"The way Taproot in Norwalk describes itself is a bit of a yawn, but this “New American” restaurant serving “farm-to-table seasonal Connecticut cuisine” is anything but boring. Leaning into big hits of smoke, sweetness, and fresh herbs, with a slight Asian influence, a meal here doesn’t skimp on flavor. Start with one of their fantastic cocktails, then go for the fresh salads and cooked vegetable appetizers, the knockout lamb patty melt with gouda and tangy onion jam on caraway-heavy rye, and the caramelized croissant bread pudding, which will make you thankful you saved room for dessert. Consider coming during brunch—the only time their standout smoked cabbage okonomiyaki is offered. It’s also worth trying their “Taproot Next Door” Southeast Asian concept in the back of the restaurant, with a completely different menu that similarly delivers." - chloe zale, ciera velarde

Absolutely must try all these dishes! Not one dish was a miss. Every dish had it’s own unique flavors reminiscent of Thais Street food. We ordered the Pig Ear Appetizer, the Raw Sea trout, Pork Collar Satay, Pork Rendang, and Pandan Ice cream. Meats were melt in your mouth, full of flavors/spices, and presented with so much care. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved the many dishes we tried. All different and all bright and punchy and tasty and exciting. Not a dud in the bunch. Wait staff was fun and enthusiastic. Atmosphere was chill and relaxed. Can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
We loved this place! The ambiance was nice for a date night (cozy, trendy, lots of plants), the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious and unique. We got the pig's ear miang kum (you create a little lettuce wrap with the pepper leaves, thinly sliced and fried pig ears, and herbs/peppers/sauce), chicken satay, seacoast mushroom laab, crab fried rice, and pandan ice cream with peanuts and a gula melaka sauce (palm sugar).
