The Best Restaurants In & Around Point Pleasant 2025 - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Much of the population boom of Monmouth County can be attributed to a significant number of New York transplants, but only one we’re aware of came bearing the gift of croissants. Nick & Sons is a well known Brooklyn bakery that operates an alternate location in downtown Spring Lake. The menu is simple, but overflowing with flakey croissants and bakery staples broken down by sweet and savory varieties. We love their ham and cheese or za’taar croissants, but suggest grabbing one of the rotating sweet baked goods, especially the cinnamon roll. And grab it early and fast—or you’ll only be left with the crumbs." - michael sinatra

We came across this bakery and decided to buy some chocolate chip cookies for the go. After taking a few bites, we immediately turned back and went back inside. In two days, we visited 5 times! We had plenty of cookies, Danish pastries, croissants, cinnamon raisin rolls, coffee, and an einkorn loaf. Everything we had has been the best we ever had! We have a picky palate, and Nick & sons surpassed our expectations and even blew us away. The bakers are easy to talk to, and it reminds us of old bakeries' service. The cinnamon raisin roll was outstanding. We never tried anything like it;* the fresh cardamon*, could eat 2 in a row without getting a sugar high or feeling uneasy. Even their coffee is perfect, the BEST of Spring Lake, and ideal for dipping pastries. Now I'm enjoying the 3-day-old Einkorn loaf at home, and it's just so perfect with butter and dipped in coffee. We look forward to revisiting Spring Lake to enjoy more goods at Nick Sons Bakery. Thank you for providing high-quality baked goods.

Google
Got some really tasty croissants here. The service was excellent. Like beyond excellent. Loved the variety of breads. It's a cute shop that does mostly breads and bakes on site. Great place to support if you are in the area or want croissants or breads!

Google
Fresh and delicious pastries. I got there at 9am and they were sold out of almond and za’atar croissants; I got a chocolate croissant and cinnamon roll. The croissant was still warm and slightly gooey in the middle, crispy on the outside. The cinnamon roll was good and reminded me of Swedish cinnamon buns. They had a soft brioche dough and hint of almond flavor. Everyone is super nice and helpful and it smells divine inside. Definitely get there early!

Google
The absolute BEST breakfast pastries around. The chocolate croissant is a household staple but the almond croissant is a personable favorite. Their bread is also delicious. Get there early because they tend to SELL OUT!

Was down the shore this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised to hear of the Nick and Sons bakery in Spring Lake! I had never been to the one in NY so was interested in trying it. It is located in the very cute down town area of the town and was not too crowded around 9-10 AM when we went. The outside seating area was very nice and the shop was small and quaint. Despite being out of many of the items that interested me the most(due to its popularity I assume) we decided to try some croissant, cinnamon roll and a few other items. These were very fresh and had good flavor. The croissant was very buttery, flaky, and probably the most delicious thing I ate. Prices are a little high, but you are definitely paying for the premium and also inflation. Overall a solid place that I highly recommend visiting.

Google
Got a almond croissant, it tasted liked solid butter.I was sadly disappointed. The best croissant is one that is filled with almond pastry cream not more butter, sorry.

Christopher M.

Google
Their sourdough is really good. So are their croissants, as well as the apple tart I had. Wasn’t a fan of the cinnamon roll, it was pretty dry and there was almost no filling and no icing that I could see.

Yaya C.

Google
Great pastries 🥐, my favorite was the Za-atar croissant. It was savory and crunchy.

Yelp
Food - the best French croissants imaginable Service - friendly and on point Ambiance - its a bakery Go here for the layers of goodness, whether savory or sweet you are in for a memorable tasting experience. Bottom line__highly recommended.

Yelp
Amazing Croissants and their Razor Clam with chocolate chips ( in Paris it's called Pane Swiss) delicious Best croissants ever had in America They sell out quick in the Spring Lake NJ store get there early!

Yelp
I was warmly greeted on my first visit today. Having eaten a pastry (for lunch!), and slicing up some sourdough for dinner I can say I'm torn between their savory and sweet choices. Fair prices, too, which don't reflect the Spring Lake 'tax' you often get charged in town!

Yelp
Very nice service. Helpful and patient Loved their recommendations! Croissants delicious. Great local spot, with option to sit at tables on the sidewalk or take it to go.

Yelp
I don't usually yelp, but these croissants are no joke!!!!! So Buttery, yet very crispy. I live in brick but will make the drive anytime for some of these!!

Yelp
It came highly recommended by locals in Spring Lake as the bakery that is "cleaning up" town, and they did not disappoint. The quality of their baked goods are out of this world. They only make a few selected items such as croissants, cinnamon rolls, apple tarts, baguettes, rye bread, sour dough breads, etc. The croissants here are by far some of the best I ever had. Perfectly layered and moist center with an exterior crisp that is divine. They do also make different variants of croissants with dark chocolate filling or ham filling that are both decadent and savory. It will be hard having croissants anywhere else without making a biased comparison.

Yelp
Didn't love the pastries here but the bread was lovely. The cinnamon roll type thing was dry. The apple danish was ok. Every pastry I had was just a touch dry. The sourdough bread was good and I would get it again. I made avocado toast with it and it was delicious. Apparently the croissants are good but I didn't get one this time. The place is quaint and the people are friendly. I'm sure the locals love it. I got it at 3.5 stars.

Yelp
We discovered this terrific bakery while on a work trip. The location is great - some seating outside to enjoy the tasty food and hot beverages in the morning. The croissants and tarts were buttery, flaky and baked perfectly. Our order was taken and fulfilled by friendly staff. Great way to start your day.

Yelp
I think this is a wonderful addition in town! Their croissants are delicious and they have a young team doing the check out who work hard to kept up with the crowds. Very nice people and great addition to SL

Joann D.

Yelp
$5.25 for a mediocre almond croissant. I won't be back. The checkout system is abysmal. They need to work on that also. No ambience to speak of.

Yelp
I'm do not have a sweet tooth, but I have tried every savory item on Nick + Sons' menu and none disappoint. I have access to the best bakeries in NYC daily, but I crave their zatar and ham and cheese croissants. I used to bring down baked goods from Zabars, Balthazar, Lafayette Grand (all very stellar spots) when I visited the shore on weekends, but I don't even bother anymore since Nick + Sons opened in town. Friendly staff and croissants that rival France's. Cannot go wrong here!

Yelp
Our favorite place in Spring Lake for morning pastries! The team that works there is always pleasant and friendly. Truly look forward to going and seeing them! The almond croissant and chocolate croissant are delicious. Their breads are also amazing!

Yelp
So the last time me and my wife were in Spring Lake about a year ago I got some croissants and they were delicious. I had to go back and get some but this time we were very disappointed. The croissants were so greasy and oily making them impossible to eat. Not sure if they changed their butter or just added too much oil or butter. Hopefully they will fix this issue.

Izzi C.

Yelp
The croissants are delicious. I recommend the za'atar croissants, as unusual as they sound-- you'll be surprised by the perfection. Great job guys.

Chris L.

Yelp
Sis and I found this wonderful bakery during a festival in Spring Lake. We made a special trip so she could pick up a baguette for her cheese snacks. I indulged in some croissants, dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls. After a few minutes in the toaster oven the next morning, the croissant was the best I've had in forever - better than many in France - so light, crispy, flaky, yum. And the baguette was the perfect way to sop up the gravy of my beef stew! Next time, I'll make more gravy :) I will be back! As we were shopping, a young lady was kneading and folding a tray of croissant dough boules (probably not the right word for that) - no wonder they're so good. I was told they only opened about a year ago. Wishing them much success

Yelp
Our real estate agent for our beach house recommend this new bakery and it did not disappoint. The croissants were so butter and delicious.

Yelp
So awesome to have an artisanal bakery in Spring lake. Everything is delicious and so high-end. The best cinnamon rolls and croissant you've ever had. The coffee's great too. Staff super friendly. And they often have music to entertain the waiting customers. Love this place!

Matthew O.

Yelp
I went into Nick & Sons last Saturday morning (10/14) about 8 a.m. There were a few people ahead of me -- two with children. Two young men were waiting on customers...one teen and one perhaps 21. They were both very attentive. And the older young man was incredibly nice to the young kids, asking about their interests, all the while keeping the flow moving. The croissants and other baked goods are terrific and delicious, but the attention that young man gave to customers while still maintaining efficiency was outstanding! He's a born salesman. There are other places around where the staff hardly gives you a hello, but this young man went beyond the call of duty to make sure customers received (myself included) their orders in a timely fashion and to make sure he was glad to have our business. The quality of the croissants et al is first-rate, but that young man's friendliness and outgoing nature give Nick & Sons an exceptional character!

Yelp
Does heaven exist on earth? Yes.... It does. Pure , buttery, crispy, flaky heaven is real and it's located in Spring lake. The wifey and I have traveled quite a bit and consider Napa Valley culinary paradise. If Nick & Son's were located in Napa, the store would have already been featured on Food network in some capacity. The croissants are HANDS DOWN the best we , and MANY others , have ever eaten. My number two? The coffee rolls! Soft, lightly sugared, melt in your mouth goodness that doesn't leave the guilt of an extra doughy Cinnabon. Please don't hesitate on the chorizo rolls, razor clams(daughter's fav), and the multitude of fruit and spiced pastries. I shed tears of joy after I finish one of their masterpieces. Finally..... the folks that run it.....THEY make the experience top notch. Rich and crew such incredible people. Good luck! GG

Yelp
Delicious! Their croissants are out of this world, so buttery and flavorful. They have some inventive flavors (think zaatar & cheddar, fig & rosemary) and also classics. Everyone who works here is so sweet too

Yelp
Best croissants I've ever had in my life! My mom brought them up for me and they were so good. Good croissants are light, flaky, and delicately sweet and these definitely hit the mark! Yummy and delicious. I can't wait to come to Spring Lake and get these myself.

Yelp
We had heard that Nick + Sons Bakery opened in Spring Lake, NJ and we were so excited. During our visit to the Jersey Shore we stopped in. We ordered an almond croissant, a cinnamon roll, a chocolate croissant and an apple tart. They were all delicious. My personal favorite was the almond croissant. They also sell great coffee. Take your treats home or have a seat at the tables out front and enjoy.

Pen G.

Yelp
Maybe it's because they just opened but not good at all. Pastries were raw, bread was burnt on the bottom.be Read was not edible, I threw it out. Their redeeming quality are the croissants, but still raw inside. They were totally unprepared for the customers waiting after they placed orders and paid and had to wait outside and were all complaining rightfully so. I have now been there 3 times and not much better each week. I wish them luck since we locals are excited to have a bakery in town. They definitely need to slice bread, I heard many compliments about that. I hope they make it. I'd like to see the, succeed.

Ava H.

Yelp
We come here every single Sunday morning, sometimes Saturdays too. We have never eaten something bad here. Such an amazing bakery, croissants are out of this world. Highly recommend! And their team is always a pleasure

Eamonn J.

Yelp
Went there this morning and shared some amazing baked goods with my wife. Everything was absolutely amazing including an excellent cold brew coffee. The Pain au Chocolate was perfectly cooked and had an incredible color to it. The croissant was definitely the best I have had outside of France - amazing! Also highly recommend the almond croissant - but they are so good you have to get there early for it. Would highly recommend this place as worth making a detour for.

K B.

Yelp
Delicious new addition to Spring Lake! Some items sell out quickly so plan to go early to ensure you get everything you want. If there's a line wait....it's worth it! Love their plain croissants, cinnamon rolls, and all their sour doughs p. Since they have opened I've been there every time I'm in town!

Yelp
I just had their sourdough and it was amazing! -- probably the best I have ever had!! Very fresh and the staff was terrific. Highly recommend this spot

Heather D.

Yelp
This place is the BEST! Friendliest staff ever--they walked us through each pastry, cut each pastry for everyone in our party to have a taste, and followed up with us to see how we liked it! And the pastries were incredible!!! Such a good experience, we will definitely be back!

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Best croissants ever!!! Cold brew was also delicious. Very friendly service. I had heard they can sell out of pastries early but I was there around 11 on a Saturday and they had plenty. Perfect addition to downtown SL!

Allison H.

Yelp
The croissant and cinnamon buns were amazing. Super friendly service and bonus: chocolate chip cookies!!

Danielle S.

Yelp
There are few things in this world that every time I eat it, I think "Holy Sh*t. This is amazing." The croissants are literally the best things I have EVER eaten. The buttery goodness can bring a smile to anyone's face. The staff there are incredibly friendly and they always have great music playing in the background! I have told so many friends and family members about Nick + Sons and they are constantly asking me to pick up treats for them in the morning. I honestly cannot think of one negative thing about this bakery. Do yourself a favor and get yourself some baked goods from here! Some of my favorites are apple tart, almond croissant, and razor clam, although I never had anything there that I did not thoroughly enjoy!

Jane P.

Yelp
Was on line waiting at another bakery in town, when someone suggested that I try out Nick's croissants. Got a plain and ham and cheese and they were really out of this world. Staff was also super friendly. Would gladly go back again.

Alyson B.

Yelp
Went to Nick and Sons and had the most amazing chocolate croissant but also a little of the regular croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, the almond croissant and a cinnamon roll! Really can't decide which is my favorite. Also, the coffee is fantastic. Wonderful ambience (they had great live music outside when we were there on a Sunday morning). The staff is so friendly and the service is great. What a gem in beautiful Spring Lake. Can't wait to go back next time I'm down.

Maureen B.

Yelp
I highly recommend Nick+Sons. The croissants are the best I have ever had. Nick+Sons just opened in Spring Lake, NJ. If you're a resident or visitor stop in. The customer service is outstanding. You will not be disappointed. By far the best bakery at The Jersey Shore!

Esme M.

Yelp
Best croissants I've ever had and their bread is to die for! I literally dream about these pastries and I haven't been disappointed. The staff is super personable and kind and I always enjoy going in the bakery. If anyone is craving a good pastry or slice of homemade bread- this is the place for you.
