I live much closer to Saigon Hut, which is pretty OK, but upon the advice of someone in my run club, we traversed from Eagle Hill to Orient Heights to try the further away Vietnamese place with the word Saigon in its name, New Saigon.
Ok wait this place is so good!!
The two are not related, it appears NS used to be located where SH is now, but it moved to a New place, hence the name.
Anyway! It's a pretty cute, unfussy, typical-looking restaurant. The service was great, attentive but not overbearing. The menu itself is, again, pretty standard -- I got a vermicelli bowl, I think my husband got a rice bowl, we split some spring rolls and dumplings.
But I really feel like somehow the sum is greater than its parts. Every ingredient/component of every thing we ate was just... delicious! Super fresh, perfectly seasoned, cooked exactly right... things you (or at least I) don't really notice when you're eating meat veggies and a starch mixed together in a bowl... but when it's done perfectly, it makes such the difference! Affordable, quick, friendly, delicious-- definitely worth the "trek" across Eastie to eat again!!
