You Don’t Have to Put an Egg On It: How Portland Chefs Work Around the Egg Shortage | Eater Portland

"I wouldn’t feel comfortable cracking eggs open for my family right now," says Matt de Gruyter, founder of the plant-based chain, a quote that captures the anxiety around animal products as zoonotic threats and soaring egg prices have collided with supply shocks and culling. His comment is presented in the broader context that the first H5N1 bird flu human death was recorded in January 2025, domestic cats have contracted the disease, and a new strain was found in dairy cattle — all part of the reason some operators are removing menu items or adding surcharges." - Anastasia Sloan

Whole Foods’ Vegan Burger Restaurant Is Coming to Austin | Eater Austin

"An Oregon-based vegetarian burger chain is opening a location inside the flagship Whole Foods at 525 North Lamar Boulevard this fall. The menu centers on fully plant-based burgers — including an umami mushroom-and-quinoa option and sausage-style patties — and also features hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, fries (available baked), soy- or coconut-based shakes, and a breakfast selection with pancakes and Eggs Benedict. The small chain currently has six mostly West Coast locations and first partnered with Whole Foods when expanding to the East Coast at the Fort Greene 365 store; under the Friends of Whole Foods Market program this outlet will operate relatively independently within the store, reflecting a shared focus on innovative, values-driven, plant-based offerings." - Erin Russell

Google
Next Level Burger – Austin (Inside Whole Foods) Blessed up, people! 🙌 This spot is truly next level. I popped in during a promotion for the Sunrise Burger (yes, a FREE plant-based burger—what a blessing), and honestly? I’d pay for it no question. It was THAT good. The burger was stacked with flavor, cooked to perfection, and had a fresh, wholesome feel without sacrificing the satisfaction of a solid smash burger. The setup is slick—super convenient being inside Whole Foods, with chill seating and plenty of options for everyone. Loved the ease, loved the service, and especially loved the taste. 🍔💥 This place is it when you’re craving that vegan burger hit. #HighlyRecommend 🌱 100% plant-based 🔥 Convenient location 🪑 Indoor seating available 💚 Great for quick bites or chill hangs Thank you, Next Level! I’ll be back!

Google
Stopped by Next Level Burger inside the flagship Whole Foods and tried the Chik’n Bacon Ranch Burger with a side of onion rings — and I’ve got to say, this spot lives up to its name in terms of freshness and plant-based creativity. The burger had great balance: crispy “chik’n” patty, smoky vegan bacon, and that creamy ranch sauce that tied everything together. The toppings were fresh, the bun held up well, and the flavors felt satisfying without being greasy or heavy. You can tell they put care into presentation and texture, which goes a long way when you’re eating plant-based. The onion rings were a real highlight — golden, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. They came out hot and didn’t have that oily aftertaste you get from some fryers. The pricing leans a little high for counter-style service inside a grocery store, and the seating area doesn’t exactly scream “restaurant vibe.” Since it’s in the middle of Whole Foods so you’ll have to catch a seat near the entrance or outside. But the staff was friendly especially Mr Curry , the food came out quick, and it’s a solid win for anyone craving a hearty vegan meal in central Austin. Would definitely go back when I’m in Whole Foods and want something indulgent but still plant-based.

Google
This was one of the absolute best burgers I have ever had, and their homemade sauce and pepper jack cheese are out of this world amazing!!! The mint chocolate chip milkshake is fantastically creamy with the perfect amount of mint!! The staff are incredibly kind and gracious, and fully trained in food allergies!! Kurry was one of the nicest restaurant staff I have ever met, and I hope one day they’re able to have locations in every major city!!

Google
The first time having this I actually ordered it via door dash thinking that it was just another chicken sandwich and not taking into account that this was a completely vegan restaurant. Upon getting the sandwiches, they looked absolutely amazing and I dug in really quickly and noticed that something was off with the bacon, but it was still good. Then I discovered it was tempeh bacon. So then I looked up the restaurant and saw that this was a vegan chicken sandwich and I'm absolutely mind blown by the taste! Such an upgrade from traditional fast food! And they offer milkshakes that have coconut milk and soy milk for us people who are lactose intolerant! This place is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend & I will be eating here very often for when I have a fast food kick!

Laura M.

Google
The atmosphere has gotten so much better since Kurry took over! I used to avoid ordering when the previous manager was at the register because she was so rude and unwelcoming. The food tastes great, but can be a bit heavy. I love that they have soy based milkshakes! It can be very difficult to find good vegan ice cream offerings especially soft serve.

Google
Next Level Burger has become my new favorite fake fried chicken place. I’m not really a vegetarian that craves much meat, and let’s be honest, am I really even a vegetarian? Anyway, when I DO crave meat, it’s fried chicken. And good golly, miss Molly, do they do a good fake fried chicken sandwich. It is absolutely delicious. It’s crispy and flavorful and warm and has some fun toppings like tempeh and pickles and different sauces. I loved Project Pollo but I guess they were bought and I haven’t seen them. Aside from PP Ive never come across another fake fried chicken place like this. So far my fav has been the limited time honey truffle chicken sandwich - can you keep it for good plz? The price is really high, but if you download their app and respond to their surveys, you can get points. And the points are actually really good - I’ve had a free fry, a free chicken sandwich and also $20 off an order from all the points. So they do add up and help your wallet a bit. Oh and they also do shakes and they’re great too.

Google
The food was amazing I Got the plant base burger with the onion rings on it. The server Kurry was great very nice and helpful his customer service was a 10 out of 10 and the food was 10 out of 10 also the cookie dough vegan milk shake was a 10 out of 10 me and my wife will be back

Nicolas R.

Google
We got to meet Curry at the front and right off the bat, he was super friendly and very helpful. We got a soy based chocolate milkshake and it was really good. It reminded me of milkshakes I used to have as a kid. Great food, clean environment and great people. We will definitely be going back!!

Yelp
Sweet potato fries and shake were fantastic and five stars. Burger was good. Without the 10 dollar off deal on the app the meal is severely overpriced. For three items the total would be nearly 30 bucks. For the regular milkshake I'd say the normal price is worth it, other items are a bit too high

Yelp
I'm actually thinking this deserves 3.5 stars. But since that isn't an option I'll go 3. The location is inside the Whole Foods and it's not much to look at. You get your food, and take it to go or eat at a Whole Foods table inside or out. They're renting space inside the market so it's kind of weirdly situated in a corner. We found the clerk to be knowledgeable and helpful. And she was patient as we decided. I had read about this concept shortly after it opened and was excited to try it. And since we were in austin, I convinced the family to give it a go - and we could pickup some things at Whole Foods while we were there. I am not vegan, but do consider myself vegetarian, with a little fish here and there. But I'm happy to eat vegan - and when an opportunity to eat some good and perhaps unique vegan food presents itself, I'll try it! We had the housemade mushroom patty and as others said, it was crumbly and did tend to fall apart. But my wife was more meticulous with how she held the bun and hers did not break that way. So at least in part, there is a technique to handling it. The burgers were good and lived up to my expectations. We also had a hot chicken special that was pretty nice. Sweet potato fries with the special sauce rounded out the meal. Is it healthy? Well, no. But you could say that it's better for all of us in a more abstract way. Is it good? Yes Would I go back if there was one close to me? Yes Is it pricey? Yes. But then so are the higher end burger joints. This is on a par with them.

Yelp
Not sure why there are comments about the food being just "OK" because this is the best damn plant-based burger I've ever had! (Will have to try Vegan Nom again and compare!) Was enjoyed so thoroughly there was no chance for pics to be taken. Love love love that more vegetarian and even vegan options are becoming more and more accessible! Finally tried Next Level burger because they were offering a BOGO burger deal on Uber. Sure it's a little pricey but it is vegan food, and with these app deals it's an extra good value. That being said since we ordered delivery can't speak for the ambiance of this place but the menu/selection (and also the packaging/orange color palette) really reminds me of a vegan Whataburger...heck yeah, yum!! I got a *vegetarian* *bacon* *gouda* cheeseburger on a PRETZEL bun, even (total junk food heaven for me) and while I have yet to find a vegetarian bacon as chewy and savory as the real thing I would order this again and again. After I took my first bite I was like, wait, is this a real beef burger?? I didn't even reach for bbq sauce as I always do with a good burger since it was flavorful enough on its own. The patty was thin and crispy like a well-done patty, tasted like the real thing! I love that they have so many side options too, fries (chunkier steak fry style), sweet potato fries (thin crinkle style), tater tots, onion rings... something for every junk food mood, hard to pick just one. The sides were a little soggy by the time they arrived to us, but they had to travel far to us so that was/is to be expected. That being said the burgers were still hot and amazing! Every bit worth the wait. We were both blown away with how convincing and overall satisfying they were. No weird plant-based beef burps after eating it either (if you vegetarians get at all what I'm referring to!) which is just another reason it's worth raving over. I do agree with a comment I saw about the cookies and cream milkshake (not a big milkshake fan but another BOGO deal so we gave it a try) being a little disappointing in the way that the milkshake seemed watery/thin/not a lot of body to it (coconut base) but it still tasted good and satisfied my sweet craving. Burgers again were absolutely amazing... "Next Level" if you will ;) haha. Look forward to having it again. Next time we'll be sure to try the "chick'n"!

Yelp
I didn't realize this was inside Whole Foods but the directions led me there and a worker told me where to go. Delicious food, would love to go Back and try more options. No Indoor seating that I could see so I sat outside where there were tables. Plenty of parking in WF lot
google avatar

Yelp
Buyer beware--false advertising. I came across this place and had never heard of it...it advertised "burgers" and I saw the vegan options like beyond burger and black bean burgers and DIDN'T order those. Nowhere in the menu/ordering kiosk or signage did it say everything was vegan, so I thought I was ordering a meat burger...I threw it away and wasted that $10. If you like vegan burgers, fine. Maybe this is your thing. I would like them to label it clearly as such though.

Yelp
When Next Level Burger opened up in Concord, I remember being distinctly unimpressed. That memory stayed with me, keeping me away, but now I regret that time apart because the Austin location is a whole different story. Located conveniently inside the North Lamar Whole Foods, you have the luxury of abundant, free, covered parking, and can get all your healthy groceries while you're there. I like to think of it as an incentive for the effort. Head down to the front of the store, by the salad bars, Amazon return center, and Juiceland outpost. What makes this place special is the people. I've never had such patient, friendly, and kind service even when the app is bugging out and no one can make it work. They will find a way to make it right. I'd wait any amount of time to get my hands on these amazing sandwiches, especially the crispy chicken! I know it's a burger place, but trust me, you NEED the crispy chicken. It's immaculately fried, resoundingly crunchy, comes on a soft and buttery bun, and has genuinely fresh, crisp veggies on top. It's just perfection. The onion rings also deserve a shout-out. Again, flawless crispy finish, and the onions are tender, so they don't end up pulling out of the batter like gross oniony worms. Get the chipotle mayo and dip to your heart's content. Yes, everything is vegan. No, it doesn't taste like it. Yes, you want to find out for yourself.

Yelp
Food was just ok. I think my expectations were too high. The Signature burger's quinoa and mushroom patty completely crumbled. The best part of the Gobbler Burger was the dressing--loved it. However, the patty didn't have much flavor. The fries had a really clean pleasant flavor. I ordered 3rd patty delivery, I can't review the service or setting.

Anna R.

Yelp
Tried another burger there yesterday, the Beyond Fire burger minus the bacon/lettuce/tomato/pickle (yes I'm picky). Added in jalepenos. It was divine! Better than the ghost pepper popper burger there, which I really enjoyed last time. The service is super friendly and kind. Wish there were better seating options (it's in Whole Foods so you have that atmosphere). I really wish they would expend to their own space and have better seating. All in all, the delicious burgers keep us coming back.
google avatar

Blad B.

Yelp
They just keep on getting better! I've going there occasionally over the past five years. I'm glad they are still there at Whole Foods after the pandemic. Their "classic" burgers on the menu is still as good as it has been. Recently, I've tried their new additions "Pub" burgers section and they're pretty impressive. For those who are meat eaters trying to do more plant-based food, this is the place to go.

Marci C.

Yelp
So yummy! Definitely worth a visit. Got the burger with smoked Gouda and chipotle mayo! Delish

Velma P.

Yelp
Excellent food and service Good burgers and shakes are supper Service is great Ambiance could be a lot better. A real restaurant would be a million times better than in Whole Foods grocery store
google avatar

Meredith H.

Yelp
Ordered: -Chicken Bacon Ranch burger -Sweet potato fries -Garlic thyme mayo -Chipotle Mayo Chicken bacon is delicious. Perfectly crisp and bun is tasty too. Melted Gouda was heavenly. Tomato and lettuce taste very fresh. Tempeh Bacon was cooked well and tasted ok but I think I'll order it without next time. I'm not a massive fan of tempeh bacon in general. Sweet potato fries are delish too. Salted just enough but not overly. If you like dipping fries in mayo *try the Garlic Thyme mayo*! V good. I dipped my chicken sandwich in it a little too.
google avatar

Pree R.

Yelp
I was craving vegan fries with all the cool toppings. This location is inside a Whole Foods, so it's perfect for grabbing a kombucha along with your order, and heading out to eat your meal at the top patio. I got the BeerChz Style Fries which were sub-par. There was not a lot of flavor, and a lot of caramelized onion, which isn't bad, but just didn't add to to the lack of flavor already present. Still, giving four stars because whenever vegan stuff is around, I'm happy!
google avatar

Kat D.

Yelp
I can't rate the food or service because I did a doordash order. However, The Peanut Butter milkshake was incredibly delicious. I worried it would melt or be sloppy once received but nope, it was insanely delicious, clean cup, and me oh my was it creamy goodness!!!!

Shanie ..

Yelp
Super nice employees and thoughtful service, added bonus of being able to support a place with good values that's actually putting money toward good causes. Currently, every NLB location across the country is donating money to a local LGBTQ+ non-profit. I got the avocado cobb salad and thought the vegan bleu cheese dressing was creative. I loved the Cookies n Cream milkshake as well. They actually ended up giving me 2 vouchers for a free milkshake because I had to wait 15-20 minutes for my order (the person before me put in a $700 order and they got super busy) so I'll definitely be going back to redeem those and to try some of their other food options!
google avatar

Shy S.

Yelp
Honestly, the best vegan burger I've ever had! Packed 3 to take back to Dallas with me! This joint is located inside Whole Foods! Seating outdoors or indoors available! Casual! Love how easy it was to order via kiosk. Received a text message when it was ready for pick up! I got the "chkn" burger with fries. Yum, yum and double yum. As a former meat eater, this hit the spot!
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
I wasn't aware this location is inside a Whole Foods, but boy is it an awesome Whole Foods! Burger was good, a little small but good. The setup inside is like an open cafeteria space. We sat inside instead of outside because it's just too darn hot these days.

Jesse B.

Yelp
Prices are absolutely atrocious for what you get. The food is... ok. They want to make vegan food more accessible and have pride like they are changing the world, but they completely fail by making it inaccessible as they chase their greed, ironically. Absolutely way too expensive with zero justification.
google avatar

Dra P.

Yelp
Had the American chz burger with tempeh bacon and double cheese! With crudity sweet Potatoe fries! Not to mention 1/2 coconut n soy Oreo shake! Oh and customer service from Kristine and Curry was top notch !
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Overall, a very tasty vegan burger option. The classic chzburger utilized the beyond burger meat patty and contained contained all the toppings you would expect from a loaded cheeseburger. In the end, I'd put it a slight bit below plow burger - for me plow burger just feels like it has fresher ingredients so it pops a bit more in flavor. The loaded fries were decent - I liked all the toppings on top of them. However, I think crinkle cut fries are probably one of the worst varieties of potato foods (just my personal preference).
google avatar

Sumit S.

Yelp
Nothing informs you that the place is inside the large Whole Foods Market. Even when you are right outside the market there is absolutely no obvious sign. This is a big negative as it meant we paid for the parking in a nearby street at the back than enjoy free parking at the market itself. The food itself was nice and didn't take long to be ready. I felt it lacked dips to flavour it, but I was so glad that it offers house made patties rather than commercially manufactured imitation meat ones. You order from kiosk and collect it, then find a table that is shared with other eating joints. I just wish it was easier to find.

Yelp
I walked away from eating here so conflicted. I'm visiting from out of state, staying with family that lives in Pflugerville. My brother who works in Austin has been excited for me to visit because I went plant based a few months ago and he has been raving that Austin has so many wonderful options for this lifestyle. After spending the morning and most of the day exploring Austin I was beyond excited to go eat at Next Level Burger. I had spent a few days before looking up a place to indulge because I do cook predominantly at home. Every single item sounded amazing and rich! The prices were extremely reasonable. I was in love with the fact that they use coconut to make their ice cream, I couldn't wait! The location! Great location, inside a Whole Foods along with 2 or 3 other for choices(ideal for the whole family, even if not all are plant based/ vegan/vegetarian). Whole Foods itself had a great variety of food choices so there is no need to fret about everyone finding something to eat. My husband walked the aisles to find something for him as i looked over the menu. Customer Service This is where I reduce my stars. I went 16MAR22 at around 1500. Both kiosks were being used to order from. I noticed there was a lady who had just got done taking an order, she hadn't been there for at least 10 minutes when I first arrived(I imagine that that was due to it being busy/ her having to fulfill orders). I had my nephew by my side and had my husband on my phone and I told him to hold while I ask questions and order before I walked up to the counter. The conversion went like this Me: Hello, I'm able to order with you correct? I ask because I see the kiosks but I just want to make sure Cashier: Well yeah(looks at the register) Either way its going to be a while. Are you ready to order Me: Yes Cashier: You do know that this is a vegetarian place do you? Me: Yes, I know I read your menu Cashier: ok I proceed to order and I asked two questions, after the first question the cashier verbalizes annoyed and exasperated "Do you need more time to look over the menu and order?" I was so surprised at the response and tone that I rushed to order JUST to not interact with this woman any more. She let's me know when to insert my card and before I insert my card she starts to walk away and verbalizes "it'll be a while before your food is ready". Doesn't offer me a receipt, just walks away. At this point my husband had walked over to me and was angry, he had heard the entire interaction via the phone and asked me why I even went through with ordering at this establishment after hearing how rude the employee spoke to me. I told him it was purely out of hunger and the location at this point. *The cherry on top!* When my order was ready I asked her if I could have a fork She replies "Why do you need a fork?" Annoyed with her response I calmly asked"Do you have utensils here or not ma'am? " She then turns and walks 2 steps to get me a fork and puts it in my bag. I truly felt like an annoyance to this woman, so much that I walked away irritated. The reason I wrote at the beginning of this review that I left conflicted was because the food was amazing. I come from hospitality and food service. I know how to treat my guests and ensure each interaction and experience be a positive one. With these past two years I understand the stress that many businesses have gone through just to stay open. That's why I truly love supporting small businesses and growing establishments and believe leaving honest reviews and experiences like this are important. I ordered so hurriedly that I didn't even order the shake or sides I wanted. I told him my husband that I might consider coming back, if we pass by Austin again but this experience was not great solely due to the customer service I received.

Emily B.

Yelp
This place is shockingly good! As someone veg and gf it can be hard to find a place that caters to both. But wow was I stoked on my order. I wanted to try a few more things. My favorite was the spicy faux chicken sandwich. Honestly tasted better than a regular one, shockingly good. Second favorite was the chili cheese fries. Great flavor, huge portion and had all the vibes of meat without it. The burger was def 3rd place. Pretty basic and preferred the faux chicken, but gf buns were really good. Overall a massive win for anyone trying to eat veg. All the fun of a binge meal without the guilt. Didn't get any pics bc I got it to go but 10/10.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
First, I have to say the customer service of the Next Level team is truly exceptional. This is a company committed to their customers and their food. Like usual, my husband and I were doing our grocery shopping at WF around dinner, and didn't feel like cooking. So we decided to give NLB another shot. This time, I figured the best way to truly experience NLB was through a burger. I opted for a beyond burger with the classic toppings (lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles, thousand island and cheese). And I was honestly shocked. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. One day I'll give the Caesar another shot, but I'm going to have a hard time coming here and not getting a burger.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been wanting to try a Next Level Burger for a while, and finally had a chance. It is located at in the Whole Foods on Lamar. You can order and pay at the kiosk, and they text you when your order is ready. I went for the single cheeseburger and a small order of crinkle fries. I only had to wait about 7-10 minutes, but that is what is great about being in Whole Foods. It's easy to kill time. The burger was really good. Honestly it tastes like beef to me. You can choose what condiments you want on it when you order. I also loved the crinkle fries. Not too salty and hot. I want to try the sweet potato fries next time.
google avatar

J.C. L.

Yelp
The food has potential but this location and service is horrific. The lady at the counter was impatient, rude and u professional. She didn't want to be bothered doing her actual job and certainly didn't want to answer any questions. My fries were burnt, the cola had melted ice and must've sat out the entire time they were preparing the food. The entire order came out but my chicken sandwich was missing. So when i did get it i was greeted with a "i forgot it here" so it was cold when it was handed to me. Now i had to wait another 10 mins for my chicken sandwich but now my burnt fries were cold. Complete waste of time and horrible food, service.

Yelp
This location always makes my food SUPER fresh and they're so fun and inviting! Shout out to Christine and curry for greeting me when I picked up my online order.

cydel g.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. The frankenburger completely blew my mind. So much flavor, the texture was top notch, team knew what they were doing and were so accommodating. They have a variety of options and are consistently accommodating. Could not recommend more.
google avatar

Krystal B.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say but this food was so average and salty! I ordered the Cobb salad and i was just expecting it to be better. I'm disappointed because this was my first vegan restaurant stop in Austin and it just didn't hit the mark. On top of that, I paid $19 for the salad.... not happy at all.

Joey P.

Yelp
Great experience with Christine here . Left my card and she called me and made sure I knew she had it .. the burger was awesome as well . If you are a vegetarian this is the best burger !
google avatar

Sophia G.

Yelp
Next Level is possibly the best vegan burgers I've ever had. This is why I come to Austin. For 10/10 vegan food. Most places I've tried here are amazing. And it's so good when I get to try a new place that is equally amazing as the rest. But this place, surpassed even some of my favorites. We had the sauerkraut hotdog and the animal chicken burger? I think those are the names. And they were both so amazing!! Even the cheesecake milkshake was good. I was a little confused at first. I had no idea this place was inside of Whole Foods. I love that we order at a kiosk. I tend to forget to remove things when I talk to the cashier. And I like receiving texts when the order is ready. This place made my taste buds very happy. Definitely somewhere I plan on coming back to.
google avatar

Rebecca D.

Yelp
The food here is great, the service sucks. Every time I come here I place an online order, and when I arrive the employees all look at me and then turn around and don't come back for several minutes. Every time.
google avatar

Yelp
So good, really glad they have the Beyond chicken strips! The sauces are great too. I got my food from here to-go and it was fresh and delicious.

Yelp
What I got: the beyond brat with sauerkraut, jalapenos, and mustard Food/Quality: 5/5 I was so surprised how much it tasted like a real brat. Really freaked me out but it was delicious! The bun was toasted, and the brat link was cooked perfectly, and the sauerkraut gave the right amount of acidity. Customer service: 1/5. I ordered on grub hub for pick up and when I tried to get their attention, no one was bothering to pay attention and didn't even look my way when I asked for help. So I just grabbed my bag and no one bothered to even check if I got the right one/if I even bought it. Aslo, it looked like they threw the hot dog together because sauce was all over the container and the sauerkraut looked like someone just threw it on. Ambiance: 4/5 It's not an exact sit down cute restaurant but it is located in whole foods so you'll definitely feel like a boozy, "vegan that is so health conscious". The overall vibe feeds into that mainstream health/environment lover culture which honestly I'm here for Price: 3.5/5 Not bad compared to other paces but honestly if I want this vegan brat again ill just make it myself since this was around 10 dollars for a small brat, and at the market, the beyond bats are around 2-3 dollars a piece.

Yelp
Lunch time meal with a small strawberries shake! The food was very good and tasty. I loved the chilli cheese fries. Now I did not add guacamole but I was charged $2.00 extra for it. Now that pushed my "lunch" cost for 1 person to $25.+ OK , to eat lunch everyday at this cost is expensive but I wanted to try the 3 items for my first visit. The shake was really good, considering I have not had a milk shake in over 25 years bcs I'm lactose intolerant. The burger was very well put together but needed more bbq or even more vegan blue cheese sauce and that's an upcharge as well. I will return and maybe just order less. Overall great food at a high cost considering I'm paying for quality. I'm still baffled why I paid for guac and didnt order and that's why I'm giving 4 stars!

Yelp
This restaurant has some of the best burgers in Austin. The ingredients are fresh and you don't feel guilty eating the food! Totally recommend this place and will definitely come back!

Yelp
It's a little tricky to find if you aren't a local (heads up, it's located in the Whole Foods) but WOW THE GARDEN DOG IS TO DIE FOR!!! I seriously went in for another to go- everything else on the menu looked amaze too, this place is a must for vegetarians & vegans ‍

Yelp
possibly the worst burger I've ever had. I don't know if it was because it was sitting for a while when I got here but def not hot or even warm at all. Also way over priced for a burger + fries. Workers were great but seriously yuck.

Yelp
Shakes were amazing. If you get the small size it is very small. The food came out fast and hot. Give this place a try if you are in the area.

Yelp
Good food! Fats and fresh. We were pleasantly surprised. And the peanut butter shake was a great way to top the night

Yelp
Haven't tried their food yet but their pumpkin spice milk shake is very good! It's made from your choice of soy milk or coconut milk. I look forward trying their food next time we are in the area.

Yelp
I was in Austin for work and was on the search for good vegan food. I eat vegan food a lot when I'm traveling, as it's easier on my stomach when you need to eat out every single day. I found this place on yelp and am SUPER glad I decided to check it out. Why you may ask? Well, not only because my vegan burger and sweet potato fries were out of this world good but because this location is inside of the flagship Whole Food's market... For a dork like me that loves grocery shopping, this Whole Food's location is a dream come true. It has like 6 restaurants inside and a coffee shop.. what! I ordered with next level burger via a tablet outside of the restaurant and just scanned the aisles as I waited for my food to be ready. I grabbed a Waterloo sparkling water and ate my delicious lunch outside. There was also a ton of indoor seating as well. Loved this spot. Will def. be back when I'm back in Austin!

Yelp
Stopped by here whilst late-night shopping at Whole Foods. I can't do gluten or dairy so I was pretty enticed by the idea of a dairy free milkshake. I decided to just go for it. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. She took my order and let me know what could be done gluten free, as well as recommended the better milk to use in a shake (choice of soy or coconut). I ordered a chocolate shake and vegan kraut dog, and made it clear I wanted gluten free everything. After ordering, I went to check out my groceries then came back. She finished my shake and gave it to me, and let me know my food was almost ready. The shake was pretty dang good--definitely no replacement for a real, dairy-filled milkshake but not a bad compromise. I will for sure return for a shake. Then my food came and I went home with my takeout, as it was almost 10. Upon arriving at home, I found my vegan kraut dog to be on a regular bun :/ I have a gluten allergy so it was a big no. I tried to eat bites of parts not touching the bun but ended up feeling sick the next day anyway. The dog was okay but not worth the money without a bun, and definitely not worth the stomach unease the following day. Be careful to double check you get your food prepared properly. Nonetheless, it's a decent spot with good vegan shakes.

Yelp
5 star, Great service!!!! 0 stars on faux burger. So disappointed!!! Was craving a burger and got a double meat cheeseburger to go. Got home and was so excited to sink my teeth into a delicious juicy burger. Wow...plant based! Can you really even call it a burger? I think not. Oh well, lesson learned.

Yelp
I really enjoyed next level when it in Portland. There is such a great vegan burger scene is Austin I haven't felt the need to go to Next level burger here. But due to some Happenstance I just lunch here today. And... It was fine. Good stuff Lots of selection Easy and clear ordering kiosks with lots of customization and upgrades available Less than good stuff Getting our food seemed kind of slow Fries were pretty tasty but had a seasoning that didn't improve the fries very much- a better Fry with regular salt would have been fine Tater tots were pretty good but a little overdone (honestly, though I'd skip the fries and the tots. And Arlo's tots and Plow burgers fries beat these by a mile) I got the chicken sandwich- it was fine, the chikn was crispy and flavorful and the sauce eat pretty tasty. But the bun was dull and cold. I think I'd prefer a toasted bun maybe? Anyway, Next Level, I'll see you next time I'm in Portland but won't go out of my way here for this one

Yelp
I need a next level burger in Fort Worth like yesterday. I would eat here all the time if we had one here. All vegan burger spot was perfect for our vegan diet and the food did not disappoint. I really liked that the fries are baked not fried and the apple lemon ginger drink was amazing. It also works cause it's inside Whole Foods so I know the ingredients are fresh and true. Next Level when are you coming to Ft. Worth? I just need to know.

Yelp
FANTASTIC vegan food FYINext Level Burger is located INSIDE of Whole Foods DO order the Crispy Chik'n Burger. Pro-tip add extra lemon-herb mayo on the side ads great flavor and avoids any dry bite! DO try the ~baked~ Organic Skin-On Sweet Potato Fries. And don't forget the best part - DESSERT! I've tried many flavors of their shakes. My favorite is the peanut caramel one I've found the Soy milk soft serve to be better than the coconut one for shakes. Lastly, DO plan on spending a little bit morehere as you'll be getting quality non GMO and organic food made with

Yelp
Why Doesn't Yelp Allow Three and a Half Stars? Which is what Next Level Burger Is. * * * Next Level Burger is the freestanding veggie-burger restaurant inside the Whole Foods Mothership. You order alt burgers, alt fries and alt shakes on a computer screen. They prepare all the good stuff in a kitchen that seems microscopically small. But hey, it is a limited menu with repeat items - so they may not need that much room. I didn't luxuriate in the details of all the subtle differences in the make-up of the burger or the shake-mix. There are people who worry about that stuff and I am sure full nutritional information is available. I got a savory meaty patty topped with tempeh bacon, cheddar cheese, and egg-free mayo. I had them add mustard, ketchup and grilled onions to the production - which was an enormous mistake. The bun could barely hold the standard issue burger and trimmings. Adding two sauces and grilled onions made the sandwich an unholy mess. The extra sauces did not make things taste very much better either. I was able to get some unsauced raw ingredients as well as bites with the whole sauced-up combo. No taste thrills either way, simple or complicated. The burger was good for me. It was not unpleasant. The price was Yowie-Kazowie. (What do expect from a burger served at an institution called "Whole Paycheck?") * * * On the plus side, this being the Whole Foods Mothership at all - I was able to get side dishes for the Gods. I went to the Whole Foods salad bar and made myself the side salad of my dreams - and also of the dreams of a cardiologist and of the recipe writers at Moosewood. And the Peach Soda they serve at Next Level is pretty good. So I had a first rate salad, a first rate soda and a veggie burger that was not awful. There are worse sufferings in life.

Yelp
Ive had plenty of vegan food. Been vegan my whole life ,both parents are vegan. The point is I've had way better for a less price and I wouldn't mind the price if it was worth it but it wasn't . And yea I understand about pay . the employees there are really nice i have nothing against them . Other then that the place was cool and the style was great and the people working there were helpful and patient.
