The 23 Best Vietnamese Restaurants in Little Saigon, Orange County | Eater LA

"With just a few dark tables, regulars don’t come for the ambience at Ngu Binh. Instead, they’re here for mi quang, the central Vietnamese noodle dish made with turmeric and served with peanuts and rice crackers. The spicy bun bo hue combines a thicker spaghetti-like noodle that sops up the chile-infused broth. Ngu Binh also serves banh beo dia with minced shrimp and crispy pork rinds, a popular street food from Huế that is easily shareable. (Expect the steamed tapioca rice cakes to be slightly chewy.) There’s scant parking and often long waits, so be prepared." - Jenn Tanaka

If you’ve only ever had pho, let me introduce you to Bún Bò Huế...bold, flavorful, and yes, it’s gluten-free too! 📍 Ngu Binh Restaurant 16033 Brookhurst St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708

Google
The bún bò huế tasted not as spicy as I had thought it would be since I do not handle spice that well. The service was pretty quick, due to not many people in the restaurant around 7pm on a Wednesday. If you are planning to use credit card, they have a minimum purchase of $25 or more (don't know if they are going to change this in the near future) and the parking is free.

Bon bo hue is pretty good. Spicier than other places.

I've been here twice; the food is good, but the first location has a better flavor in my opinion. The service depends on the day's staff members; the first time I came here, the service was excellent. When my aunt paid the money for the second time, she said twice that she wanted to tip in cash, but the cashier (guy) kept asking her if she wanted to tip in card. When I walked by the restroom, I overheard them gossiping about my aunt. I knew they were talking about her because it was just the group of us that early in the morning.

Food is ok. Service is very nice . The only one reason I give 4 stars because me and my husband get allergie after we it.

Google
This place is an upgrade from Ngự Bình 1 restaurant. Spacious, great seatings and beautiful decoration. We got seated right away after coming in. The food we got here was perfect. I definitely get more toppings on my plate for Combo bánh bèo, nậm, lọc. The plate of veggies and herb that came with Bún bò Huế or mì Quảng was definitely fuller. And, my oh my I can never get over the mì Quảng that we had here. Rich and deep flavors with perfect toppings. Absolutely satisfied with the experience that we had here! The managers and workers were friendly. Also, they also sells chả lá separately for anyone who is interested. One more thing, they have very clean bathroom (definitely a plus compared to many other places). We will be back for sure if we ever come back to California!

I went this place on Memorial Day with party of 9 people around 7pm. We got the table right away and the food came out very fast. 10/10 for the good service. The staffs are so nice. I ordered Canh Bun & Bun Bo Hue no spicy. They are so delicious. The restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommend for small or big party. I will come back for sure.

Google
Good Vietnamese restaurant with a nice seating arrangement. Ordered the Bún Bò Huế, Mít Xúc Bánh Tráng, and the Bánh Ướt chả for the first time visiting. Bún Bò Huế: was robust but I definitely wish it could be a bit spicier in broth. I needed to add the chili to have a more spiciness as I imbibe the flavor of the broth. Other than the broth, the blood cubes, pork and beef slices were abundant and were the first to be devoured while eating. Bánh Ướt chả: was ok, the fish sauce overpowered the dish completely and made eating it too sweet in taste. Mít Xúc Bánh Tráng: this was definitely the best of the three and this dish would definitely be a good addition to what you order. The cracker that comes with it was crispy, and the jack fruit + shrimp was delicious with the fish sauce. Both the savoriness of the dish with the sweetness of the fish sauce balanced each other well. Fun fact: it made LA Times top 101 2023

Yelp
Food: Bun Bo Hue, 3 Item Combo (Banh Beo, Banh Nam, Banh Bot Loc), Com Suon Tom Rim Price: $14.95 (Small), $15.95, $15.95 Overall: I wanted to take my friend here to try some of my favorite Vietnamese dishes! We ordered the Bun Bo Hue, 3 Item Combo(3 different types of Vietenamese Dumplings) and Com Suon Tom Rim (moreso for my friend since she loves the rice dish with pork). Out of the three item combo, my favorite is the Banh Bot Loc! I just love the shrimp and pork filling and the chewiness paired with fish sauce. The Bun Bo Hue was tasty (a little on the salty side for me); my friend was afraid that it would be spicy but it wasn't at all.

Yelp
Sadly not a huge fan of this place. Came here mainly because dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area and not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants have that option. I went with my family (total of 5 people) and we ordered a a variety of noodle soups to try. The best one of all is probably the bun rieu. I was excited for the bun bo hue but it did not impress me since it was not too flavorful (mouth full of oil) and it wasn't spicy enough. Bun rieu on the other hand was super flavorful and tasty! We also go the mi Quang which was my first time eating it and again, it was also very oily. Services was good though. Attentive even though we were outside. The inside is huge and has lots of seating. Parking was easy for me as well even though the restaurant shares the parking lot with so many nearby restaurants. Overall, probably just a one and done for me here.

Yelp
My first time at this newer location. I really appreciate that parking is so much easier here. The interior is very open and has a brighter feel. We were promptly seated and placed our order right away since this is our go to for bun bo hue. I also had to get my favorite appetizer, banh beo. I love The freshness and variety of herbs that come with the soup. The soup overall was so flavorful, but I felt the blood cake didn't have any flavor. It was a hot day so I also got a soda chanh muoi which was also delicious. Can't wait for my next trip to OC to stop by again!
google avatar

Yelp
*UPDATE* Banh Uot with cha hue is a decent appetizer, but I really wished they added some sliced veggies (cucumbers and bean sprouts, etc) to really turn this into a nice, light meal. But overall it was still very good!

Yelp
I had family visiting from Honolulu and they asked where's the best place for bún bò Huế (Vietnamese spicy noodle soup). Immediately, this restaurant came to mind! There was traffic up here from San Diego, but it was totally worth it! Everyone loved the food and were very satisfied. Lots of happy tummies! The restaurant was clean and service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Great food and good service. We have come multiple times and have never been disappointed. When we come we are seated right away. Plenty of seating and plenty of parking. Clean restaurant. I always get the shrimp rolls and is one of the best comfort foods I get. We also always get the trio platter and never disappoints. My wife always gets the seafood noodles too. We will keep coming back!

Yelp
Favorite restaurant for bun bo hue. I like the vegetables they serve and flavor of their stock. This is their newer location. I like the location of it because of how convenient parking is. Usually I get abun bo hue with everything which comes with slices of pork, pork knuckle and blood cake. I also often get their banh beo chen (steamed rice cake) with crispy pork skin , green onion and shrimp. Theirs is pretty thick here and comes with fish sauce. Perfect for sharing as you get 10 which can be filling. Service is straight forward. Be ready to order and checkout at the counter. Service was very fast when I went most recently which I appreciated because I was hungry after driving in from a few counties out, yeah this is something you drive out for when you're craving it. Note that closer to this restaurant you park you will have more 1 hour parking slots and I did see parking enforcers waiting around probably to cite tickets (not a thing about the restaurant but just an fyi)

Yelp
This place has the best bun bo hue I've ever had in my entire life! The broth is so full of beef flavor and the noodles are cooked al dente. It has a nice spicy kick, and it was so good that I was tempted to order another bowl! I also got their banh bot loc (my all time favorite Vietnamese dish) which was topped with fresh green onions, fried onions, and fish sauce with Thai chilis. It was DELECTABLE!! Everything was cooked to perfection! 10/10 no notes! The food came out within 5 minutes of ordering, and the prices are so reasonable (my 2 dishes totaled to be about $35 after tip and tax). There's lots of free parking available in the plaza. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean. and has high ceilings. Restrooms were clean and nicely decorated as well. Ngu Binh might just be my favorite restaurant in OC!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant to eat BBH Bun Bo Hue. Everything from the broth to what's inside the bowl makes it perfection. I love packing it with veggies. They also have one of the best Banh Beos which comes in little dishes. I love this newer location as it's got modern furniture, larger seating room, and parking is okay as well. Service is good for a Vietnamese restaurant!

Yelp
Came back into town Cali, it's a very busy restaurant, got seated rite away. Food here specializes hue spicy noodles. Its very delicious but to me it's alittle salty soup. But that's my opinion, everyone has its own taste Services is like any Vietnamese restaurant. Ambience has alot of tables and booth, can come as a huge group party of 12 or less. I would recommend this to other cause maybe their taste buds are different then mine. But, I wouldn't come again
google avatar

Thuy Dan T.

Yelp
Came here with the recommendation to must get the Bun Bo Hue and it did not disappoint! Plentiful meat and toppings and the broth was savory yet a slight hint of sweetness. I especially loved the large piece of vietnamese meatball thing -- extra peppery and really good! We also got the Banh It Kep Banh Ram - which are large! A "steamed rice dumplings stuffed with spiced shrimp and pork and crowning fried glutinous rice cakes." They were large and filling. Carb loading for real, but was really tasty with a douse of fish sauce. I'm not sure if I would order this again, but it's definitely something to share. The place is airy and bright and clean, booth seatings are comfortable. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Place has great portion. Beautiful restaurant and great ambiance. Great service too! Food is delish as always!

Yelp
I always am pleasantly surprised whenever I go here. The space is clean and well kept in comparison to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants nearby. The service is always quick and there's usually no wait whenever I come but the restaurant is still decently busy. I usually get the bun bo hue here and the banh it ram. The bun bo hue has good lemongrass flavor and is filled with a variety of add ons like pigs blood, meat and more. The banh it ram has a good texture, big in size, but there's a little bit too much dough. Not bad though, still yummy! Def one of my go to bun bo hue spots now, but I will also be back to try other things as well!

Yelp
Sad to say, but I am still looking for a good bun bo hue place. I ordered bun bo hue at Ngu Binh and it was alright. The broth wasn't spicy like how bun bo hue is supposed to be. Even their satay was lacking in flavor and spice. What I enjoyed more was their combo appetizer plate. It consisted of banh beo, banh bot loc and banh cuon tom. I would've been happy with just the combo appetizer plate. Service was good and our server liked joking around with us. The place is clean, but I found the chairs a bit odd to sit in to eat. I felt like they bought their chairs on sale at an outdoor furniture store. It just didn't really match the space in my opinion. Which I guess gave the place more character.
google avatar

jasmine v.

Yelp
BBH is flavorful and we ordered without chili and just added our own, which really reduced the amount of oil. I also loved the3 item combo since I could get some of all my favs. Came here bc of an IG reel of the banh it kep banh ram and was curious. It does have about a 20 min wait time but it definitely came out crispy! TBH I only had half of one and don't see myself being able to eat more than one or probably ordering this again in the future. Rice on rice lol

Yelp
Overall: Ngu Binh specializes in dishes from central Vietnam, which is known for its spicy foods. Oddly enough, this restaurant's offerings weren't that spicy. This makes it a good place to try out if you're new to central Vietnamese food, but slightly disappointing if you're not. What We Ordered: I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (beef noodles from Hue) and my wife ordered the #9 Combination Plate, which consists of three different kinds of rice-and-shrimp appetizers (banh uot, banh bot loc, and banh beo). What We Thought: The Bun Bo Hue had all the traditional ingredients and looked authentic. Everything tasted good...but just lacked the heat we expected from Hue noodles. Even when we added their chilli paste, it didn't get much hotter. Meanwhile, the dishes in the combo plate were solid, but the banh bot loc wasn't as chewy as we're used too and the banh uot wasnt as firm as we wanted. Fortunately, the shrimp was plentiful. What We Liked: The establishment was clean and nicely furnished. Plus, the service was polite and friendly -- a pleasant surprise for a Vietnamese restaurant (which are known for inferior service). The Conclusion: If you're a hardcore lover of Hue food, you might be disappointed. But if you're new to central Vietnamese food (or Vietnamese food in general), Ngu Binh could be a decent introduction.

Yelp
I love this place. I usually order a large Bun Bo Hue, not spice, and with NO noodles every single time and the waiters always give me a weird look and then a big smile followed by the equivalent of .. Really?? Yes, really! The serving size is generous. The broth and all the different meats, pig blood, pig knuckles, and handmade hue sausage are very good here. Perfectly cook with just enough chew to be satisfying. I've had the other items on the menu too like the chicken rice and the various rice cakes and all were satisfactory. The avocado smoothie is delicious if you are in the mood. Parking is plentiful in this huge plaza and sometimes you have to just walk a bit, but that is ok.

Yelp
Ngu Binh is my go to place for Bun Bo Hue. They also have a great selection of dishes from Central Vietnam so honestly anything you order from their restaurant will be a home run. I like this location the most because there's more parking options. Even though it can get super hectic during lunch times I'm usually able to find parking. During their busiest times when all the tables are full the max I've waited is 10 minutes. I LOVE the Bun bo hue here. They have a regular and large size as well as a spicy and non-spicy option. I usually get the large, spicy version but beware because depending on how they feel that day it could either be really spicy or the perfect amount. They also pack the bowl with noodles and meat so I always have to get a togo. The broth always hits the spot where you can taste all the spices and the lemon grass, it really warms the tummy. The noodles are always the perfect texture of still got some bounce without being mushy. The meat is delicious/tender and their cha hue is definitely homemade. I also love how they give SO MANY banana flowers and bean sprouts because I pack that into my bowl. Overall you cannot go wrong with Ngu Binh at all if you want a homey meal that hits the spot everytime!!

Yelp
Visited Ngu Binh Restaurant for the first time a few days ago. It's located in a plaza with many other eateries. The parking is a bit tight but there are plenty of parking spaces. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu. The broth for both dishes is very flavorful and perfectly seasoned and they had a generous amount of meat. Love the variety of veggies they provide to add to the dishes. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Wendy C.

Yelp
I went to the other location before but I love how this location has outdoor seating. I usually order the bun bo hue with no spice. The broth was flavorful and portion was filling for a small size. Overall, the food and service is good. Dog friendly as well for outdoor seating!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid Bun Rieu 4/5 Definitely this place is better than other location on magnolia as they off bun rieu here! Very accommodating as being supplied with jarred water. Be wary of sticky floors. Was very full at end of meal as plenty protein provided and noodles cooked perfectly. Dipping sauce of mam Tom appears rendered.
google avatar

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Tuesday , the place was pretty much empty with only 10-12 guests. We got seated immediately unlike the normal hour-long wait at the #1 location.( Magnolia & Westminster this location is the same owner) They offer a good menu of noodle dishes from Central Vietnam, bun bo Hue, mi Quang, Bun rieu oc and various pastries We ordered Bánh Bèo , combo bánh nậm, bột lọc, It was delicious . Bún Bò Huế large portions, served with generous veggies and herbs , beef and pork meat was ok , I think if the meat more tender and more lemongrass for the broth then it will tasting perfect. The waiter was very gracious with the order, restaurant clean, quiet, with tasteful decorations . I like this location then the #1

Yelp
Amazing!! Great Flavors and atmosphere. I love this place. One of my top for Orange County.
google avatar

Rachelle F.

Yelp
So this place was not bad, and actually pretty good for some of their items. But in my opinion, I wouldn't make a trip out just for this place just because nothing really stood out to me to make the trip worth it. Also to be honest, a usual fav of mine to get (#15) was way too thick and chewy for me here. I was hoping for more shrimp like I've had at other spots, but here it was not as much flavor. The inside is nice though and definitely more welcoming for new customers. So if we're in the area, I probably wouldn't mind coming back, I would just probably try something different.

Michelle C.

Yelp
I went for the bun bo hue but cannot rave enough about the 3 item combo with vietnamese steamed rice cakes, steamed rice dumplings, and clear shrimp and pork dumplings. It's not something you traditionally see at other places, so I'll go out of my way to go back for those dumplings! The place runs like a well-oiled machine with a nice large space with good seating.
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
I tried combo #3 to try out the banh bot loc, banh beo, and banh nam. My favorite was the banh bot loc. The tapioca is not too thick and the filling is very flavorful. The banh beo is good too, but I wish it was a little softer. The banh nam was too thick and reminded me of banh gio... I also ordered the mi quang. This was good, but I've had better. I like when the broth has more of a pork flavor, and it was a little on the salty side. The soda chanh muoi is also really good. There's plenty of seating and parking, and the service is quick.
google avatar

Vy B.

Yelp
I love how diverse their menu is! Was craving banh it ram and banh nam, which is hard to find unless you're in OC or Houston. I love their BBH, Mi Quang, banh nam, and banh bot loc. Very authentic and well balanced in flavors. Their banh cuon was too dry (filling easily fell out) and their banh it ram was too big and crispy, which made it hard to enjoy unless you cut it much smaller (they do provide scissors). This is their newer location, so it was very clean and spacious. Servers were attentive and even gave us extra broth without us even asking. I always make a trip out here to enjoy a nice Vietnamese meal when I'm in Cali.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
on a cold day, a bowl of bbh does wonders and that is what I ordered! the broth was flavorful and had lots of meat, including the ham hock. the small size was a pretty substantial portion. service was quick and efficient. the restaurant was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful mural on the wall. overall, Ngu Binh is a great place for a lovely bowl of bun bo hue! :)

Yelp
I've seen this place all over instagram and have them bookmarked to try. Yesterday was perfect since I spontaneously took a trip up north with my son and it was raining. We actually went to the 2nd location instead of the original due to the commute. It was a pretty big restaurant and I saw a lot of older people dining in which I figured must be a good legit spot. Our waiter didn't speak much English so there was a bit of a language barrier. I asked for fresh chili peppers but he didn't know so I had to google up a picture but he was able to bring me out some lol. We ordered the medium sized bun bo hue and an order of the banh bot loc. The medium size was perfect for me because I didn't finish it but my son murked it and I thought the portions could have been bigger based on my usual spot here at home. The broth was flavored and surprisingly spicy. We like spicy! There was some sort of either 1 fish or pork loaf/cake, 1 blood cube (my son got 2), 1 pig feet, and sliced meats. It came with heaping portion of veggies for each of us. There were also extra condiments on the side of the table if you needed more salty or spicy and of course I did. I wanted the banh bot loc steamed in banana leaves but the waiter said they didn't have it so I got the naked version lol it came with a nuoc mam fish sauce did that was perfect. The banh bot loc could've had more fillings because I did not see or taste any pork, just 1 dried shrimp inside. I love how they added fresh fried garlic and shallots on top and were generous with it.
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Bun ho hue: it was pretty good. Noodles were fresh but broth tasted a bit salty! I can't handle too much spice so maybe more flavor was in the spice. 3 items combo (banh beo, banh nam, banh bot loc ) was really good! Freshly fried shallots. Warm bouncy steamed rice. Tons of flavor. Would buy again! Service was alright. Typical with vietnamese uncles as your servers. Great seating!
google avatar

Janie M.

Yelp
Big, clean restaurant with lots of seating, so there's no wait whenever I come. There's a good selection of dishes on the menu and I always rotate between Bun Bo Hue, Mi Quang, and Canh Bun Oc. All of which has a nice flavorful broth and good amount of meat/toppings.
google avatar

Erwin R.

Yelp
The bun bo hue was okay and could use some more spice to it. Doesn't stand out that much. The bun rieu was delicious and I would get again. The tofu and tomatoes soak up the broth and explode with tons of flavor. The presentation of the banh bot loc was nice. It had a good amount of shrimp filling and the dough was chewy. The fish sauce paired well with it and brings it to another level. Some people who try it for the first time may not like the texture though. Service was good for dinner time.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and it wasn't bad. We were sat right away, the gentlemen taking our order was patient and friendly. The food was good, no complaints. The restaurant was clean . Restaurant is big so there was plenty of seating . The 3 combo appetizer is perfect if you want a little bit of everything. The Mi Quang had good flavor and came plenty of veggies too as well and so did the bun bo hue. This place is good but nothing super amazing that'll blow your tastebuds away. A decent Vietnamese spot to fulfill a craving .

Yelp
Delicious authentic dishes, The service was good, polite friendly staff. The restaurant was spacious and clean. This is a popular Vietnamese restaurant with authentic dishes such as Bun Rieu Oc - What is Bun Rieu Oc? "A deep, reddish broth made from tomatoes and pulverized crab, poured over white rice noodles, topped with marinated snails and crab cake, and garnished with fresh herbs and leaves, bún riêu cua ốc is one of those Vietnamese soups that jumps out at you from the bowl." My sisters enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. See photos.

Yelp
Same same. This is the new(er) and bigger location to the OG Ngu Binh. I randomly came on a Monday and it was cracking at lunchtime. Luckily for us, there was no wait. My mom and I shared the following: -bún bò Huế ($14.95 for a large) -($13.95) I don't know what it is, but the BBH here slaps every. Single. Time. Sure, I've eaten a thousand bowls elsewhere, but this recent time reminded me how good the version at Ngu Binh is - it's aromatic, spicy, and has this depth of flavor with each slurp of broth. They don't skimp on the meat either - giant pork knuckle, sliced beef, cubed blood, chả lụa - it's all there. With so many Hue restaurants in the area, the BBH at Ngu Binh is one of the best. Don't sleep on their "dumpling" section. The bánh bèo chén is great for sharing. Normally I'm whatevs about the crispy pork skin that sits on top, but here, they're so crunchy and so generous in size. They added a little extra texture to every bite. Ngu Binh is still the queen of BBH.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
I love their original location in Westminster, so I assumed that the Fountain Valley location would be just as good. Unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered the BBH, and the broth was okay. It wasn't as well seasoned and flavorful as the original Westminster location. It tasted a bit salty too. I asked for no bone, and was still given a bone. If I'm craving BBH, I will just go to the Westminster location.

Yelp
Be warned, this restaurant is known for their spicy dishes from a region in Vietnam. Someone in our party was allergic to spicy food (she gets a dry hacking cough) so it was a work around to get her accommodated (#5 less spicy, 8, & 9). The friendly waiter helped with us to get our order in since most of us weren't familiar enough with Vietnamese cuisine, he was very patient. Also, since it was a hot day he seated us in the back where he said the AC was better, so nice.

Yelp
i loved getting the steamed rice cake for appetizer and pouring the nuoc mam on top. the bun bo hue was very flavorful, but i asked to leave out a few of the meats.

Yelp
Not sure if I want to go back! I have been to this place once for a dinner with my friends. We were so excited to order Bun Rieu and Bun Bua He and a few mini pancakes (I forgot the name). Our expectations were high for this place because this place is in Westminister and it's like one of the Vietnamese town in OC. The noodle soups we ordered were so blend. We wish the soups were more flavorful. The pancake was good, however, we didn't like much of their fish sauce because it was also a bit blend compared to other Vietnamese places I have been to. The place looks clean but I am not sure I will ever go back. PS. Most servers there didnt speak English so it was hard for us to order our food. They started taking to us in Vietnamese but none of us knew Vietnamese.

Yelp
Bánh bèo, or "water fern cake," is a popular Vietnamese dish from the central region, particularly Hue. These delicate, steamed rice cakes are typically served in small, round plates. Bánh bèo consist of rice flour, water, sometimes tapioca flour (optional) Toppings: dried shrimp, scallions, crispy shallots, and pork skin. Bánh bèo has a soft, slightly chewy texture with a mild flavor that pairs perfectly with its savory toppings. The dried shrimp adds a salty, umami punch, while the crispy shallots and scallions provide a nice contrast in texture. Bánh bèo is often served with a side of nuoc cham (a fish sauce-based dipping sauce) that adds a tangy, slightly sweet and salty flavor to the dish. Bún bò Huế is a spicy beef noodle soup originating from Hue, Vietnam. It's known for its robust and complex broth, rich in flavors and aromas. Typical ingredients: Beef (shank, brisket), pork (trotters, ham hocks), lemongrass, shrimp paste, spicy chili oil, and rice vermicelli noodles Herbs: (cilantro, green onions, another herb i frogot what it's called) Vegetables (bean sprouts, cabbage, banana blossoms) The broth of bún bò Huế is the star of the dish, offering a bold, spicy, and fragrant experience due to the lemongrass and chili oil. The soup also has a slight umami depth from the shrimp paste. The beef and pork are tender, while the rice noodles are soft yet firm enough to hold up in the broth. Bún bò Huế is traditionally served with a variety of fresh herbs and vegetables on the side, allowing diners to customize their bowl to their liking. Lime wedges and chili sauce are often provided for an extra kick of flavor. I am quite picky when it comes to these two dishes but I find Ngu Binh quite good. I also appreciate the ambiance here, open seating with nice natural lighting too!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try the BBH here for awhile, so finally checked it out. Also plus that they have outdoor seating since I had my dog with me. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue ($14.95 large) and Mi Quang ($14.95 large). The menu is pretty simple compared to the other location in Westminster. Even though we ordered large, it didn't seem that big as we finished most of our food. The bowls came with a decent amount of ingredients (4 shrimps, pork knuckle, 4 pork blood cubes, and various slices of beef). This spot is so well known for their BBH that I was expecting more, I suppose. Overall, it's good but wishing the large was bigger. The service was also a bit slow, but could also be because we were seated outside. Tip: Remember your table number, so you can tell the cashier. When you're ready to pay, go to the back of the restaurant instead of asking for a check.

Yelp
A friend who is local to the OC area recommended this restaurant for Bún bò Huế (spicy Vietnamese noodle soup) and bánh bèo (steamed rice cakes with mung beans and shrimp bits), which my boyfriend really wanted since he had a really good first experience. However, we came a taaaaad too close to closing time that they were sold out of their bánh bèo and bánh bột lọc (clear shrimp mochi dumplings) SAAAAD. Don't come two hours before closing if you're hoping to get some bánh bèo. BUT regardless, we were also there for their bún bò huế! The location that we went to is located next to Quán Mii Restaurant in the Fountain Valley Town Center. There's a parking lot with ample stalls around the center. Because they were out of the ones we wanted, the server recommended us getting two other appetizers: nem chua huế and bánh nậm. Nem chua huế was a reddish cured pork wrapped in banana leaves. I originally thought it was shrimp because of the color. The flavor was very unique as this was all our first time trying it (except the friend who recommended the restaurant) and very spicy as there was a chili wrapped inside it LOL. Very good though! It also came with a side of chả lụa (Vietnamese steamed pork roll). Yum! Bánh nậm was a Vietnamese-styled tamale but with rice dumpling and fillings wrapped with a banana leaf. It was flat in comparison to the Chinese version but soooo much flavor especially with the fish sauce. Their bún bò huế was really good! Very flavorful with a lot of proteins even for a small. I really enjoyed it! But the winner was actually the bún riêu. One friend got it, and wow! There was a ton of flavor and richness in the soup that I haven't experienced from much restaurants. I really liked how this restaurant had a lot of Vietnamese street eats that aren't commonly found in many Vietnamese restaurants. Will be back for their bún riêu and definitely for their bánh bèo as my local friend (and other Yelpers) highly recommend getting them from here!

Yelp
Second time here Both times the broth as salty as heck, damn This time they offered hot water to add to my bowl, wth, offered more lemon wedges as well So unprofessional Did they offer to remake it? Offered to comp our meals of 2 bowls? Net loss? I think not Both the cashier and the cook were shocked we complained the broth was too salty. Their eyes popped out of their sockets...sheesh The table next to us complained of the same issue...saltiness. The server came out with hot water in a pitcher to add into his bowl Unacceptable Disgusted I don't recommend this place Kudos for our server whom was the only that apologized to us which I told him it wasn't his fault but the fact the cook didn't come out, the cashier ignored us was all the reasons not to return here

Yelp
The bún bò huế tasted not as spicy as I had thought it would be since I do not handle spice that well. The service was pretty quick, due to not many people in the restaurant around 7pm on a Wednesday. If you are planning to use credit card, they have a minimum purchase of $25 or more (don't know if they are going to change this in the near future) and the parking is free.

Yelp
This is one of the restaurants on the list of places I always take people when they visit Little Saigon. My mom swears by this place for bun bo Hue. PARKING: The lot immediately outside the restaurant is a little small, but I've never been here on a day when it's completely filled up. I don't think it's too far of a walk to park in the adjacent lot if you have trouble finding parking in the one right in front. WHAT I ORDERED: * Mi quang ($13.95 for small) * Bun mit mam nem ($14.95) * Bun bo Hue ($13.95 for small) FOOD: You must get the bun bo Hue. Super flavorful, and in my opinion they really balance the spice well here. I will say that one of our friends who was not spice tolerant was really fighting for his life, but for me this was an average level of spice for bun bo Hue so I don't think this would be an issue if you've had bun bo Hue before. The bun mit mam nem was really the star of the show. An acquired taste if you've never had it before, but it fills you up pretty well for a dish that's primarily plant-based. The mi quang was definitely on the better side of the ones I've had. They're more liquid heavy here compared to some other places, though. I have more of a preference for thicker broths, but overall still pretty good. SERVICE: Super friendly, whether you speak Vietnamese or not - we had a mixed group. They jumped to push some tables together for us when they saw we were a bigger group than what was available. They also helped us through allergens since one of us was allergic to shrimp, so bonus points there! VIBES: If you've been to the other Ngu Binh location, you'll definitely notice that this one is larger and the aesthetic is a bit more upscale. Very family friendly and good for large groups. Maybe not first date vibes but great for catching up with a friend. BOTTOM LINE: Mom doesn't miss - this truly is a great place for bun bo Hue and one that I'll keep introducing friends to. I still have a soft spot for the other location, but great to have this as an option in Fountain Valley.

Yelp
Ngu Binh Restaurant is one of my favorite Vietnamese spots! I visited with my family and our dog, and everyone loved it. We sat outside and enjoyed a great meal with dishes like Bun Bo Hue, Kep Banh Ram, and Bun Rieu. My favorite was definitely the Kep Banh Ram! The service was friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This place is so good and offers so many different Vietnamese dishes! There was wait when we came on Monday around noon. I assume it's pretty crowded on the weekends. There is a large painting of Hoi An and it was just how I remembered it when I traveled there in June. So reminiscing. Overall, ambiance is great and I haven't even gotten to the food yet. We got the banh bo lot, bun bo hue, and mi quang. All were so good and reminds me of Vietnam. I'd skip on the iced coffee because it was too sweet and there is better iced coffee elsewhere in OC. FYI food took awhile to come out but I'd still return to this restaurant.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and everything was packaged nicely. Bun bo hue was okay. Meats were cooked well and it was nice to receive a generous serving of herbs and veggies. However, the broth was very lacking- bland with no lemongrass flavor. Banh beo was excellent- freshly cooked and tasted great without needing to soak in sauce. Will continue to search for good BBH.

Yelp
Been to this spot a few times now. Like it better than the OG spot because it's bigger and service overall is better. Definitely get the Banh Bro Chen as it's great for sharing. The Bun Bo Hue is pretty good here. I enjoyed it. It's not the best but overall gets the job done. Now the Mi Quang on the other hand was something that didn't hit with me at all. Maybe I wasn't feeling it that day but I wouldn't get it again. Overall food was great and service was fast and there is plenty of tables and seats!!! I'll be back for more Banh Beo Chen!!!
