NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa

"What's your first impression of this place?NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa makes quite an entrance, with a beautiful façade and courtyard that recalls the Florence of yesteryear. Who are you likely to see here?Smart travelers seeking a central location—it's downtown, steps from the Ponte Vecchio—top quality, and fair prices. Plus, lots of families. How's check-in? Standard check-in. All tech worked. Got it. Tell us about the good stuff—the rooms.Rooms have stripped-down decor: white with red accents, and contemporary elements. Marble-and-granite bathrooms are well designed and state of the art. Any other details of note?Wifi was solid and all rooms have a TV, safe, kettle, and espresso machine. Speaking of espresso—are there any good food options on site? What's the move at mealtime? There's an excellent breakfast buffet set up in an Art Deco hall, complete with with harlequin marble floors. An onsite restaurant fills in for lunch and dinner. Anything else we should know before booking a room here?Enjoy 3 p.m. check-out on Sundays; small dogs and cats are welcome; and there's paid parking and excellent express laundry service. Good intel! Why would you recommend this hotel to a friend?NH Collection is reasonably priced for the level of service and excellent location." - Erica Firpo

An excellent central location within walking distance of all major attractions, combined with stunning interior architecture and exceptional service, made our stay truly memorable. Our Junior Suite was spacious, tastefully decorated, and featured a comfortable bed. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast and had a wonderful dinner at the hotel restaurant. While not inexpensive, the experience was well worth it—it added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit to this fabulous city.

Google
Amazing hotel with a great location. Clean rooms (and large for Italy), big shower and comfy bed. Vincenzo at the front was very helpful and gave us a history of the hotel - didn’t know it was the oldest hotel in Florence. Have him tell you the story of the poppy seeds! Will be back here again!

I can’t say enough good things about NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa! My family and I stayed here while traveling with our baby, and the hotel truly went above and beyond to make our trip special. The location is absolutely perfect—smack in the heart of Florence, which was a lifesaver for us. We could easily pop back to the hotel for naps or breaks, and it made exploring the city with a little one so much easier. I genuinely think it’s the best spot you could pick in Florence. The hotel itself is stunning. The aesthetic is gorgeous, blending historic charm with modern comfort, and everything was spotlessly clean. The service was true 5-star quality—everyone was so warm and attentive. The doorman grabbed our bags the moment we arrived, and the staff made us feel right at home from start to finish. We loved the little touches like turndown service and the overall attention to detail. If you’re looking for a beautiful, central hotel with exceptional service, this is the place. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Incredibly beautiful hotel in a historic palace. The staff is very nice, helpful and attentive. The rooms have character and I had an incredible sleep. The international breakfast buffet also offers local specialties, the “pappa” is a must have. |You can see that not only the hotel is beautiful but is also very well taken care of. The location is great too. It’s very central but not noisy. |I am looking forward staying at Porta Rossa again!

This hotel made our work trip so special! The atmosphere and rooms turned out so much better than expected. Not forgetting the warm and attentive service of the team.

I was with a small tour group for three nights at the Porta Rossa. A hearing aid slipped out of my shirt pocket in the lobby just before we left for Venice. They found it, called our tour director, and quickly handled the shipping of the item back to the States. Now I can hear the other half of the conversation!||I was already impressed with the hotel, the staff, the food, the room, and the location before the hearing aid incident. The Porta Rosa is an exemplary hotel.

This is my best experience in Florenceand in europe. Well located, very good service and hospitality. The tea service is fantastic. The almond milk cappuccino made me happy every morning. The breakfast team is so kind that I would like to come back next time. Thanks to Tomasso, Gianni, and his teammates. Do not hesitate to ask the history of the porta rossa hôtel who gave the name to the street...

Great hotel in center of Florence |Staff is very nice and rooms are amazing we booked a large room which had very high ceiling. The room was surprisingly quiet despite being on the road. |Breakfast is excellent |All in a great choice when in Florence

Yelp
We stayed here for a few days in July 2022 and had the best experience. The hotel itself the staff mentioned is the oldest working hotel in Florence. You can definitely tell from the carved details the beauty of this hotel. It was my husband and my anniversary trip, which we noted in the reservation, and they gave us the cutest aquarium display in our room with a dessert. The hotel staff also gave us the BEST recommendations on restaurants and things to see. We (hopefully) did not run into any tourist traps while here. Lovely hotel - definitely recommend:)

Yelp
We were looking forward to our stay in this hotel in Firenze SO much but sadly our room in "The Grand Hotel" was anything but Grand. The location is amazing & the staff are incredibly nice (3 stars) but our room is in one word uglyBare bone walls, no full-length mirror, the view well you can see from the pics the overall feel of the hotel is "Haunted Mansion" with Ritz pricesBreakfast buffet is wonderful but having to request for our coffee (much smaller version) from the barrista made it inconvenient to have more than one cup. Other than the room though... Firenze is perfection

Yelp
This review is for their restaurant. I guess Italy is the only place where I LOVED a meal at a hotel. And the funny thing is we really just stumbled upon this amazing place. We were starving, it was rainy and just got off the train from Rome so we even had our luggage. The service was impeccable, they took care of our coats and luggage right away and seated us. The restaurant was peaceful and gorgeous. I still remember thinking "oh awkward we are underdressed for this!" I usually don't get impressed by decors of restaurants but the color and the elements and the layout of the restaurant somehow just gave me the relaxation I needed. We loved our entire experience but the highlight was the food. Every single dish was beautifully prepared and so so delicious. We fell in love with truffle here. And don't think we have had truffle that blew our mind elsewhere after (including Michelin two and three stars). I can taste the chefs mastery of the ingredients. No dish was overly complicated but each ingredient and sauce just complemented each other perfectly. You feel like you are in the forest where the food comes from. It's one of the meals I remember the most vividly, even after 4 years. Even on our culinary journey throughout Italy, this was a clear highlight. My only regret is we didn't purchase the truffle products here. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
The Grand Hotel Porta Rossa! Really beautiful hotel and five-star experience. What can I say, from when we checked in to when we checked out my husband and I felt truly special. We stayed here for four nights in Florence for our 15 year wedding anniversary. The location of the hotel is wonderful in walking distance of just about anything. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby, you can visit the cathedral, the baptistery, even the museum to see Michelangelo's David is in within walking distance. A breakfast buffet is included every morning and is quite extensive including cold cuts with prosciutto, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, some local Tuscan specialties, fresh fruit juices, as well as toast and pastries. Of course you can have cappuccino and espresso as well!! Excellent service with Matteo and Samuele at the front desk and Isabelle in the restaurant for the breakfast buffet.

Yelp
Mom and I stated here for a few days. Matteo, Francesca, Christian, and the rest of the staff were superb, friendly, and very accommodating. I'm so very thankful for landing in this hotel, it made our trip unforgettable!

Yelp
I love love this hotel! The history is amazing and location is great! From the moment we walked in the staff went over and beyond! We got a few great gifts that they left us to lift us up. I truly think this is the best staff I have ever seen! The breakfast hours goes till 10 on the week days and went longer on Sunday. The breakfast is a full all you can eat, and they have champagne and all kinds of juices! It's a great way to start your day! The location is amazing! You can go a block and you're at the river, shops and squares! There is great food all around too! I highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
We had the most AMAZING time here! David, the general manager, is just fantastic as is his entire staff. Such a lovely and wonderful experience and it seemed effortless on their part but I know they work their tails off to make it happen for us. if I could give more stars I would. Thank you, everyone at NH! Even your breakfast is perfect. The tower was a bonus, can't believe how great you made our honeymoon!

Yelp
This hotel is gorgeous, and perfectly situated for walking to all of the sites, food, and shops you could want. We stayed here at the end of our first trip to Europe and treated ourselves to a Deluxe Junior Suite... It's simply humongous. I think its larger than my entire apartment in upstate NY. The lobby in the hotel has some beautiful stained glass work, and wandering around it's easy to find more stained glass, frescos, and marble details. The staff has been accommodating, kind, and helpful. The small touches are lovely, chocolates brought to you each night before bed, a gentle reading light over each sleeping area, etc. reception is eager to offer recommendations and suggestions if you haven't planned anything yourself. The breakfast offers more than enough options to satisfy someone w/ different tastes (with lovely cappuccino, and even champagne). Everything is clean and bright (which is a pleasant surprise in one of Italy's oldest hotels), and the huge windows with internal panel shutters help you feel like you're getting the authentic Firenze experience. The only downside (and not in control of the hotel itself), is that it's easy to hear loud ruckus in the street as other visitors to Firenze make their way home after a late night.

Yelp
This hotel is gorgeous! The room was huge! The service was amazing! The breakfast was wonderful! Walking distance to duomo, uffizi, and all the other stuff you want to visit in Florence. Tons of food and shopping right outside the front door. The included breakfast spread was outstanding, and everything was very fresh. They would bring you fried eggs and few other items upon request at no additional charge. Staff was very polite and helpful. Room had two tvs even though we did not use them, and espresso machine.

Yelp
We loved the NH Porta Rossa, from top to bottom!!! I would not recommend or wish to stay at a single other hotel in Florence, even if I had no budget, because this hotel is so great. It is in the perfect location, has the friendliest staff ever, and gorgeous rooms. Try to get a room with one of the original frescoes - so stunning!! The breakfast is wonderful. The atmosphere here is incomparable to any other hotel here, it being so old and yet so modern at the same time. We were so happy with two staff members Riccardo and Anna, both were so kind and helpful. We started and ended our trip at NH Porta Rossa, and it felt like heaven both times!

Yelp
My mom and I traveled to Florence back in December of 2016. If you don't have a good sense of direction, the hotel could be a little tricky to find, as is everything in Italy! After dragging our luggage around the streets of Florence for over an hour, we were finally able to locate our destination. After finding it the first time, it's quite easy to remember. Once we arrived at the hotel, the concierge greeted us and offered us a glass of Champagne, which was much needed and hit the spot. Both of the employees at the front desk were very friendly and were more than willing to help us locate all of the good restaurants and piazzas, among many other things. From the entrance of the hotel, to the stairways, secret bathrooms throughout the hotel floors, to the bedrooms, this hotel was GORGEOUS. The staff was amazing. The ladies in the breakfast room were so sweet and attentive. I wish I remembered their names, but needless to say, they were all fabulous. The breakfast offered was the best hotel breakfast selection I have ever seen. Pastries, a wide selection of different fruits, deli meat and cheese, eggs and cereal, hot chocolate (the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted), and so much more. The one and only thing that I was not happy about was the Truffle experience that was highly recommended. This is nobody's fault but my own, as I had never tried an actual truffle (not the chocolate, but the one that grows in the ground), and I was not prepared for what I was about to taste. If you like truffles then I'm sure you would love the hotels restaurant which specializes in Truffles. It was an expensive lesson, but I learned that I definitely do not like truffles! Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this Hotel. I loved the beautiful hotel and the staff members were all so wonderful. The hotel fits perfectly into Florence's little Fairy-Tale pages. I highly recommend this hotel, and I know I will certainly be back.

Yelp
Very impressive hotel. Our suite is very spacious, clean, very beautiful. Employees are very nice. Breakfast buffet is included and is very good. It is located centrally close to the high end or designer stores. Lots of restaurants nearby. Statue of David is very close. WiFi is included, fast and reliable, never lost connection. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Location, location, beautiful location! The hotel rooms are modern and well-designed while the old exterior includes a tower dating to the thirteenth century. The breakfasts here are superb as you will find yourself lingering for one more coffee before starting your day. The hotel is located close to the river and within walking distance of everything you would want to visit. So, off to the Duomo or Uffizzi Gallery! We especially liked walking over the Ponte Santa Trinita to the Boboli Gardens and beyond. I need to mention that the staff was wonderful throughout our stay. My favorite hotel in Italy! Hope to be back someday...

Yelp
This was our favorite hotel we stayed in due our two week Italian holiday! The rooms, service, and staff were exceptional and always went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Noemi was especially kind and gracious and the best concierge we had the whole trip! Will definitely be back to stay!

Yelp
LOVED this hotel!!!! It was spacious, clean, charming, unique, modern although in such a unique, gorgeous building and THE STAFF...SO beyond nice, helpful and genuine to the visitor experience. We literally want to come back to Florence and this hotel just to have a chance to hang out with the staff again--always helpful, smiling and great energy with a passion for what they do and Firenze itself. Fabien (bartender): Amazing! We had wonderful late evening chats with this classy friendly and fantastic bartender, delicious drinks and appertivos, really made our stay sooo memorable! Every night we would come back to the hotel and have a night cap or a chat with him and it really made our stay better!! Valentina (front desk): lovely, kind, helpful and made our stay better with her recommendations! Anna (front desk): so patient with all my questions! Helpful, adorable, knowledgeable about Italy and very sweet:) Marco (manager): hello! Where can you go where the manager will sit with u after his shift and answer all of your questions about the hotel and Italy!? Made our experience even more personal! Very friendly. Highlights of the hotel are below, little things that were different from our hotels in Rome or Venice. (We are a mid 30s couple, 2 doctors, from California and wanted to have good food, decent tours and a genuine feel for Italy...) Few points: -iron! There is a room where you can iron your clothes (no other hotel we were at had one) -hot water, always with great shower pressure and standard shower size -soft, clean wonderful sheets (not hard stiff bleached like everywhere else we stayed) -vaulted ceilings -quiet, slept like babies -room cleaned very well and chocolate left at the bedside! Yes!!! Our things were just as we left them and orderly, safe -spacious shower with handheld shower too...and not complicated with 20 buttons/handles -so clean -quality furniture, amazing bed! -robe, clean soft -tv was just the right size -great mini bar and a coffee maker in the room -great bar, open late and so convenient for your before or after dinner cocktail -excellent internet wi-fi -doors were solid, heavy so very quiet rooms -never had to walk more than 15min for anything...or attraction or restaurant or even the SMN station, perfect! Literally 5-10min in any direction to our top sites: central market, duomo, 2 main plaza squares, Uffizi, excellent shopping, main bridge We stayed in room 505 and you will NOT be disappointed! Don't go all the way to Italy and stay in a teeny room without sleep and end up ruining your day of touring because you are tired and grumpy from a bad hotel...You have to stay at NH Porta Rossa :) trust us!!!

Yelp
This hotel is located in the center near the river of Florence. A fabulous hotel and beyond exceptional service. The premium xl has a balcony but faces inside. No problem as it's still a semi private balcony and great for late nights. The hotel treated us with Gatorade after our run and snacks. Chocolates and champagne. Absolutely wonderful and I wish we could stay at an NH the entire stay in Italy. Beautiful breakfast and dining area. Oldest running hotel in Florence with modern design which incorporates the original building and features.

Yelp
This was probably my favorite hotel in Europe! The rooms were HUGE. We booked the deluxe, but they upgraded us to a junior suite. It was divine. The shower was amazeballs and there was a soaking tub. The bed floated in the middle of the room, tall ceilings, oversized door frames that made the place look grand, and even stylish little chandelier dangling by your bedsize. The breakfast was delish too - scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, juices, yogurts, fresh fruits, they had even juiced up some healthy drink with kale and all that - for those that miss your juice diet. The location is great too, you are right in the middle of the action. Walking around outside the hotel, I would literally see a beautiful sight at every turn. It was fairy-tale like. The only reason I knock off 1 star was that even though they had free wi-fi, you had to pick up a username and code at the front desk. It was unlimited, but each username/pw combo only allowed you 100 MB of data which was so annoying if you make international calls, or any calls, over wifi, you keep getting cut off due to data restrictions. If the internet is free, and the pws are unlimited, why is there a data cut off? Makes no sense! I pouted and stomped my feet more than I usually do on vacation because of this.

Yelp
We stayed here before and after our wedding in Florence at the Palazzo Vecchio from May 5 to 10, 2013. The NH Porta Rossa Hotel is at fantastic hotel with wonderful hospitality and very nicely appointed rooms. It is a historical landmark, built in the 12th century, and is one of the oldest hotels in Italy. Don't let the old building fool you...it is completely modern on the inside and appears to have just undergone a refurbishment. The NH Porta Rossa Hotel is located just off the Piazza della Signoria square, very close to the Palazzo Vecchio (and the 'faux" Statue of David), Fountain of Neptune, Duomo, 11th-century Baptistery, Uffizi gallery, and Ponte Vecchio to name a few landmarks. Our room, a junior suite, was located on Floor 1, featured high ceilings with a beautiful fresco and overlooked a small street behind the hotel. Trust me, you want to overlook this street...not the "main" street where our original room was located. The hotel moved us to a new location due to major noise/partying from an "underground" nightclub. In spite of this, we had an excellent stay and would not hesitate to stay here during a future visit. TIP! If you're an American staying here in search of coffee at breakfast and you typically like half and half in your coffee, ask the server to bring you a cappuccino. It tastes better than the stuff they brew.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel in Florence. Breathtaking 12th century palace. Amazing room design. Great service. My favorite hotel worldwide at the moment.

Yelp
Great Hotel, Great Location ... walking distance to everything. The room was beautiful, big bathroom with enough space and an amazing breakfast buffet.

Yelp
We stayed at the Porta Rossa in November and it was outstanding in every way. The service is exceptional, location is perfect - close to everything and ambiance is gorgeous. Historic with a twist of modern conveniences. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to return! Five star!

Yelp
Great location, great hotel, nice staff and comfortable rooms. The hotel is located downtown, walking distance from everything! The staff is very nice and very accommodating. Free internet and the breakfast is very nice! I definitely recommend it for your stay in Firenze!

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 nights in Florence. By accident, we were put in a standard room (very small) at first due to a mix up with the hotel and our travel agency. The manager, Laurent, corrected the mistake by upgrading us to the suite after two days, which was perfect and much appreciated given we were there specifically to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Laurent checked in with us daily and apologized. We would come back to Porta Rossa just for the service Laurent provided. Very clean, charming hotel with great staff. Near everything you'd want to be near in the city.
