"The Wells Branch restaurant serves up great Indian food for lunch and dinner, such as Goan shrimp, all sorts of tandoori proteins from paneer to chicken wings, biryanis, and rasmali (a cheese-based sweet). Takeout and delivery orders can be placed online; there are DoorDash and Grubhub deliveries; and there are indoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

We loved our experience here. Amazing customer service. They were friendly and made us feel at home. I ordered two mangolassi they were delicious. I also had their chicken tikka Masala, it was delicious. My friend ordered chicken biriyani and she loved it. Would come again 10/10.

First time here. Impressed with the menu. I would recommend adding pictures and a description of the each plates to assist newbies in determining what to choose or experiment what's on the menu. Consider a plastic binder of some sort. The music provides an atmospheric balance. The naan (garlic) was fresh and they didn't skimp on them. I was given 4 and they were delicious. Another suggestion is to expand on the drinks menu to include expanding non-alcoholic beverages. Maybe I missed it when given the drinks menu. I don't know why I was directed to sit all the way in the back corner of the restaurant, but from a strategic perspective, it wasn't a bad seating given my law enforcement background. I paid the extra $10.00 to try the coconut rice. It was delicious! It would had been "rice nice" if this was an option in the beginning. More napkins (thicker and more high-quality absorbent) would be my preference, too. Overall, very impressive.

The buffet here offers a delightful variety of flavorful dishes, from rich curries and freshly baked naan to savory snacks like samosas. The vegetarian options are outstanding, and the desserts, like gulab jamun and kheer, provide the perfect sweet touch. While some dishes could be warmer, the vibrant flavors and welcoming ambiance make it a satisfying experience for any food lover. The live panipuri n chat are really good

First time trying Indian food. The sweeeetest waiter assisted us and stayed with us and explained every dish and what it consists of. Honestly less then 4 minutes, the dishes were out and so amazing. The flavors were to die for. You can taste all the spices in a way it's not too much. I will be a forever customer. Honestly recomend this spot for everyone to come and enjoy the great food, lovely faces and amazing service. Thank you!🫶

I recently had an incredible experience at Sitara Real Hyderabad Dum Biryani & Curries! The food was exceptional each dish was packed with flavor, made from fresh ingredients, and expertly prepared. What truly elevated the visit was the outstanding service. The staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Their impressive selection of Indian beers, paired with delicious non veg appetizers, was the perfect complement to the meal, making the overall dining experience unforgettable.

Google
I like trying something new as usual😋. I highly recommend you get the garlic nan and Apollo fish, it was the best. Service wise, they are very respectful and welcoming.

Google
Highly recommend the buffet, the reasons are: More than 30 items in it More than 5 deserts Ismail mutton dam biryani is one of the authentic biryanis i had in Austin And they have live dosa counter n chat….

Google
After much wait, today i visited and their buffet was fantastic! Most items were reasonably good, but a few stood out as exceptional, especially the soups, tawa fish fry, chicken fry, and dum biryani. The variety of desserts was impressive too, adding a sweet touch to the meal. There was a minor issue: there was no hand soap in the bathroom, but it was promptly notified and corrected. Plus, my tummy was double satisfied! Overall, I highly recommend giving New Sitara a try. It's definitely worth it!

Yelp
This is hands down the best Indian spot in Austin. My friends and I came a while back for a sit down dining experience and were disappointed to realize it was a buffet. The hostess/ manager? Convinced us to give it a try and I have to leave a thank you here for her because now I cannot get enough. We come to New Sitara pretty regularly on Saturdays now for their lunch buffet, where they have fresh samosa chaat and dosa made in the dining area by a live chef. All of the Biriyani is made fresh for the Saturday buffet and they have plenty! You can pick any item on the buffet line that looks good to you and it will not disappoint. And don't forget to finish your meal off with a hot masala chai The vibes are also great. GREAT friendly staff, great ambiance. Music is pleasant and not too loud, and even when there is a wait, it goes pretty quickly. I love this place and will never shut up about it. Do yourself a favor and eat here!!

Yelp
Criminally underrated. Best Indian north of the river (yes, much better than Clay Pit). I love their Tikka Masala and Dal Makhni. They recently renovated, and the space is much brighter and family friendly. Servers are nice and attentive. And last (but not least), very reasonably priced.

Bri K.

Yelp
Excellent Indian Food. First time here after having this place recommended to me by a friend. Great menu, lots of really interesting options that I'm looking forward to trying next time. The service was great, the waitress was really sweet and knowledgeable. We had the Saag Paneer and Mughlai Curry, butter garlic naan, masala chai, and mango lassi. All hits. The naan was so fresh and pillowy.

Javier S.

Yelp
Missed out on the lunch buffet, but what an amazing experience even getting to order one of each delicious plates that this menu has to offer. By far, this is the best of the best southern Indian cuisine that I've ever eaten before. Lots of taste with each bite, and almost no wait whatsoever. Amazingly well served portions, quick and very gentle touch by the servers as well. New decor, and amazing music to accompany the greatest Indian restaurant in Austin Tx

Yelp
I was between eating at New Sitara & another restaurant but what sold me was reviews saying that the PORTION SIZE was great here. This is a place you want to go with a group & do family style. I ate here solo & had so much leftovers. There were too many things I wanted to try & over-ordered. They had to bring in more tables to accommodate the guests dining in. The server did say that they are currently under renovations to RESTART the BUFFET in a few weeks. - SAMOSA CHAT: when this came out I was confused cause I didn't see the samosa but they cut samosa into pieces. It is a better method so it's easier to share & there was crunchiness throughout. Loaded with chickpeas & onions, this was a flavor explosion. - CHICKEN MAJESTIC: I saw too many reviews raving about this appetizer that I had to try it. Breaded chicken covered in a creamy tomatoey sauce. I can see how this is popular. Super savory & easily palatable - ROGN JOSH CHICKEN: Not one of their house specialties but my server recommended it as her favorite so I gave it a try. Well season, thick curry paired so well with rice & an order of CHILI NAAN. The naan came with 4 pieces & it was so fluffy. They provided BOTTLE WATER at no charge. I would love to come here again to try more things & also their buffet when it comes back.

Savannah G.

Yelp
Even when there is a small wait at the door, it is WORTH IT! We love coming here & trying all the new food every week. They have a live dosa station where they make it fresh in front of you, huge vats of fresh made biryani, from veg to chicken to mutton. They have a big samosa station where they make samosa chat & we crave it!! I love the diversity of the north and South Indian food. I just finished eating here & I'm already ready to come back!

Mounika K.

Yelp
Tasty Indian spicy food. Great service. They renovated and the ambiance is even better. Reasonable prices too.

Brian T.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend! This place is both affordable and absolutely delicious. The staff is so friendly too and the restaurant has a a pleasant atmosphere. Recommend the garlic naan (at least two orders because one is definitely not enough!), chicken tikka masala, chicken majestic, and goat andhra masala!

Malhy M.

Yelp
Honestly what an experience! Came here on a girls night and the food and ambiance were amazing. As you can see in the pics, we DEVOURED everything. Honestly I don't know what was better if the food or the service. The service was top tier, they were always attentive and we never had to wait long for our meals. They also gave us some sweets to try since we were curious about that item. Can't wait to come again to try their weekend buffet!

Michelle E.

Yelp
New Sitara has delicious authentic Indian dishes with reasonable prices and extremely large portion sizes! SERVICE - Every worker I interacted with was very pleasant! We got seated right away, our order was taken efficiently, and our food arrived quickly. PRICING - The total was $59.46 after tax and before tip for chicken tikka tandoori ($15.99), malbar chicken curry ($14.99), boneless chicken biryani ($13.99), two orders of garlic naan ($2.99 each), and keema naan ($3.99). This was an INSANE amount of food for the cost so I'd say the pricing is very reasonable considering the large portion size. CHICKEN TIKKA TANDOORI (8.5/10) - Fantastic! It comes out still sizzling and you get a great amount of chicken for the price. The flavor was great and the chicken was tender... there was one piece that was chewy and had a weird texture and I wish there were some more veggies served with it but I'd order this again! MALBAR CHICKEN CURRY (8.5/10) - The flavor of this got better with every bite! It wasn't as sweet as you'd expect with a coconut sauce, but the spice level is perfect and it's extremely flavorful. I'd order this again! BONELESS CHICKEN BIRYANI (8/10) - This wasn't the most flavorful or life changing biryani I've ever had BUT it gets graded on a curve because the portion size is MASSIVE! The chicken was tender and had a great spice level. I'd order this again! GARLIC NAAN (9/10) - One bite and it's obvious why this is one of their most popular items! The garlic flavor is DELICIOUS! It was a little thinner and more crispy than some other naan I've had which was the only thing keeping it from being a perfect 10/10. I'd order this again! KEEMA NAAN (7/10) - The flavor of the keema was great but it was very greasy... I'm happy I tried it but I probably wouldn't order it again. I'd definitely come back to New Sitara and would recommend it to others... especially if you want a local, casual place for some great Indian cuisine! If you order a lot, plan to have leftovers because the portions are massive and you get your money's worth!

Yelp
We had a great dinner here! Love the Sag Paneer & Tikla Masala with Naan. Definitely would like to come back for the lunch buffet on the weekend. Great service too. Fast!

Nina W.

Yelp
With delicious flavors, nice portions, super friendly service, this place is a true hidden gem! It's quaint inside and a great place to meet up with friends for an amazing meal. Everything I had was phenomenal and flavor-packed.

Vivian F.

Yelp
Decent food in a spacious restaurant. I wish the plaza itself was busier. We were there for Friday dinner and most of the orders were takeout. The music was way too loud in an almost empty restaurant. The garlic naan was on the thin side / thinner than I am used to. Butter chicken is not the most authentic but always delicious. Lamb biryani was a hit. Overall would recommend. Service was pleasant!

Blair V.

Yelp
I was not a fan of their boneless biryani dish. It looked a started like it was breaded and deep fried and then tossed with basmati rice. Definitely not what I am used to compared to what I get from other Indian restaurants. The portions was heavily on the rice side. I would say you get 1/8 meat and 7/8 rice. Their vegetable samosa though was really good and the chutney sauce was typical.

Neha G.

Yelp
Hakka noodles never disappoint. Tried methi matar paneer and turned out to be amazing. Cremmy gravy with methi.

Lori D.

Yelp
We have a new favorite Indian restaurant! We stopped in tonight for the first time. My husband had the chicken biryani. It was HUGE and beyond tasty. My kids split a medium spiced chicken Tikka Masala. I tasted it, and it was delicious. My chicken Andhra Masala was spicy and flavorful. The garlic Naan was the best we've ever had. I would skip the chili Naan next time. It was just too spicy. I love spicy, so when something is too spicy, it's super spicy. We tried their sweets from their dessert menu. I don't recall the specific name, but the doughnut one was delicous. Their mango lassi was fresh and tasty as well. All of the portions were very large, and all of their pricing was very reasonable. 13.99 per plate. They were less expensive and offered larger portions than our usual Indian food spot. Their staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was fun, and everything felt super clean. Except the bathrooms. Not unclean, just not as spotless as the rest of the place. Will we be back? Absolutely. The Tandoori looked fabulous, so that will definitely be one of our selections next time.

Rishi P.

Yelp
My grandmother wanted dosa and wanted to try a new place. I knew it was good with large catering and to go orders waiting. We got a dosa and my grandma wanted it crispy, they don't make it for the masala dosa but they made a special one for her with items on the side. That's great service as she really wanted to try that. I had chicken and paneer tikka and garlic and onion naan. Onion was thicker than I'd like but still good. Chicken was very tender too. Ambiance was okay but I go for the food and we'll be back with a bigger crowd

Angus W.

Yelp
Fantastic food, extremely fragrant and wonderful rice, chicken curry, and mango drink. The mango drink was absolutely delicious, creamy, refreshing, and not too sweet. The chicken was tender and the curry was so flavorful and delicious. Also, the best service I have ever experienced. The inside of the restaurant is modern and clean, yet has traditional accents. My favorite part is that the garlic naan, rice, and curry was not heavy, or oily, it tasted healthy and perfect! I will absolutely be back

Tanmay T.

Yelp
Hats off to the number of items made available for the grand buffet on December 3rd 2023 as their 5th anniversary celebration. Everything mentioned in the advertisement was provided including the live counters. There were around 70 items in total. Chiku shake, Biryani, Paani puri, Samosa chaat, Gulabjaamun, Medu wada, Curd rice and okra fry were the tastiest in my opinion. Considering so much crowd, they managed to keep supply of plates and all the items very well. Not a single tray waiting too be filled or refilled. The tables/ plates were getting cleaned on time. Now the no so good part. I had a reservation at 12. I was there at 11:45 and finally got the table at 12:45 after checking with them at least 7 times. I understand that there was too much of a crowd, but I did not feel they were honoring the accepted reservation. Also, it felt like the priority was given to the people who speak a particular south Indian language. During the waiting time, we saw they they were accepting walk-ins even after they had 3 A4 size pages full with names. Everyone was given a blanket answer that the wait time is around 45 minutes to an hour. Due to all this chaos, we saw 3 major arguments in the crowd and the restaurant management. I also did not understand why were they accepting catering and delivery orders, in between this much of a chaos. So to wrap up the review, food was great but the management was bad. I would have loved it if they would have continued serving buffet. Note: This was a one time event and they are not planning on serving a buffet.

Elissa G.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing ! The food is very high quality and flavorful. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. Overall 10/10 one of my favorite Indian food spots.

Jessica N.

Yelp
This place had so many options and everything was amazing. I came with a friend of mine and we ordered so many dishes. I don't know where to begin.

Emma v.

Yelp
absolutely fabulous! best indian food i've had from austin/pflugerville area!! our server was super sweet and attentive! definitely making another visits!

Laura S.

Yelp
We went here for the first time tonight for dinner. It was a relaxing atmosphere with friendly service. I had the Murug Tandoori Full Grill and the chicken was perfectly cooked with just the right spice! So delicious! The boyfriend had Sitara Dum Mutton Biryani and he loved it! We shared our meals and there was quite a bit left over for tomorrow! They serve them as they are ready, so they tandoori came out first. We were excited when the biryani came out & didn't get the picture until we had already dug in - LOL. We will be back!

Lizz W.

Yelp
As I write, my full taut stomach looms in front of me as though I need any help reminding myself of the amazing meal I just had. Excellent service, amazing authentic food. Had the paneer kurchan which comes with rice, the garlic naan, chicken biryani that came with raita and dhalcha, and the masala dosa. WOW! All of it was delicious and the chicken in the biryani was so incredibly tender and full of flavor, the raita was creamy and cooling. The paneer in the paneer kurchan was cooked perfectly, nice and firm which contrasted with the tart soft tomato and crunch of green peppers. My friend and I were treated very nicely. Most of the other folks in the restaurant were Indian families which is always a good sign. I'll definitely be coming back.

Lyla A.

Yelp
We ordered through DoorDash and were given a 6:15 pick up. My husband did not get the food until 6:50. I might dock half a star for this, but there's more. Prior to ordering, I called and asked if the lamb seekh kabob could be made mild. The person I spoke with said it is always mild, so there was nothing to modify. I reconfirmed, because it was for a young child. When the dish arrived, not only was it very spicy, but also dry. I've eaten this type of kabob, my whole life and it's usually juicy like a good burger. The lamb chops masala had a bitter flavor. I think the chops themselves were charred. The gravy had a strong black pepper flavor. This was spicy as well, but we expected that. The lamb mulligatawny soup was tasty in flavor but...it was the consistency of water. Like a thin broth. It was supposed to be lamb mulligatawny soup and there were 2 bones in the thin broth. Flavor was fine but not something I recommend. This was not spicy. Nellore fish curry - had a unique and very heavy curry leaf + citrus flavor. I enjoyed he flavor of the sauce. I'm pretty sure the fish was tilapia because it had a strong flavor. This dish came with rice. It was on the spicier side. Dum mutton biryani - this was your average Biryani. No complains, but nothing special. The spice level was medium-spicy. Only the fish and the mutton came with rice. Chili chicken - this was the best dish of the night and we didn't even order it. They didn't have the haleem that we ordered and substituted this. If I had to describe it, it would be a spicy Indian version of Panda Express breaded chicken. The garlic naan was good. It had a nice chew to it. It was more thin and chewy than fluffy.

Yuna K.

Yelp
Unfortunately i think there are better indian cuisines out there in Austin. It is definitely more authentic but the amount of spices they used in every dish we ordered was a bit overwhelming to me. The dosa here is crispy but the three sauces that came with it were a miss to me. We also got the lamb curry which was again super heavy with spices than what I am normally used to in Indian curry that i think took away from the dish. The garlic naan was definitely the highlight as it was crispy and fluffy. The dessert however was way too sweet here and the gulab jamun i've tried at other places you are definitely able to taste more of the rose water in comparison. Overall, the service was really good and the servers were nice but the food here is just ok.

John D.

Yelp
This place continues to be one of the best places for authentic Southern Indian food!! Worth checking it out Chicken majestic is crazy good Some of the best Indian cuisine I have had in years outside of India. Tandoor chicken and lamb chops were very tasty. The lamb curry was insanely good and the lamb tender. Butter naan is a winner :) It won't disappoint Portions were large for the price. Worth the wait and the money (30 deliveries and pickups in a very short time) - place is popular. Highly recommend and will most certainly be coming back

P B.

Yelp
It was very good. They just remodeled the inside and the furniture is more comfortable. Clean restrooms. Great service. They have lunch buffets on Saturday's and Sunday's for $24.99 per person. We'll be back for the buffet.

Aj F.

Yelp
The food here is lacking a lot. I'm unsure who's the blame but I used Uber eats too pick up dinner the other night. An had 3 different drivers show up the first two ended up leaving because the order was not ready. Mind you it was just a single order meal. I myself called and could not get through I even asked the second driver to ask the front desk to make sure the order was received and was ready. When that driver asked they were told it would still be 10 more mins which was a Lie as it turned into 15. After the third driver shows up the order was still not ready. It took forever to get help with this order. Never again will I go or order from this place The food showed up extremely cold. I was surprised at how they must not care about on line orders.

Sana A.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with this place! It feels like a struggle finding delicious Indian food in Austin so I'm glad this place was a hit. We got the chicken biryani and reshmi kebab both of which were full of flavor. The kebab was especially soft and juicy while the biryani had some oomphf to it. Only complaint would be that the salaan and raita were so so watery.

Tara K.

Yelp
We eat Indian food often and this is by far the Best food we have had yet! Their Chicken majestic is amazing and the garlic Naan is top notch! The Chicken Tikka Masala was very flavorful! The service is wonderful, the staff is very attentive and their recommendations were all amazing! We will definitely be back!

Marcus W.

Yelp
Amazing food and even better atmosphere! There is no better place in Austin to have a meal at!

Michael W.

Yelp
Place was great! We were hit with the smell of incense as soon as we walked in, and the restaurant was well decorated, cheery, and homey. As we sat down, we noticed there was a lunch special so we ordered the biriyani special, and my gosh the amount of food was great. I've never had dosas before but I can safely say the crispy exterior with the soft interior was a win. The potatoes inside were flavorful and soft which was a nice contrast to the dosa. When our biriyani specials came out, we were hit with a nice sample of everything. To be honest, I wouldn't be able to recognize everything that was placed in front of us but all of it was decently seasoned, flavorful, and plentiful. Garlic naan was fresh and soft and our egg bajji was nice and crispy. The service was great to with the waitress coming back not overly much to check on us. Even gave us free dessert at the end which was a super nice touch. Overall, would definitely recommend New Sitara!

Britney B.

Yelp
I heard about this place from a friend. She said it was the best Indian food she'd ever had. I, being inexperienced decided to try it tonight with my daughters. I have NO COMPLAINTS! We were greeted and sat right away. The restaurant was clean and moderately busy. We were immediately given menus and waters. I mentioned to our waitress that this was our first time trying Indian food and that I had no idea what to order. She smiled and immediately suggested to me her favorite things and what we absolutely needed to try. I was delighted! The chicken Majestic- 10/10 Vegetable Samosa-7/10 The butter chicken- 10/10 Dry chicken lollipop- 8/10 Malbar chicken- 9/10 Garlic naan- 10/10, my favorite Our waitress was amazing. I just hated she was a little overwhelmed by how busy they got after we got our food. She did well handling everything and getting us what we needed. I loved everything about our first time here. We had plenty of left overs and took the rest home. This place is amazing!!! Great service, great food.

Miss V.

Yelp
Went here after craving some Indian food and we loved it. Gobi Manchurian, sag paneer and chicken biryani were fantastic. The naan was crispy and delicious. We sampled two desserts as well and although I can't remember the names, they were also delicious. We will be going back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone craving some good Indian food.

Luis M.

Yelp
Amazing service, and great food. Sorry no photo but I highly recommend this for some good authentic Indian food. I will definitely be back!

Pablo K.

Yelp
When you walk in, this restaurant has great service and very very friendly and attentive staff. The curry's are very tasty. Mutter Paneer is always my favorite. Some of the food is very spicy so I recommend asking for the least spicy dishes if you don't tolerate heat. We ordered mild heat and it was spicier than expected.

JRam C.

Yelp
Sometimes food tastes good, sometimes it's just mediocre, room for improvement and consistency

Dack G.

Yelp
First time trying Indian food was a amazing experience. Owner was friendly and welcoming. The music and atmosphere made me want to stay longer and just take my time enjoying the good vibes. Chicken lollipop was incredible definitely will be coming back for more.

Devanshi B.

Yelp
Second review of New Sitara. We were impressed by their food so definitely wanted to try other food options here. **vegetarian food review** Veg Szchewan noodles - perfectly cooked, veggies were enough, and taste was wonderful!!! Only thing - it's gonna be very hot coz of the chilli flakes in it, so please ask for medium spicy if you cannot have very spicy food. But, if you like spicy, then you will enjoy this dish! Malai kofta- yummy!!! We loved it, the gravy and the kofta were both very delicious! Highly recommend this sabji if you're going here for the first time! Punugulu- we have ordered this before and I think it's a perfect appetizer, it tasted the besttt!!! Love it! What I reviewed last time- Punugulu Mysore masala dosa Biryani

Surbhi C.

Yelp
Went for lunch there few days ago. The food was good. Spice level was on the lower side. Which is what I prefer. Food came out pretty fast and service was good. Staff was courteous. Decor was okey they were already doing hearts everywhere while it was still December. What I did not like is they start cleaning up the table while some of us were still eating. What's wrong with that ? They weren't doing it discreetly. While I was eating a long hand came over my plate to grab the plate of person on my side. Lol none the less that's not gonna stop me from going back. I Recommend this restaurant for the food.

Ashby F.

Yelp
Terrible service, took over 30 min to get our lunch order. Not even busy. What the heck?? The food, once we finally got it almost 40 minutes later, was good. Maybe call in our order next time.

Keerthi C.

Yelp
This has been our go-to Indian place after moving to the Austin/Domain area. The food is delicious and the service is always good. The menu is huge and covers all the popular dishes from both North and South Indian cuisines. Biryanis - Their biryanis are decent. Family packs come with an appetizer and a dessert offering great value. Tandoori Stuff - We really like their Tandoori platter which has 4-5 types of Tandoor grilled meats. Veg/Non-Veg Curries - Decent. South Indian Specials - Vadas and Dosas are prepared to order and are tasty. Chutneys can be better though. Austin needs more Indian restaurants like this. Until then, this will be our regular.

Sebastian M.

Yelp
My first time coming here this past weekend the food was amazing and the service was outstanding while being affordable! I will definitely be coming back here again.

Lavanya K.

Yelp
Good food and excellent service! Love the biryani and the Madurai chicken fry. The service is also very good, prompt in order and delivery.

Mandar K.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We ordered Butter Chicken and it was perfectly mild but flavorful for my wife and my Biriyani had perfectly fluffy rice. We also enjoyed the chicken lollipop. Waitress was very attentive and kind, she gave us very good service.

Leo D.

Yelp
Very disappointed on my last visit. The majority of the food is still great. But I can't eat at a restaurant with bad hygiene. Bathroom was dirty. The floor was dirty. They were fixing a table right in the middle of the dining room during dinner service. They were playing a Bollywood movie at full volume such that you can hardly talk. There are Valentine's Day decorations hanging from the ceiling that have been there for a year. And to add insult to injury the service is rude and our rice was served cold. Sorry, I will be sad to leave the good food, but I'm grossed out. Please get your management up to par. Not going back.

Stan S.

Yelp
Rude people but food was fire!!!!! I wish the service was as good as the food plus they charged me too much for something i didnt want but didnt want the headache of trying to get the situation corrected but the food was GREAT
