This place is incredible - huge selection of Eastern European foods. Other selection of foods also just mainly Russian, etc. Ready to eat selection also - tried the fish dip - excellent! Pastries are amazing also. Loaded up on pickled items and caviar. Fun and great store

Bought these items yesterday, July 13th. Didn’t check the expiry dates upon purchasing. Didn’t realize selling expired products was even a thing in the US. Just speechless!

Great grocery, and wonderful bakery/deli. On weeknights they will often close early if they sell out of fresh goods. Their borscht sold by the pound is so good.

Just had a scrumptious lunch thanks to New World Market! We had lamb shashlik, mashed potatoes, buckwheat, and cabbage salad. All so fresh and affordable! It doesn’t end there- they have a wide variety of authentic delicacies from all over (Russia, Ukraine and other East European countries). They’re baklava collection is spectacular and so is their kefir! Check them out now!

Nearly everything behind the deli is wonderful, especially the cured salmon! This place is truly a treasure, and with the rotating assortment of products from a wide variety of cultures and cuisines along Russian borders, it's kind of a culinary celebration of settings the post soviet color Revolutions, and a lot of these places have some intensely wonderful food unique to Russia's southern neighbors. On the other hand, Staples like good rye bread and first class ham are worth the stop alone. If you speak a little Russian as a learner, the people here are more than kind and go out of their way to be extra nice to you 🙂.

Nice store. Too bad they don’t speak English and the young lady that does speak well at the cash register is extremely rude. Too bad. They got a lotta food on the counter at room temperature that probably goes bad. They could sell more if they were nice to customers that don’t speak their language

I was wanting to stop at the Polish market but they're closed on Mondays so I came here and...WOOOOOW, the food was so amazing! I got some soup and beans for the store part, then headed to the counter. The woman spoke enough English to help get me some food. I wanted a stuffed cabbage and meat peroshki. But also, I wanted poppy cake...they were out so the lady recommended a few things on the counter. Sorry I didn't take a picture but the item was an orange triangle thing that was maybe a distant version of a Neapolitan. It was soft and I'm not sure...maybe pumpkin creme inside and coated in almond slivers. I'm eating this unbelievably fresh and delicious thing...suddenly a little rich cherry filling peaks out. WHAT?! Crazy good! Then the last few bites are the Regina;r pumpkin crème and you just sit there in wonder of the amazingness! So, I had wanted the cabbage rolls with meat in tomato sauce and also a meat piroshki. I could have eaten a dozen of either of these...not in one sitting, but yah...these were incredible. I ate the cabbage roll in the car, cold...it was so good. I took only a bit of the piroshki and it took everything to put it in the cooler for later...it was that good. I also had the sweet piroshki with farmers cheese and the rugalah roll. More crazy delicious food! Thank goodness I am going back later this week. I will bring my cooler again and this time, and buy as much of the savory items as I can fit in there so I can freeze some! Can't wait for Friday! I will take a look at some other pics to see if there's anything else I could try, and I still will also give to try the Polish market a try. Some of these things just remind me of childhood.

I dislike giving bad reviews to small food stores on the basis of one, small experience -- especially one whose selection looks as interesting as this one. But I bought a single item at the store; a few days I discovered that the best buy date was just four days after I had bought it. With a lot of products I wouldn't care; but with a dairy item that it would take at least a couple of weeks for many buyers like me to finish, and where taste quality can soon deteriorate, that's too little. I do know it's hard for small food stores to keep inventory constantly fresh, and there's no guarantee that a supermarket won't have near-expired items as well (unless it's a close-out store with heavily discounted items like Grocery Outlet where you know you must check the dates). At any rate, if you do shop there, I would be sure to check the dates.

Food is good. Also amazing vegan options. I love how the avocado is always fresh too which is hard to find with cook foods.

While planning my trip to San Francisco from NyC, I was so excited to visit new world market . I had my hopes a bit high.. staff wasn't very friendly and not helpful ..

I have been coming to this store, on and off, for many many years AND over the last few years I have been giving myself a promise not to come back again... I believe in giving everyone a second chance but this place has been given many chances..,Customers BEWARE - poor quality of food, heartache guaranteed for at least a day, rude associates, spoiled food in the containers, mold on a number of their cheeses and salami plus outrageous prices, higher than any other Russian deli places... health department should be called on them

Super friendly personnel and really fun place to find new and interesting ethnic food. Small and cramped, but my son and I thought it was super fun to walk around and see what was there.

I 've been coming here almost every week for at least the past 15 years. This is one of several retailers of food from Eastern Europe. I'll write about them as well but this is one of my favorites, so here we go. There are all kinds of items here you may not be familiar with, as well as fresh made food in their deli. You can make a very fine meal of these take home items with no trouble. But the main attraction is the wide variety of cheese, preserved meat, smoked or brined fish, beer/wine/spirits, chocolates and too many fresh desserts. If you don't know what something might be, what's to lose if you buy it and it turns out not to your taste. Then again, it's more likely something you'd hate to miss if you knew what's inside that package. My favorite are the fresh baked German breads, especially Vollkornbrot. The name of this last item, formally translated into English, means "whole kernel bread". Given Americans' orientation you'd assume this simply means whole wheat bread. But in Germany, Vollkornbrot is a different kind of thing, made with a considerable proportion of coarsely cracked rye kernels in the dough. There is of course some ground rye flour but it's simply included to work up enough gluten to hold things together. The result is a very dense loaf, a slice of which can be a meal in itself. The dough supplier ships ready-to-bake loaves frozen from Germany, to be distributed to retailers like New World Market. The true Vollkornbrot is that triangular loaf, but unfortunately it's often sold out. Call in the morning and request whatever you'd like them to bake, then pick up it later that day. If one is out of stock, there's at least a dozen other types of really excellent bread baked on site. You'd have to go a long way to get anything similar, unless you bake it yourself which is something of a production. I must admit I've been disappointed in the past 6 months or so, as a new owner has made some changes that resulted in less variety. There also seems to be an increase in sweet items on the shelves, and less basic foodstuffs. As for the staff, a few of my favorites are no longer there and there and some newcomers don't speak Russian. This makes communication easier, maybe, but I got used to working with Russians in the former GDR and actually miss interracting with them. Some might consider them gruff or rude but try to learn a little Russian and they'll get to know you if you return often enough. I'm still hoping by the way that Susanna comes back someday.

Glad they sell the infamous Les Pres Sales butter here! I was looking for it all over the city!

Oh how I love this place! For any homesick Eastern European, be you Romanian, Ukrainian, Czech, or perhaps also Russian, this is a taste of home. Every few feet you find an antidote to your isolation -- the Russian candies, the Romanian tuica and palinca, the special cheeses, the smoked fish, the tea ready for the samovar, the preserves ready for your spoon, and the many hot and cold dishes made by people who understand your palate. I have been for many years a devoted customer. They never stop sourcing the ingredients and materials we crave. When a shipment of the Romanian Feateasca Neagra wine (made for 6000 years in the beautiful Romanian vineyards) comes in, be sure to try some of the dry variety and open your mind to the fruitiness of the demisec. Thank you, New World Market, for countless shopping trips where each product into my groaning basket is a step closer to the lost world of my beloved grandmothers. Recommended with enthusiasm!

We have been enjoying Russian Cuisine for the first time, while staying in San Francisco, and I have to say it's been amazing. This was our third stop on a self guided Russian Market field trip along Geary by bike, and I have to say New World had the friendliest & most helpful staff. I went in needing sour cream and a staff member immediately offered me assistance and pointed me in the right direction. I took home a Russian Pro Biotoc Brand that was thick, creamy and delicious. We took two cheese blintzes to go, that were stuffed with what tasted like a ricotta cheese with mixed dried fruits. Amazing. There was a beautiful display of fresh mini pastries piled up hight near the register, that were still warm from the oven. Amazing! Another staff member, could tell I would appreciate trying one of their homemade delicacies, only available for Easter, and encouraged me to purchase a container of the specialty cheese with dried fruit mixture. It is a yummy treat, just the right amount of sweetness. I will take her recommendations any time! I can't wait to go back and put together a 5 course meal trying many more of their freshly prepared delicacies! The selection is huge and it all looks yummy.

Oh, this place! The ladies behind the counter are very rude, pushy and have no manners. In terms of food, the place has nothing special. Their deli meats look old, their "fresh baked" goodies don't look fresh at all. In fact, I asked for certain sausages and the blonde lady sold completely different ones (the most expensive) and snuck in a few more additional to make it even pricier. This was my first and now definitely my last trip to this un-fresh, outdated place.

Best deli food I've eaten. Went yesterday evening and walked away with far more than I intended. Just like the customer ahead of me, the more I looked, the more I wanted. Beef tongue and other salads were superb. The gefilte fish also look delicious. Got cookies and other treats. Beautiful shop and kind staff.

I know nothing about Russian food except for Borscht and Vodka. I know, very stereotypical of me, but I am being honest. I had a Russian coworker, who was actually Ukrainian, but referred to himself as Russian who always brought me a spicy type of vodka every time he went home on vacation. Well, that is until the conflict started. Anyways, he told me about this place a few years ago if I wanted to get some Russian food, but I never got around to visiting until recently. Stepping into this place, I had a flashback from watching George Zimmern's Bizarre Food episode when he visited Russia. I remember him eating a cornucopia of charcuterie from headcheese to plain pork fat because they offered those same things here. They even have a sampler tray where you can taste a little bit of everything, and I took full advantage of. The lady over the counter even offered me to taste a sample of whatever I wanted. Of course I went straight for the head cheese and beef tongue, which I bought a pound each. I think I got a little carried away and almost bought a pound each of everything I tasted. Hey, these were all new flavors to me and I was enjoying the moment. Of course Wifey put a damper on things when she finally had to cut me off after the sixth item I ordered. But she went crazy too and bought some smoked fish and several salads. The eggplant salad was my favorite of the salads she bought as it was meaty, tangy and had a familiar flavor to it. On our first visit, I think we spent over $80 worth of items and wanted to try even more so we returned the following week and bought more stuff for dinner. I got some cheese, beer, meats, tongue, jerky and pastry while Wifey got some smoked salmon collars that were dirt cheap but were quite enjoyable. They were on the saltier side, but can easily cut the salt by sprinkling some lemon juice and it was tasty. I guess the lady was so impressed with our purchase that she even gave us a loaf of bologna on the house knowing that we can handle everything that they had to offer. Spasiva!

Local Russian market in Richmond. This place reminds me of New York a little bit, everyone speaks Russian and endless selections of Russian food and snacks.

I have enjoyed checking this place out recently. Initially I went looking for herring and found a nice selection, but then got really interested in the deli section. They have a cool selection of hams, salami and this turkey and veal loaf that is really pretty good. Next I am going to try some of their frozen dumplings. They have these veal Pelmeni I am curious about. Overall its a nice place to shop that has a nice selection of stuff. I am curious about the liquor they carry. I noticed a bottle of buffalo grass vodka and several fruit flavored liquors behind the counter I think might be nice to try. The service is nice, but I don't speak Russians so sometimes it hard to ask questions about specific products. Still I have found many excellent choices and enjoy poking around. Anyway, if you are looking for Russian food this is definitely a place to check out.

I have to update my review. Firstly, the prepared food here is amazing and legitimately authentic. There is so much variety I don't know how they do it all. There must be an army of cooks in the back, and it is all delicious! They have every kind of deli meat you could want too. l complained in my original review about the slow and unfriendly service. The owner contacted me about it and seems to care about his customers' experience. I've been back since then and the service has actually IMPROVED. I didn't think it would be possible. How rare for feedback to be taken so seriously. Boris is a class act.

I loved my experience here! I have no idea what Russian cuisine really is ... I mean besides vodka, borscht, and ... erm... rye bread (?) but the lady behind the deli counter was so nice and patient with me as I haphazardly pointed at the meats and already-prepared dishes behind the counter and asked her to recommend me something "REALLY RUSSIAN." I tried like 5 different types of food and she was so generous with her time. I came out with a good haul of different goodies for a very reasonable price! I will be coming here more often and trying things one by one! Can't wait to try the poppy seed dessert.

If you're looking for a terrific Russian produce store, then this is the place to go to. They just recently remodeled this store after there was a change in ownership and it looks fantastic. I never imagined that this store could look so organized. In the past, it looked old. There was this messy and disorganized feel to it. However now, they've done little bits of remodeling and the place just came back to life. As soon as you walk in, it's easy for the eye to navigate throughout the store. Everything is in it's place, the workers are always eager to assist, and there is just a very fresh vibe. A major plus to this store is that they have a wonderful deli section. Not only do they offer a huge selection of deli meats and cheeses, they also have ready to eat salads, grilled/baked meats, piroshki's/blintz, and many mouthwatering Russian pastries and cakes. Another plus is that they offer catering services if you're looking for some great food for your next party! Truly a pleasant experience each and every time I come here. I really recommend that everyone stop by here and check out the huge array of appetizing items that they offer!

I've only been experiencing great customer service coming here! Staff is super friendly and highly welcoming. I am not too sure where negative reviews are coming from. If I am ever looking for Russian food (being Russian myself - born and raised in Moscow) I will always go to New World Market. There are plenty places in Richmond to pick from but this one is a go to!!!

I was really surprised how low they fall in the quality of their products. My father decided to by some staff for his birthday and we spent more than 100$. Vienna schnitzel was horrible, beef stroganoff is like rubber .only one thing I would recommend is fried fish . I won't buy anything from them. What a waste!

Someone here is spending hella time in the kitchen. New World has a full deli with meats, stew, international salads with multiple eastern influences with FRESH herbs and veggies. Last night I had veal stew- this is the only food I've ever ordered in life that is reminiscent of my grandmother's cooking. Major love going out to these ladies (maybe guys too!) in the kitchen. Go to the deli counter and find out for yourself! 5 Stars!!!

They sell Spirytus. I was hoping for The Polmos brand but they didn't. The food there looks good and the place is clean.

I am from Russian decent have been shopping here for a couple dozen years so far... I'm really disappointed with the quality of their homemade products in the last 6 to 9 months I believe. They used to have amazing pickled cucumbers and sauerkraut... Now the cucumbers are old and sauerkraut has been sitting there for way too long. Further, they used to make their own vareniki and Pelmeni now they just shipped them in from the manufacture and the taste Is absolutely subpar. It doesn't seem that they care much about turnover or the volume of product to make sure that it's fresh. Again, I have been coming here for decades, and I am so disappointed as to what has transpired to the store.

Stumbled upon this Russian market and deli while waiting for dim sum at Dragon Beaux down the street. Mostly got beer and wine that you really can not find elsewhere and so far it has all been great. I'll definitely be coming back if I end up in the area again, there is lots of interesting looking stuff in there and the staff were all friendly.

I just returned to the Bay Area after living in Russia for a few years. I'm glad I found this place because they have pretty much the full selection of what you could find at your typical over there. Great selection of fresh vegetables for the wife to make some , Russian mayonnaise, , candies and cookies, Georgian wine, ... You name it, they probably have something close to it.

This is the tastiest Russian food in town. They also do catering/special orders...I always picks stuff up for my family around the holidays. Its real Russian food and groceries, owned and operated by Russian people so dont be shy if you want to order something from behind the counter or try anything They also recently bought/rented? the building next door and remodeled it into a banquet hall, its pretty cute my friend had his wedding reception there

This place had homemade beef jerky sticks that were bomb. I didn't expect this Russian market to have such great jerky sticks. They run for about a dollar each (charge by weight) and it's pretty big! They also serve these round yellow pastries at the register so I got one because the lady in front of me bought half a dozen. 10 minutes after leaving the store I took a bite of it and spit it out. It was like filled with some sort of sweet cream cheese and it was gross... But yah get the jerky sticks :)

I go there once in a while to get some Russian candy from my childhood. Last time I went, there were pigeons eating the grapes from the outside food bins. Grapes that people will buy and eat! Gross! I told the cashier, she just laughed. I will still go there to buy packaged items, but I will never buy fresh produce or even their deli items. If they don't care about pigeons eating their produce outside, I doubt they care about the varmints that are inside their store.

For years now I've been coming here to get my Russian sugar fix. This market has a great selection of Russian candies, some imported and some made in New York. These candies, mostly chocolates and fruit candies, can be found in many large bins placed at front and center of the store. Flavors are wide ranging and they often come with some kind of fruit and/or nut fillings. After a few grabs, mixes and matches, I send these tasty gifts to my family and friends at $5 per pound. Off and on I will stash some for myself and each is a delectable surprise once the colorful wrapper comes off. I came here earlier today and as i was shamelessly stuffing my candy bag a little boy walked up and asked, "What are you going to do with those?" How cute! I'm gonna eat them and I'm gonna like them of course. In addition to their sugary treats, the store has fresh breads and pastries neatly stacked in baskets behind the register while the bakery section is filled with good looking cakes and more chocolates. Of course, if anyone is down to picking up a shopping basket, they run the gamut on their meat and wine section. Service is friendly and personable. 4 stars for its rarity, authenticity, and range of unique selections of Russian goodies. Love this local gem!

Oh my god, the salespeople! The two stars that I gave (begrudgingly, at that) are reserved for the food sold here, and only the food-- but more on that later. The lack of 3 stars is purely for the cashiers. Every time I go up to the counter to ring up my order, I'm met with some of the most sour looks I've ever seen. Ok, so maybe it's been a bad day, I get that. But for the 30+ or so times I've shopped here, it's been the same. "Maybe it's me?" I think, so I asked some of my other Russian friends, and they've had similar results. Even the babushki at the bazaars back in Ukraine are friendlier than these people. Want to get a slice of meat at the deli? You'll probably have to wait at least 10 minutes, even as the salesperson behind the counter is right there, looking straight at you, but doesn't bother to move. Just bought your groceries and need your credit card back? The cashier will fling it back at you, like a ninja star. Trying to look at some products? The stock person will use all the power in his hips and elbows to push you so he can get to his all-important task of stocking 5 packages of tovorog. (I think you're starting to see a pattern here, so I'll leave it at that). Anyway! If you still want to shop here (are you a masochist by any chance?), here are the following foods I would recommend: -Sulguni cheese (stylized as )-- YUM. This is a slightly salty, but very smooth type of cheese. It can also be used in the Georgian cheese pasty Khachapuri, or simply melted on a piece of bread. -Cherry Vareniki- These are in the frozen section, but super delicious! You have to boil these for a bit, but they're deliciously soft dough filled with cherries. -Chicken pelmeni- On a similar note, these are dough-covered pieces with meat filling. Goes great with a bit of salt and some sour cream. :) -Eggplant spread- I've only tried this once, but it has a nice mix of spices and veggies Good luck, you'll need it.

I have been a customer here for a long time. And today I check on yelp, it shows a ``poor food safety score`` warning. I was shocked to be honest. Probably would try to find other alternatives. I would really hope I could trust the food quality here cuz the location is really convenient for me. However, I have 0 torrelent to unsafe food. Hopefully the management would do something about the situation, Otherwise I am very sure there will be other customers leaving also. Will check back after a few weeks to see if the situation has been resolved.

So much good food! So many choices! Best of all, everything is of such high quality! We get our food for picnics and outings there and take it to the beach. Never a disappointment. Largest selection of Russian foods I have ever encountered in California. Super helpful employees. You might get stuck in line because everyone buys so much! Worth every penny.

Solid selection of Russian classics. We're talking cheeses, smoked meats, and a great selection of frozen pelmeni/vareniki. Huge selection of prepared food in the deli that I haven't had a chance to try yet - I usually go to stock up on herring, pelmeni, and sweets and have never been disappointed.

I have shopped here for many years, but only with great regularity this past year. I do not, in any way, want to harm their business but I have 2 issues. The food sitting out. I do not understand how this is legal. There is cooked food sitting on a counter, uncovered, no heat or cooling applied. Just sitting there. Cream sauces, cooked meats, fish, poultry. Second. Mask wearing during covid. There is an old man who I imagine is either the owner or father of the owner and this guy refuses to wear a mask. He walks around the store with it below his nose or on his chin 100% of the time I've been there. Please tell this guy to wear his mask. Also, it would probably be for the best for the rest of the staff to have their snacks away from the counter. 2 different employees dropped masks to eat in the 4 minutes I was there. But mainly its that old man. I know wearing a mask sucks, I do it at work all day long too. While I'll never buy the cooked food that is stored improperly, I LOVE their deli case and the baked stuff. Amazing selection of deli meats at great prices that can't be found anywhere else. As for the staff being nice. The youngest ladies are really nice. Super sweet. There was 1 older lady, who seems to be gone, who was super nice too. She kept telling me to try different things like a grandma. It was great. The rest of the ladies there are exceptionally indifferent at best. Only a few times has it veered to rude behavior. To the reviewer who didn't understand the negative reviews on the staff.. I certainly think your ability to speak Russian has something to do with that.

It's a great place for pelmeni (meat dumpling) , red caviar, russian vodka, and good old soviet era chocolate goodies. I've been coming for years and will continue to do so ....

Love this place. You never know what you will find. It has a surprisingly good selection of Eastern European and Russian beer.

I got scammed. Go there every now and then to buy delicacies. This time they sold me duck legs which turned out to be chicken legs. Signs are worn out. I had to ask if it was duck legs for sure. Yep they said. But no such thing. Chicken.

Good Russian and Eastern European food store, smaller than Royal Market 3 blocks east, clean, brightly lit, snappy and efficient. I go mainly for prepared foods and snacks. The soups are nice.

My BF's Russian immigrant parents swear by this place- there are north of a million delis in SF, half of which specialize in European stuff, but this one is the best. They've fully vetted it and it's their choice deli for the past decade. Prior to moving away from the Bay area, they purchased a giant feast of foods from here- partly because they were going to a potluck party and partly because BF and I love to eat. Somehow, we got to sample nearly everything offered here. Loved: the stuffed chicken neck, smoked salmon belly, crepes and caviar, lamb kabob. Not even kidding about the kabob, it's probably the best kabob I've ever had. Liked a lot: veggies, roasted garlic potatoes, pierogies (only available in cabbage when we went, so bummed!), pelmini/blintzes (can find everywhere lately). Still pretty decent: oliveye (simply expected better), herring in fur coat (too much sour cream?), that meat jello stuff I refuse to eat but the rest of the family swears is amazing. If you're yelping for Russian deli staples, this is THE place to go. Ignore the rest. There are way too many others to do the research yourself, just trust me on this.

This is my go-to Russian market. Great option for a huge selection of deli, caviar, good bread, pelmeni, and of course beet salad. Decent selection of eastern-euro sweets (pryaniki) and sauces (ajvar). Although smaller than a few of their competitors, I've never wanted to go elsewhere once I discovered it. The best days are when Misha, the owner, strongly insists that you try all of the deli, and baked goods, by continuously handing you toothpicked samples. Pro tips: + hosting a few people over? call ahead for a deli platter + speaking Russian is a plus, but not required + always take the hot Ajvar. Parking in the Richmond is hard, you've been warned.

This is our go-to for the Eastern European stuff. Especially ikura and deli meat. It takes my wife back to her soviet roots. I like to check out the beer case. 'Obolon' from her neighborhood in Ukraine is great beer, just get the premium or sobordne. The Polish beers are good too. Great selection of vodka. Try the Nemiroff cranberry brandy.

The love continues at the New World Market. It takes some time to learn how to shop here, even if you have grandparents from Eastern Europe, but if you don't, the entire place can even be more overwhelming. But don't let the deter you, dive in, shop around and enjoy. I've been raving about their Odessan eggplant salad for years. It's always in the same spot, up front on the far right of the display case. The recipe has actually gotten better in time with less oil and more freshness. Garnish with dill. Also of particular note here is the homemade smoked salmon steaks and the cured salmon filets. Try both. There are other smoked fish whose name elude me, and they are a bit more advanced on the pallet, but they are still good. The deli case has cured meats from all over the world. Try one of the bolognas or a sausage. And don't miss the beer case. They even have an authentic Kölsch-- you can see how much the local breweries are messing this recipe up. Lastly, the desert case is not to be missed. Try a banana chocolate puff or their famous Napoleon cake, which I think is occasionally made in house. WE have to band together, shop here, and make sure this endangered species stays open. There is no substitute, alternate or otherwise for this wonderful market.

I really like this place. It is cool to find interesting Eastern European/Russian items, and the chicken noodle soup they have there in the deli case is super good.

Worst stuff ever I ve been waiting for someone to help me to find spices, therefore i was standing near by the meat section and texting to my friend.finally after a while a lady approached me and instead of asking me if i need something, she just rudely asked me if i record a video of them and their store.???excuse me, just because im holding my phone in my hands doesn't mean that i m trying to shoot an oscar movie in your place. Anyway, after we figured it out, that i was just texting(i showed her my phone's screen with the texting window)she just send me to the cashier and told me to ask her. The Turkish delight: Delicately flavored, satisfyingly chewy texture, bright beautiful colors, dusted with powdered sugar. My boyfriend brought me some home from his trip to SF, to my absolute delight.

Rude staff. Sausages were old too. I am not going to come again. No wonder they violated health conducts already. I would have given 3 stars, but can't help it when those older ladies with heavy accents are super unfriendly and rude.

Love this Market in my Neighborhood! It has everything from fresh vegetables to specialty gourmet cheese and meats !

:'( Signs of a bad economy: ** Platters of free samples from the deli are now gone. Okay. So I use to come here quite often to pick up several slices of my fave cured meats to take along on hiking and fishing trips, in addition to their sesame seed candies I've grown so fond of. What really knocked my inclination were the massive platters of deli samples resting atop the counter. No more. Looks like the recession hit home. And you really know it has hit when they are selling the butt ends of the salami chubs by the package in the refrigerated section. In addition to the amazing cured meats selection, they also play host to cheeses, baked goods and vegetables and fruits adding color to the bland sidewalk outside. If you can't find something specific, feel free to wander down to the Israel Kosher Meat-Poultry & Deli. This is where I've picked up my little triangles of sugared heaven: hamentaschen! Just in time for Purim! I left with a salami tube, priced pleasantly at $8. There was a specific darker type I was looking for but the Pho was calling so we were in / out within a ten minutes.

When I look into a bin that has "SPECIAL" written on it - I DONT expect to see items that expired a year ago! I understand if they are close to being expired & you are trying to sell them faster hence cheaper...NOT expired food products. When I tell a cashier "Your items are expired!!!", I dont expect to hear a rude" THats why they are on special!" WTF? You can get some one REALLY sick with this shi* If the health board finds out - they WILL shut you down. I used to come here, but this expired stunt plus completely rude staff totally turned me off. I dont need to feel like THEY are doing me a favor by letting me buy their food. There are plenty of other stores around with fresher items & MUCH friendlier staff. What a shame.
