The 35 Best Restaurants in São Paulo, Brazil | Eater

"São Paulo’s Koreatown in the Bom Retiro neighborhood is full of restaurants serving bibimbap, bulgogi, and kimchi-spiked dishes. But New Shin-La Kwan embodies a passion shared by Brazilians and Koreans: barbecue. This steakhouse veers toward a Korean-style barbecue restaurant, with charcoal grills set in the center of each table and servers on hand to supply raw chunks of pork belly or marinated beef ribs. Alongside come rice, salad, and banchan, including delicious kimchi made by chef Sae Kim’s mother, who produces over 300 pounds a week for the restaurant." - Rafael Tonon

Super delicious Korean food here in São Paulo. The meat was excellent (as expected being here in Brazil) but also the side dishes served with the meat were so incredibly good. I have never been to Korea but I am a huge fan of the cuisine! I have tried many famous Korean BBQ places in cities like Miami, New York, Dallas and this was by far the best I have had. A lot of the negative comments you see were about pricing but we dined for 2 people and a child and the food was plentiful and pricing in my opinion very fair for what you get.

The meat and the sides are awesome, service is pretty fast! We were in a group of 5 so we ordered 2 bbq (each serves 2 people) and an extra portion of rice, but in the end we fell like we could still eat more. It's kinda pricy but worth the visit!

Excellent Korean bbq. We had the bulgogi but all options are excellent. Not exactly cheap, but definitely worth it.

A great place for authentic Korean food in São Paulo. The food is delicious, the portions are generous and the staff is careful and considerate. They have vegan options :)

Solid kbbq with charcoal grill and vegan options 🌱 (We ordered the vegan bibimbap and sundubu-jjigae and they were both good). Nice variety of banchan as well. The meat quality is good, though I prefer galbi over picanha. Service was a bit inconsistent. One of the servers looked very annoyed, while another was friendly and helpful 🤣

Google
Food it’s ok . The bulgogi was great and the Kimchi Jingae was less than ok. The atmosphere is simple and the service is fast .

Yelp
Food is so so. Expensive. 6 pieces of Picanha for R$120. Bim bim bap R$34. Owner, the lady was disinterested and the man was simply rude (Korean owner) - Perhaps they think I am Korean as I have an oriental face. They probably think negatively of me thinking I am a Korean refusing to speak Korean with them. I will not return. If one is selling BBQ in Brazil, you have to be original as the local standard, which is Brazillian BBQ (churrascaria) is pretty high. I was with my friend, a compatriot that has been living in Brazil for 50 years, He was not impressed either. If you receive good treatment from the restaurant owner, good on you. As for me, I will not return.

Yelp
This is a Korean restaurant in Bom Retiro neighborhood with the authentic Korean style barbecue. Each table is equipped with a charcoal grill and an exhaust system that might prevent you to leave the restaurant smelling like gogigui. Gogigui (barbecue in Korean) in is he main item in the menu, with different options (beef, chicken, pork, duck) for sharing, but other dishes are also available. We were in a group of 4 and none of us were in mood of having the barbecue. Moreover, we had a member trying Korean food for the very first time and another one who wasn't much into spicy food. Taking everything into consideration, we ordered 2 bowls of bibimbap and kimchi jjigae (stew with kimchi, tofu and pork). While waiting for the dishes to come, we were offered banchan (side dishes) which was okay. A portable stove was placed on the table for preparing the kimchi jjigae and all dishes were brought at once. Flavor-wise, everything was very tasty, but spiciness was an issue for the ones that were not really familiar to Korean food. But fortunately bibimbap was served with gochujang separately, so we managed to make and edible bibimbap for everyone's standards. In the end we realized that 1 bowl could be enough for the 4 of us. One curious thing happened while we were having our meal: a family with a child seated in a high chair had ordered the barbecue. We heard a scream all of sudden. The girl had put the hands over the hot grill! So one important piece of advice: make sure you keep an eye on children if you come here with your family.

Yelp
Came here on the first day of the year, while 99% of São Paulo were closed, this one was open and she was Chi Fu, where I had lunch on the same day. Chi Fu was crowded, and so was this one. Got there around 9:30pm and right upon our entrance, the owner had told us that due to NYD everything was gone. Couldn't believe it, after driving for almost an hour... So I asked him if they had kalbi, rice, kimchee, and some banchan. He answered yes to all. So we decided to dine in and try it out. Surprisingly they brought out a basket with piping hot charcoal, turn on the exhaust, brought some kalbi and we were in business! So I asked if they could whip up a bibimbap dorsot and the answer was yes! Even though they didn't have lettuce and practically out of most banchans, it was still worth the experience and for them going the extra mile of making the bibimbap, it was awesome! Plus service is quite polite. And it was charcoal instead of gas like most places, it's aroma it's unbeatable! Can't wait to go back and try other things and more banchans. The only thing that holds me back is the distance between my house and this restaurant. But... I'll be back fo'sho'!
