15 Outstanding Halal Restaurants in Los Angeles

"New York City Chicken & Gyro’s mission is to bring a bit of New York-style halal street food to Los Angeles. Try the lamb, beef, or chicken gyro at locations in Canoga Park, West LA, and Pasadena. The saucy chicken wings doused in a proprietary sauce are the standouts." - Mona Holmes

Google
Hats off to Steve, the supervisor at the restaurant! He truly makes you feel welcomed and appreciated as a customer. I had the cheeseburger, which was made fresh and juicy, and I also loved their seasoned fries. The portions were generous—more than what you’d get at most other places. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating and super clean, making it a great spot for dining in. Plus, it’s located in a pleasant, walkable area in Pasadena, and I had no trouble finding free parking. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu, and I highly recommend others do the same! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently dined at New York chicken and gyro, and I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the food! The gyros are simply out of this world—perfectly seasoned meat, fresh veggies, and that white sauce is to die for! What truly set this experience apart was the outstanding service provided by Steve. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. His recommendations were spot on, and he made us feel like valued guests throughout our meal. You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers, and that makes all the difference. If you're looking for a delicious meal with top-notch service, I highly recommend this place is a hidden gem, and I can't wait to come back for more! 10/10!

Google
Wow the lamb here is SO tasty and good!!! Their decorations are cute, wasn’t too long of a line, they have good business, and the food is gooood!! We got the chicken gyro wrap and the mixed plate. Both were delicious but I really loved the lamb the most! It’s clean inside and the employee was friendly and she helped give us recommendations since it was our first time! Prices are so affordable too!!

Google
The food quality has been really bad the last few times I went in, ordered the mix platter with half salad and it just felt too much more than half. Ordered the chicken gyro with extra pita and they didn’t give that. Really disappointed as it was one of my favorite places to order from the food is just not the same and absolutely hate the fries always soggy and salty.

Google
We got lucky and was able to find street parking near by. They allowed us to bring in our dog which was nice. The food was okay. Nothing super special but good for a quick bite if you are in the area. It was nice of them to give extra sauce with each order without us having to ask for it. Lamb was a bit gamey if you eat it alone. You can't taste it if it's covered in their white sauce. Fries were nice and crispy but very oily. Their fountain drinks are Pepsi items.

Google
Addicted to the mixed meat plate n fried fish. It has become my bi-weekly fav and my go to Mediterranean lately. My only gripe is that each time I come, they get stingier with sauces. This week the white sauce came in a squeeze package like store bought salad dressing, not giving the feel of "homemade".... Just weird 😕 and consistency is not the same, go back to the little plastic container! They didn't provide the brown spicy sauce or ask if I wanted any, so pretty disappointed by when i got home because it really adds kick to flavor. Otherwise I really like the food and speed of this place for my quick Mediterranean fix. they've also got good kid options like cheeseburger, nuggets and fries to default to if you're feeling less adventurous. Parking on green St is hell, so go early or on a weekday and get comfortable walking around.

Google
The food is good and satisfies, but might make you feel not so great after you eat it. Lots of sauce. The portions are good and decent value. The interior is big and clean, and the staff are very friendly. Open late to satisfy any late night cravings.

Yelp
New York Chicken & Gyro is a lifesaver for busy lunch breaks in Pasadena. Even when the place is packed, the service is incredibly fast. You won't wait forever to get your gyro fix! Speaking of gyros, their mix platter is phenomenal. It's a fantastic value - a generous portion of juicy chicken and flavorful lamb gyro served over fluffy rice. They add a fresh salad on the side for some crunch, but the real star is their white sauce. So creamy and delicious, it ties the whole thing together perfectly. Just a heads up, parking can be a bit tricky since it's street parking only. But let me tell you, it's worth the hassle. The portions are huge for the price, so you definitely get your money's worth. Overall, New York Chicken & Gyro is a Pasadena gem. Fast service, fantastic food at great prices - highly recommend!

Yelp
Friendly serve but nothing amazing. My friend heard about this spot opening up and it was suppose to rival Halal Guys. We got the mixed platter which contains chicken and lamb. The first thing I noticed was that the meal itself was lukewarm, and I like my food freshly hot. I'm not sure if it was all the condiments on top that cooldown the meat significantly or what. Second thing was, the meat was not juicy nor noteworthy. I even had to ask for more tzatziki sauce so I can inject more flavor into this meal. I much prefer Rafi's in Glendale or Spitz in Little Tokyo if I want Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food. I would say the customer service was really nice which is why I gave them a 3 stars!

Yelp
Service - 5/5 Great service on the phone and in person. Mixed Plate - 3.5/5 Lamb was too salty. Hot sauce is good but not too spicy. Drip Wings - 1/5 So salty we couldn't eat more than a bite :( Has great potential though. Falafel - 3/5 Salty again...but good flavor and crunch.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night and we felt like the place was a halal guy's knockoff. The portion sizes were good but the taste was not as expected. The chicken platter had plenty of meat to rice ratio, but both items did not have much flavor. The white sauce that was provided felt like a watered down ranch. Not so appetizing. The staff was friendly but major disappointment in taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Got the chicken gyro - this was good! The flavor of the chicken is good here, though not too memorable when I try to recall it - using the red sauce helps a lot. The portion size is generous. I like that this feels like a good value for your money. Service was friendly and fast. There was loud rock music playing when I was there but I didn't mind it much. Overall I wouldn't mind coming back, maybe to try the lamb gyro. PS: be careful if you get the gyro, it's pretty messy and gets all over.

Yelp
One of the many things I miss from my time in NYC is the ability to get a chicken and rice plate one of the many halal carts in the city. I've tried a few wannabes in LA and I have to say this is the closest I've found yet. Price and portion size of the chicken platter were both good. The flavor was decent, but not the best I've had. It is good enough to fill that void though and I'd definitely come back again.
google avatar

Allan D.

Yelp
I never understood the hype behind the halal chicken and rice. I've had a couple of knock offs and full disclosure never had in NY, but after perusing Reddit for the most authentic experience I found this place. I was blown away. The white and red sauce are extremely addicting and compliment the soft, warm, moist chicken and rice. The fries added some texture variation giving you a nice crunch. It's Pasadena so street parking it is. You might need to drive around a couple of times to find a lot, but this place slaps.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been thinking about this gyro place since I've had it. This is truly one of the best gyros I've ever tasted here in LA, considering we don't have a robust Mediterranean scene here. The mixed gyro was very flavorful and savory and we paired it with the falafels, which was not too dry at all. The service was fairly quick . You order at the counter and it's ready within 15 minutes. The location is prime surrounding really good eateries in Pasadena. It's a very social ambiance but limited tables.

Yelp
Nice cozy spot that definitely hit my New York street food craving. Generous portion sizes as well. Will definitely come back

Yelp
There are very few places where I crave the carb more than the protein, and this is one of them. I love their rice! The long grain rice has a wonderful cumin forward spice blend, very reminiscent of biryani rice. I highly recommend the mix platter so you can get best of both worlds with chicken and lamb. I also appreciate the salad and sauces to brighten the dish. It's a decent amount of food so I saved half for dinner, and expect it'll reheat perfectly. It is on a one-way street with street parking. They are super speedy too with the platters, basically ready by the time you fill up your drink.

Yelp
We cannot get enough of this place!!! My go to is the chicken gyro and my husbands go to is the lamb platter. Get lots of hot sauce; I can't get enough!! We both prefer to do the white sauce on the side or light because they are a little heavy handed. If you have a sweet tooth, the chocolate chip cookie is really good, but the brownie is AMAZING. Staff are all super friendly. There are TVs and it's a nice open seating area. Park in the back of the building as Green usually doesn't have parking and the sidewalks are high if you're in a compact car.

Yelp
:: Food :: I tried their mixed platter (a blend of chicken & lamb over rice/salad) and it was delicious, the proteins were surprisingly moist. I find other places that sell Mediterranean food, the proteins tend to be a bit dry, but not at New York Chicken & Gyro! The sauces that's provided were also really yummy and flavorful, the red one was not as spicy as I thought so don't be alarmed by the color. :: Service :: Customer service was superb! I believe the girl who took our order was Viviana (per the order slip) and she was soo nice. She was friendly when we were ordering and when I got up to get a lid, since I wasn't able to finish my food, she already knew what I was going to ask and provided me with the lid and asked if I needed more sauce for to-go. Thank you so much for being so sweet. :: Parking :: Parking can be a bit tricky since it's just street parking. There may be a tiny parking lot behind The Boy & The Bear that you can try to park at, although I'm not sure if it's only for The Boy & The Bear customers or if it's shared. :: Tip :: You can check-in to see what deals they are offering. At the time that we went, it was a free drink with your order.

Yelp
This new place opened up in my neighborhood and but I never get a coupon or anything to have an incentive to try it out. One day I was feeling like gyro and decided maybe I would try this place out. Staff was really friend as I walked in. He suggested me to try the mixed platter but if I really want gyro, it's good too. I decided to go with his recommendation and he was right! The mixed platter has chicken and lamb and both tasted good. I also got some pita bread to go with it. Everything I got was tasty and the portion size was good for the price. I am now a fan. I have been back a few times and would suggest others in the area to try this place out. Staff was friendly and there are plenty of place to sit if you want to dine in.

Yelp
I'm sorry but my expectations were high while ordering this since I'm from New York and I love the halal stands there. Also bc this spot is named New York Chicken &gyro!! But the meats and the flavoring were just ehhh okay. I feel like the rice can make or break the dish and for me, the rice here is not it. They give a lot of food but I like quality over quantity.

Yelp
I've eaten a few different entrees from this location, and all have been spectacular. In all, I've tried the Fried Fish Platter, Mix Platter, and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The Fried Fish Platter includes a large piece of fried Swai fish over basmati rice and house salad, with a slice of lemon on the side. Fresh, slightly crisp, and delicious, but not even the best part. The basmati rice has to be some of the best I've ever had. Incredibly flavorful and savory, I could eat this with every meal. House salad is filled with shredded lettuce and tomatoes and balances out the heartier portions of the overall meal. The Mix Platter includes a combo of mouthwatering marinated chicken and grilled lamb with onions served over basmati rice and salad, similar to the Fried Fish Platter. Very filling, and a lot of bang for your buck. There is more than enough sauce in this meal on its own, but there is complimentary white sauce if you're feeling like loading up even further. And onto the final meal, the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, similar to the Fried Fish Platter is just slightly crisp. Served with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup & mayo it had your usual fillers you'd expect from a burger/sandwich minus the cheese. I liked it. Love ordering from here and will continue to do so, while exploring new options I haven't yet checked out on the menu!

Yelp
this solid spot in pasadena met my expectations I would say. definitely not as great as the places in new york but satisfied the cravings for sure . I don't love lamb so I got the chicken platter and it was tasty! the meat had some crispy components and the rice and sauce were very flavorful. the house salad added a refreshing crunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered some food for pickup for 3 ppl. When I got there, they had my order ready, and the bag was stapled. The server was nice and I asked her if forks were inside. She said yes. Later: no forks. Kinda important. Chicken platter: good portion size. The chicken was pretty good, but a little dry. I asked for the white sauce on the side. They did include extra sauce, but you can see below...another fail.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch while I was working in Pasadena and I was blown away by how good this spot was. Similar to Halal Guys, they serve New York street food that is incredible flavorful and delicious! I got their mix platter which was full of seasoned lamb and chicken covered in sauces with salad on the side. The lamb was well-seasoned and flavorful and the chicken while having a red color was not too spicy, and was moist and tender! The rice underneath was cooked perfectly and it was a filling meal! The sauces mixed together elevate the whole platter and their white sauce combined with their hot sauce are a great combination. The inside is brightly lit and there's plenty of seating available. Parking is available on the street and they bring out your food fairly quick! Definitely a great lunch or dinner spot to hit up if you are in Pasadena, they are one of the few spots around serving up delicious Halal food!

Yelp
Hmm. Off day maybe after reading all the review that raved about this place. Being originally from NY this place was meh at best. Cool decor that had a NY nostalgia vibe. Got the mixed gyro which I didn't even finish. Meat tasted low grade. Won't be back.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 We were in the are for an event at the Pasadena Convention Center and worked up an appetite so we wanted something we knew we would like. As committed patrons of the NYCG in the SFV (yes, go there!), we wanted to try their sibling location in Pasadena to see if they're able to maintain the same quality and flavor. And, YES! What a great place! First, we were greeted by the young woman at the cashier. She was so lovely; I'm sad I didn't get her name but I think she's been there for a while. There was a little boy playing around and I said, "he's so cute" and she said, his family had been coming since the beginning. It's nice when employees know the regulars. We ordered two chicken plates and a gyro wrap. Fire. Please do yourself a solid and visit NYCG. The chicken is tender and flavorful, the rice is light and toasted, fresh veggies (I examined the lettuce bc you know how they can be sometimes, if was fresh!), and the SAUCES! It's ALL ABOUT THE SAUCES. They're is a hot sauce and a white creamy situation. Both elevate the flavor! Enjoy!
google avatar

Chanel K.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot after a hike! Parking was a bit hard to find since it's street parking. The store was brightly lit and clean. The service was good and our food came out fast. Ordered the chicken gyro and wow! It's packed with flavor. The chicken was nice and soft. The wrap also has lettuce and tomatoes which balanced out nicely. Probably one of the best gyros I've had in a while! Their lemonade and watermelon lime refresca was very refreshing as well. I don't come out to Pasadena too often, but when I do, I'll definitely be visiting this spot again.

Yelp
This place is so delicious; such a great spot in Pasadena. Might even be better than Halal Guys... Seriously. I got the Mix Platter which comes with chicken, lamb, rice, and salad. The portion size honestly surprised me because you're getting a bang for your buck. And the flavor of their meats and rice PLUS THEIR SAUCE! They KNOW what they're doing. You won't be disappointed. The people working there were very kind, and the space is a good size. The only downside is trying to find parking in the area.
google avatar

Jonathan K.

Yelp
I was on the road so I had to pick up, the smell was so good I immediately started eating it in the car The inside was cool and had a couple nods to New York and obviously a chicken to welcome you in The server was nice when I picked up my order so I imagine service is good Now the actual gyro was stacked full of chicken schwarma and salad with the white sauce, and the gyro was soft and buttery but able to hold all the content within. It was hot, tasty, and still portable, I imagine sitting and eating it would've been even better Not a bad option if you're in Pasadena, I would even make the trek out there just for this
google avatar

Charisse F.

Yelp
Lamb over Chicken Got the Mix Platter, Lamb Gyro, and Fries. The lamb was better than the chicken! And per my kid, fries & white sauce over everything else. The pita bread on the gyro was pillowy, soft, & chewy (yum). And though the mix platter didn't remind me of New York halal, it's worth a try, but maybe with just the lamb instead. Friendly service & clean restaurant. 4.572/5 stars!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious! They are a shop in Pasadena that does Mediterranean so well! I highly recommend coming in and trying them out! They interior is very NY-esque Food: delicious! Their mixed gyro comes with lamb and chicken. There is no gaminess to the lamb whatsoever! They also fill you up with all the meats stacked high. The chicken sandwich was okay, but the FRIES! The fries tasted freshly fried and crispy. I recommend asking for the tzatziki sauce too! Service: friendly! They were all so friendly and the woman behind the counter helped us out. She gave us a couple more sauces cause it was the end of the night too. Thank you!!
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
The store has street parking and a small parking lot. Spacious inside. There's indoor dining. We tried the chicken platter, lamb platter and also got a mixed platter (combo of chicken and lamb). Cones with rice and salad and extra sauce. It was sooooo good. The rice and meats were flavorful and the salad was a fresh and refreshing complement to the meat. Yum!!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Wow the lamb here is SO tasty and good!!! Their decorations are cute, wasn't too long of a line, they have good business, and the food is gooood!! We got the chicken gyro wrap and the mixed plate. Both were delicious but I really loved the lamb the most! It's clean inside and the employee was friendly and she helped give us recommendations since it was our first time! Prices are so affordable too!!

Yelp
I have not much to say, other than this place is 10x better than Halal Guys. Super delicious food and generous portions.

Yelp
Was craving this kind of New York street food - there's not many places in Pasadena that serves this type up. So I came by to grab something quick on the way home. The lady in front super friendly definitely makes you feel welcomed. I ordered a chicken and lamb combo plate with 3/4 salad and rice. The meat was cooked well it had a lot of flavor and they drizzle that delicious sauce all over it. I ordered a side of falafel - it was okay crispy but kinda dry I wouldn't order it again. Super cool that you can adjust the rice and salad ratio. I'll definitely come back because the food tasted so fresh, also don't forget to grab a couple extra white/red sauces on the way out.

Yelp
The food is still pretty good for the price but Jackie at the register needs an attitude change. They close at 10 and she made it a point that last order time is at 9:30. They even pressured a group of other patrons (not with me) that they need to be done eating by 9:45 at the latest. After the group left around 9:30, a lady with a dog comes in and the friendly cook from the kitchen takes her order at 9:40pm as Jackie was probably cleaning elsewhere. The restrooms were closed off before closing time and I asked politely if I may use them and Jackie hesitated to grant me permission but I'm grateful she did in the end. I understand they were just cleaned but she needs to be able to put on a poker face when it comes to customer service. For checking in on Yelp, I should have been rewarded a soft drink but I didn't realize until later looking at my receipt that I was actually charged for it. The funny part is I even had to remind Jackie about giving me a cup. I even tipped them since I respect the hard work they put forth but I'm disappointed that they would be careless and inconsistent with how they treated some of their customers. I understand it was a Saturday night and I can understand the employees are anxious to end their shift but it's not fun to receive sub-par customer service when I was being friendly from the beginning. I love the food here and my other times have been great experiences so I'm going to try to not make this experience overshadow the good ones.

Yelp
Wow...a gem in Pasadena! I am so happy to find a great tasting gyro place. Chicken threw me off with its tandoori color, but it tastes great. Lamb in the mix plate was not gamey. I did not try the falafel, but our son said it wasn't dry and the spices were on point. Check in for a free drink. Clean and friendly, all the food is made on premises (no costco business reheats). Special shout out to vivian at the front counter who was super cheerful and welcoming!! NY chicken & Gyro is waaay better than those "h..guys".
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
Comparable to Halal guys, this place has good lamb. The hot sauce isn't as spicy but the white sauce is delicious! - Mixed Platter (comes with fries and a drink) 4/5 Lots of rice and a bit of lettuce, it comes out and it's huge! It's definitely sharable. The lamb tastes better than the chicken. The hot sauce isn't spicy. However, the FRIES ARE CRISPY AND DELICIOUS. I would come here just to get the fries as a snack. - Falafel (side order) 3/5 Kind of dry and extra crunchy on the outside. It's good but very dry. Parking is street parking. Pay through app.

Yelp
I'm really into chicken plates like this, but my gf does not really like Halal guys so when I found New York Chicken & Gyro near us I was ecstatic. My gf and I ventured here once day on a Saturday to grab some lunch. They have several tables to choose from and a lot of fun New York style art. I remember seeing a pay phone on the wall which was very nostalgic! As for the food, you can pretty much choose between a chicken/lamb/falafel rice plate or a a gyro with any of the aforementioned meats. The first time my gf and I both had a plate and really enjoyed them. Very flavorful and they give you so much food! You can get a white sauce and red sauce on the side to pour onto your food (I recommend both). The one thing that really caught us off guard is go great their french fries are. Not sure what it is, but they were yummy so I'd recommend those as well. Most recently I tried the lamb gyro and I have a fan! That might be my new go to here. They give a hefty amount of meat and the flavor is exactly what you expect. All in all, this place is nice if you want something light and not too heavy that won't break the bank. Will definitely be coming back again

Yelp
This place is so good - my new comfort food! Plus the service when you actually go in is awesome - really kind staff

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. So simple and delicious! Easy way to get my proteins in! The girl running the front is so sweet! I wanted some slight alterations to my plate. 3/4 salad and 1/4 rice. This time I ordered double meat! Inside only has 6 tables, but the volume and rotation of people is high! I'm here at 8:40pm and there's an influx of people! Wish they had grilled fish option!

Yelp
This newly opened Middle Eastern restaurant (very similar to Halal Guys) in Pasadena on Green Street. My husband and I came here Friday during lunch and we are so glad we came around 11:30am, right before the 12pm lunch rush! The cashier was very friendly and asked us if it was our first time trying so she suggested the mixed plate since that was the most popular. Because I'm not a fan of lamb, I ordered the chicken plate and my husband ordered the mixed plate. The food came out pretty quick and we sat inside. They have several tables inside for you to sit down and eat. Tables were clean and the area where you get your drinks and utensils were very clean too. The chicken platter had great flavor, definitely "layers of deliciousness" as advertised on their website! The meat was shredded very thinly and drenched with their white sauce, very tender and flavorful.

Yelp
So, so delicious! Been on the hunt for tasty Halal food, because Halal Guys hasn't really been my favorite. This place hits! Generous portions, flavorful food, and quick and friendly service. The lamb platter is really filling and delicious! Was offered a sample because I wasn't sure how game-y the meat would be (NOT AT ALL) and is well-seasoned. The white sauce is creamy and fresh, and the pilaf (rice) is tender. The red sauce is spicy and sweet. The drip wings are also well-cooked, browned and sweet with a creamy paprika (red) sauce. I can't wait to re-visit because the food is so fresh. The person who was working the counter was super patient and friendly. (Besides the samples, she also offered us free drinks!) She recommended the swai fish filet to try next time-- I definitely will!

Margarita M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The food is delicious, and the service is always friendly and top-notch. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you go, but it's totally worth it for the great food. I highly recommend giving it a try!
google avatar

Lieanne M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I ordered the mix platter, lamb gyro, falafel, and drip wings. Mix Platter - Really good portion for the price especially during this economy! I was able to eat half and save the other half for later. The chicken and lamb were well seasoned. Perfectly cooked - not dry and so juicy. The lamb was perfectly tender. I asked for extra white sauce and was given two on the side! The falafel was also not dry, really good with the white sauce! The drip wings. Can't even describe the drip wings . The different sauces combined so well and the wings weren't soggy AT ALL! I loved it so much. Chicken was juicy and delicious. Overall vibe and service of the place was great. The workers were nice and the service was quick. We waited maybe 10 minutes? The place is more on the medium size with maybe 5/6 tables? It seems more of a to-go place as I noticed people were ordering to go rather than dining in. Parking situation was ok, street parking. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Pasadena has another hidden gem, and it could easily compete with Halal Guys. I genuinely appreciate their flavorful rice, and their chicken, while red in color, isn't spicy. I typically opt for pickup or delivery because this is the type of food that tends to satisfy my cravings the most. Their service is pretty fast and they have clean seating area too. You can park on the street or at the back.

Yelp
The chicken platter is pretty good. The chicken is flavorful. The fries were especially good. A really nice crispiness. The only downside was the lettuce looked a little old. Parking: street parking. The music was also very loud in that place. Very casual vibe. The service is good. The lady in the front was very helpful. Overall: Might return if in the area

Yelp
This place is obviously inspired by the halal carts in NY and as someone who grew up there, I think they do a great job at mimicking the taste and look of the original. The portion sizes are generous, and the meat is always perfectly cooked, never dry or overly done. They don't skimp on their sauces either which are great and really tie the meal together. The menu is so simple, I would recommend just going with the Mix Platter and Mix Gyros if it's your first time. Whether you choose to dine in or take your food to go, the service is guaranteed to be quick. The inside is well-lit, clean, and surprisingly spacious. Most of the time, it's been empty because I think people prefer takeout. Parking isn't too bad with some street parking available on E Green just outside (conveniently it's right outside of the paid street parking streets).

Yelp
Chicken is tasty. Lamb is premade and seasoned, but tasty. Tzatziki sauce is good, not too dilly. Hot sauce = Mexican bottle salsa (i.e. Valentina, Tapatio, Cholula) + Sriracha. I think their rice is the winner. Chicken broth rice here is fantastic! Okay I would've given them 4 stars but for $10.99 and tasting better than LA Halal Guys and others, I couldn't go less. I really enjoyed my simple dinner here and I'm sure you will too. Their chicken has a nice marinade/rub that entices you to go for another bite and another bite. The lamb is generic and I can't hate it; it goes so well with the rice. Great place for a quick meal or a hang out with others.

Yelp
This is hands down, the best NY style halal food I've had - much better than the ones I've had in NY itself. The portions are huge with super affordable prices. My go-to are the mixed platter and the drip wings, which are packed with flavor.

Yelp
I will admit that I've never eaten Halal cart chicken and rice off the streets of NYC but I have eaten several versions in LA. New York Chicken and Gyro is by far the best and tastiest. It's basically gyro meat, lettuce and tomato, insanely delicious white and red sauces, over rice or inside a fluffy pita. For proteins, you can choose between chicken or mixed gyro, made up of both lamb and chicken, and you honestly cannot go wrong. My husband is not a lamb fan, but even he likes the mild, savory mix gyro option. The rice is unbelievably good with a lot of dill in it. It has so much flavor and must have some secret spices because it gives me an Indian food vibe. The pita is addictively warm and fluffy so we tend to prefer it over the platter, which is just the right size for 1-2 people to share. I also tried the falafel but those were a bit dry for my liking.

Yelp
Very good gyro! I will come again to try other items! Great service and food! Came in Pasadena looking to try something new in the area. After driving a few minutes looking, I saw the sign and gave it a try. I enjoyed their selections at the drink dispensers too.

Yelp
Wanted something on the lighter side for dinner that was easy for takeout and decided to give this a try. Parking was not too bad, we found a street spot close by but we did go at a late hour around 9pm so can see how that'd be tricky during a busy time. My bf got the lamb gyro and I got the mix platter with lamb and rice over half salad and half rice. The meat and rice was well cooked and flavorful. Also the fries were so nicely seasoned and crispy and fresh. Not the best meat and gyro we've ever had but pretty decent, could've been juicier. Service was good overall and it's very clean and pretty spacious inside if you wanted to dine in. Also I know this place is about the white and red sauces like the Halal Guys but I HATE mayo so I usually prefer hummus or tahini with this kind of food and they don't offer.

Yelp
I saw this place listed for a yelp elite event (that I didn't get into :( ) awhile back. I wanted some Mediterranean type food at first and then I was reminded of this spot. I'm so glad I remembered and stopped by because the food was excellent. I got the chicken and rice plate and it comes with salad all for $11! I'd say it's pretty good pricing for what you get! Also you can check in for a free drink! That watermelon limeade was very good. It was light, not too sweet, and refreshing. That white sauce is like their own tzatziki sauce. It's good on everything. Their hot sauce is also good, its not as spicy as halal guys which i think is better because you can actually enjoy it. You just walk up and order at the cashier and service was great. I asked for extra white sauce and she was so happy to give me however much I wanted. You can dine inside since there are a couple of tables but most people took orders to go. There is parking lot behind the spot but I'm not sure if it's actually belonging to them. Otherwise, you have to find street parking and honestly it's pretty crowded in that area. This is definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Yelp
The food was mediocre at best. The music playing in the dining room was horrific. The service was nonexistent. Had to come up to the counter to get all the items ordered. So glad I didn't leave a tip. I don't plan on coming back here.

Yelp
Was craving a chicken over rice bowl and decided on this place, I had been here before so I knew exactly what deliciousness I was getting myself into. The restaurant itself is pretty casual and not that crowded from the times I've went so ordering is pretty quick and they have a decent selection on their menu including burgers which I was surprised by. I went with my trust combo plate with double protein. I started inhaling my meal as soon as it was ready since I was so ready and it was everything I hoped for and then some. I like to compare this place to halal guys since they have similar offerings but things like the meat quality here is much better it more juicy and tastes like it has substance. The rice is also so good, I find the flavor in halal guy's rice to be a little bland but here you can tell they add something here to give it a pop and it compliments the meat perfectly. Add in some of that red sauce as well and you have a mighty fine meal. I would say this is my go to chicken over rice bowl and I love this place. I always leave here so satisfied and happy that I came here cause it always does the job for me. If you are a fan of this type of food you have to give this a try!
