This place is so much fun! We hosting a wedding welcome event in the event space which has Bocce, shuffleboard, a mini putting green, mini basketball, and corn hole (and booked the pickleball courts too, for good measure). Our guests had a great time! We were able to set-up prepaid drink tickets and bring in outside food for catering. There was even live music in the main bar area which added a lot of energy to our celebrations. The only issue was the temperature of the event space was not well regulated, especially once people were sweating up a storm on the pickleball courts. If you are hosting an event in the summer, I would think about bringing some fans for additional comfort. Otherwise, we had the greatest time and loved creating new memories at NBPT! The staff and service was wonderful!

Decent beer with a nice outside area that is uncovered. Dog friendly inside and outside. If there is a band there's a chance that there is a cover. The day we came the cover was $10/ person. If a band is playing it will be loud inside so don't go expecting to have a nice conversation with your group unless you sit outside. Birdie pilsner is pretty good if not a tad sweet and their Newburyport apa is definitely old school with some crystal malt sweetness but some aggressive hopping so it drinks like an old school lagunitas or stone beer from the early 00's. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Google
Great brewery in Newburyport! Came here for a quick drink and found a wide open area to be outside, rooms with games, and a DJ playing beats through the afternoon. Terrific place to hang out in the summer, with friends and family. Would definitely recommend !

Google
Lovely outdoor space with food, live music, and good beer on tap. One complaint - I bought some beer to take home and saw they were selling a “hop variety” mix pack which seemed like a good deal. The other canned beers in their cooler were canned within the last few weeks, but when I got home and opened the mix pack, I came to realize all the beers in the pack were from October 2019 (it’s September 2020.) I tried one and it was gross. So basically - don’t buy the mix pack, they’re using it to hide super old beer. As long as you avoid that it’s a lovely place

Google
This is one of the best places to see live music in the area. But MAN I wish they had beer I could stomach. The beer is just SO bad it basically isn't drinkable. I want it to be, but it is so far and away from anything out there being brewed right now.

John Plotica

Google
I love all their beers. They have a good selection of beers on tap something for every beer drinker. My absolute favorite beer on this visit to the brewery was the Tall Buoy IPA. It had a good hop punch, and a smooth finish. The only reason I gave four stars was because we decided to sit outside and sadly the tables did not have umbrellas which made the beer warm relatively quick.

Google
We booked a pickleball court from 12-2pm on Christmas Eve, showed up just before 12p after a 50 minute drive from Rockport, only to find the doors locked. We tried contacting via email and phone with no answer. Very frustrating that reservations would be allowed and taken if the courts were not open.

Google
It's got a very "locals" vibe which is very cool and chill. Beer is decent, very drinkable! They allow pups inside on leash and that makes them top notch for me!!

Carol K.

Yelp
I got a 4 pack of the Greenhead IPA at Costco in Nashua. When I got home and pulled one can off, I realized another can felt soft so I pulled that off too. WTF? The can was popped open, less than half full, and had been put back in the 4-can-ring, and back on the shipping pallet! How is that possible? Where is the QC dept? I did try drinking one of the full cans, and it had a foul, off-putting taste, basically undrinkable. My husband tried another and had the same experience. I took photos, wrote to NBC, sent the code from the can, and got ZERO response. Not even an acknowledgement. So there's no Quality Control dept and no Customer Service dept??! I will never trust this company again and Costco will definitely know.

Yelp
We drive by the Newburyport Brewing Company sign 100x a summer, have tried their beer many times, and have never visited. FINALLY, we made the stop! This is a very cute little brewery with very good beer. They have lots on tap and great service. It is quite small, but they do have seating set up (with some cute picnic tables outside in the summer and even live music!). I tried and loved the blueberry beer and am looking forward to coming back to try some more. My only complaint is the water situation - we were there on a very hot day and the only available water was in a big Gatorade cooler (and it smelled a little funny when it came out into the cup). Just bring your own water bottle, and you will be fine. It's about the beer anyway, right? We can't wait to come back again soon!

Sarah C.

Yelp
This place was really cool! There was an event tonight. They have a variety of beers but unfortunately I'm not a beer driinker but recommend stopping by

Sue D.

Yelp
Super unfriendly bartender, poor service, average beer. Tour microbrews across the country. My lowest rating yet.

Chaz B.

Yelp
Went to see a great band last Sunday and have a few beers. We couldn't hear the band which was a shame. There were too many people just there to hang out near the stage and talk to each other in very loud voices. The amount of kids-I can't even go there. I get it, it is kid friendly but they were everywhere and not being supervised. Those poor kids, do they really want to be in what is basically a bar, on a rare warm Sunday in February? I never would have thought to bring my kids to a place where people are drinking, sorry. The parents don't want their drinking days to end, I guess. One kid was under a table playing with cups, water, and napkins while the parents sat there clueless talking to their friends ignoring their three year old. A newborn was right near the band in his mother's arms while she danced. I couldn't stay and watch the madness so we left I forgot to mention the amount of dogs, oh boy, I love dogs too but really? They should not be in a bar all afternoon. Terrible parenting of kids and dogs. When we were pulling out of the parking lot, some of kids were now in the marshes unsupervised. This is was close to six in a Sunday, getting dark too. I'll stick to adult places, thank you.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Did not eat there, but the beer was good! Local Bon vivant Jason will gladly welcome you to the taproom and add to the list of local celebrities gone rogue

Sara B.

Yelp
Great music vibes and great time!! Ordering food delivery was kinda fun too. We had 5 people and ordered the beers and seltzer all were delicious.

Mark D.

Yelp
Average at best. Uninspiring. With so many other options nearby, if you're not sure, skip it. If you decide to come anyway, don't blame me. Lol

Derek B.

Yelp
Been to Newburyport Brewing Co. almost every time I go to Newburyport - it's a must while in the area. Its a cool little place with a small taproom and an area for live music. People frequent here on game days as well to hang out for a bit. Most of their beers are a hit. I personally like the Green head IPA and the Plum Island Belgian White. I've tried others too like Newburyport Pale Ale, Melt Away Session IPA, and the Martine Lager, but can't say I was the biggest fan.

J N.

Yelp
Well I went here the other weekend to listen to a band. I ended up getting VERY ill from their beer and dirty tap lines! I was SO sick the next day from only 2 beers! Ended up being sick the next two days waiting for my body to finish purging. Also note their bathrooms were disgusting! I'll never go back!

Kendra M.

Yelp
Pros: -Good variety of beer styles on tap -Service was very good. You could tell there were a lot of regulars that the employees knew by name. -Ambiance was fine. They have a space for live music. -Dog friendly Meh: -Beer ranges from so-so to good. It was worth checking out and I'd go again, but the beer isn't worth going out of your way for. We drove 1.5 hours to check out this place and it wasn't worth that far of a trip.

Ed J.

Yelp
Nice spot. Beer is quite good. Service is awful. Stopped going after 4 times over a couple years, servers won't stop chatting with regulars long enough to take your order. Went in with my girlfriend and none of the regulars would offer to slide over to open up two seats together ( this also happened more than once).kept trying because it has a lot of good things going on

Melissa F.

Yelp
What a wonderful little find! We stumbled upon this place while on our way to a sunflower field. Great selection of beers! I enjoyed their blueberry beer as it was perfect on the hot day we visited. We sat outside and enjoyed the band that was playing. They are dog friendly which was huge so needless to say my dog also enjoyed her time spent there!

Shauna L.

Yelp
What a fun and off the beaten path place. Live music was happening on the inside and picnic table and dogs and corn hole on the outside. I personally love the Belgium white and would add a lemon wedge (but asking for fruit in beer at a brewery is frowned upon :-) ) No food only beer. But that's ok. I could hang out there all day long

Barbie P.

Yelp
One of the best breweries i have been to. The ambience, music, and beer everything was on point. Special mention for Kat, she was an amazing server. Highly recommend this place for a good Spring day.

Tom C.

Yelp
The beer is awesome. They don't have any other options than beer which is fine because it's a brewery. However, they lose out on some business this way. It is kind of off the beaten path in an industrial park.

Jerry B.

Yelp
Wonderful outdoor area with live music on some nights. Perfect for people with dogs who don't mind where their dogs relieve themselves or for dog owners that do not care that their dog is barking. Also great for dog owners who just let their dogs roughhouse with other dogs with no respect for anyone else in the area. Quite enjoyable if that fits you!

Allison H.

Yelp
Meh, just okay. Maybe we have been spoiled by the variety of craft beers from the numerous breweries we've visited. We were pretty disappointed to see that a majority of their selections were IPAs. I'm not necessarily a huge IPA person but I'll give them a try. Even the Belgian White and the Pale Ale I couldn't necessarily get excited about. We tried the the Melt Away Session IPA, Plum Island Belgian White, Newburyport Pale Ale and Green Head IPA and they were just okay. We did not try the Maritime Lager or the Tall Buoy IPA. The inside setup is nice and they had live music that was really good but on the loud side. Overall I'm glad we visited but not necessarily for us.

Jeff D.

Yelp
This is a great little spot that we inadvertently visited on a day where they were hosting a craft and music festival. We ended up having some great beers and buying ourselves a few small paintings from a local artist that my wife instantly fell in love with. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Katherine O.

Yelp
This brewery is awesome. The beer is, obviously, the best part. My husband is obsessed with the super hoppy Greenhead, and I love the Belgian White. Thursday through Saturday they have live music from 5-8, as well as Metzys' Taco Truck that takes your orders from inside. The beer is amazing and the tacos are some of the best I have ever had (see my yelp review about Metzy's!). The only complaint I have is that there isn't a lot of seating, and it's getting very popular in there, so you have to go early. Also, families with kids sometimes go, and that takes away from the fun. Overall, super fun and great food and drink!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
O.M.G. This place is a gem! The beer was delicious and we had plenty to choose from, we sat outside and enjoyed a nice sunny day, while listening to live music!!! What else can you ask for? Perfection!

Jessica L.

Yelp
I've been to a variety of breweries on the North Shore and most are pretty underwhelming. The beer here was pretty solid. It's especially fun on a nice day since they have a decent outdoor area and occasionally food (pizza). Definitely a nice pit stop if you're in the area. Townie vibe made for fun people watching.

Molli W.

Yelp
Review went from 5 to 3 stars purely based on the generic flavor of the beers--the two I would suggest trying would be the NBPT Pale Ale or the Melt Away Session. Other than that, the cans are great looking and make a great gift presentation. The Newburyport brewery has a very fun vibe that is definitely an asset to the community--stop by for live music, excellent tours and friendly employees.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Great beer and friendly people! A great place to gather with friends. You'll likely find live music, a dog and some kids running around while the adults enjoy their beer. We make a priority to stop at NBPT brewing whenever we are visiting our Newburyport family. Great local spot!

Brian C.

Yelp
This place makes some excellent beers! I haven't had the chance to stop into their brewery/sample room so this review is based on my own sampling at home or while at some of the bars around the area. I've tried each of their 5 brews and here's what I think... Green Head IPA- My favorite of all 5...Very hoppy and flavorful. Definitely one of my favorite IPAs ever. At 7.1 abv this beer will knock you out quick if you're not careful so sip slowly! Pale Ale- Excellent balance of hops and flavor. My 2nd favorite from NBPT Brew. Has an excellent amber color. Goes down very smoothly. Meltaway Session IPA- An excellent summer time IPA! Whoever came up with these lower alcohol session IPAs is a genius! You can have a few quality beers while enjoying your summer activities and not be completely wasted after. Perfect! This has an excellent flavor while keeping the alcohol low at 4.4 abv. Belgian White- Not one of my favorite styles of beer. It's growing on me though and this is a great offering of this style. Really nice unfiltered golden color. Would wash down some tasty seafood really well! Kolsch- Newburyport Brewery's newest brew. I've only had a chance to try it once. It's definitely great for a European style beer. Although I'm not a huge fan of this style. I'll definitely have to make my way down to their bar/sample room and check out some live music at some point! Will update the review after doing so!

Anthony F.

Yelp
A stop on the way from Maine to southern Massachusetts. Small cozy tap room with good beer. Great talking with the locals too! Had a flight of 3 different IPAs and a stout. Also tried my wife's lager, pale ale and blueberry Weiss. Tall buoy was a very good ipa, as was the green head. I was surprised by the Yankee blue as I usually am not a fan of Weiss beers but this one was quite tasty. Looking forward to trying more of their beers in the future!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Best brewery in the Northshore! One thing I like is they have a ton of variety compared to some of the local breweries. They recently introduced a Lemon Gose. I don't know exactly what Gose is, but either way YUM! There seems to always be something going on, whether it's music or trivia or a food track. And it's dog friendly, which is a HUGE plus

David T.

Yelp
We targeted a visit to NBC on our visit from the South Shore in early October 2018 while checking out the area and we're glad we did. The space is ample with a bar area that seats around 10-12 and tables as well as an outside area. It's dog-friendly and many dogs visited too. The barkeep was friendly and kept our glasses full of excellent beer. I started with the Green Head and it's fantastic, full body and many hops. Wife tried the True Buoy and I sampled the Pale Ale. Our favorite by far was the Green Head IPA. Excellent beer and very friendly place as we struck up conversations with many around us. We're visiting again and recommend to anyone.

Uncle J.

Yelp
A neat spot and the 3-star Yelp option of A-OK was probably spot on for us. I didn't care for some of the beers and really only liked the Pale and Kolsch (others included an IPA, Session IPA ((styles I normally really like)) and Belgian Wheat ((notsomuch on this style))), but that's just a matter of personal preference. We arrived probably around 4:30 on a Saturday and there was still quite a few tables open. This was our only visit, but I can't see why people would complain about the seating. Quite a few seats the bar, a couple tables where you could comfortably sit 10 and plenty of 2 tops. Unless people are just complaining that it's busy, which is like, you know, probably their goal? There were some kids running around, but again, it's 2016 and people with kids do things, like drink. Heck, if I had kids I'd be stopping at every brewery I saw!! Weird complaint. The bartender wasn't super outgoing (nice to have those at breweries where they're really excited about what they've made and are pouring you), but he was attentive and got the job done no problem. Seemed like a high local turnout and all nice folks. Funk/jam band was playing and they had the volume at a perfect level, so that you could still have a conversation, but not totally muted either. Not super high on my return list, only as again, the beers weren't all my cup of tea, but if someone wanted to meet there, I wouldn't hesitate. Cool place and would be fun to go for some of the events they have.

Todd O.

Yelp
I was surprised to come here on a Saturday and find it busier (and more fun) than most local bars. What a great surprise. The staff is nice and the locals are friendly and chatty. All of the beers are better than average although maybe not quite as tasty as some of their nearby competition. Regardless it's a great place to go for some a drink, great tunes, and a comfortable environment. I haven't tried the Tacos for Taco Thursday yet although I was there one Thursday evening. Everyone was raving about how good (and affordable) they were. There were a lot of kids running around which isn't always for everyone but I thought it was nice to see so much commotion. Definitely worth a visit.

Todd F.

Yelp
Before a wedding, dressed in our finery, my wife and I stopped by on our way to the church. It wasn't busy being 3:30. The majority of the bar seats were taken but the rest of the place was quiet. That is an important observation to make considering the bartender and two other employees didn't even welcome us as we stood at the bar looking at the selection. They continued their apparently important conversation. I made eye contact with the bartender, even giving her the "we're set to order" nod. Nothing. My wife finally interrupted their conversation to ask who we order from as I was moments away from leaving. The bartender said, "oh, that's me." We ordered the double IPA and sat at one of the long tables. From here I'll review the beer but ordering was possibly the strangest bar experience we've ever had. It's important to note the three employees continued talking after we ordered. We highly enjoy their regular beer offerings. The green head IPA is my favorite beer they make. The double IPA we got was kind of a let down. Seemed like the sweetness of the alcohol overpowered the hoppiness making for an unbalanced brew. However we did take home some fresh green head to enjoy later. We've been before so this experience was surprising. We'll go again as we really enjoy the beer and hope the service improves.

Liliana C.

Yelp
NBPT Brew Co. was awesome! We loved visiting their brewery and will definitely be back. Having been to dozens of brewery tours, this one was unique because they're one of the few that are working while you tour. It was also one of the few with ladies present and women are way too underrepresented in the beer scene. Copious free samples and friendly faces up for talking to you about their beer. Definitely a great way to spend your time. Their events also look pretty rad so we'll be heading back for one of those.

Tom S.

Yelp
Really cool taproom! They have a handful of options (I recommend the Belgian White) and they have a nice patio so if you want to sit outside there's plenty of room. They have live music and some games, as well as a Foosball table so you can definitely keep yourself entertained. They don't have food but you can order from somewhere else and have it delivered.

Kristi Y.

Yelp
Neat space, live music, good beer! Went for a tasting (flights were on the house - 4 types) and then a quick tour. I really like that they use cans (vs bottles). Very impressive volume and facility for the time that its been around. The Belgium white (with coriander) - I could drink all day. Really neat place to hang out. modern interior. Includes a Foosball table. You can even bring your own food! Could maybe use some additional seating but I would definitely return! They said something about outdoor parties starting soon - sounds like a good time!

DA W.

Yelp
We were really excited that they had music and Metzy's on Thursday nights. Hoped to make it a habit since it is near to work. A bunch of us have gone over a few times, hoping it would improve. The beer is okay but the seating is horrible! What a waste of space! There is plenty of FLOOR space but it is wasted on a foosball table and there are very few tables. Just a couple of community ones. They need to put in a bunch of cafe tables and bar stools or something. So not only do you have to stand you also have to then dodge all the little kids running all over the place! Why are there so many kids in a BAR?

Leo M.

Yelp
A very cool vibe in this brewery hidden away in the port industrial park. A favorite of the locals and fans of a good strong IPA. Random live music and food trucks round out the offerings of several beers on tap including the Belgian White and Green Head IPA.

mark p.

Yelp
Great brewery. Have been coming here for a while. Dog friendly and often have live music or trivia. Friendly staff and owners. I also had the pleasure of displaying with photography on their walls for a month. They do this every month with a different artist.

Robert P.

Yelp
Good beer. Funky live music. Five stars. Place is filling up which is nice to see. Green head IPA has a kick

L L.

Yelp
Excellent local beer, as many of the other reviewers have pointed out. The Newburyport Brewing Company is a great stop on a hot day, or when you're looking for someplace to try some beers that won't cost a lot, or anything at all :) And it's a good place to stop to pick up a growler or two to take home. I haven't had a tour yet, but they sound like they'd be fun. They sometimes have live music to go with the beer tastings. On Thursday nights, typically there's a local band playing and Metzy's Taco truck is outside providing some delicious food to go with the beer. The music is sometimes way too loud for the room...it's a small room and a little amp goes a long way, but some people might enjoy that atmosphere, with music dominating the room. And as someone else mentioned, there are often families with small children/babies here, which is fine, but it changes the vibe a bit from what you might expect at a brewery. The abundance of small children surprised me the first time I came for Taco Thursdays: I figured Brewery Tour, Beer, Burritos and Live Music in the evening after work would draw a mostly adult crowd. And the last time I came, some parents thought it was OK to let their little ones pee in the parking lot in plain sight steps from the main entrance, which seemed a bit odd (there's a restroom inside, right?) and certainly dampened the "cool place to hang with a beer after work" mood.

William F.

Yelp
Free beer is a rare thing these days, but Newburyport's samplers are on the house. The beers themselves are generally pretty tasty, I wasn't a huge fan of the pale ale, but I liked pretty much everything else. The Green Head IPA and Session IPA are really good. The taproom is pretty big with plenty of space to hangout. They seem to have frequent live music and the full pints are only $5.

Lindsay C.

Yelp
We love sampling local beers and were very excited to visit Newburyport Brewing since it's practically in our backyard. The location is removed from the touristy area of Newburyport and there's plenty of parking. The tasting room is very open and inviting. We arrived at around 4 on a Friday so it wasn't busy at all. The beers were good; we especially loved the beer can shaped glasses that they're served in. The service was great, we will certainly be back soon!

Jackie K.

Yelp
Great beer, great space, easy to park---what else do you need? (food--but they have a good truck sometimes and newburyport is just down the road if you want food)

Sara F.

Yelp
I Love coming here for their tasting hours! It is the perfect little treat after a long week of work. You can go enjoy a great beer and great live music with cheerful people and pleasant service. No food and the party ends early, but I love that! I feel like I'm at a private house party- nothing else like it! Never too crowded, casual, easy to park... It's just a perfect little night.

Nate M.

Yelp
The beer is great but seating is a real issue. Limited seats and because they allow kids in all the time, there is never seats for paying customers. The amount of kids running around causing scenes is enough for me not to come back. As a local it is frustrating having the limited seats taken by kids when others are trying to enjoy after work drinks with friends and co-workers.

Sco T.

Yelp
I love NBPT...world class craft beer, fantastic India pale ale (Greenhead - The beer that bites back!) and Belgian White. Can't wait to try out their new Session Ales!

A C.

Yelp
Very cool spot! Got there at about 4 on a Saturday and we got a table. Live music started at 5. There are a bunch of board games. Dog friendly. Very fresh brews. We will be back when we are back in the area!

Adrienne A.

Yelp
Awesome place, great atmosphere, fantastic beers, live music, foosball table. Bring your own food. It's just a great place, definitely someplace to check out.

Katherine H.

Yelp
this place is awesome! the bar can be a bit slow but the taco cart on thursdays more than make up for it!

Colleen H.

Yelp
Had a great time visiting the brewery this weekend! Walked in with a few friends and asked the bartender if they were doing tours. She said they weren't until 5 (it was about 330) but she would check and see if one of the brewers could give us a quick tour. We ended up getting one and it was super fun and informative! Afterwards we got to sample their 3 main beers as well as their special one (the Joppa stout) and they were all delicious! They are set up to have live music at night as well. Would recommend to anyone!
