I had been a customer some years ago, but had to cancel when I moved out of the area. Since being back, I decided to sign up again and I'm thrilled that it's still so affordable and still high quality! Customer service has always been amazing and is still amazing today. I missed my new roots deliveries while I was away and I'm so glad to have their produce back in my belly! 🖤

Google
The substitutions I made to my order where not received. New Roots went above and beyond to bring pick up the items I didn't need and replace with substitutions. I didn't have to drive or lose out on my order. It was an excellent customer service experience. We had a few wonderful family meals enjoying the new produce. The make the process easy, customer friendly. Years ago I used them when I previously lived in Seattle and they were the same wonderful company back then. When my box got stolen they came to replace it. We enjoy the local stories, behind the food and options to purchase more. I loved the recipe ideas.

I’m so in love with this place!! They always go above and beyond in customer service and food is always fresh. I enjoy that I’m ordering local rather then a delivery service from a big company as I wish to give back to my community as much as possible. They seem to order seasonal fruits and vegetables so it’s fun to try new things I never would have originally ordered and the owner is amazing at helping you utilize everything in your bin when you ask! She has a way to cook or pair anything with what ever they offer .

Google
I have ordered produce from New Roots for a little over a year now and they are always prompt with the delivery service and the quality of the produce is always fresh. It makes my life so much easier to customize my produce bin and get fresh fruits and veggies delivered straight to my door. Love this place.

Google
Absolutely LOVE this place. I am so grateful for their CSR program and all the great work they do. It is a fantastic deal for the amount and the quality of fresh vegetables and fruits they deliver. A total win-win for me and I look forward to their delivery every week.

Google
This is the best CSA box ever! I so look forward to its delivery every week. You get a beautifully arranged box that is packed to the brim with delicious, colorful, and fresh produce. The recipes on their website are inspiring as well. I highly recommend this company!

Google
Overall the quality of the produce was excellent, but be certain about your payment method and agreement before ordering. I received a gift certificate for a certain amount of money. Unbeknownst to me, orders continued after the value had been reached, and I was billed. I stopped the service (I thought). I paid in full for the extra deliveries. Weeks later, I'm still being billed & waiting for someone to fix this mess.

Google
Love everything about this service and subscription box. The produce is top notch so is customer service and delivery! Thank you so much

Yelp
I had no idea that this business was by box subscription only, but I read the reviews about the quality of the produce so I went by to get some organic fruit and veggies for a friend. The woman, who ended up being the owner, was so nice and so accommodating! We filled up a box of beautiful produce and off I went! My friend adored the gesture and it was just what she wanted!

Yelp
There are definitely better CSA's out there - my produce came delivered in a large plastic container that they make difficult to return and will charge you for it if you don't (see others' posts). The produce found inside were laying on top of one another (other CSA's would at least wrap them in brown paper, etc) and there was no ice packs, etc. Even in Seattle, the produce inside got quite sweaty in the plastic container and went bad pretty quickly. Customer service (particularly Carolyn) could also be improved as well in terms of friendliness and proper billing.

Yelp
Best company. Best produce. Best service. I can't say enough good things about them. I even brag about New Roots to my friends that don't live in the Seattle area. Being able to sub items I can't (or don't) eat and being able to add my faves makes them amazing, and the quality steps it up to perfect. I have been subscribing for over a year and have only had one single bad item in all my boxes. And when it happens they immediately remediate it. I wish this were available to everyone, everywhere.

Yelp
I started my New Roots "subscription" back up a few months ago and Oh My God I am so glad I did! The customer service is still absolutely amazing.* The fruits and veggies are still tasty and interesting. The delivery to my doorstep is still super-fantastic. The new beautiful things? They now have fruit-only and veggie-only bins! And more importantly... YOU CAN NOW MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE SITE AND BUY EXTRA ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO! I believe you're limited to 5 substitutions per bin, but that's still awesome! Sometimes I haven't finished the apples yet or know I won't want a certain item the following week, and I love that I can edit my order right on the website (instead of having to email or call). I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. I LOVE IT! *Case of amazing customer service: The owner Carolyn recently called me because she noticed that I had selected the fruit bin, but kept substituting vegetables in. She wanted to suggest switching to the personal mixed bin because then I'd be able to still get fruit and a bunch of other items. I'm so happy I did that because with the fruit bin I kept going crazy and ordering like 10-15 bananas each time. Now I limit myself to 2-4 bananas and get a wider variety of veggies/fruit instead!

Yelp
I have been receiving produce deliveries from New Roots Organics since the beginning of the year and I have been impress with the quality every single time. It's so convenient since they deliver (in my case) every other Tuesday. I have received a variety of produce such as cauliflower, delicata squash, garnet yams, cameo apples, pears, avocados, bok choy and so much more. If there's something you don't like, you can always substitute those items. Also, you can add extra items such as garlic (which I highly recommend on ordering). Thanks to New Roots Organics, I have learn to try and appreciate produce I normally wouldn't have purchased on my own such as collard greens. Note: A personal bin is enough produce to last me for 2 weeks. I usually juice if I think I won't finish them before it goes bad.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
I have been getting deliveries from new roots for years now. I would agree with one reviewer that there has been some decline in quality of produce, but I think it's because the packers don't always closely inspect and weed out the occasional bad ones. It's likely they're just busier than they used to be and need to work out a better system to accommodate their growth to ensure consistency. I do wish they had a better system for garlic. That never seems to do well in the deliveries. The variety of produce is pretty great! The customer service is outstanding! They respond very quickly and bad or missing produce is replaced the next day if not the same. I haven't tried other services because they keep me happy.

Yelp
I am a little bit obsessed with my New Roots Organic bin. I talk about it all the time. Every Sunday, I eagerly check the website so I have an idea of what to expect for delivery day. Then I spend a LOT of time thinking about what's already in the refridg, what I'll be adding, and then I plan and re-plan what to make out of it all. Then on Monday (Capitol Hill's delivery day), I rush to get home before my roommate so I can be the one that gets to unpack the bin, arrange it on the counter, snap a picture, and then wash and package it all for easy use throughout the week. When I'm able to use 3+ ingredients in one meal, I squeal with joy, because I feel like I've solved a difficult math problem. For example, I realized yesterday that I had all the ingredients for ratatouille, thus knocking out the eggplant, zucchini, and tomatoes. This is an awesome service that I highly encourage anyone who is interested in incorporating more fruits and veggies into their diet to use. And for those who also want to be challenged to make seemingly disgusting foods that you typically avoid (for me, its eggplant, beets, and cabbage) into delicious edible meals.

Yelp
Pure awesome. I had forgotten that strawberries tasted like actual fruit instead of a tasteless fiberious mass. Hint: they taste like strawberries. Roasted veggies from this place are delicious and will refresh your memory about what food is supposed to taste like. You can get delivery weekly or bi-weekly, depending on how much you're around to eat fruit and veggies, and they have two sizes of basket to choose from. I emailed them a large list of things that I didn't want in my basket and they save it for reference. They deliver organic loot from the farm to your doorstep. Local, seasonal, sustainable, organic, delicious, relatively cheap for what you get.

Yelp
Sunday, sleepy and cozy in bed...Farmer's Market or Sleep In? I seriously love sleeping in...and delicious local organic fruits and veggies...and supporting local agriculture...and my puffy white cloud of a bed...LIFE IS SO CRUEL! Now I don't have to decide I can have it both ways! Sleep in on the weekend, and Farmer's Market to my door. Kinda the best thing EVER!...well, other than, you know....ahem, having to get out of bed. Just check out the photo I posted of a weekly cornucopia of awesomeness. I bet that will convince you. Incredible Produce. Good Price. Delivery. Great Service. Supporting my community. Sleeping In! Awesome!

Yelp
I've been a loyal customer of New Roots for years, and still get excited when their email pops up and I get to pick my fruit and veggies for the following week. More than just their great produce, they offer impeccable customer service. Over the years I've needed to make last minute changes, or unfortunately completely cancel orders, they were always great and flexible. Either by email or phone, you know you're speaking to a real human being and whatever issue I've created by complicating matters is easily solved on their end. This last weekend I needed to change my delivery spot three times (long story!), I really figured this was it and I was going to be told "enough is enough" (politely of course) - but no, they came through with amazing customer service and I got my delivery. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are a great company, offer a great service, and most importantly make me eat my fruit and veggies!

Yelp
I love New Roots Organics! We've been using the delivery box service for the past 4ish months and I have no regrets. 1) Great customer service. After our first box, we got a personal email asking how it went and if we had any questions. I was very impressed and know that if I have problems, I can easily contact them. 2) Great quality! The produce is fresh and delicious and ORGANIC! Wide assortment of options and fun to see options change throughout the season. 3) Easy Web Portal. The web portal is super easy to use and lets you sub out items that you don't want. I love knowing I can review my box and plan ahead for what is delivering. It makes planning meals simple and fun. 4) Reasonably Priced. I feel you get a good amount of food for your money. We selected the small box and get it bi-weekly for a household of two. This has been perfect for us. I really think I spend less on groceries because I get so much produce in my bi-weekly delivery. I would recommend anyone give it a try. It's fun and really has helped us to eat a healthier assortment of foods :)

Yelp
After experiences ranging from bipolar to consistently lackluster with other CSAs, I'm pretty overjoyed to have found a company that delivers a consistently ample, hardy and super-fresh batch of produce weekly to our doorstep. I am extremely impressed, three boxes in, with the quality, value and diversity. I get the bigger box ($49 weekly) and I've come to rely on its arrival, not having to make as many market trips when produce gets low. The amounts are great for us (we eat vegetables at every meal--I scramble them into eggs in the morning, and yes, I even make my kids eat salads for breakfast sometimes...I know, I'm a total dick!). Even in a tough growing year (droughts and deficits), I'm seeing good diversity of produce mixed in with the staples, and the easy online substitutions make it a breeze to avoid redundancies if you're slow to eat your beets ;) I just saw that they now have local duck eggs, which I proselytize about with some frequency, at a price that beats the lowest I've found (on Amazon Fresh). Brief cautionary tale: don't try making mayonnaise out of duck yolks. You're very welcome! Hollandaise, on the other hand, hells yes.

Yelp
It's like Christmas... Christmas in July! On Produce Day, I like to get up early and check outside to see if Produce Claus has brought me a nice, big package... Most of the time when I check, he hasn't quite made it to my house yet. What will he bring? When will it be here? Oh the excitement! The thrill!! But then, I hear something rustle... movement outside my door! Could it be?? ... It IS!! A box, bursting with freshness... I only wish it came with a big bow atop the lid.* *This series of events repeats every other week for, well... as long as I keep the service. And since I love Christmas and I love veggies, this promises to be a loooong, loooong time. PS- Everything in the two deliveries I've rec'd has been very fresh and of great quality. LOVE it.

Yelp
Living in Belltown and its proximity to Pike's Place has spoiled me. Fresh produce is available for me all day, everyday. This makes me a very happy Seattle transplant until I realize a trip to Pike's always leaves me $40 or more poorer. =( I finally placed an order at New Roots on Sunday afternoon and opted for the smaller $25 bin to try things out. 24 hours later, a fresh box of produce arrived on my doorstep at noon. Lettuce, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, onion, red cabbage, broccoli, peaches, pluots, cherries, cantaloupe, and apricots... All organic... for only 25 schmackaroos! Thank you New Roots, for making me a healthier and wealthier person.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
I am thrilled (thrilled!) to learn that I can celebrate my version of Christmas twice a month. There is no better surprise than to open up a blue Rubbermaid bin to discover the delights inside: purple carrots, leeks, greens of all sorts and shades, bright citrus fruit, sweet red strawberries, and round creamy Yukon Gold potatoes, nestled around and amongst each other....Clearly this is a common theme amongst the New Roots Organics customers! As the man will tell you, I am a nerd...a food nerd. Although New Roots posts online the contents of the upcoming shipment, I prefer to wait, discover, and take on the contents as a culinary challenge for the week (or two weeks). The standard bin, at $35 (weekly or every other week) is my new companion, offering a good amount of fruits and veggies for my kitchen palette (and my palate); there's also a personal size at $25, for the onesies out there, or folks whose diet might not be as herbivorous. Carolyn allows some modifications up to 7:00 a.m. the day before delivery too, so if you really have a desire for a particular option, you can switch out for it. Yet, since I currently have my full allotment of Yukon Golds, leeks, and asparagus (plus half of the strawberries and the lettuce) ready to go for dinner, I suspect my produce decadence might take hold and force me to move to an irresistible weekly delivery. I mean, fresh organic produce? At your door? Every week, just waiting to be consumed? Talk about a fantasy....
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
Love these guys. We chose them because you can customize your order each week if you need to. They were also the most reasonably priced for local and organic produce and offered different sized boxes to choose from. All the produce comes fresh and lasts a long time.

Yelp
Guess what I've learned in the year I've been getting New Roots? I like parsnips! Yup. Those weird white carroty things that I was sure tasted like shinola turned out to be beyond delicious. And I never would've known without New Roots cause I sure wasn't gonna buy those fugly looking things masquerading as food. There's a lot of other stuff I surprisingly love. Kale. Beets. Kiwiberries. Good lord, I love kiwi-berries. And I've learned to cook it all too, courtesy of the recipe/cooking suggestions that come on top. I still don't like zucchini very much, but that's cool because Carolyn always remembers and subs it out with something much tastier. And did you know how many different kinds of squash there are? I didn't. I'm newly addicted to spaghetti squash too. I've actually saved money with this service, because I plan my meals out around the goodies inside. And yes, every Sunday I hop eagerly online to see what to expect. The customer service is beyond wonderful - they once forgot my coffee and promptly brought it over the next day. And the one time they sent very ripe produce (peaches) they included a special note: Very ripe - eat today! And I did. And the peach cobbler I made was damn tasty. I'm getting hungry just typing this ... and I have some yummy fruit to go nibble on. Aren't ya a little bit jealous?

Yelp
The quality of produce from New Roots was excellent. Even so, I switched to a different company after 6 months because New Roots frequently made mistakes: they gave me vegetables that I had permanently excluded multiple times and, despite saying they would add things to my bin the following week to make up for it, never did; they forgot my building key multiple times; and they delivered a personal (small) bin instead of a standard (large) bin. I tried to be patient, but eventually they started acting like I was rude for expecting them to correct their mistakes. Recently, they charged my credit card even though I haven't ordered from them for over a year. I got the impression that one person is running the entire operation and is overwhelmed. I finally switched to Full Circle Farm, which also makes mistakes, but has a professional customer service staff to deal with them. In sum: The produce is excellent. The management and service are poor.

Yelp
I have been getting a box from New Roots delivered every-other-week for a few years now, and it is always the highest quality stuff available. You can just take whatever is on that week's list, or make specific substitutions. You can also set rules, for me I hate cauliflower, so any time cauliflower shows up on the regular list, something else is automatically substituted. A few friends with other veggie produce delivery companies have complained about their produce going bad quickly (or even arriving bad), but I have had the opposite experience. When I get the new box, I take the entire Rubbermaid bin and put it in the fridge with the lid on. Even things like lettuce have kept fresh for two or more weeks like this. Everything is always fresh and stays fresh for a reasonable amount of time. I only had one bad piece of produce in the hundreds that I've gotten (a plastic wrapped cauliflower had tiny aphids inside). If I had contacted New Roots about it they would have replaced it, but I had planned on throwing the cauliflower away anyway :). It was always hard for me to eat veggies, and rarely had them in the house. Having them delivered to my doorstep eliminated having to shop for them, I get interesting surprises that wouldn't have otherwise bought (like kiwi berries), and having veggies in the house improves the odds that I'll eat them. New Roots tries to be local, in season, and organic as much as possible, but things like bananas simply don't grow in the PNW, so they still make them available because people like them. You can also get extra things like honey, coffee, and garlic - and I am excited to try the eggs that they've recently added. I love New Roots, and only have nice things to say about them.

Yelp
We had been talking about getting a food service, but never got around to it. While I was flipping through the ValuPack on evening after work, I found the ad for New Roots Organics. We went online and looked at the list and prices and realized that the service was cheaper than what we pay when we go into the store to buy organic, and we would get veggies and fruits that typically we wouldn't consume (and we've discovered a lot of great recipes as a result). We're eating healthier and getting more variety all for less - it's wonderful. We've been subscribing for several months now, and we haven't been disappointed. We're getting a standard bin, every other week, which shows up promptly on our doorstep on Tuesday mornings. It's like to go through the bin before getting up in the morning and checking out recipes that were either provided, or online (foodtv.com has some prize winners). I highly recommend giving the team at New Roots a try, especially if you need motivation to eat better at a low cost. The people on the phone are very nice (Yes - a real person picks up the phone!) and you can make substitutions if some of the options don't sound so good and you're not feeling that adventurous.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I get a personal bin delivered ever other week for $25. We like to eat out a lot, so this is almost the perfect size to last us 2 weeks. We always run out of the fruit first, because we both love fruit, and it is so easy to eat as a snack (as opposed to arugula). I have loved getting the bin, because it brings me veggies I would not buy otherwise (like parsnips) and forces me to figure out how to cook 'em. This is also a negative since you get things you do not choose, you may end up with things you don't like, multiple weeks in a row. I do think the quality is better than the Safeway up the street, and I think we pay about what we would at a grocery store for the same amount, and it's delivered to our door! And it comes with a relevant recipe suggestion!

Yelp
This week was only my third delivery, and I am already a HUGE fan of New Roots Organics! I decided to get in on this whole "organic delivery" craze in an effort to make myself eat healthier, and it's sure working. I ordered the Standard Bin for $35, with delivery every 2 weeks and it's just about perfect for my boyfriend and I. I've only had to throw out (and by throw out - I mean COMPOST, of course!) a very small percentage of stuff that we haven't used before it went bad - so I think we're doing pretty good using it all up in time! There is so much stuff in these bins, and some of it I've never even tried before! For example, the first 2 weeks, I got a big bunch of chard - which is exceptionally easy to cook and really good for you. Just saute that stuff up with some garlic and olive oil, and you're good to go. Also pluots - what the heck is a pluot? It's a super tasty combo plum & apricot that I have come to LOVE. Our last bin included: 4 ears of corn, 1 bunch spinach, 1 bunch red leaf lettuce, a gigantic red onion, 2 cucumbers, 4 peaches, 2 plums, 4 pluots, 1 bunch Italian parsley, about 6 fingerling potatoes, 2 red tomatoes, 1 head of red cabbage - and I think something else I'm forgetting - oh, apples! 4 very delicious looking red apples. It's super easy to sign up online, and you can make a note for substitutions if you don't want something - then you just leave your empty bin out on delivery day and come home to a new full one. Bonus points for everything being grown locally, and for having a recipe included in each delivery (this week's cabbage/apple/spicy pecan salad looks yummy!). I highly recommend - there's nothing better than coming home to a big box of nutritious stuff at your front door.

Yelp
I did a lot of research before joining a CSA. I wanted one that would supply me with locally grown fruits and veggies, be reasonably priced, delivered to my doorstep, and force me to learn to cook with stuff I wasn't too comfortable with. I have to say New Roots Organics delivers almost all of that. I have been a subscriber for a couple months now and I find myself looking forward to every other wednesday when I get a rubbermaid tote full of goodies. Never before I have I cooked with cabbage, kale, chard, beets or rhubarb. My only complaint is at least during the winter a lot of the produce seems to come from California, I wish more could be locally grown. The customer service is excellent. I had one day when I didn't get my rhubarb (which I discovered AFTER starting the included recipe for rhubarb-strawberry crisp), I called and the next day not only did I have a voicemail appologizing for the error, but I came home to a bag of rhubarb and a new thing of strawberries. All the veggies and fruit are organic and are so fresh. They have all tasted just amazing. And best of all a recipe is included with every shipment. This week I made coleslaw for the first time in my life and I LOVED it! I also like being able to check the website on Monday to see what I'm going to get in my bin. I pay $35 every other week for my produce. There is a smaller option for $25 and you can choose how often you want it delivered. I think it's a great deal, there is no way in hell I would be able to purchase that much organic stuff for $35.

Yelp
I love love LOVE New Roots Organics, and even more so now that they have set-up their website so you can customize your delivery. Anything you're not a fan of (or end up leaving in the fridge or counter too long because you just don't know what to do with it ... even though there are recipes on the site, so actually no excuse) you can have them substitute with stuff you love. And it's not just veggies, also fruit. I like to know whether it's local or not, and they add that in the list. My family has definitely benefited from having this brought to our doorstep every time. These guys are GREAT.

Yelp
Every week juice box was too much so i changed it to bi-weekly. It is still a ton of fresh amazing fruits. I love the option to switch things out and get seasonal items. I've never gotten bad or old items and the customer service always gets back to me within 24 hours. Love this service!

Yelp
Year round, flexible, responsive, affordable, organic We pick our bin up at Georgetown's Carelton Grocery Store every other Thursday. We're still kind of spring/winter spread so the veggies have been the same for the past month. But the veggies stay fresh for a long time. Asparagus and pears received 8 days ago remain firm, edible, and looking fresh. Quality is good. Can't wait to see what summer brings!

Yelp
I have been using New Roots for a few years now. The produce is just for me, but I cook a lot, so the personal bin once a week works well for me. I think their pricing is very reasonable for organic produce delivered to my front door. For most items, their pricing is cheaper or comparable to PCC, but other items can be more expensive, like bananas, berries, and mushrooms. It pretty much evens out. Their pricing for their fabulous duck eggs is over $2 lower than PCC! I really appreciate that we can substitute up to 5 items, which is great when my fridge is already loaded with lettuce and carrots or I'm not in the mood for zucchini. I love it when they offer items that I've never tried before and/or can't find in stores, like kale raab and garlic scapes. I also love that I can buy additional items. I'm a big fan of their garlic and ginger that's sold by the 1/4 lb. They have delicious honey, too. Anytime I've had a problem with my order, I've received a prompt, friendly response, and either a credit or replacement item for my next delivery.

Yelp
I've had a weekly delivery from New Roots Organics for the past 6 years. The weekly fruit and veggie delivery has changed my life for the better. I cook way more than I ever had before because I always have a stellar selection of produce to work with. Plus, I tend to snack on my New Roots fruit instead of candy, which doesn't feel like a compromise. I have 4 pet rabbits, and they absolutly LOVE the leafy greens. The variety is great, the customer service is quick to respond, and the quality of produce is top notch. If I could give more stars, I would. Highest possible recommendation.

Yelp
My family gets the standard box every other week. It's the main produce we eat, and I know we eat more healthful, veggie-rich meals because of our New Roots delivery. The produce is always high quality and the customer service is excellent. I love being able to easily make substitutions online prior to delivery. I also enjoy figuring out how to use the things that come in the box that I probably wouldn't pick up at the store. Very happy to support and recommend this great local business.

Yelp
Pioneer Organics met an abrupt and bitter end. I was torn, confused. Do I just go back to buying conventional produce from Safeway, or do I branch out and try to find a new delivery service? So, ValPak coupons came in the mail and they're offering some deal on New Roots Organics... that's enough incentive for me... I'll give it a try. So, I've been a customer for about 4 or 5 months now. Overall I'm happy with it, but not as much variety as I would like. Yes, I believe in eating whatever's in season, but I've gotten nectarines and pluots in *every* order the last 4 times. I don't get a reminder email a couple days before my delivery, so I end up storing 3 or 4 of those big plastic bins in the basement at a time. At least they're not charging me for them (to my knowledge, but who knows, I don't look at my credit card statement very hard.) Their service is great though. When you call, you can actually talk to somebody on the phone! What a concept! I just hope they don't get too big and get bought out by Spud, because that place blows. The prices are fair and most of the produce is fresh and delicious. I don't expect everything to be super-perfect. After all, it's organic, it hasn't been irradiated and sprayed with chemicals. Here's to your health!

Yelp
Without these guys, I may have lived my whole life without knowing the joys of the Celery Root! I love this service the most for introducing me to new weird vegetables that I would otherwise never try. It has expanded my recipe repertoire ten fold and now I'm hooked and don't know if I will ever be able to live without it. I also enjoy that if you want to be lazy they pick things for you, but you also have the option to change it up online. One thing I have found helpful is to keep the paper they include that lists what is in the box because I have, on numerous occasions, found weird unidentified vegetables in the back of my fridge and had to roll the dice and hope it came out alright after cooking. Now then... if only I could consolidate and get them to deliver me cartons of cigarettes, my laundry, and maybe some new friends...

Yelp
My wife and I have been getting the New Roots Organics delivery for nearly a year now and love it. We're on the 2 week cycle so every 2nd Wednesday we get home from work and there is a new bin of organic fruits and veggies. The produce is fresh, 100% organic and local as much as possible. New Roots has made me a fan of pears again. Every time that we get pears they're a little on the hard side. So I let them ripen up for a couple of days and then chow down...Juicy and delicious every time! Haven't had a bad one yet. In fact, we have never received bad produce from them. There is some that we just don't use from time to time but for the most part we go through the entire bin. The stuff we just plain don't like we give to our neighbors and they love it. A word about tomatoes...when in season the tomatoes that New Roots delivers beat any other commercially available tomatoes. They're still not quite like growing your own (which my wife and I are going to try this year) but they actually taste like, get this, TOMATOES!!! If there are things that you just plain don't like, just call them up and have them hold off on those things. It's just that easy. For around $35 bucks a month, this is a deal that is hard to beat. It comes right to your doorstep, you don't have to deal with the hipsters roaming around Whole Foods (don't get me wrong, I love Whole Foods for what it is, I just don't like about half of it's patrons) and it gives you the opportunity to try stuff you might otherwise never purchase in the store. Give New Roots Organics a try...I think you'll be a fan too!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE New Roots Organics. Every Friday is like Christmas for me, I get a new bin filled with all sorts of inspiring new ingredients! Actually, I enjoy getting my bins so much that I started a blog about it! Full of meals that I create using the fruits and veggies that I get each week. www.cookingfromabin.blogspot.com If you are a fan of fresh, local fruits and vegetables then this is definitely the place to get them from! The produce is always high quality and I've not been disappointed with the selection yet! I've been a customer since January! I've also had the opportunity to cook with some vegetables that I never have used before, even a few I've never heard of! It really does give you something to look forward to each week. Thank you New Roots!!

Yelp
I have been using New Roots Organics for almost three years now and love it. The produce is almost always superlative quality, especially the fruit. I have never had cantaloupe from a grocery store that tasted anything like the the delicious stuff that comes in my bin. The website makes it easy to customize your bin so that you can get fruits and veggies you will be sure to eat.

Yelp
They got it right this time! Hurray!!! The driver did remember to use the cooler I left outside the door. I also received extra fruits to make up for the damaged produce in the past as promised by the owner. I am very happy! I'm so loving the organic squash...

Yelp
I have nothing but good things to say about New Roots. The fruit/veg quality, quantity and value is great. There is always 8-12 different types every week of the best produce of the week and usually a thing or two I've never tried (cabbage raab? rainbow chard? Delicious). I figure, at $25 a week for the personal bin, I would end up spending more at the grocery store for lesser fruit and I probably wouldn't have brought home such a variety. Plus is always nice to have the surprise waiting for you on your porch and the suggestion recipes they send haven't failed me yet. Oh, and the customer service is great too. Its quick and the owner is very nice.

Yelp
Once a week we get a crate FULL of fresh veggies and fruits. So many that by the time the day before our next order is to arrive, we feel the need to finish off the left over items because we would hate to compost any that went bad from not eating them. A wide variety, and the company try's hard to make it fun and different each time it is delivered. I have been pleased with the all aspects of the service, price, timing, and speedy fixing when a couple of veggies were not up to snuf. BUSY PARENTS! Are you trying to get more fruits and veggies into your life? THIS IS YOUR ANSWER!!!!!

Yelp
I am not delighted. For $70 bucks a month (two bins) I want to look forward to receiving my produce each month, but I don't. The bins have gotten lighter, and the produce is probably available at Fred Meyer for less than half the price. Yes, Fred Meyer. I have perused the organic produce there, and I see the same labels and packaging on many items that must come from a common supplier. Even at this time of year (summer) less than half of the produce in the bin is local - often much less. I am tired of getting kale and chard. They're nice people, very dependable, and quick to resolve issues or suspend delivery (vacation, etc.), but that is not enough. They used to include a clever recipe with each delivery that used some combination of items in the bin, but even that has stopped. I am calling tomorrow and canceling. FM is just a couple of miles away, and I do most of my grocery shopping there, anyway. There's also a local fruit stand even closer -they'll be getting more business from me as well. Bottom line: not a good value.

Yelp
I have used New Roots for several years, and have been very happy overall. This is how food is supposed to taste!! I appreciate how easy it is to use the website to make substitutions and I feel that the quality of the produce has been very good over the years. Once I received an icky item (some spinach that had decayed in the middle), and Caroline was very gracious and credited back my account. This has also been a great way for me to try new fruits and vegetables, and I know my diet has improved since using this service.

Yelp
I get the personal bin biweekly for $30 a delivery. If you cook ~4 times a week and eat out the rest of the time, it's the perfect amount for 2. Super fresh organic veggies and fruits that are WAY fresher than what I'm able to find at most grocery stores. I live in an apartment building and I leave the empty bin outside my apartment door and they swap it out with a new one - so easy!! I even have key access elevators and they still deliver right to my door (I gave instructions to my apartment lobby staff). The website is super easy to navigate and you can easily swap out items you don't like with a seasonal selection. Tired of carrots ? Swap out for some spinach instead. I've also emailed customer service before and they are so amazing!! I emailed that I would love to see some herbs that you could buy as extras, and some lady immediately replied that she would talk with the farmers to see if they had anything and they had selections for basil and rosemary the next week as order add-ons!! Amazing!! They have had herb selections ever since then. The order add on items are usually $1 to $3 (except coffee). I put the entire bin in my refrigerator (I cleared out a shelf - it's worth it) and it seems to keep everything fresh much longer than if I were to empty the veggies out and put them in the fridge. They actually last the full 2 weeks in the bin.

Yelp
Do it. You will save money, eat healthier, try new things (which we should all be doing), and its all sustainable. You get a basket of goods either weekly or every other week and enjoy. Once in a while I dont finish what I got and it goes bad but its not often. Overall, I highly recommend.

Yelp
I have been getting produce from New Roots for about a year. The produce itself is always good, they have excellent variety, even during winter months, I love the fact that they are local and try their best to source locally. They also allow you to substitute stuff and purchase additional items like honey, garlic and coffee. All of those things are great. They are not why I'm writing this review. I have contacted New Roots several times about various things. Their responses have always been extremely prompt, courteous and helpful. But today they took it to a whole new level. I am having friends over for dinner this evening and am going to make Lasagna with Red Chard, which I noticed a few days ago was missing from the box. I was irritated, made a mental note to email them, and sent my boyfriend out to pick up some spinach instead. This morning I finally got around to emailing them. They emailed me back within the hour (which I didn't noitce), what I did notice was the person, less than two hours later, on my porch with a bag of chard. Holy cow, best customer service. EVER. Basically there are plenty of people in Seattle you can have produce delivered from, but you should seriously consider New Roots because their produce is awesome and they will bend over backward to make you happy.

Yelp
We started similar deliveries with another company that wasn't based locally making it difficult to resolve issues, so we decided to try NRO. They have been wonderful at customer service; they communicate quickly and friendly. Their website is fairly intuitive and easy to use. After some tweaking, we've found a perfect routine. Their produce is ALWAYS fresh, and while some items are underripe, this is MUCH preferable to overripe or rotten. They include tops of many things like carrots and beets, which is a nice option. I hope to see them expand their "extras" menu. We've received some lovely eggs and honey, but it would be cool to see more herbs, dairy, and bread/grains. We love the idea that we're getting fresh organic produce AND supporting our local farmers. All delivered to our door very consistently.

Yelp
It's been a few months now, and I'm a big fan. Porch delivery has been flawless. The produce is beautiful and varied every 2 weeks. I love that it makes me stretch--I've learned to cook with some new types of veggies, and getting the farm box makes me incorporate a lot more veggies in our meals. I haven't tried substituting something yet, but it's really nice they offer that option! I also really appreciate that they include fruits for variety, even in the winter.

Yelp
Love this service and so glad we decided to give it a try! We get veggies we wouldn't otherwise buy at the store and we're all benefiting from eating more fruit & veg.

Yelp
This is such a treat. I've been using NRO seasonally for the last few years after a friend referred me and I love it. The veggies and fruits are always fresh and seem to last longer than produce I buy at the store. Great customer service-I've called in a couple times for general inquiries and each time I've received excellent customer service, always going above and beyond to assist. I've only had one hiccup in the time I've been using the service when a piece of fruit got smashed in the delivery process, but they promptly delivered a new one the next day. Highly recommend if you're looking for an easy and fairly inexpensive way to get fresh fruits and veggies.

Yelp
I have been a customer of New Roots for at least 7 years and continue to be impressed by the price and quality of everything that they have to offer. I not only get a personal bin that is plenty for myself and my husband weekly, but usually order eggs as well. The eggs are usually huge (about the size of jumbo eggs in the store). I have also ordered their honey, which is lovely. I usually get garlic and ginger from them as well. They are also super reliable. In 7 years I believe there was one omission, which they then delivered to us the following day. If I am going to be out of town, or just have too much food left for some reason it is super easy to skip a week or 2 or 3....

Yelp
I have had the New Roots personal bin delivery for a little over a month now and I'm really loving it. I admit to being a little hesitant to get a CSA service because 1) I live alone, 2) I don't have tons of extra cash and 3) I go out a lot. Still I love to cook and wanted to have more veggies in my diet so I did a lot of research on different delivery services. Most bins seemed huge to me so I opted for the personal size. Also, there is just no way I will burn through all that food in one week so I choose to get the delivery every other week. I'm not going to lie to you, some of my veggies still hit the yard waste instead of my plate, but overall I have used the majority of every bin. The only gripes I have are that sometimes I will receive my delivery and within days one of the items will have already gone bad. Also, some of the amounts are perfect for one person and then out of the blue I get a huge amount of something that takes me forever to eat. Though the service isn't perfect I have really enjoyed eating veggies and fruit that I usually never buy. When it is there in my house then I am forced to cook it up! This has led to my recent addictions to pluots and delicata squash. New Roots is definitely worth the money and I recommend it to anyone wanting to try out a CSA.

Yelp
I increased my order to the $35 standard bin this week. Definitely got more fruits than the personal bin. For 10 bucks more, I think the standard bin is very worth it.

Yelp
I was with New Roots for years, but had to switch to a different produce delivery service. New Roots was awesome when I first joined, but their quality and quantity of produce has declined over the years. Winter boxes are very sparse, but are delivered at the same cost. The produce delivered goes bad quickly. I wish they would come up with a better way of delivering, especially during warm weather, to ensure that produce stays fresh.
