section where you got to see the living fossils, which are mostly ferns and weird looking trees. There's also a surprise, which is there is a live Alligator Gar in one of the ponds and is just chilling there. I was shocked to see it and thought it was fake at first. But apparently they don't move very much unless they are attacking prey, which makes sense since they've been around since the Triassic period. Around the trains I ran into a friendly cat that rubbed bodies against my legs. There's a wedding venue area where you can host large events, and near the back, there is a stage you can do events, although it's a bit dim and was depressing to see during the day. But I think at night it would be nice with some string lights.

Yelp
My God, the views! The New Orleans Botanical Garden is located within City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. It features a wide variety of plants and gardens, including the Rose Garden, Butterfly Walk, Japanese Garden, and more. It's a beautiful place to explore and enjoy nature in the heart of the city for the low cost of $12. I probably took around 100 photos, maybe more. You have to visit the garden if you're in the city of New Orleans, you won't regret it!

Yelp
WOW! This place was so magical. It was my first time going here and I was wowed by all the blooms, information and even history this garden had to offer. It goes into how Enrique Alférez brought the botanical gardens back to life in the 80's with his architecture and his beautiful sculptures. That section of the gardens was so well designed and had some great reading opportunities. The blooms at the gardens were so beautiful and extravagant. Because of the weather here in New Orleans there were flowers and plants I'd never seen. When we were almost done with the gardens there was a whole other section dedicated to an actual garden! They had vegetables, fruits, greenhouses and even an amphitheater to have cooking shows. I was so impressed with this space. It was informative to have all the talking cards they had and to explain what each plant was since some grow underground. I don't have a green thumb by no means, but this really intrigued me to try it! This place was so awesome and I can't wait to go back already!

Yelp
What a spectacular local treasure. My friend and I are plant addicts, so we couldn't wait to visit the gardens. We didn't know it was also the same day as a plant show and a craft show, which made the visit that much better. We were so impressed with how large and well maintained the gardens were. I love that there were many different sections and types of gardens. The hothouse area where they had an amazing cacao tree and beautiful orchids was wonderful. I also really liked the incredibly peaceful and serene Japanese garden. It was cool to see the huge okra and sweet potatoes growing in the vegetable garden. The playful part of the garden was a fun surprise; we had a great time taking pictures in the section where all the skeleton and fall scenes were set up. If NOLA weren't so hot during summer I'd love to come back and see all the flowers blooming. But, I'll settle for just seeing some of the roses blooming, and come in the fall when the weather is bearable. The gift shop needs a bit of work as it had a pretty sad selection, but with its gorgeous green space, clean restrooms, and plenty of parking, this is definitely a gem in NOLA.

Yelp
Came in late on a Friday afternoon. $12 admission is a decent price for how much there is to see, especially in the spring! We didn't pay attention to the hours and hadn't realized it closed at 4 so we wished we'd had more time or that the front desk would have let us know when we purchased the tickets, busy we still got to see majority of the areas. The trees are beautiful and the property is so amazing. Their green house was full of so much tropical plant and they had tons of orchids! I even found a salamander in one of the plants. They do a good job of signage to inform you of plant species. Would be an amazing place for senior or engagement picture.

Yelp
I love the botanical gardens. It is so beautiful, specially I. The spring and you learn so much about what grows in the area. We came for the spring show and it was such a great time, new plants, new trees, and even a soil test kit. You get to know about the native trees. Some different types of plants for different weather like dessert, humid areas and even trees from Philippines. Beautiful flowers, rose gardens, majestic oat trees, butterfly garden and even herbs and vegetables. So much to see and places to take cute pics with your date.

Yelp
Since I'm now a New York Botanical Garden member, I also get free access to other member botanical gardens. When I first discovered this, I started looking at all the BGs around the US, hoping to make use of my membership. NOBG is a member garden, so we were both able to get in for free. If you're not a member, the price is $12 per adult We spent about 1.5 hours at NOBG. At 10 acres, there is a lot to see. Their conservatory is smaller than NYBG, but there are a ton of really nice flowers in there. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and if the weather is nice, it's a wonderful place to spend a few hours. There are tons of benches under trees for shade and I can see myself coming here often just to hang out with some friends if I lived in the area. It's also conveniently located in City Park, right next to the art museum, which is free to visit.

Yelp
I should have known and looked at the hours of operation.. We arrived to the park and wanted to check out the Botanical Garden but realized they were closing in 30 mins. We did the best we could for the last 30 mins of the garden. It was definitely hot around 4pm in August. Lots of greenhouses so the air was just stuck in there causing me to sweat way more than needed. But it was pretty to look at. Lots of areas to check out, lily ponds, living fossil area, rain forest, cactus/ succulents area. Rehab for certain plants. Flowers. Greenery. There was so much more to see but so little time to squeeze in for 30 mins. We went a little over and the workers were going around and checking the place if there were anyone left. But if you were locked in, you just need to call security and they will let you out. Make sure to give yourself more than 30 mins and maybe bring a fan or an umbrella.. it's hot...

Yelp
Came here by trolley from Canal Street next to the French Quarter. Canal street trolley route still severed by the wreckage of the Hard Rock Hotel, so you need to catch the trolley north of the wreckage, about a mile from the center of the French Quarter. Leave your stilettos for the nighttime, and wear comfortable shoes, as we walked at least a half mile walk from the trolley stop to get here. $8 admission to the gardens, located behind the Art Museum. And right at the entrance is the obligatory gift shop. If you don't want to pay the $8, you can see the outside Sculpture museum area free, and then wander through the 1300 acres of New Orleans Park, checking out the stadiums, ponds, canals. But even a cheap skate like me can afford the $8. Some magnificent vistas, walkways, arches, architecture, and water fountains. Came here in January 2020, so no roses in bloom. Wife thrilled by numerous butterflies in the butterfly garden area, the Japanese garden, and the greenhouse full of cactus, making it worthwhile for one of us. Highlight of the day for me was seeing the New Orleans historical train garden, with a circular track running maybe 150 feet through miniature sections of New Orleans, complete with houses, buildings, water towers, railway stations, restaurants, and vehicles stopped at the railroad gates. At least they have the track laid out. The only train cars we saw were a stationary few, 1/22 scale, permanently mounted on the side tracks. We didn't see any trains on the main tracks, let alone trains running today. Was told that the train runs on weekends, before the pandemic hit. The city has apparently cut back on garden maintenance, due to the pandemic, so some of the lawns and nurseries are starting to look a little ragged with weeds, just like my back yard! $8 admission fee waived on Wednesdays, but for locals only!

Yelp
I had lunch across the street at Ralph's on the Park and then headed over to explore City Park. The park itself is well maintained and beautiful with plenty of places to sit and soak up the shade or sunshine whichever you prefer. I also made a point to visit the gardens. The admission is $10 for as long as you'd like to stay. After spending time in The Quarter, this was a nice and much needed change of pace.

Yelp
Coming from Chicago that has so many beautiful gardens that it is necessary. When I find a visit other states to visit their gardens in this was one. One thing I loved about this Botanical garden is that it was very affordable. The one I have visited in Atlanta is bigger of course but it was costly. So the New Orleans Botanical garden was only $12 and we got there maybe an hour and a half before closing which was perfect. It was hot but it's separate areas that provide a lot of crochet. They are beautiful backdrops and beautiful flowers of course. Plus herb and medicinal plants that were very interested in. They also had vegetation plants. There is well and it left to let you know what was in season which was really cool. A couple of swings, some fountains the beautiful trees less associated with New Orleans as well. And I took some very beautiful pictures there in the garden on my birthday. Very memorable experience. Definitely recommended.

Yelp
Something to do to kill time. They have a map where you can follow to see everything in order.

Yelp
Toured the beautiful botanical gardens in New Orleans. We were looking for something to do so we went to City Park and found out that they had a botanical gardens so we decided to check it out. I loved the beautiful trees and statues that sprawled the acres of the garden. The Asian zen garden was one of my favorites, though my most favorite part was the vegetable garden and outdoor grilling patio. Man, I'd love to have that in my back yard. There were also some neat succulents and cacti in an greenhouse that my youngest son liked. Overall, it was better than I had imagined it would be

Yelp
What lovely gardens! I have been through here on several occasions. The China Lights display a few years ago was spectacular. During Celebration in the Oaks, they have holiday displays here. Most recently, I came in for the concerts Wednesday evenings in October. They now have an open-air kitchen for special occasions. There is a greenhouse with a rainforest and plants, another with fossilized plants. The train garden is my favorite when the trains are running. A small sculpture garden is so peaceful. The Japanese gardens seem a bit tight, and I felt claustrophobic when walking through it. I highly recommend anyone coming when they are in the area, especially when events are being held. Everything is so well maintained. This is really such a special spot.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Feel bummed I'm writing this but I also feel like it's important to share to those excited to come here since it's a ways out from the French Quarter, where most tourists are likely to be staying. Maybe it's due to post-COVID but this garden looks neglected. Not much going on, a fair amount of dying plants and scarce looking lots of land. I recommend coming back during peak season or saving this visit for a later time. Even the train station garden was looking weathered but they were employees diligently working on keeping the trains moving for the kiddos and visitors. For $10 per adult for admission, your money is better spent at cafe du monde nearby and walking around the beautiful free park.
google avatar

Tomas R.

Yelp
The botanical gardens are such a peaceful and calming experience if you go towards closing time and not first thing in the morning. I personally think you only need about 1.5 hours to take your time and explore the grounds. I am wanting to bring a book or laptop work so I can enjoy the scenery one day. From venue spaces, to botany, to a open wood fired kitchen pizza, there is so much here! Entry was about $8 per adult and they sell alcohol. Gotta love New Orleans right?? I love the sloth like fish that's indoors. Quite a bit of nooks and crannys here to explore. I recommend being aware of your shoes in case you go the day of or after it rains. Plenty of photo opportunities and you'll see folks getting their pictures taken.
google avatar

Yelp
Activity four of the day. Another pick by the birthday girl. I highly recommend visiting this place when you're in the city. Only about 3 miles from the French Quarter, but you end feeling like you're so far away from the city. It's how I feel whenever I'm in Central Park and don't hear New York traffic. There are different sections to enjoy. There weren't too many flowers booming yet, but what we did see were quite pleasing. There's a greenhouse with a collection of succulent, tons of plants, a vegetable garden and art work by Enrique Alférez. My favorite section however was the Japanese garden. It was calm and soothing and forced me to sit in a corner and relax. Just like every other place in the city, you're allowed to drink in the premises. They have a few options out front. I was in heaven. Great place to unwind and get away from the chaos in the French Quarter.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
There is parking right by the entrance which was nice. If you prepay you still have to wait in a long line which seemed counterproductive. When inside, the location was beautiful and all the flowers were labeled as to what they were . Lots of butterflies and bees flying around. We unfortunately got stuck all the way in the back from a rain storm and walking back to the front was very wet! This is very low land here and in less than an hour we had to walk through water that was ankle high or higher through water and mud. Be prepared and carry an umbrella and wear shoes you don't mind getting wet lol. Overall a very nice relaxing stroll.
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
Incredible display of thousands of plants, from trees to flowers to succulents, and even vegetable gardens. We easily spent most of the afternoon here, and I still don't feel like I saw everything. There is also a sculpture garden and a model train attraction. Would make an amazing venue for a celebration, wedding, or photoshoots! Definitely planning to return soon.

Yelp
GO HERE!!!! We are so glad we paid to tour this beautiful garden. We read some not so good reviews of this place not being maintained but that was not our experience at all. It was breath taking! So much variety to see. The mini train yard exhibit, (trains run on weekends only), was so cute. The grounds were impeccably maintained. We enjoyed their working herb & veggie garden. Super cool that they do outdoor cooking demonstrations using their own produce. It's a very romantic place. We loved swinging on the large swing. The bird watching was also wonderful! The sculptures, exhibit and fountains set everything off. There is a Story Time section for the kids which is a separate area altogether and an amusement park. We didnt visit that side but it looked cute. Strolling around and taking your time to fully immerse yourself at every turn will take about 3-4 hours. I really recommend coming here. Its magical!

Yelp
We LOVED this place so much. It was 10$ to get in. It was veeeery hot but we made it work. There were tons of flowers, plants and other adorable stuff spread over the vast property. We saw spiders, the mini train setup, the cacti, birds, sculptures, butterflies, and neat architecture.

Jack F.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the beautiful garden spaces with well maintained buildings and greenhouses. The hedges around the roses were elaborate and interesting in they way they are pruned. I had not seen that shape before (see photo). With sustainable gardening for pollinators being such a timely and important topic I hope they expand their small butterfly/pollinator garden into a designed and more important larger space with interpretation and an educational component. I loved the "Kitchen in the Garden" concept and the many vegetable plots were interesting and well cared for. One thing they could do better is clean up and weed the large, long shrub borders at the far end of the garden near the stage. They need some maintenance and seem to be a bit neglected. It's easy to critique as a visitor, but I know it's difficult to maintain such a large elaborate public garden perfectly at all times. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours enjoying nature, relaxing and getting some garden inspiration.

Yelp
106 heat index today didn't stop us from this amazing experience! As we entered for our tickets we were welcomed with a smile. Statue gardens, zen garden, butterfly garden, kitchen garden, medicinal garden, tropical and geological areas, lily pond...the beauty was overwhelming. There were opportunities to explore and rest, enjoying the beauty that has been so painstakingly created. Visiting NOLA? It's a MUST see! I can't wait to visit in other seasons.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of taking a Lyft here out of the French Quarter on a drizzling Thursday after the new year, and finding out that most people in Nola don't like the rain. I had the garden practically to myself! The entrance fee is minimal for how much joy you get out of this garden (if you are a plant and peaceful space person). From what looked like shared garden plots with sparsely growing produce to native plants and a collection of succulents in the greenhouse, the first part of the botanical gardens is a great place to bring kids. There's also plenty of places to sit and take it all in, with ambient sounds of a memorial fountain rippling in the background. A lot of the garden area was still in holiday mode, with decor leftover and sporadically placed structures in the middle of grassy patches, but I liked seeing how they make use of the space for large events. Even the light sculptures, though not lit up during the day, were pretty cool to see as they were, for the majority of them, incorporated into the garden setting. I walked through the space dedicated to Enrique Alferez's sculptures and was pleased to see historical context for a handful of pieces, and made my way to a mostly dormant rose garden. But my favorite part was the arboretum! There was two wings of tropical plants, thriving in the chilly Nola January. Lush, well designed, and with educational plaques (not super consistent, but enough to teach me a few things), I spent most of my time enjoying the tropics. A good trip out of the main party area! I followed my garden visit with some beignets and hot cocoa at the 24-cafe next door.

Yelp
My review is mostly for the special events in the kitchen at the botanical garden-they are fantastic!! I've now been to one by Pizza Delicious where we learned secrets of pizza making, paired with great beers selected by Dan Stein! Included in these beers was an introduction to Zony Mash! I have also attended one by Saba teaching us how to make pitas and their famous hummus! Both classes were such fun! The outdoor kitchen is amazing-it's big enough to have a good number of people but small enough that you can see what's going on & ask questions! I believe that both classes were $40 and well worth it! Amazing addition to the botanical gardens!

Yelp
Wednesday free for locals So many beautiful areas to cover Japanese garden Train garden Cactus garden Fruit and vegetable garden Botanical garden obviously There was a cafeteria as well in the vegetable garden
google avatar

Yelp
Could be better. Some parts were very well kept, a bit bland sections. I recommend the *free* sculpture garden a block or two away, directly across cafe du monde. Even the sculpture garden had better rose bushes than the botanical garden.

Yelp
what an unbelievable place. for sure got our money's worth with the family here. it was endless spectacular gardens, but the highlight was lunch the japanese garden. my boys particularly loved the living fossils greenhouse (aka ferns) and the rainforest with waterfall. the train wasn't working but they still got to see the largest set of their lives and they've been building train tracks at home like crazy since. they enjoyed playing on the 'secret stage' (if you can find it, it's probably the furthest point from the entrance). it was easily the coolest gardens i've been to in my life. we will for sure swing by next time we're in town!

Yelp
Stumbled into this event by happenstance, live music, great food, phenomenal gardens. Really perfect day. I believe the music/food/drink situation happens every Wednesday evening.

Yelp
What a gorgeous place! The New Orleans Botanical Garden is a gorgeous wonderland tucked away in City Park. I had always heard about it, but never visited because I figured it wasn't much different than the rest of the park. I was wrong! When you walk in, it feels like you're walking into a secret garden. You're greeted by a unique water feature and beautiful archways. Follow the path and you will see all kinds of different landscaping including a fruit and vegetable garden, a butterfly garden and a toy train through a model of the different neighborhoods of New Orleans. If you go on a weekday it's quite quiet and a great place to relax. Although you're in the middle of the city, it feels as if you're in a different world and I like that there are different places to sit if you just want to relax. The garden is free entry on Wednesday, so you have no excuse to not drop in and relax by the gorgeous fountain on a nice afternoon or take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful grounds. Pretend that the gardens are a part of your luxurious estate- that's what I did! This is a real treasure in New Orleans and must see for every local and visitor.

Yelp
I had my rehearsal dinner here! The people that work at City Park will go above and beyond to make you happy and their food is a huge plus++++! If you ever need a coordinators work with, ask for Shawn. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I wanted to see the Japanese garden.I paid $8.Yakumo Japanese garden was beautiful and well done.I found that this garden was a gift from city of Matsue in Japan.I thought Yakumo came from Koizumi Yakumo who was a famous writer in Matsue. Other gardens were also beautiful. The volunteers were working in the morning. When I was leaving, I was lost.A lady kindly escorted me to the exit.thanks.

Yelp
Even though it was pouring rain when I got there I still walked around and enjoyed this garden. Came prepared with a rain pancho and umbrella. Actually felt the rain made it even more beautiful and serene. Beautifully well kept garden.

Yelp
The gardens are nice and relaxing. We really enjoyed the area under the huge oak trees and swings. The gardens are not too big that you leave exhausted but they are big enough that you get to see different water fountains, species of plants, and multiple themed areas. If you want a relaxing stroll away from the craziness of the French Quarter then this is your place.

Yelp
Loved the botanical garden! Easy walk. We passed a wedding photo shoot It's also next to a park where kids can play on different structures. $8 for the botanical garden and $4 for the kid's park

Yelp
Beautiful walk through gardens with water features and sculptures throughout. We probably would've enjoyed ourselves more if it hadn't been so unbearably hit the day we went. The gals at the front desk seemed more interested in their phones.

Yelp
This was an unexpected gem in NOLA. My fiancé and I were visiting the city for a short 24 hr period from Houston. We weren't expecting to be captivated by any new terrain since we also live in a bayou, but the botanicals totally proved us wrong. This huge, and beautiful gardens is a great way to start of a day New Orleans. Our favorite spots were the areas in the greenhouses, particularly the pre-historic plants! Admission is $8 for adults, NO student discounts. I highly suggest checking this spot out but BE AWARE of hot days. Try to get here early in the day to avoid the intense sun. Luckily they have water and other drinks available for purchase, but the heat can still overwhelm the experience if you're not prepared properly. Remember water and sunscreen.

Yelp
If I lived in NOLA I would have an annual pass to this place! I had such a great day wondering around this garden- it would be so great to check it out as the seasons change. A great place to find some peace, and also a lovely romantic date spot. Pictured are what was blooming the first weekend of December. If you are quiet enough you'll spot some butterflies too! Also check out their nighttime Celebration in the Oaks- Christmas lights & displays thruout the gardens. This year there was a great train display- fun for kids & adults!

Yelp
We recently came to explore after finally signing up for a membership. We have only ever been in the gardens for night time events so it was nice to see it in the day time. It was absolutely beautiful. We got to reminisce by finding the exact location my husband proposed back in 2017. We also witnessed another sweet couple get engaged while we explored the grounds. Our oldest daughter loves nature so she had the time of her life. It was very hot when we went but there were plenty of shaded areas to get a break from the sun. Now that we are members we plan to make this a monthly family outing.
