I don’t eat vegetarian food often, and when I do it’s not because of a special day but simply because that’s what my body feels like. So if I enjoy a vegetarian restaurant, it must really have something special. Du Yên is one of those places.
What impressed me the most was the way they present their dishes. Everything looks stunning. The flavors depend on each person’s taste, but for me the standouts were the Lotus Petal Spring Rolls, Du Yên’s signature fried rice in eggplant, and the mixed garden vegetable soup in tomato broth. These dishes are creative in the way they use ingredients and the flavors are very different from other vegetarian food I’ve tried.
Some of the other dishes like the Pansy Flower Spring Rolls, braised straw mushrooms with tofu, and the Vietnamese pomelo sweet soup were good but not memorable. The mung beans in the sweet soup were even a bit undercooked.
