Minutes from south Fremont, AIM’s Sunday market is known for its diverse mix of growers and prepared foods. The Agricultural Institute of Marin’s stewardship and regular features in regional listings keep it a reliable nearby option.

Nice place to visit on a Sunday. Lots of grocery options at cheaper price compared to the markets. You get to try out samples of a lot of items for free.

Enjoyed this FM with fruit vegetables and eating places. Lots of organic shops

Garden Fresh Vegetables and Fruits. Rain or shine the market is on.

Google
Not too exiting in terms of choices. I was able to get some tomatoes and cucumbers at the price almost three times more compared to Irvingtons market. One amazing thing is I got French sorrel. If you don’t know it is and how it tastes, I feel sorry for you. Try.

Google
This is a vibrant and bustling market. The produce is fresh and affordable, and the fruit stands generously offer samples. There are also plenty of organic options to choose from. I always leave with my bags full.

Fruits and vegetables last 2 weeks in the fridge. After buying it with this farmer's market they're very fresh. That's the difference between buying at the farmers market and at a grocery store grocery store. Most likely they were picked couple of weeks ago. These guys that sell at the Farmers market. They pick it the day before the night before. I don't know but stuff just lasts a lot longer. Prices are great too. You know it's local

Google
Good selection and atmosphere! Easy place to park! It is fun to visit the various vendors and see their offerings! They even have a live performer within the market! On a nice sunny morning , it is a great way to enjoy a good walking exercise —. Might even get some juce veggies at the same tune! 😀

I recently visited a local farmers market and had the unfortunate experience of dealing with one particular seller who was exceptionally rude. His lack of basic courtesy was startling, as he treated every customer with disdain and impatience. It’s baffling why anyone would choose to buy from him when there are so many other sellers who offer not only high-quality products but also friendly and respectful service. His attitude was a major disappointment, and I’d recommend avoiding his stall unless a significant change in demeanor occurs. The market should be a pleasant experience for everyone, and his behavior certainly detracted from that.

Yelp
Sunday morning farmers market with so many selections. All the vendors offer very fresh produce, pastries and specialty items like kettle corn, chai tea, and tamales. It's one of my favorite things to do when I'm in the area. Vendors are happy to give out samples On today's visit we gathered ingredients for hot pot including fresh mushrooms and veggies. We also tried the tamales and a London fog latte. Wonderful treat and wonderful experience. Casual. Good service. Plenty of parking. Please come and create your own experience.

Yelp
This is the only farmers market to check out small business vendors of bakeries, Dim Sum, Afghan flatbreads, Filipino food, and Mexican food trucks. You can smell Filipino BBQ and Kettlepop's popcorn every Sunday morning. I admit I'm not here to be vegan since I have a sweet tooth for these favorite vendors to purchase from: La Kalidad- Filipino pastries with a flair of Californian ingredients Mamahouse Bakeshop- Kouign Amanns and unique cookies Yeso- fresh coconut pudding from Hayward. Love their Mango and Purple Yam flavors Baked- mochi muffins baked from Union City The produce is more expensive than grocery stores, when it's almost the same quality. I only prefer to come here for summer fruits like yellow watermelon, peaches, and nectarines. The vendors are friendly and offer samples of fruits before purchase. It's smaller than Irvington's in Fremont, but it has better takeout food. Parking and traffic get hectic when coming from Mowry Ave. More parking is available near 24 Hour Fitness and Jack's Bar and Grill.

Yelp
I love this farmers market! I live in Union City and the farmers market there is very limited on their selection of fruits, veggies, and hot foods. This one has tons of options for hot foods, pastries/ breads, and fruits and veggies :) Theres also a really good coffee vendor! Everyone is super friendly and helpful. And theres lots of free samples. The only con is that there isn't a lot of shade, so I'll be bringing a hat next time. I'll be stopping by weekly for sure!

Yelp
My wife told me and showed me (video) of her visits to this market with her mom in the summer of 2019. It was good timing because the world slowed down for four years. We've been traveling the past two years and visited this market today. The vegetables are excellent and include varieties usually seen only in select specialty Asian markets. Some of the fruit tasting convinced us to skip a purchase, others to buy. The food stalls are very good and offer inexpensive options like the bbq pork sticks. There's plenty of vendors and parking.

Yelp
I'm not a weekend farmer's market hound, searching or traveling to different farmer's markets around the bay. I will occasionally check one out, and I've checked out enough of them that I know what I like when it comes to setting up a farmer's market. Pros: -actual farmers out here from multiple agricultural counties, dishing out their specialties for the season. -the majority, if not all farmer's stands out here are organic, so no big agricultural giants out here. -plenty of parking, it is in a dead part of a defunct mall parking lot. -good energy, lots of people attend. Good commerce energy. -the day I went there were 2-3 stands of local bakeries selling pastries. I wasn't in the market for that, that particular day, but it did look interesting. Cons: -even though the pricing does seem a bit less expensive than say conventional grocery shopping, it is not by much. And lots of things they give price breaks only if you get it by the quantity. I can't really use 5+ lbs of cherries or tomatoes, I simply can't use them fast enough for me to be able to utilize it. -zero shade because it is basically a parking lot. I seem to like farmer's markets that have trees and benches, just makes it more relaxing for me. -not terribly large, basically 2 rows of stands where you can make a complete circle in a couple of minutes. And most vendors seemed more the same than different, which makes comparing a bit tougher. -outside of the pastry stands, there was only 1 place doing prepared food, a lone taco truck. I can get that any day of the week, so didn't bother. Most other farmer's markets have several prepared food options these days. But I will be back as the produce I did get here was pretty damn good. Got some Asian water spinach, a monster bunch for $5, some seasonal cherries that had great cherry flavor and some monster ripe tomatoes that were so heavy from having more flesh than juicy seeds. Really made a difference in my dishes for that week, and to that I'll drop an extra star. *clang*

Yelp
Not my local market, but the only one open on a Sunday around here when I miss mine. Their early summer selection was abundant and lots of choices in stone fruit and classic market veg (kale, cabbage, etc). It's a bit crowded, but manageable with live music and a couple of bbq food stalls and tacos. Park up the hill by the theater (the market moved down closer to mall entrance) for an easier time. Many vendors take cards or square/apple/google pay.

Yelp
In an area with little outdoor local interest the Newark Farmers Market is great. Please try the Kouigh-Amann, nice father and daughter team selling treats mom and daughter make at home as well as Dre Jams & Jellies!! Try the cherry jam and the apple strawberry, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
This farmers market on the parking lot of Newpark Mall has several produce stands, baked goods, dessets and as well as other small businesses. A wide variety of baked goods, desserts, BBQ, snacks, and popcorn. The Market is open on Sundays. They moved the location closer to Mowry Avenue making it more visible for customers. There is ample parking as the mall is fairly empty. On a sunny day there was a crowd of shoppers as well as families. It's a nice to shop if you are looking for a farmers market.

Yelp
Love this Newark farmer market, is definitely good quality and clean! The vendors are so good especially they have Filipino grill pork and chicken legs, definitely can't escape from the yummy bbq smell! Service is great, love the Asian vegetable stalls, so fresh and good deal for organic pea sprout!
google avatar

Lyn M.

Yelp
It basically caters to Indian culture! Prices are ridiculous ! Every single fruit that was available for sampling and said super sweet, sweet and delicious was not at all the case
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
A little pricey, but great produce. First time going was last week, but we plan on going every Sunday, even when it rains.
google avatar

Sahar K.

Yelp
We buy produce from here every Sunday. Most of the year it is great. You can buy seasonal fruits and vegetables at reasonable price. I appreciate having this place nearby, otherwise the fruits and veg from the grocery in Bay Area is expensive and tasteless.

R S.

Yelp
For the Filipino food stall! Food was so good and service fast. Lines were quick to form and served.

Yelp
A little farmers market with a bunch of produce stands, as well as other small businesses. A wide variety of baked goods, desserts, BBQ, snacks, and more.

Yelp
Plethora of vegetables at this market. Seasonal offerings but seems like baby bok choy, spinach, carrots, onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes/yams, purple cabbage, different color cauliflowers, broccoli, leeks, lemongrass, and radishes are usually available for the few different months I visited. There's a particular E&H organic mushrooms stand that has very earthy (ofc!) 'shrooms including shitake, oyster, wood ears, and other kinds. Can be pricey per lb (I saw $10 / $15 per pound) but there's different boxes where he offers $5 or $10 bags if you can't decide or not too picky. There are about 3 fruit stands, lots of oranges and apples along with other seasonal fruits. Most of them cut halves so you know what it looks like inside if you're not sure on the varieties or juiciness. Not much for food - one popcorn stand, one macaron, one for meat & eggs, another for steamed bao/dumplings, raw honey and soap, and sadly no bakeries. Most veggies are $3 a bunch/pound but if you arrive half hour before closing time, that's prime time for bagged bargains at $5 and those bags usually weigh around 3 lbs or even more. It's mostly picked over at that point so don't expect those to sit for more than 3 days but still a steal for organics. Almost all vendors also have clear plastic bags to bag your items, but be sure to bring a sturdy one to bag all the different varieties!

Yelp
This is a very spacious farmers market with lots of parking and space to walk around compared to the Irvington Farmers Market. I love that the produce here is fresh and that the vendors are friendly. Cash is preferred but most vendors here accept credit cards too. Sometimes there are also vendors that sell freshly cooked food. It's a good time for everyone. Lastly, can someone tell me if it's common practice in farmers markets to go up to a stall and taste berries straight from the display? I was appalled when I saw a lady taste berries from vendor to vendor as if they were free for all (and no, these were not under the "sample" batch) lol.
google avatar

Ninfa I.

Yelp
I actually had fun walking around hunting for delicious fruits. Prices & taste varies, so choose wisely. My favorite part was the tasting . What I dislike about this place are the sellers who are rude, which I will definitely will not come back to their booth. I try to support our kababayan but they're the ones are rude. Specially Ate in Ian's BBQ, I only ask a simple question and your face naka simangot agad. And si Lola, sorry po I will not be coming back to your booth next week.

Yelp
Holistic review over the past 2 years, probably has the most amount of farm and food stands for this area. Overall not quite as good as some of the San Jose/Southbay Farmer Markets like the ones in Los Gatos and Sunnyvale. Parking is at Newark Mall so you'll have plenty of spots to park pretty close to the market, it also makes getting in and out a lot easier than some of the other places since you have a lot of different options for paths to take. There are two porta potties on site and an ATM if you forget your cash. The great thing is there are lots of asian fruits and vegetables here which we didn't see a lot of at the other markets. We recently got some really good Bok Choy, much fresher than ones we find at Lion or 168. Other than the veggies and fruits which can be much higher quality than grocery stores we come to browse some of the meat and food vendors occasionally.

Yelp
I remember how much I miss the summer when I visit farmer's market in the winter. Even though winter market has way fewer vendors, this one is still one of the biggest markets in the area. In the winter, there are 3-5 vegetables vendors and 2-4 fruit vendors (one for apple/pear, others for oranges/persimmons). There are also mushroom, bread/pastiries and honey Can't wait until spring when all the vendors come back with all the variety!

Yelp
Loved it! We are visiting from Bowling Green, Kentucky; and being able to see such a fresh collection of fruits and vegetables was wonderful. There was also music (guitarist) who kept the ambience engaging. My toddler could not stop eating the plums kept for sampling..

Yelp
Newpark Farmer's Market is one of my top 3 favorite Bay Area Farmer's Market's. They have such a good variety. And I love seeing the continuity of some of the vendors. They have breads, pies, fruits, vegetables, eggs. I always hit up the Apple cider guy and Kettle Korn. They're year round too, which is great. This Farmer's Market is a must see. Also, it's not too crowded and annoying like I hear some Farmer's Market's get.

Yelp
It's nice having a farmers market so close to us to go to on Sundays. There seem to be many more stands this past Sunday as compared to other Sundays I've gone. Some of my favorite fruit stands include: Rodriguez farm. If you go towards the later afternoon they seem to put everything in a bag and all in each bag is $5. This past Sunday they had peaches, nectarines, cherries, mandarin cuties, oranges, and even tomatoes in a bag for $5 each. I love all the veggies stands and strawberries stands and kettle popcorn is one of my kids favorite! Some stands now let you pick your own just sanitizer first before you pick. Other stands let you point which one you want and they will bag for you. Make sure you check it out and support your local farmers. The stands I bought from they all took credit cards too.

Yelp
Lots of parking. It wasn't huge but had a good selection of fresh fruits and veggies. Corn on a stick - I was expecting roasted corn based on the photo I saw on yelp, but it was just steamed corn. Not bad, not great either.
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Newark Farmers Market isn't at the front of Newpark Mall@Macy's anymores. it's at the rear near Burlington, JC Penny's. F.M. looks more organized in compacted space. vendors: missing: -charle's corn Peg & Lee's -319 coffee rotissierie chicken -mamahouse bakeshop -sophia bakes -upper crust bakery -hummus guy -bolani -niles pie -kettlepop notes: -lots more parking available in this area. no conflict with patrons to Newpark Mall

Yelp
I am regular to Newark Farmers Market. However with the recent COVID19 it is little un-safe to go visit personally. I found out on-line that farmers have apparently tied-up with avocadonext app and they are now selling online. I liked the idea of ordering online and helping out farmers at this time of need. I ordered last week and I got my order delivered on Sunday morning just like I would go and I pick-up myself at the market. I ordered fruits from J&J Ramos and I got fresh fruits delivered. They even sent me a $5 off coupon. In case anyone who like to order can use it as well.

Yelp
So, mostly my review is on the MAMAHOUSE BAKESHOP! This is one of the "shares" that I hesitate on. Their bakery items are so incredibly good... Sharing is not the first thing that comes to my mind (I can barely wait to get back to my truck to start chomping on one of their goodies). My first purchase was their morning bun. An organic pastry filled with delicious flavors of cardamom and orange. I was not happy with myself when I only bought one. (Lesson learned, always 2 from now on... 2!) Next trip, after requesting 2 morning buns, I eyed a slice of their Brown Butter Tea Cakes! Pretty orange color with icing. I can hang with that! Walked to my truck (theme here? ;0) and was blown away by the flavor of the Tea Cake! Moist, flavorful, not too sweet... DELICIOUS! I'll let the purveyors let you in on the secret ingredients! So, alas... the Farmers Market has a GREAT selection of veggies, hummus, olives, seafood and the like... Just don't miss the MAMAHOUSE BAKERY! But leave me a few items will yuh?

Yelp
Newark Farmers Market is located at NewPark Mall in Newark on Sundays. It was in the midst of a heatwave when I went to check out the Farmers Market. It used to be in the Sears/Macy's parking lot. It has now moved to the Burlington/JC Penney parking lot. Lots of fruit/vegetables stands as well as food stands/trucks are there. It seemed smaller as I made a lap around quickly (maybe it was the heat which made me move faster than usual). I'll be back to browse/shop for fresh produce.
google avatar

Veronica A.

Yelp
Loved it, loved it! Got tons of fresh veggies! Prices aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. Lots of parking. They have tons of samples - take at your own risk because some people are nasty. I really enjoyed my corn on a stick!
google avatar

Yvette F.

Yelp
Well they were closing shortly. A few, stands were practically giving the persimmons away. It was a nice quick walk around. What I did find pretty disgusting!!!! They give free samples and the IDIITS just throw the orange peels etc. right in front of the foid stand! An edlerly lady and toddler almost fell on them. Lazy Ass People get a grip.
google avatar

Yelp
I frequent every 2 - 3 weeks for veggies and fruits that I cannot find from other groceries. This is my go-to farmer's market, and I can find some snacks or food to chow down. Take a stroll around farmer's market, to compare the quality and prices they sell. Normal prices are $ 3 - $4 per pound. But you can check that few veggies and foods that are in season are $1.50 per pound. Little cheaper than grocery prices. It's a deal, you won't find anywhere else. Beware of the crowds and next to you. Sometimes the customers are unaware of what they are doing. Follow the signs posted to let the farmer's market operate in that area. The new normal for all food producers, restaurants and vendors is they have to handle their goods, weigh it for you and bag it for you. It's a way not to spread Covid19 virus. You can talk or ask briefly. Be sure to buy what you need, shop quickly and go to your car.
google avatar

Madeline N.

Yelp
My local farmer's market! A great selection of mostly produce with friendly folks and, in today's age, excellent social distancing. Farmers include folks who sell: Honey Bread Bolani Rotisserie chicken Citrus Nuts Vegetables, including delights like bok choy and okra Eggs Organic meat Fruit Kettle corn Mushrooms Easy parking, most stalls take credit cards (a few only take cash but there's usually an ATM brought in) and everyone is really patient and standing on their little X or dot 6 ft from each other.
google avatar

Amy E.

Yelp
Selection is decent but seems a little more limited than other area farmers markets. I should note I'm writing this during a pandemic so that may be a big factor that is not their fault Pluses are, that is very spacious and easy to social distance and still browse the stands. Also they have fun family activites some weeks or at least they did pre shelter In place. Vendors seem friendly not too pushy. I have gone a couple times now and gotten some pretty good deals. Although after coming home and thinking about it, I did feel I overpaid at one stand. Still deciding if I want to make this or the union city market my standard farmers market.
google avatar

Gabby R.

Yelp
I've lived in the area for so long and I finally made it out to the farmer's market. Compared to the other markets I've been to, I really like this one. Everything was spaced out, and there were clear markers for lines at each booth. Because this market is in the parking lot of a mall, parking is a breeze. I didn't have cash on me which limited which vendors I could buy from but I was pleasantly surprised that I could still get all my veggies and pay with card. I also stopped by the meat stand and mushroom stand. I wish they had more fruit variety but, to be frank, the fruit I was looking for isn't in season yet so I can't be too picky. I definitely need to come back to check other specialty produce (veggies that are staple in Filipino dishes) that my family said this market has.
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
Located in the Newpark Mall's parking lot, has a decent selection of booths to browse through. Come here only if you want fresh fruits and veggies. They don't have many other non-food booths like you see at other farmers markets.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
I have not been disappointed in this farmers market. They have Kettle Pop, Roadside Rotisserie and great produce! You can find everything here and and they are very helpful. They are especially proactive during the safe distancing going on. Be supportive and stay local and be safe.
google avatar

Joan M.

Yelp
Being in this sheltered in place order this is a place I look forward going to on Sundays. They have a nice selection of fruits and veggies for a gold price. You can guarantee they are in season and fresh and at their peak of ripeness. Never disappoints. I like to buy my organic strawberries here along with other selection of fresh veggies. Parking is plenty as well, they are more spread out so not too crowded either. They have some activities for Kids and families at times.
google avatar

Carolen M.

Yelp
The Newark Farmers Market is the place to be on Sunday. I feel like all of the Tri-City folks are here. There are plenty of stalls for your veggies and fruit. Today it was persimmons and grapes galore. $1 per pound! It was crazy! You still get your staples like Kettlecorn, food, baked goods, and music playing as well. It is a great alternative to getting your fruits and veggies and it's a nice saunter around.
google avatar

P G.

Yelp
Prices are so so. Went to buy some Serrano peppers and they were 3 bucks a pound. Regular supermarket is $1.49. The shelter in place stuff in kind of a pain in that you can't touch any of the fruits or vegetables to determine freshness to see if they are bruised or over ripe which you can do in any other regular grocery store. The mask thing is way overboard one size fits all dictated by the county. If I'm out doors 50 or 100 feet from any stand, then why the patrol boy nagging to have the mask on? Nothing like a California state of mind.
google avatar

Destynnie T.

Yelp
This is a great place to pick up fresh fruits and veggies on a Sunday morning! They have a large variety of Asian vegetables, sweet fruit, and nuts for you to sample and buy. With almost every vendor giving out free fruit samples, you can get full off of samples haha. Sounds like a good spot for breakfast to me! Check out Charlies corn for some grilled corn and baked potatoes if you're craving a light snack. I loved the corn on a stick, but I have yet to try the baked potato - $7 for a loaded potato seems a little pricy to me. Many people have also recommended trying the hummus from the hummus vendor. I'm not a huge fan of hummus, but if you're into hummus, it's definitely worth a try. I like the environment at this farmers market a lot more than the environment at Irvington's farmers market. Irvington's farmer market is overrun with rude Indians and Asians which makes this market seem classier in comparison.
google avatar

Yvonne W.

Yelp
I love this place!! It's so spacious! Lots of great fruit and veggie options. They have a tent with amazing pies. But I needed to stay focused on healthy options so I went right past the pie tent. Go see T at the tent with the flat bread and spreads. He's pretty awesome. Let me know if you need help on picking out the best okra. I'm from GA and one thing I've learned since being in Cali is people don't really understand the nuances of good okra ;)
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
Went to the Newark Farmers' Market the a couple Sundays ago. They had giant red onions .75/lb. Cherries $4/lb, giant broccoli 2 for $3. The best prices for apricots & nectarines was at one farmer's stand $1/lb. I wish I bought some. New for me Indian spinach - I got a $1 worth, you can stir-fry with it or put in soup. Everyone was buying it so I had to try it. I might get it again. Bring your own bags because stuff gets heavy when you buy lots of stuff!

Gayathri S.

Yelp
The farmers market location has moved to the parking lots of AMC movies at the end of Newpark Mall. I believe this happened around December. Since then, there are barely any stalls and the quality of the produce has gone down significantly. :(
google avatar

Megha R.

Yelp
Veggies are fresh. Seasonal and organic options. There are many stalls and not very crowded. Lots of fruit options and there is a berry stall as well. Best farmers market in east bay. Organic veggies are less expensive to Whole Foods or other organic stores.
google avatar

Cherry B.

Yelp
Love this market! They have a huge variety of locally grown produce including fresh fruits, nuts, greens and veggies. I find the organic produce cheaper & better quality than WF & other stores. Fruits - The fruits are really fresh and much cheaper than the supermarkets Veggies - Tons of asian vegetables that are freshly picked Nuts - Get the fresh walnuts.. you won't go back to the packaged ones again There are also other cool stalls like popcorn, hummus, bakery, honey, flowers etc. Make it a sunday morning routine and support the CSA!
google avatar

Angie L.

Yelp
The produce was very fresh, but too many people with kids running around and squashed veggies on the ground, so you need to be careful where you step. It's probably better to come earlier when there aren't as many people. Also, some stalls didn't have pricing, and vendors were busy helping other customers, so you need to have some patience. Not enough food stalls. I only saw 1 corn on cob/ baked potato stall, 1 kettle corn stall, 1 bread stall, and 1 pita chips stall. I was expecting lots of cooked food to eat here. I bought a lot of fresh fruit, veggies, kettle corn, and pita chips. Pretty good haul.
google avatar

Raquel N.

Yelp
I love the fresh fruits and vegetables here. Peaches smell like peaches, plums and cherries are nice and juicy. The green veggies are amazing!
google avatar

Janet D.

Yelp
Pretty large farmers market for the Newark Area. I was surprised come early as the parking and foot traffic can be brutal. The Corn dude that sells fresh roasted corn and baked potatoes was amazing. I am a fan. Also Hummus Heaven with their plentiful samples was LEGIT. I would definitely by the asian veggies but other fruits and veggies were a bit more expensive than buying at your local grocery store or better yet Sprouts. Lots of vendors selling the same items so sample before you purchase, just remember to come back to the right place. The cherries, last week, were $5 a pound that's pretty expensive... and they weren't all that sweet.

Yelp
What a lovely morning to stroll the Newark Farmer's Market today! The sun was out though there was a slight chill but I had my sweater handy. I heard about this farmer's market from the sweet Anna D. who told me about the carrot cake ladies via numerous pm flying back and forth. I knew I had to drive up and told her I'd be there between 9Am-10AM. The farmer's market is located in the back parking lot of the mall on the west side of the freeway off of Mowry. It's not very big but there is a fairly good variety of product to choose from. Let's just start with the ladies who are responsible for THE carrot cake. Deanie & Happi Campbell are the delightful ladies behind this home grown business. Don't let the simple set up fool you ~ Deanie had her own bakery business in Baltimore, Maryland that grew from just her in the kitchen to over 150 employees and becoming a $10 million dollar company in 8 years! You can read more about Deanie & Happi on their website "The Tao of Cake" : http://www.thetaoofcake.com/index.html Yes, I did purchase a whole cake folks and just ate a slice of heaven...soft as a cloud but full of flavor with the grated carrots and sweet chunks of pineapple crowned with a moist cream cheese frosting with royal purple points! Note - The Carrot Cake/Stone Soup ladies (Deannie and Happi) have their carrot cake and fab stone soup available at the Newark Farmers Market and online only. You might want to get in the car and meet these wonderful ladies! They serve samples of the cake and soup! As Noelle and I were planning our next stop, someone came up from behind me asking if I was from Yelp? I turned around to see sweet Anna D. and said "yup!" Noelle, Anna and I spent the rest of the morning stopping and shopping and eating our way around. There are plenty of vendors from whom you can purchase seafood, fresh vegetables, ready made food (Filipino, Indian, Mexican) and snacks. Noelle, Anna and I stopped at the Bolani East & West Afghan Food stall where we sampled spinach stuffed naan topped with various sauces. The first of many was really delicious - cilantro pesto, white creamy garlic and sweet jalapeno, all three on top of the spinach stuffed naan! Several sauces later, we were ready for the hummus which was really good too. I took home the sweet jalapeno sauce. This is a family owned business and you can find them at the Santana Row Farmer's Market too (closer to home for me!). I purchased the sweetest tasting and large strawberries from the Rodriguez Farm folks who were smart enough to have two stalls so you can't miss them! I got three green baskets for $8 and it was so worth it. I'm making strawberry shortcake for tonight's dessert the old fashion way ~ biscuits and whipped cream! Good food, good company ~ a nice sunny day at the farmer's market...

I like the fact that this market has a little bit of everything! Prices are very reasonable because there are so many vendors so you have more competition. I found some very yummy pluots, plums, organic strawberries and tamales. What's great about some of the vendors is that there is a self-serve sampling area. I tried not to think about swine flu when I grabbed a sliver of plum with the tongs. I silently hoped that other people used tongs and not a grubby hand. The tamales are $2 a pop and very worth it! I didn't catch the vendor's name, but there was only one tamale guy there when I went. Be sure to get the green sauce that comes with it. Their vegetarian option is tasty too! I think you get 2 for $2, at least that was the case with me. You can also find jewelry, dips, bread, coffee and flowers. There's just something satisfying about buying direct from the growers. Having it open until 1:00 is so nice. The farmer's market that I usually go to closes at noon and...I dunno...noon just seems too darn early to close on a weekend!
