Newt's Downtown

Always a great place to come to with my mom when we have to visit Mayo. It's our new go-to place for sure! The service is phenomenal every single time!!! I just love coming here! This was our 3rd time, and there will definitely be more! Someday i'd love to try the beers, but we just come for the burgers and my mom gets the fish. Loooooove it.

The portions are huge! The food is great and the staff is wonderful. I can't remember our waiters name but he was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. You will not leave hungry. I will eat at Newt's every time I come to Rochester.

Loved it! The best burger in Rochester 16 times is no joke. The fried onion blue 1/2 lb burger was amazing. Hefty price but they were worth it. I'll get the same thing over and over again. The other photo is the wife's mushroom Swiss burger. I sampled hers but mine blew hers out of the water.

I stopped in here for a quick bit to eat. I had heard varying reviews from people, but I had to decide for my own. Service was a little slow at first. I had the Marvin which was very flavorful. Something I had heard before was the burgers were really greasy and they were, but I didnt feel like it detracted at all from my dinner. This location is relatively small and I was able to seat myself. It may not be my first choice to go back, but if I am in the need for a burger, this would be a go to.

We ordered room service years ago while staying at a hotel in downtown Rochester- we spent about 2 hours trying to find the restaurant that had the amazing Juicy Lucy burger- it was totally worth the two hours of walking to find Newt's! The atmosphere was really chill with a mix of classic rock and country music. There was a bar available as well- the honey bbq wings were crispy and juicy- perfectly cooked and the ranch was delicious as well. The juicy lucy was cooked perfect- medium and cheesy! Fantastic burger! The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs as well- and free popcorn was a bonus. The floor was a bit messy due to the popcorn, but hey- it is a chill bar with great food and atmosphere so I can overlook a popcorn mess on the floor.

First time at a Newts, and we absolutely loved it! The burger was juicy and very flavorful. The home cut fries were cooked well and had just the right amount of salt. The service was quick and friendly. We had to sit outside due to covid-19 restrictions so we were disappointed not getting to see the inside of the building. Will definitely be back if we ever visit Rochester Minnesota again.

There’s a reason Newts has been voted best burger, they know how to make them! We stopped into Newts on a whim while visiting Rochester and we’re very pleased with the cheese curds and the burger. Very casual setting and great service. The cheese curds tasted so fresh and burger was cooked perfectly! Going back to Newts might be reason enough to visit Rochester again.

An iconic establishment of Rochester Minnesota! The downtown location is upstairs (above the Mexican restaurant). They must be in association with one another as both names appeared on the check. I got The Dave burger. It was pretty good, but I would have to say the description was better. I was expecting some spice but it seemed more like a patty, BBQ sauce, and cheese. The staff and decor really make the place. I encourage everyone to try it out and see if the descriptions are accurate!
