Took a class with Elizabeth as my instructor and it was one of best pilates classes I have taken! The movements are controlled yet challenging. Her instructions flow smoothly making it very easy to follow. Can’t wait till my next class!

Anna Severson’s classes at NYP are consistently some of the best I’ve taken. Her programming is creative, challenging, and super thoughtful - every movement flows naturally into the next. You can tell she puts a lot of care into each workout, and no two classes ever feel the same. Highly recommend trying Anna’s class if you haven’t already!

I did the week trial here back in April after a running injury required me to do only low impact workouts. I'd done pilates before, ranging from lagree to more intro, but hadn't found something that felt like a fit for me. Georgia's classes quickly grew to be my favorite - they're both challenging yet accessible, she pays attention to each of her students and feels like an instant friend to the entire class. After my week trial, I tried a few different studios but found that I missed NYP and specifically Georgia's classes, so even post injury recovery, I decided to subscribe to the monthly membership. Cannot recommend her class enough!

This studio is amazing, but Anna S’s instruction was even better. Her experience and passion for Pilates comes through while she instructs! I wish I lived here and could take her classes everyday!

Google
I love this studio and totally see an improvement, I've been going for 6 months. The instructors are great and the class is difficult but rewarding. The machine, music, instructors, employees everything is great. The only reason for 4 stars is because there is no good way of contacting them and I've found that frustrating. They used to have a texting system which worked fine but now they redirect you to their website where you have to chat with a bot that always ends up redirecting you to the app for bookings. Would really love a phone number or the messaging system back.

Google
I very much enjoy doing pilates at this studio. The classes are hard and interesting (but not so hard that I feel like I'm going to be injured, or lose motivation to go back). The instructors are welcoming. The upstairs space is beautiful, with high ceilings and natural lighting. Finally, it's great that the studio has so many classes every day--it makes it easy to find ones that work with my schedule!

I am editing my below response since you responded to me. First of all, your defensiveness that a 10 pack per month works for most students says so much, it says that you don't care about accommodating other types of people. The majority of your classes are young women with endless time looking for a simple workout. I liked it for many years because that was me for many years. NOW, I have a child and a demanding job and it's impossible for me to make 10 classes in one month. I never noticed the fine print because I didn't need to ALSO, no other premiere studio in NYC has this insane policy (not Barry's, not Nofar, etc.) so I didn't even think about it. If you don't care about evolving with your clients, then just say that, but it doesn't mean you're not a bad business owner. YOU ARE. This level of customer service is LOW and it will cost you your clients in the long run. I had reached out directly over email for months to try and rectify and you guys took weeks to respond and were not helpful. I have moved on to a studio that doesn't have the same policy and the beauty is, it's a much better class. So maybe just take my feedback and do better. -- Here's my original post: The absolute worst studio. All of them. I started going somewhere else and realized I had wasted YEARS with this place, bad instruction and lazy classes. What started my frustration was that my 10 pack expired after 2 months, which is just nuts. They gave me three more weeks to use it. When I cancelled two classes at the end of the extension because I was sick they charged me $15 on top so I paid $75 a class and couldn't use them because it was the last few days of my extension. I guess my fault for not using it but that timeline is diabolical!! Absolute hatred for this type of business practice so I tried a new spot and it is killer.

Google
As someone who has struggled to find a workout that I love and look forward to going to, I'm so happy to have finally found a place I truly enjoy. My experience with New York Pilates - customer service, the studio, the instructors, & the workout itself are excellent. The 45 minute workout is exactly the level of challenge I want, without feeling discouraged or terribly exhausted. The instructors are helpful and considerate of all skill levels. The customer service team is easy to reach on SMS and have helped me book classes & make changes to my account with ease. Their NYC studios are some of the loveliest (& cleanest) I've seen. Very excited to continue my fitness journey with NYP. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've noticed significant improvements in my core strength, flexibility, and posture since starting. If you're looking for a skilled, thoughtful, and genuinely caring Pilates instructor, I highly recommend Elizabeth!

Yelp
This place has the NYC vibes with the trendy studio lights and was a great vibe. Check in was easy and the studio is bright and airy. I recommend bringing a full water bottle- they only have a small water jug so not enough water to fill up a huge Stanley. The studio has changing rooms and 3 restrooms and 3 rooms for classes. The class was easy to follow especially if you knew anything about a reformer. However I don't find the class challenging at all. If you are looking to strengthen your muscles, form, or break a sweat this instructor/course didn't meet that (and that's ok depending on your goals). While we did a lot of standard Pilates stuff and we did work arms hard, I feel like the form wasn't as important so even doing a workout that doesn't make you sweat should make you somewhat sore. I would love to go to other classes in the future to test the different instructors but I was visiting from out of town. For almost $50 for one class, I would love to feel sore or break a sweat at least to feel like I got my moneys worth.

Yelp
Elizabeth is such an amazing instructor !!!!! She encourages and challenges in the best way. Perfect location as well. Will highly recommend !!!

Yelp
NYP online platform, NYP World, has no customer service and not a single way to get in touch. They auto charged $240 without a single word of communication that the online platform price was doubling from $120 for the year to $240. No one is answering via IG and there is no way to contact anyone regarding anything, no email, no phone number, nothing. Incredibly unprofessional and unfair. Terrible experience, steer clear of the online platform.

Sophia U.

Yelp
Elizabeth is an incredible instructor & the entire reason I have joined NY Pilates. Her dedication to teaching and helping you become your best, strongest self is unmatched.

Yelp
Loved this Pilates spot! I was visiting NY and wanted to take Pilates and the class was not only asthetically cute but I also felt the workout was challenging and it felt good to move my body early morning! Would totally do it again.

Yelp
My new go to. Clean and spacious studio. Crowded but you don't feel overly crowded. The only thing I'd hope is the mic system can be better because it's hard to hear the instructor.

Morgan L.

Yelp
Will miss Lisa, Kat and Niece, but will never return. Was a member for over a year on the monthly classes. Showed up to one class a total of 2 minutes late today and my spot was given away. Ran to get to class because of how delayed the F train was. Was the first time I had ever seen this person working the door. Clearly the customer service has deteriorated. Multiple times people have showed up 5,10,15 minutes late and have strolled right in to class. I show up late my first time since joining over a year ago and they boot me from the class.

J H.

Yelp
I started at NY Pilates West Village when they opened on West 3rd Street. I LOVED it. They had attentive teachers who cared about your form and corrected it. It focused on breathe and so the studio vibe was calming. They stretched between exercises which makes them more effective. That is all gone. The managers at NY pilates WV in the new location have the music and mic for the instructor up super loud. The instructors agree it's hard on the ears but can't change it. The rooms are packed. There's no attention to individual student's form. Because of the terrible sound often people do exercises totally wrong because they misheard it. The instructors dont seem to notice. And normal pilates normally involves stretching between exercises. NY pilates has eliminated that and just does a brief 2-3 min stretch at the end. Such a shame. Still good exercise. But if you want true pilates this no longer is.

Yelp
My favorite Pilates classes I've ever done! The staff is also so nice and friendly and everything is super clean and pretty. Love love loved it

Yelp
Reviewing for the Flatiron location. I've tried many studios throughout the city, and NYP is definitely the best! Amazing ambiance - beautiful studio, great lighting, energetic music, and incredible vibes overall. But above all, the class was just the right balance of challenging and engaging. Now considering cancelling equinox and getting a membership bc I loved it so much! Would highly recommend!!

Meng L.

Yelp
I've been practicing Pilates for over ten years and have worked either in 1-1 or group reformer / cadillac / mat formats. I seldom write reviews but wanted to share, publicly, the issues with this franchise. I bought an annual membership and have gone roughly 75 times to all the studios in the area. Firstly, NYP runs their series of "Abs, Arms, Ass" to attract the more gullible, Tik-Tok crazed, and influencer-akin population of women, selling an idea versus giving newcomers the experience that exemplifies the true virtue of pilates (contemporary or classical), which is contrology (return to life). Joseph Pilates' teaching is about alignment, strength, body mechanics, posture, correct breathing, flexibility, and ultimately, a lifelong practice that can be as useful as replacing physical therapy. It becomes a friend to you at whatever the level/age. Secondly, you can make it fun and super hard to fit in with the times (which is understandable), but the reformer machine is not a contraption that is SAFE for 1 instructor who was barely certified by any reputable professional pilates consortium, yelling under dim lights over CLUB music, for a new beginner to follow.. She or he who barely understands the difference between femur vs. joint socket. There are roughly THIRTY machines in each class at the studio in Flatiron - how do you teach over 30 people who can't control their own bodies in the correct format? Thirdly, hands on correction without proper apprenticeship (it roughly takes 2 years and multiple certifications elsewhere) was highly concerning. I took a class with a guy called Matt and I won't forget how he asked me to overextend my side plank that was super dangerous. I looked up his specs and of course, trained by NYP which is not associated with any consortium or school. They train people in 3-6 months! Besides Sarah and Megan Meyers, the instructors here create an environment of unsafe practices. And to be honest, the front room girls / guys judges you and worst yet, they renew your membership (even if it is $2500) without telling you and then sends you a text, hey! the card didn't get through for your membership, is this a mistake? Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
I am a certified pilates instructor from California here in NY visiting my daughter for the weekend. From the minute we walked in we were impressed with the vibe and cool aesthetics of the studio! There were friendly staff there waiting to great us and show us where to put our things and where the restrooms were. The pilates rooms are huge (16 reformers!) and lit with a purplish glow. Tabitha, our instructor, gave a nice-paced flow and kept us moving. I appreciate that everything progressed and we worked on the short box with 1 blue spring the entire class with the exception of the warm up and feet in straps. She had good ques and was very personable. We both loved the class and we will return again when I'm back to visit!

Serena D.

Yelp
NYP is wonderful! Amazing workout that you really feel the next day. Also the ambiance and aesthetic of the studio immaculate.

Laura H.

Yelp
this studio was amazing. the instructor was great and truly made the work out fun. The merch they had was super stylish!
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Loved my first class here! It is everything I look for in a Pilates workout. It was challenging yet easy to follow. The west village studio is also beautiful!

Kate B.

Yelp
Really wonderful teachers that are able to make adjustments and acomodations for every body. They hit the sweet spot between an energetic class, and personalized feedback. It's a really fun, bright, impactful, positive experience. Summer is a truly gifted instructor. Highly recommend!!!!!!

Izzy S.

Yelp
I'm so happy I found this place! Great location, friendly staff, clean and gorgeous facilities, great music, and the overall "vibe" and nature of the classes is way less intimidating than solidcore. I will be coming back!

Isabella A.

Yelp
I took the Abs/Arms/Ass class recently and was so pleasantly surprised by the pace and attention to body movement in the class! I do not like fast HIIT-style pilates and I've heard that NYP was really hard so I was expecting it to be fast and slightly uncoordinated. I was surprised to see more traditional pilates influence in this slower, yet considered and still hard(!), class structure. would definitely recommend if you like a slower Pilates class where you can focus on really engaging and doing it right!
google avatar

Pants W.

Yelp
I went there for a group class with Taylor and it was fabulous! I haven't done Pilates in a few years, and I'm primarily a runner trying to leverage Pilates to strengthen my core and improve my body coordination. I didn't have much expectations for my first class but everything went very well: 1. Booking online was easy 2. When I texted w questions, I always got quick responses. 3. Checking in was smooth 4. The place was nice and clean, space utilization was smart, every person can store their belongings in a bin, not messy at all. 5. The instructor was on time. 6. Everyone in the class was nice and just minded their own business. 7. The instructor provided modifications for every movement. 8. The atmosphere was great. Slightly dark so I could focus on just myself and not anyone or anything else. No mirrors, I like it, no visual distractions. 9. Music was not too loud!! I can't emphasize how much I appreciate this!!!

Yelp
I took 3 classes in 3 days and absolutely love the classes! I've taken all different teachers- Anna, Anna, and Nicole in Flatiron. The classes are challenging but flexible for different levels of experience. The actual studios are beautiful and calming. The class goes by so quickly. I'll definitely be back soon!!

Laurie W.

Yelp
I have been coming to NYP - West Village for about 1.5 years now and really enjoyed my first few months of classes. The classes are easy to follow along if it's your first time. There is also great diversity in the clients who attend, which made me feel comfortable. Also, it smells really nice inside the studio. However, recently the instructors who teach the morning classes started using the microphones and oh my god there goes the relaxing environment. It's 7am, why are the instructors yelling into a microphone? The classes aren't always full, so there is no need to use them. Even when the class is full, you can hear the instructors perfectly fine without a microphone. I truly don't get it, but it sounds like I'm at a concert when it's literally just Pilates. I am going to use up my last remaining classes and go somewhere else because the incredibly loud volume really takes away from the relaxing atmosphere. I have requested the volume to be turned down, and she said she did but there was no difference. Whenever I go to Renata's or Anna's classes in the evening, they never use the microphone and it is so lovely and relaxing.

Yelp
Just started going here but now I can't stop! My favorite place I've tried so far, the instructors are so nice and it always ends up being a great workout'

Yelp
Had an amazing morning class with Luisa! The studio is very clean, the atmosphere very calming, and everyone working there are all super friendly. The class was a perfect way to start my day!
google avatar

Faviola S.

Yelp
I took my first Pilates class with Nicole H at the Flatiron location and she was so helpful! She took the time to walk me through the reformer and had an amazing first class. I can't wait to be back!
google avatar

Davinia P.

Yelp
I just did my first ever New York Pilates class with Renata! I was so impressed and I feel amazing after and my body feels super strong and elongated. I will be back
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Had my first class with Maria on Saturday AM! Was so good and a good mix of classical and more modern take on Pilates will be back again!

Kelly B.

Yelp
This was my first Pilates reformer class. the staff was very welcoming and the studio wasn't intimidating like other studios in NYC can be. I highly recommend and can't wait for my next class!
google avatar

Mary E.

Yelp
Took a class at the flat iron location with Monika and I am hooked. I've been to a few studios throughout the city and this was not only the nicest studio set up but also the best workout and pace. Never felt rushed or confused. Just amazing. Obsessed.

Jilly S.

Yelp
Took the arms abs ass class with Kat and absolutely loved it!! Super beautiful and uplifting environment, and the class was the perfect balance of challenging and fun. Left the class studio already looking forward to going back!

Anna M.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Pilates and I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience! I loved the instructor (Kat) and the studio space. It was perfectly challenging with flexibility to make the exercises a little easier or a little harder. I'm so excited to return!!!

Cara S.

Yelp
Took a class here for the first time with Nikki and it was great! The class is slow-paced so it makes it easier to understand how to position your body as a beginner. I also like the ambience of the studio the lights are dimmed and pink!

MaryKate S.

Yelp
My first time walking into NYP - WV, I was greeted with a smile and the warmest welcome. Having never been to NYP before, the staff kindly gave me a tour of facilities and said they would let the instructor know it was my first time not only at NYP, but on a reformer. Renata, the instructor, came over to me before class began and explained everything in detail, and in doing so both assured me and empowered me that class would be great. You could not ask for more from an instructor. The workout was amazing, time flew by, and with the class schedules, it's extraordinarily convenient. Looking forward to my continued time at NYP!
google avatar

Supriya D.

Yelp
As someone who gets the worst anxiety when it comes to group fitness classes I cannot emphasize how incredible my first experience here was yesterday! The space is clean, chic and enjoyable to be in. All of the staff from the reception to the instructors are kind, patient and courteous answering all my questions very knowledgeably. The class itself was a wonderful workout. The time flew by and I felt challenged and empowered. I love that the class is for all levels but the instructors can modify it based off how much you are looking to do. Renata was my instructor and she was great! I cannot wait to take my next class at NY Pilates and will very likely end up getting some sort of membership!
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
This place has gone SO downhill. I used to be an unlimited member in their old location on West 3rd street pre-covid. Loved the instructors in 2019 and earlier and always had a challenging workout. Unfortunately the quality of talent at NYP is hit or miss, which combined with the shortened 45-min classes (they used to be 55 min), increased class size (I think double what it used to be) and near-predatory cancellation policy ($45 cancellation fee for a class I paid $33 for???) means I will not be returning. Plenty of other great pilates studios in the area like Good Day Pilates. The instructor Piera was good and I would return to her class, but still feel that 45 min is too short. Also took a class with Courtney which was way too slow, too much time on transitions / stopping and starting. I barely broke a sweat.
google avatar

Kaitlyn B.

Yelp
My favorite weekend activity includes going to west village and taking a class here. Whether you're upstairs or downstairs the studio vibe is dark and gets you in your feels. I love this place so much.

Jake K.

Yelp
Tabytha runs such a fun class! Will definitely be back. The studio is great and clean and staff is all so kind!!

Maeve B.

Yelp
Great class! Highly recommend for a solid core workout especially. Tabytha's class was amazing as well

Rachel O.

Yelp
A complete body workout and first-timer friendly. I took my first class with Kat at the Flatiron studio and totally recommend. The studio is beautiful and really spacious / v welcoming. I have never done reformer Pilates and am not very fit but the trainer offered plenty of modulations and was very encouraging. Will definitely be back.

Deirdre L.

Yelp
There are several good instructors and class equipment, but watch out for the constant class instructor changes. Make sure you are indifferent to who's class you are taking since the company changes it and rarely informs you in advance. Also, be aware that they strictly enforce all the fees for you if you need to change your class time or cancel within the policy hours.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
The best Pilates studio in the city hands down! The vibes are immaculate - the studio is absolutely gorgeous and they turn the lights purple / pink sometimes and it is just so peaceful. A really great toning workout and the instructors are all amazing. Rebekah and Marieva are some of my favorite instructors! Oh and they also make some pretty cool merch.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Had an amazing first class with Anna! Being new to reformer Pilates I was a little nervous but she made sure to go around and help anyone who needed it. Such a fun and challenging class and definitely will be back!

Yelp
Whenever I'm in NYC, I always attend at least one workout at NYP. The studios are so beautiful/edgy/cool. This was my first time at the West Village local. I typically go to SoHo. I took an arms/abs/ass class from Gabby. I appreciated her knowledge of anatomy and how each exercise targeted a certain group of muscles. She was sweet and had a great voice. The classes are only 45 minutes - good for those in a rush - short for those who like a fuller workout. The programming is pretty contemporary. I typically go classical Pilates so I'm always a little sad when we don't hit the fundamentals like footwork. I was surprised when Gabby had us do a shot "jumping" series on our sides without a jumpboard. We jumped using the foot bar as the "board." Risky move not knowing what everyone's capabilities are in a group setting. You can barely get away with it on the Reformers they have at NYP because the foot bar is thicker but don't try this at home. :) Loved my session. Bought a T-shirt. Can't wait to go back.

Madison M.

Yelp
I'm new to Pilates and had a great experience at this location and the flatiron studio. My instructor was super helpful, checking in on me during the class and also repeating the instructions several times because she knew I had not done reformer Pilates before. The studio space is beautiful and welcoming. I was a little nervous but it was not intimidating, and the instructor offered suggested modifications to make the exercises harder or easier depending on what you wanted, which I appreciated. The changing rooms, bathrooms, and studio space are all very clean.

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Did my first class here with Anna and it was amazing!! Challenging in the best way. Studio is clean & good vibes. Def coming back :)

Sofia O.

Yelp
Had an amazing intro class to Pilates with Anna at this studio! Very clean studio and everyone is so friendly - can't wait to keep coming back!!

Paulina J.

Yelp
I love coming here early morning for the 45 mins Pilates class, the location is great, always clean and everyone is always super sweet. Taylor the instructor I had today was amazing. definitely need to book your classes with New York pilates!!
google avatar

Ann E.

Yelp
Heran is an absolute gem!! Not only does she teach a killer burnout, but her way of teaching keeps you motivated and going throughout her class. If you're looking for a more challenging abs and core stability workout, with still lots of ass and arms, Burnout is also for you. Whoever the teacher, the class alternate between exercises with generally some sort of planking. Finally, if you haven't been to any of the studios, the look and feel of each space is meticulous, from the curated music to the digitally managed lighting.

Yelp
New York Pilates is definitely one of those special classes where you get hooked easily. For me, I started truly enjoying exercising consistently for the first time in my life. The studio is super clean and beautiful. The instructors are really kind and give you modifications for challenges or to adjust for injury. The people at the front desk are really welcoming and kind. Even the details like the candles they use, and the products available to freshen up in the bathroom are lovely! I recommend this class to all my friends, and definitely urge everybody to give it a try! Even my boyfriend loves taking classes with me now and incorporates it with his long distance running to help keep his body strong and flexible.
