Google
This convention center has seen many upgrades. Staff is professional and friendly. It can accommodate very large gatherings. One great thing is that it is near lots of great dining options.

Google
This place is H-U-G-E!!! When you think you've reached the end, wrong! Lots of 'atrium' space, more than a few large 'arena' spaces, at least 3 levels of conference rooms. There were some quick dining options, some coffee carts but not all of them were open. Hard to get wifi on some of the areas tho.

Google
I attended NOLA PickleFest at this convention center with my friend, and we both had a great time. Staff were friendly and helpful, everything was clean and spacious, and the parking lot was really close and easy to find (it was $23 for the day, but attendance to the event was free). As for the event itself, there were so many pickleball courts! If nobody was using one of the courts, we could just hop in and play ourselves. Not only that, but we could've rented and tried out paddles for the day for free. Overall, I have no complaints about the convention center or PickleFest!

Google
Big, spacious, clean convention center in a good location. Overall, the convention center was easy to get to and easy to leave from. The facility is giant and well-lit, and the audio-visual experience first-rate. Also, the place is clean, which is not always the case at such places. Pretty centrally located in New Orleans as well.

Google
This place is absolutely huge! They can host multiple conferences at once and you would hardly even notice. The conference rooms were very nice, and the La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom is stunning and incredibly spacious. Service was excellent, and it is worth mentioning that the food, true to New Orleans style, was really good. The Morial Convention Center is also connected to the Hilton Riverside by the Riverside Walk, allowing you to go back and forth in cool, air conditioned comfort. Five stars for the Morial!

Google
There are do many vendors representing this week. Food, clothing, ingredients, hats, purses/bags, wellness and health along with some of the dopest DJ's this side of Heaven.

Google
I am glad that I packed my tennis shoes because there is A LOT of walking. It was hard to find a designated parking spot. There were no wheelchairs for guests to use but there were scooters to rent which has to be an ADA violation. It was a nice, clean and air conditioned facility. Eventhough, there were about 10,000 attendees; the restrooms were clean. There were water stations all around the facility. You do not have to worry about food because there was a lot of variety.

Google
Extremely huge, multi-storey convention center with multiple halls, exhibit areas and lecture rooms. Walking from one end to the other is like exercise. There's also the Riverwalk outlet mall right outside, where you can book cruise tours on the Mississippi :)

Yelp
Clean spacious airport. I didn't have my TSA pre-check and was able to move through the lines pretty well.

Yelp
Recently attended a nursing conference with 13,000 attendees. It was quite large, as all are, but this one seemed on the newer side with renovated bathrooms. Food was average, which is better than the below average food at other venues I've been to in the past. Locations of breakout sessions were quite far apart though, and there was lack of staff to help wayfind, which was quite frustrating. It didn't seem like they were staff of the event center, but rather random staff that were hired to just stand there. However, the location of the convention was pretty close to French Quarter, which is where most tourists and conference goers stay anyway - it'd be a quick 15 min bus ride from the shuttle from hotel in French Quarter, or a good, easy 1 mile walk that is very flat (easy depending on the weather - hopefully not too humid when you're there, and not raining!) Wouldn't mind coming back here for a conference in the future (although hopefully not anytime soon - maybe 10 years from now)

Yelp
Beautiful convention center. Tons of square footage in great shape with a lot of opportunities for different conferences. Many large rooms a food court in the middle. Kiosks along the way with coffee, snacks and quick food. Very nice with lots of New Orleans references. Signage everywhere to get people where they need to go. Sits right next to the Riverwalk Outlets with lots of food options in addition to shopping.

Yelp
Was here for conference event 14,000 in attendance. The food was dreadful , stale and poorly executed. For the conference price there wasn't a lot of options. Lines for bathrooms , rude unhelpful security. The size is a bit intimidating and the breakout sessions were at opposite ends of the convention hall. Twenty to forty minutes between sessions and still couldn't get to the conference center. Not impressed at all for a city who is normally nice and welcoming. Didn't feel it here !

Yelp
This place is gigantic! I was here for a graduation ceremony. Make sure you manage your time well because there is lots of walking and it is a big facility. Since I am from out-of-state, there is a rideshare pickup for Uber/Lyft at a designated area outside Hall G (or so). The security guard was helpful to direct where I needed to go. Nice looking facility, looks clean. Just lots of walking! I wish there were signs for Uber/Lyft from inside the building so I wouldn't have pissed off my driver for not knowing where I was going. Overwise, it was OK.

Yelp
Huge convention center. Lots of places to sit in between sessions. The bathrooms were very clean.

Yelp
I recently attended an ARVO convention and was impressed by the size of this convention center. It was massive! What an excellent choice in venue for a convention of this size! The building is beautiful and clean, and was only 10 minutes walking distance from my hotel. Very convenient location!

Yelp
Even as an event planner, I found this convention center a little confusing to navigate. Maybe it's because I'm dyslexic when it comes to numbers. Lots of escalators to different meeting room ranges. Carry a map with you if possible... this place is HUGE. Don't wear high heels. On the bright side, it IS wonderfully air conditioned to protect you from that New Orleans heat. And the meeting spaces themselves are clean and spacious. When I arrived, I ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwich at one of the food concession stands. Very typically overpriced food like at a concert venue. Small portions and dry (washed it down with blue Powerade) but the cashiers were nice. Close proximity to restaurants and bars nearby. Just find the best exit out of the convention center using Google Maps. Overall not my favorite city or venue but perfect for massive events.

Yelp
The convention center staff do a great job of assisting you. My team had a booth at this year's FETC and everyone from lighting, to maintenance, to food services and the folks scanning your badges were kind and super helpful. We had no issues with the venue or process and even when we had self imposed issues, they assisted and tried to help problems solve! Food is pretty good too!!!

Yelp
Came here for AANP 2023 national conference. This place is huge so we had the entire end of the conference hall for the NP conference which was great. The place is freezing, so I suggest you bring a sweater. Unfortunately, most of the food options were not open, so that kind of sucked. I was hoping to get PJs coffee here but no luck. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Man, this place is HUUUUGE. You definitely will need some good walking shoes for this place. I stopped by the convention center to pick up race materials for the Rock n Roll New Orleans Half Marathon. Fortunately for me, I only had to stick around the convention center for a few minutes and did not need to walk all over the place. At the time (Feb. 2022), the race organizers had a mask mandate, but I'm not sure if you have to wear a mask in the convention center for other events.

Yelp
I was here with family for a volleyball tournament one Saturday for our little cousin. Outside of Hall E and down a little ways was the Atrium where we ended up getting a late lunch due to the games scheduled. I got a Shrimp Po Boy and do not remember the exact cost but it was under $20.00 with a drink. I was not expecting much from a food vendor in a convention center but was pleasantly surprised that this Po Boy was really good. It had hot and crispy fried shrimp with a solid French roll. The remoulade is what really made this whole thing come together with the crisp lettuce and tart pickles. Very solid and we were going to eat there again on Sunday but they were closed that day. If you are in the convention center and in a pinch this Po Boy was real good.

Yelp
I've had more than one event at the convention center. It is a tired old building, though at least it's been through enough renovations to have solid bathrooms and some charging stations. Walking from one end to the other takes fifteen minutes or so (particularly something to bear in mind if wearing dressy shoes). There are innumerable doors, but these days they've taken to locking most of them. What can be said for it is that it's a downtown location and you can walk to many NOLA attractions. It's also worthy of note that on the outside of the freeway, it is at least conceivable to park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk to the convention center, though it isn't the best area in terms of having solid roads or being where I would want to leave a nicer car. Maybe someday there will be a big revamp of the center, but for now at least it's an excuse to be in New Orleans.

Yelp
Had the wonderful opportunity of being able to attend the essence festival this year in New Orleans Louisiana. Had a great time and so enjoyable... Experiencing new and interesting things around every corner. One of my favorite was meeting the Wakanda Warriors from Black Panther Film .
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
This convention center is massive. It can accommodate many many people. Moving from one room to another isn't always easy as the 3rd floor doesn't go all the way across so sometimes you have to drop down to the second floor and go up another escalator to the third floor. Also the bathrooms seemed small and there were always lines. I did like that they did have water filling stations. Overall, it was a good conference.

Yelp
Attended LUNA Fète at the Convention Center last night and I'm actually kicking myself for not attending until this year. So many things to do! We started by grabbing a drink in a really cool flashy cup then walked around looking in all the art booths. Along the way we saw the Baby Dolls dancing under interactive lights. After that we went across to the park where there we tons of lights and music. Everyone was lit up like a rave. Lastly as we were leaving, we had to stop and listen to a really great brass band playing on the other side of the Convention Center. Best of all it was free to get in. So much fun!!! May go again tonight....

Yelp
So far not my favorite convention center. I'm attending IFT here this week. There are plentiful bathrooms but they are all spread out, you either have to exit the exhibition hall to find them or go to the sides of the hall. They are well marked at least, but be prepared to walk at least 5 minutes to find one. Not all of the doors are accessible as well, you can exit the hall anywhere but security might make you go back into the hall to a different entrance. This exhibition hall seems bigger than McCormick, where IFT is usually held, but I don't think it is, I think it's just the way it's set up. Overall not a huge fan.
google avatar

Yelp
This convention center is well over a mile long, so you should know which hall you need to be going to so you can either park in the closest lot or be dropped off and picked up at the most appropriate spot. My most recent visit here was for the Oddities and Curiosities Convention. Masks are required, as are proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test, as of January 2022 at least. The booths were spaced to optimize social distancing, which was nice. Everything seems clean. I am not too sure how well everything is actually cleaned. I am glad that there were employees walking around asking people to appropriately wear their masks. I look forward to whatever next brings me here.

Yelp
I've been to my share of convention centers and this is one of the worst. Yes, it's one of the biggest, but who cares? I never attend a convention here. The design, both interior and exterior, is extremely dated. The food court offerings are awful. In a city known for it's food, at least you could offer excellent food, but not here. And there isn't even any good food right outside, so if you are at the center, you can't leave to grab something good (unless you have plenty of time and can hit up Cochon). It's not in an awful location, but you do have to walk at least a few blocks to find some good food. A convention center, much like an airport, can really represent a city, and this one (also much like the New Orleans airport), does not. At least it's named for Morial (the first African-American mayor of New Orleans) and you can hire a jazz band. That's all I got.

Yelp
Came here in February 2018 for APTA's Combined Sections Meeting, and was overall pretty satisfied. Pretty easy convention center to navigate (which I always appreciate), really good signage to direct you to the right places. Decent chairs, decent carpet. There's an in-venue food area that came in clutch a couple times and wasn't outrageously expensive. Lots of outlets and couches everywhere for when I was in between sessions. Easy to find, good drop off area for ubers outside the Halls. Walking distance from the Hilton and the Whitney if you're staying there (takes about 20 mins from the Whitney). Walking distance from Mothers restaurant if you're looking for a place to eat. Fit 16,000+ physical therapists. Basically, huge af.

Yelp
The Convention Center is great; we use it for trade shows, Mardi Gras balls and more. and it all works very well. BUT, there is that multimillion sidewalk that also killed 2 lanes of traffic! How do you plan on having 35,000 people driven to and dropped off at the various halls, plus food, and in high heels and full length gowns???? this is for just ONE evening!!! it will loo like a busy airport and better have as much security and parking enforcement as an airport terminal! what a waste of money just for looks, and certainly not for users.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
The isn't the largest convention center in the United States but with the way it stretches itself out it sure feels that way. It's actually the 6th largest convention center in the nation. There is 1.1 million square feet of contiguous exhibit space. It is conveniently located near the French Quarter. The staff was amazing. Every meeting room was set up perfectly. The audio visual was exactly as expected and did not disappoint on any level. The banquet food was delicious. My favorite being the short ribs, polenta cake, asparagus and baked tomatoes. The banquet service was exceptional. The staff was attentive and quick to anticipate our needs. Overall it was a great experience.

Yelp
This is kind of a sucky convention center honestly. It's old, and it shows. Things are less than clean including bathrooms which are few and far between. Public spaces are dark and the furniture has seen better days. Outlets are hard to find & the "free wifi" almost never connects. The folks working the catering are nice but inattentive and apathetic. I'm talking 1/2 filled glasses & half of a table simply not receiving part of a meal. Don't even think about asking for refills of the water pitchers on tables - not happening here. New Orleans is a great destination for sure but the place I spend most of that time sucks pretty hard.

Yelp
I recently attended a masquerade ball at the Convention Center. While this wasn't my first time attending an event here, it was my first chance to experience the food and beverage service provided by the Convention Center. Let me start by saying the staff and servers provided A+ service. They were very attentive and explained everything (i.e. the next course and timeframe for receiving it). I was really impressed! The food was about a 3.5 on a scale of 5. The bartenders at the various open bars were inconsistent. I had to find a bartender that made drinks to my liking and kept going back to her the whole night. Overall, I feel things were handled quite well considering the many people in attendance. I wouldn't hesitate to attend another event here.

Yelp
I've been to the Convention Center many times over the years. It's a great space: large enough to accommodate a full Mardi Gras parade and it's revelers, if that gives you any idea. Most recently I attended NOLA Christmas Fest here and I just loved the way it was all laid out, even though we parked in the lot way at the other end and had to walk to where we were going. The staff at the Convention Center is always helpful and they're good at telling you where you need to be and when. My only complaint is that I wish there was more parking around the convention center. You have a few choices: park in the big lot by the Riverwalk or park across Tchoupitoulas in the lot they have over there. It can't be helped, but that's the only drawback of this otherwise great space.

Yelp
We had fun attending the Wizard Con at the convention center. Restrooms always has an attendant near by keeping the restroom in order. I just have a problem with the door to each stalls, there is like a big gap that anyone can see you sitting in the toilet. Like what the heck! Little peep show going on there. The food they have is so pricey so it's good that I am a local to know not to buy food at the convention center but to walk out to the River Walk or restaurant are there for better food and price. I love it that there are multiple outlet for us to use to charge our phones throughout the day. The convention is huge so bring your tennis shoes along if you have heels. There are lots of parking but it does get pricey. Bring a jacket because it does get cold inside.

Yelp
Attending the APA here this week. The Center is spread out over a mile (!) and only one door is open so in order to get to your meeting space you have to walk all the way to one end, then double back. Do not wear anything but comfy walking shoes for meetings here! Furthermore at 11 am at the start of the conference today there was not a SINGLE place to get coffee or a snack. The food court was completely shut down. I actually had to leave the meeting early because I was feeling dizzy and lightheaded from not eating or drinking after getting up at 2 am to fly in for mid-day meetings. Altogether not impressed with the design or the amenities. Also in a somewhat desolate part of town that their official website refers to as the "Garden District" which is untrue. You are actually in the Warehouse District which is visually appealing if you like old buildings but is eerily deserted, at least all the streets I walked on today were. Only plus is that the Hampton Inn directly across from the Center is quite charming.

Yelp
This is definitely a great venue for all things big!! I attended this year's Wizard World's Comic Con with friends and family. The event is 3 days long with a huge following of fans. A giant hall was full of vendors and artists and there was space for several vehicles and large set-ups including a stage, demonstrations, and photo-ops. There are bathrooms available in every direction and a couple areas to buy food and drinks with tables and chairs too. Upstairs from the hall, there were rooms with conferences, gaming, etc. I think that the event would not be as good in a smaller venue. And this was just the end of the Convention Center!! I have attended several events here and the size of the halls always amaze me. The security seems very well organized and I felt safe here. Parking can be a gamble as far as price but there are plenty of lots across the street.

Yelp
I'm at the Convention Center for the Louisiana Teacher Leaders Summit. The conference facilities are in great condition. Every conference room is well-equipped with audio/visual tech. There are even AV tech employees staged at regular intervals; so, in the hypothetical event that something did go wrong or a presenter needed assistance setting up, a fixer could be there like Johnny-on-the-spot. Another example: as the crowd was arriving for sign-in, I saw a drink get dropped in the foyer. Now, the disappointed dropee hurried off to her scheduled meeting. But, just moments later, a Convention Center employee was there to take care of the messy hazard. The lunch catering has been totally adequate. Meals are self-service. And, the food-service employees run back and forth from kitchen to dozens of buffet tables, even with hundreds of hungry conference goers! My final note of praise goes out to the employees servicing the waste bins and restrooms. These guys kept everything clean and fully stocked. I never saw any mess piles or mysterious puddles, never smelled the stale funk of an unkempt lavatory. With the crowd the teachers summit draws, this was a pleasant surprise!

Yelp
I was in New Orleans in July for the annual Beachbody Coach Summit and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center was the main building used for the seminars/meetings, workshops, group workouts, and shopping area. Because of the tens of thousands of people attending the summit, the convention center was absolutely packed. It was a fine enough facility to hold everyone, though very long and it would take quite awhile to walk from one end to another and difficult if you were short on time or had mobility issues. Like many convention centers, most (if not all) of the rooms had concrete floors and air conditioning blasting, which was great for when we were working out, but quite cold in both temperature and atmosphere when attending the workshops. There were different pop-up stations for the Shakeology bars to get freshly made smoothies, as well as other popular spots, like those for shopping and information, but it seemed that many of the people working at the convention center had no clue what was going on, where anything was, or were misinformed and gave us completely wrong information or directions. We didn't necessarily expect everyone to know exactly what was going on, but with a conference this size, we thought it was fair to assume that the people working at the center would maybe have maps or at least minimal information to help direct all of the people coming in and out. All in all, it was okay and probably the best option with everything considered, but wish the building was designed a bit differently, rather than what seemed like just one long path to get from one room/location to another.
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Like a big maze with many rooms. Easy access to activities & dining across the street. We didn't have many snacks provided during our conference, besides coffee and a few pastries. At our big banquet at the end of the conference, we were provided with chicken with beets, a strawberry pecan salad, a peach tart, and iced tea.
google avatar

Yelp
Soooo large! It has so much going on when there's a convention. It has to be 10+ football fields. I really like the area. And outside is the riverfront, so that can be a nice view. Loved New Orleans Comic Con 2018 so much. It was a blast.

Yelp
The New Orleans Convention Center isn't quite the biggest convention center around (it is the 6th largest in the U.S.) but it is inspiring from the exterior. It stretches about 1-mile long and has some huge rooms (even big enough for our huge Mardi Gras floats to ride through with ease). The convention center caters to large conferences but it also has tons of smaller meeting spaces for a more intimate setting. The F&B for the convention center is provided by Centerplate. The food is pretty good here compared to other convention centers. You can get authentic New Orleans cuisine here without leaving the building. I have attended many events here in the past from car shows, dance competitions, Mardi Gras balls, and conferences. While I like the convention center and all the business it brings to our city it could still use some improvements: * A new full-service hotel that is connected to the center (lots of convention centers have connected hotels now). * Discounted parking for attendees ($20 or so for a half day of parking isn't discounted parking). * More food options during busy times (the small food court doesn't cut it). * A moving walkway would be really nice. I've heard that this is the #1 gripe from convention attendees. That they have to walk so far to get anywhere over here because it is just one long corridor of halls. The only improvement they have done recently is adding the Great Hall which is the new main entrance to the convention center. While that alone isn't going to attract more business the much talked about renovations will (new hotel that will be connected to the convention center, moving walkway, revised street layout in front of convention center, and possibly more exterior work done). There are only a handful of cities that most people around the world always want to go to. New Orleans is on that short list. Make the convention center great in order to keep attracting the people that love New Orleans and want to bring their business to our amazing city.

Yelp
Went for the essence fest and this convention center is huge! Clearly amendable to holding 10s of thousands of people. Temperature was always cool and staff were friendly. They struggled a little with facilitating Uber rides or a good cafeteria but there was a Starbucks there.

Yelp
This Convention Center is huge! It's rvery nice and offers a variety of spaces inside to accomodate different scale events. I came here for the Essence Festival this year and I was very impressed with the set up and how much space there was here, and how well it was utilized. There is a hall that accomodates large seminars/presentations with a stage, and then a large open area beyond that for rows of small booths as well as huge large-scale vendor booths. There's also an upper level which I found nice for a convention center to have mutliple floors. This place is also carpeted which I liked. I'm used to conventionn centers having concrete floors, so this was a welcome change. I give major kudos to the staff here working during the Essence Festival. Job well done.

Yelp
I attended the Zulu Ball here and was happy with the convention center staff for the service. The bathrooms needed more attention

Yelp
I recently attended the American Geophysical Union fall meeting at the NOLA conference center and was blown away! It's a huge space and there were only a couple of times throughout the week that I noticed any lack of cleanliness in the facilities. The bathrooms were constantly maintained despite the heavy crowds. Awesome! I'm sure there was a catering group hired but the group did an excellent job supplying thousands of geologists with beer every afternoon and coffee/tea every morning. It's not an easy task! Everything was clean- trash cans were frequently emptied, workers monitored the drink stations and made sure nothing got too messy. I'll likely never host an event needing such a large space but I was very impressed with it and would look forward to attending future events there!

Yelp
This place was a nice spacious and clean facilities for the New Orleans Rock n' Roll Marathon. The restrooms were clean as well. The location was very convenient and easy to get to from any hotel in the CBD via walking. It is located next to the Riverwalk, so besides the numerous restaurants across the street, there are plenty of close by dining options.

Yelp
The Convention Center was originally part of the 1984 Worlds Fair. I remember the Canadian exhibit, a space shuttle and shrunken heads all on display. Since the Worlds Fair, the Convention Center has undergone numerous expansions and is now a massive facility. I have been to car shows, trade shows, bodybuilding shows and conventions here. The facility is top notch and has a huge area to hold conventions. Numerous meeting rooms are also available. Make sure you know what hall you are going to, or you may be in for a long walk. There are several parking lots nearby that are reasonably priced. There was talk of further expansion, but that seems to have been put on hold for the time being.

Yelp
This is a nice convention center, as far as size, cleanliness and location. This year, the National Black MBA Association hosted its annual conference here. I was pleased with the fact that thousands of people were in attendance, but it never felt crowded or tight in the space. The staff was pleasant and kept the venue running smoothly. I didn't rent a car, but parking seemed simple enough for those who drove to the conference. There are paid spaces in the area (I did notice a couple of cars with parking tickets, so be mindful of the meters). Also, the convention center is walking distance to the French Quarter and although plenty of people were out on the streets, the area was orderly and quiet...interestingly. Many hotels and restaurants are within walking distance, so the choices are plentiful. The Riverwalk is next door as well. There is a Starbucks and UPS Store inside, for your convenience. Please note, the venue is massive, so ensure your footwear is comfy. My feet were killing me by the end of day 1, Ugh LOL. Overall, very nice venue.

Yelp
I was here for a conference earlier this month. The building itself is impressively large (there were actually two conferences happening at once), but I will echo what others said...it is very outdated in some aspects. Not horribly so, but could definitely benefit from a face life. I heard some people mention that they are expanding the conference center next summer, so maybe a remodel will be in the works as well. As for the staff here...the majority of the people that I encountered had an absolutely abysmal attitude. Very quick to respond with a snappy or bothered remark, which I was surprised by. If you aren't a people person, maybe you shouldn't be working in a place that is frequented by literal thousands of people on a daily basis. Also, they really need to do something about the Starbucks line. A coworker left our booth to get a coffee and it literally took her an hour to get back. This is not an exaggeration. People put in long days at big conferences like this and need their coffee, but waiting an hour for it is unacceptable.

Yelp
Went to HauntCon today at the convention center. I like this facility for conventions. This large and modern facility is conveniently located and has lots of great food vendors. New Orleans is a great place for conventions. I would visit a convention here anytime!

Yelp
Attended a conference that lasted 5 full days. The convention center is huge and you can easily get lost. There are not enough signage to point you to the right direction and this becomes especially difficult when you are running from one session to the next. Wifi signal was also weak on the part of the building where most of our sessions were held. We were fortunate enough to have been served one lunch in one of the rooms, but the room was located on the other wing of the building. Again, no signage. This may be the fault of the organizers, but even the room numbers were not large enough to read from a distance. The food was catered by CenterPlate and Creole inspired. Food was okay... Baked Alaska and Pudding dessert was yummy! Other than those negatives, the convention center is in a great location. Close to quite a number of hotels (most within a 15 minute walk) and restaurants.

Yelp
Huge, but somewhat dated convention center. Enormous lobby area still fills up for larger conventions. Ample meeting rooms for breakout sections, workshops, etc. Nice cafeteria area featuring local cuisine, Starbucks-could use more seating for lunchtime press. Also, lines tend to form @ breaks. Nice restrooms, helpful and attentive attendants keep the place clean and stocked. Outlet mall with food court just a short stroll away. Construction outside makes getting here a bit of a challenge, but it's the same everywhere-the price of progress.

Yelp
This convention center is WAY outdated and the signage and directions are sub-par. A few more direction signs and a new coat of paint, with new carpeting or new lighting would go such a long way. I felt slightly trapped in the 50s and could only find where I was going 50% of the time. They've got the space, they should do something amazing with it! Also, the Starbucks in the lobby area had THE LONGEST WAIT EVER. They need to do something about that!

Yelp
Went to the kick off event for Essence Festival and was amazed by this convention center. They have a lot of space and it was utilized perfectly for vendor space, forums, concerts and meet and greets.

Yelp
I'm not sure what to say about a cavernous mile long convention center that isn't surrounded by much except an overpriced outlet mall and a Mulatte's. It's not too far from Canal, so it has that going for it. But I was here for a conference and the entire conference was set up in the back end of the place which meant you were walking half a mile literally to get to anything. It was just empty space until you reached the food court. Some of the signage was confusing or misdirecting. The rooms were fine and the tech worked, so there's that. I'm not dogging the place as much as I'm thinking "What can I really Yelp! about? There's not much here."

Yelp
This is the third time I have been to this convention center for a national meeting. It is an enormous structure which makes it a popular place for meetings but I really think it needs updating. The rooms are dated and although the staff are very helpful and accommodating there is little they can do about the confusing configuration of the space. Also the food court is really the only option to get lunch if you don't have time to venture outside. They should offer better quality food options for visitors- what a lost opportunity.
