"£7 an hour to live your childhood dreams of being in a rock band and recording in a studio, I mean that’s cheaper than Guitar Hero for Xbox. Who can say no to that. If you already live the rock star life and just want to sit back and relax you can just catch one of New River Studios many gigs and exhibitions. Still a bit burnt out from the world tour? How about a game of Street Fighter or one of their other vintage arcade games. If you can’t even handle that, go pet Bagel the cat. She is #famous on instagram. Like, totes #adorbs." - The Barefaced Movement

Been here many a times, It’s the local pub, and I enjoy a pint or two HOWEVER sometimes the punk music is sooooo loud inside that you literally cannot hear anything or the person in front of you and my little ears start to hurt after 5 mins and it’s really only enjoyable for me in the summer when I can sit outside cause then I can actually hear. Maybe turning the music down slightly? Pls I beg ya

I went there for a gig, the place is not massive and even the stage is OK. People are pretty friendly, there is a nice selection of beers, and you can have some food, such as pizza or sandwich. The pizza wasn't the best, but I wasn't expecting more. It does the job, I guess. In terms of drinks, there are a lot of good beers.

Awesome place!! Great music, reasonably priced drinks, welcoming staff, always. The crowed this place attracts is friendly. Quite a quirky place. They allow you to hire spaces too, hence the art pictures from a life drawing class that was hosted here. And it's surrounded with art work outside, hence the other pictures. Plus they have various local cats roaming around, this one stayed 🐱 lovely place. Really cool ❤️

I attended an event at New River Studios on Saturday 22 November and what happened needs urgent attention from the owner. A man who seemed to be moving comfortably with the two male security staff suddenly came up to my friend and spat directly in his face. It happened so quickly that we did not even understand what triggered it but we were able to identify him and have a clear photo of his face. When we calmly reported the assault to security they ignored the man who spat and immediately accused us of being high even though we had only had two beers each. Instead of helping or taking the situation seriously they repeatedly told us to leave. The blonde manager with neck tattoos then verbally abused my friend telling him “It was probably because you are a piece of shit.” She then trespassed us from the venue while the man who spat on my friend remained inside without any consequences. Because of how serious this incident was we had to call the police afterwards and will be following up through the appropriate channels. This is a clear safeguarding failure and an unacceptable way to treat customers reporting an assault. I genuinely hope the owner investigates this situation properly because this behaviour from staff is completely unprofessional and reflects very badly on a venue that presents itself as a community arts space.

If you are part of the art scene and enjoy a more casual experience that still stimulates you, give this place a visit. I've loved it since the moment I stepped in. There is always something interesting going on, be it an art piece, chill music or just nice company. And you can make friends so easily! The beers are fantastic, they have both somewhat common beers and more crafty ones (my personal favourite is the mango beer, I could live on that). And don't get me started about the pizzas, one word only can sum them up: wow! The Vegana is borderline a gate into nirvana.

The kind of place you really need in your area - rough around the edges, a bit edgy and scruffy, the antithesis of your average safe, corporate experience. A great place to see bands - follow on social media for details. A few decent beers on tap from local breweries like Signature. Folks like me with no tattoos are made to feel welcome! 😄
