"There’s always sidewalk chalk for the outdoor patio space (which conveniently is fenced in) and games, like Giant Jenga and Foosball, that the whole family can enjoy. But the red double-decker bus parked inside the brewery is the real show stopper here. Sip on the Hopthalmologist Hazy IPA or one of the other 14 beers on tap or a glass of wine and enjoy the laid-back vibe while the kids take turns “driving” the bus. There are light bites, like bags of chips, but there’s typically a food truck on the outdoor patio for a bit of a more substantial option." - Elliott Harrell

Google
Had a taste of a Vienna Lager and the Marzen, and both were not good. The Marzen had a huge amount of acetaldehyde. Also, don't like that they don't have any glassware at all, it's all plastic and Ball aluminum cans. Overall, not happy.

Google
Cool spot with live music (fri and sat) and an unique seating area (with the big bus). The beer selection was decent with some popular beer types as well as a few that were more unique. I got the stout which had an interesting kick to it due to the addition of some peppers. Overall a cool place to hang and to try some unique beers.

Anthony Edwards

Google
Outdoor seating & plenty of indoor seating. Good venue for listening to live music. On a 3rd Thursday, we listened to a very fun pirate singing troupe, the Motley Tones, who were fantastic. Beer & wine only served; no food, but people had food delivered.

Daniel Affeldt

Google
Bought a 4 pack of pacific plunge IPA today from them and got home and this is what came out of the can. Nothing like a greyish/purple head on an IPA to let you know that something’s wrong. Would not recommend. Not to mention there isn’t any kind of dating on the can. Very disappointed

Hannah Pile

Google
Friendly little brewery. Tried all their beers on tap. Definitely some tasty beers. Small bar in front, but large room in the back with ping pong and more tables. Dog friendly. Fridge with meats, cheese, and different spreads to snack on. Winner in my book.

Google
Visited this brewery Saturday night for the first time. They had a good selection of beer. The beer was very good. Best of the 3 breweries we visited that day. The service was friendly and professional. Will definitely be back to sample more of their beer.

Paul Wentworth

Google
Worth a visit. New owner's have made great improvements to the whole atmosphere including live music on Fridays. Still have the best tasting beer in that neighborhood of breweries. Owners apparently have even more plans for making this a great neighborhood, family brewery. I had the pecan brown ale, wife had the sour. Both excellent beers.

Brad Allmendinger

Google
No one there, which was maybe concerning, but ended up being nice since the friendly bartender let me taste multiple options before committing to an order. Didn't notice they had flights until after, but that would have been a good choice to try more of the options. The beers I had were solid. A food truck was on site and it was good also.

Joshua H.

Yelp
Lots of space to stretch and enjoy a few brews, wines, or mimosas. Tons of interesting games and things to fiddle with, with a sorta kitschy feel. Drinks for drinkers and non-drinkers alike. Food trucks roll through now and then it seems, and they have bands in sometimes. Tender was amicable and the service was quick. Prices were about $5 for 10 oz and $6 for 16 oz. Beer variety was a highlight! Easy breezy visit. Parking is sorta lacking, and you've gotta hope there's a space along the road.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Amazing brewery that had a large variety of beer and wine. They also carry Angry Orchard and I tried the sour cherry cider for the first time last time and it was delicious. They had a comedy event from 8-9:30 and the show was great! They have outside seating and games as well as outdoor fireplaces for chilly nights. They sell Brumate insulated drink tumblers, tshirts, hats, and other items in their retail store.

N Q.

Yelp
This daycare facility has everything--a double decker bus, games, a nice outdoor patio. It's fantastic. Very affordable for childcare in the area, and they even have fruit slushies for the little ones. We like coming here on a hopping Friday night while our friends are having fun at a brewery or lounge. Place is absolutely filled with the laughter and screaming of children. But jokes on them--they serve beer too? Who would have thought ?

Jake P.

Yelp
Hipster heaven in the city! The decor and vibe are great. Centered around a VW bus and a kiddie pool turned into a coy pond this place is unique, eclectic, fun and welcoming. Sitting on the patio it's hard to believe you're so close to downtown Raleigh. It was pretty slow the day I visited. All of the staff and patrons were respecting social distancing and masks. All of the staff and guests were friendly and smiling which added to the great beer garden vibe. For the beers I did a flight and enjoyed most! If you like a spicy beer the habanero Pilsner has a real kick! I also tried the coffee stout, black ipa, ipa, and chocolate stout.

Abby L.

Yelp
This place was pretty decent, somehow it didn't have a brewery vibe to me when I went, but nevertheless it was ok. The inside is relatively small. The service wasn't anything memorable, but not bad. The location is kind of off the map, but easy to find. The beers were fine, which is what matters most. I got a flight and liked almost all of the ones that we tried that afternoon. I would most definitely come back, because I didn't have a bad experience, just not a fantastic blown away one. There was nothing wrong with the place, and I think it has the potential to build a little more style. The atmosphere was overall average, beers good!

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
Beer is ok, average at best. The vibe of the outdoor area is a mess. Would be really nice on a sunny day if they had a cohesive look

Haley F.

Yelp
This brewery had the potential to be great, but we left disappointed. The only positive was that there was a lot of space inside, and a decent amount of tables outside, to enjoy some beers on a nice day. We have visited numerous breweries in the area, and the service here was definitely at the bottom of our list. We were not greeted when we walked up to the bar to order. Rather, the employee just stared at us and looked bothered that we were there. Unlike most employees at breweries, he did not make any suggestions or offer to help us decide (which we visibly needed because we were looking all over the board for different beers.) When we did decide on a beer, the bartender handed us our beers and then just stared at us again. There was no mention of the cost or opening a tab, etc. We enjoy going to breweries because of the staffs. They are usually upbeat and helpful and appear to love their jobs. This was not the case. To make it worse, the beer was not good either. It had a terrible smell to it seemed flat. Because of poor service and the beer, we will not be returning here anytime soon.

Jessica F.

Yelp
This is a great little spot to enjoy a drink & hang out on a late afternoon. The atmosphere is fun for the entire family. There is outdoor seating but the inside is the place to be. There is an awesome old Double Decker bus inside with tables on the top. Lots of large yard games to keep non drinkers busy. This brewery has totally clued in by selling something for non beer drinkers. They sell mimosas with lots of great flavors. This brewery definitely has something for everyone. Gonna be a number 1 spot for the Fall too.

Janet C.

Yelp
Some really unique seasonal beers on draft today. Really love the Almond Bros. lager (their Vienna lager with almond flavor- amazing) and Raspberry Wild Siren Sour Ale. The Blueberry ale was also nice, light and refreshing. Their other beers were very good too. Specials: $4 all pints on Monday, $6 flights on Friday, and $3 or $4 select pints on Sunday. Plus they have homemade root beer on tap, will have to bring kiddo next time to try.

Rose L.

Yelp
Nickelpoint Brewery is the quintessential neighborhood bar. You don't go there for the decor or because the atmosphere is chic and super swanky or hister-esc like some of these new places. Whether it was their intention or not, Nickelpoint is bringing in the neighborhood! One of the reasons might be the odd location of one of Raleigh's newer (but certainly not newest!) brewery; located deep in a neighborhood off Five Points. I'm an IPA drinker, and while their English IPA won't blow you away, it's definitely on par with other Triangle Breweries for quality and complexity. With a monthly dog competition (dogs gain points every time their owner[s] visit) where a dog wins the converted "dog of the month" award, this place is FULL of dogs of all sizes and shapes. Along with darts, giant jenga, cornhole and trivia once a week, there's plenty of entertainment. When the weather's nice, you can lounge outside on the picnic tables and grab a bite from the food truck of the night (every night BUT Monday--but they make-up for that with $4 drafts on Mondays!). I wouldn't tell someone visiting the Triangle to make this a destination spot, but for a local looking for a chill and neighborly environment, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

Ron W.

Yelp
A solid addition to the local brew scene, Nickelpoint does things a bit differently because it sits in a residential neighborhood in Five Points. Small tasting room, large brewing warehouse along with some picnic tables out front means there's plenty of casual space but not so much under cover. The crowd is a mix of hipster and professional (hipfessional?) which probably is a good representation of the neighborhood. On the night of my visit, they were doing trivia and I know Nickelpoint is actively doing weekly events to get a following. During our stop, I tried two beers and both were decent. Along the lines of say, Trophy Brewing, solid but not quite as polished as Big Boss. So great start, Nickelpoint! You've got a niche market in Five Points but will also need to put out some great brews to bring in people beyond the hood. Best of luck to y'all...

Zach J.

Yelp
Beer and environment were amazing had a great time with great beer. The faculty were friendly and inviting and very very helpful. We will definitely come back. Very kid and dog friendly.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my visit to Nickelpoint on Saturday, July 4th. A half dozen of us dropped by, with a few dogs in tow, to have some brews in preparation for the night celebrations. First, we gathered in the main room where we all ordered flights. Flights are available as tasters with each of the 5 different beers on tap for $9. Porter, English IPA, Belgian Golden Ale, Hefeweizen, and a Blonde Ale. After we got our flights, we went into the back room where all the beer is brewed. You wouldn't know it's a place to hang out with tables, darts, etc. unless you went into the door that led to the bathrooms. Then you open it up into a really large room. They should add a sign that that this door will also lead you into another room to hang out in. Seeing as we had dogs with us, it seemed like a great place to chill only it turned out to be really hot and humid, so we headed back into the main room as more of a crowd ventured into the main room. There we settled into ordering a favorite from the taps, snacking on the food we brought, and playing some games. It seemed as if the Ales and Hefeweizens were most popular among us. I really enjoyed the Hefeweizen. The bartender was really chill and friendly. Nickelpoint is extremely dog friendly. You're allowed to bring your dog pretty much anywhere within the brewery. They even have a contest so you can apply for your dog to get "Dog of the Month." It's nice to be somewhere so welcoming for dogs and that so many breweries are like that. I'd never seen a "Dog of the Month" before. It's also neat that Nickelpoint is such a play on words in reference to the area where it is -- just off Five Points in a neighborhood. You wouldn't know it's there. It's kind of off the beaten path, hidden among the houses. So, in that regard, it really is a hidden gem. To draw people in, their calendar of weekly and monthly events indicates that they regularly have food trucks and trivia there. Quite impressive. I'd love to go back another time!

Cole W.

Yelp
Visited their tonight, for an event. It was okay. Nothing too special. I could see myself hanging out there again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it. The beer was...meh and the parking wasn't the greatest but I did like the seating and ambience of the environment.

Lori D.

Yelp
Great little, but actually big brewery. My husbands band OLD PLAY has played here. It's tucked in an older chic Raleigh neighborhood, but the brewery has a nice laid back vibe. Great selection of brews.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Great brewery location for the locals that live in the Five Points area. I visited Nickelpoint when it first opened and one of the owners (I do not remember which one) was serving the beer and the experience was wonderful. I was out in the area recently and decided to stop by again. I was warned by one of my friends that the female bartender was rude but I go in with an unbiased opinion since everyone has their own opinion. I hate to say it but I have to agree, she was not friendly. I wish that they had the Vienna Lager when I visited but they did not have it on tap (I have heard great reviews about this beer). My boyfriend and I split a flight and my favorite beer was definitely the Belgian. We also enjoyed the Porter and Blonde.

Lana S.

Yelp
A group of 4 of us stopped by to try the beer. Good service, great beer and great dog friendly brewery with outdoor and indoor seating an plenty of games and clean bathrooms. The Raspberry sour was good, the IPA had a great bouquet and was not as bitter as most, and the porter was creamy.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Cool little taproom. Pretty chill, just nice vibe all around. Their chocolate stout is spot on. Dog friendly and air conditioned for the hot nc summer. Yard games in the parking lot.

Rebekah B.

Yelp
Great people, great local beer, good atmosphere! You can find their beer in some Lowes and Whole Foods as well! Ask for a tour of the facility for an added bonus! Highly recommend this spot!

Kim L.

Yelp
Ordered one pint of the lager here and it was good, but nothing super outstanding. They had at least 8 beers of different varieties, so there was a good amount to choose from. However, a good number were high gravity, which I was not looking to indulge in at the time. They were pretty dead, but I did come on a Wednesday night. The atmosphere was pretty basic with a tap room and a brew room. We sat in the brew room alone and there were a good number of picnic tables to choose from as well as a ping-pong table. I believe there was music playing, but overall it was just a quiet place without a ton of personality.

Anthony M.

Yelp
We stopped by here on a recent Raleigh brewery crawl. To be honest, I was not that impressed by any of their beer. It was all fine, but not remarkable. Everyone here was super friendly and it seemed like a nice place to hang out, but there is nothing about it that made me want to come back. I originally had it at four stars, but given that Big Boss and Lynnwood are close by and are places that have more enticing beers and are also fantastic places to hang out at, this place fairly gets a 3. I have nothing against Nickelpoint, but as breweries go it just didn't stand out for me.

Katharine B.

Yelp
I had no idea that Nickelpoint Brewing and Neuse River Brewing Co. are literally next to each other on the same street. We started out at Five Points for dinner and the GPS routed us through a residential area to Pershing Road. It gets a little industrial and as we approached the address, we knew we were in the right place when we saw people milling around outside over corn hole games and beer. After a quick drive-by, Nickelpoint was more dimly lit with picnic tables and a smaller crowd. Neuse River seemed bigger with a fire pit, a view of the indoor seating and a huge TV. We opted for Nickelpoint and I want to come back to Neuse River at a later point. Nickelpoint was really relaxed and casual. As you enter the tap room, there was a musician singing and playing the acoustic guitar and a few guests at the tables and bar. The chalkboard above the bar lists their beers and their ABV content and price. We had the English IPA and it was served in a plastic cup. I prefer glass but I think they are still growing and expanding. You can then follow the hallway to a large open room that houses the big silver fermenters. There was also a ping pong table, more benches and a level couch. You can play Jinga, ping pong, or just hang out. Dogs are also allowed and there were a decent amount of kids as well. The flags above the fermenters were from Scotland, Poland, Ireland, Germany, NC, and England and I think that is because of their emphasis on European-style beers. The overall atmosphere is very laid-back and relaxed. The bathrooms are super-nice painted in a vibrant NC State red. There is also a list of food trucks on their website and twitter page so that is a good way to keep up with the rotation.

Laurie J.

Yelp
Atmosphere was great very relaxing and beef was delicious!! Love the bus on the inside !!

Tracey G.

Yelp
This place was great. We have been to many breweries and this one was really cool! The bartender was fun to talk to, and although it may seem unrelated, the other patrons were chill and easy to chat with. Overall, we had a great time with great beer.

Matt K.

Yelp
Great selection of beers. I wouldn't call any of them my favorite, but I think they have a little bit for everyone. The taproom is a little less inviting than some others though. It is a bit on the small side. They do have a big outdoor area and also some more space in the actual brewery, but not many people hang out in either of those on cold weeknights. I'm sure their taproom is dog friendly, but since it is so small we usually don't bring our pup. They do have great food trucks come by often so that is a plus!

Kimberly H.

Yelp
Nickelpoint is an okay brewery, they only have had two beers that I enjoyed. Good place to check out if you are in the Five Points area.

Lisa R.

Yelp
My husband, dog, and I met up with some friends here on a Thursday for after work beers and eats from the food truck they had on-site. As former residents of the neighborhood ourselves, we had heard a lot about the place and were intrigued. It is definitely in a great location, in what I think of as the "warehouse district" of Five Points. Easy to walk or bike to from anywhere in Five Points east and beyond. On the night we visited, they were hosting a Run/Ride Club. There were quite a few people there but everyone had a spot to sit or hang out, either inside at the bar, or outside at one of the several picnic tables. We had heard they were dog-friendly, so we took our four-legged kid with us, and he loved it. A few other people had dogs there, including one of the owners (who happened to be very friendly and down-to-earth), so our pup enjoyed meeting the other dogs and getting pets and attention from everyone. Dogs are allowed inside, too. We also heard they brew root beer! I was very excited to try it, but unfortunately they were out during our visit. I am NOT a beer drinker myself--I had a couple though and they didn't make me sick, lol. Hubby and friends said the beer was good. The restrooms were nice and clean and stocked. The whole place seemed very clean and organized. It was neat to see the brewery equipment and vats in the warehouse--we didn't take a tour, but the doors were open so you could just go in and check it all out. Soft lighting and artwork made the separate bar area inviting. They have a cornhole set-up and a dartboard, if you feel like moving around. We just chilled and talked with our friends. All in all, it seems to be a great new little business, and even if you aren't keen on beer like me, you could still go and have a great time. The best thing going for it, IMO is the location. Five Points peeps now have their own brewery, and another great evening entertainment option within walking distance!

Susan F.

Yelp
We're excited about Nickelpoint Brewing. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and sampled their beers. Mark and Shaluka's enthusiasm for what they are doing is contagious. Currently there's a taproom and an outdoor space with picnic tables. Corn hole, other games and a food truck round out the experience. Future plans include a larger taproom. Mark mentioned that they also brew a root beer, so we are definitely getting in on the next batch. Overall, we all left wishing we lived in the neighborhood, but even though we don't, Nickelpoint is now one of our spots.

Elease B.

Yelp
Great hidden treasure in the Five Points area of Raleigh!! Beer is fantastic, friendly staff, and did I mention the beer?!?!?!

Mary H.

Yelp
Definitely worth coming here. It's small and doesn't have food trucks in my experience, but it's got some games, some indoor and outdoor seating - tho sparse, and most importantly everyone who works here is super friendly and welcoming. Also every beer I had here was really really good. Blueberry wheat, scotch ale. They brought out water for my dog without asking and had ample stickers and games for our toddler. And it's walking distance to brewing which is fun too! They should probably get some umbrellas for their seating - or bring sunscreen if you want to sit outside.

Virginia H.

Yelp
We'd never had a Nickelpoint beer before, but were lucky enough to get a glass at the recent Totally Rad 80's Yelp event. I had the Vienna Lager, and while I'm always a sucker for a good lager on a warm day (or evening, in this case), I was really impressed with the flavor. Lagers can sometimes be somewhat tame and boring, but that's definitely not the case here. The guys from Nickelpoint were extremely knowledgeable and were very helpful as they gave me the option for a couple different beers. Overall, a great first impression, and, as a huge fan of our local NC beers, I'm super excited to order this when we see it on a menu around town.

Christine L.

Yelp
I guess this place is about to close and I can see why the beer is fine but in this highly competitive beer scene it is about good beer and fun place to hang out! I think this place is missing a little of both. Sad but something to think about before you go out on your own and starting a brewery of your own.

stu m.

Yelp
Great new small brewery in Five Points neighborhood. The IPA is excellent. The brewery tasting room has a cool small neighborhood feel

Stan M.

Yelp
I really like the very laid back atmosphere and the neighborhood. The air-conditioned space is a little bit small, however but they have plenty of room outside or in the brewery. There's always cornhole and a foodtruck as well. They have a small selection of beers but its not bad given the size of the brewery and the styles they choose to make. There's nothing spectacular about their beers but they are small and new so I'll look forward to seeing what they do in the future.

B R.

Yelp
Nice, but small (cozy?) taproom. Nothing wrong with that. The beer was not bad at all. I had a second of their Brown, which is remarkable since most browns have zero flavor. There wasn't a lot of beer to choose from but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The bartender was friendly and the TV wasn't blaring so that is a huge plus in my book. I probably wouldn't go too far out of my way to get here but I'd go back if I were in the area to have a quick pint before doing some shopping or visiting a friend. If you're nearby, stop in and enjoy!

Amy H.

Yelp
Came here last week for the first time. We were there at an odd hour, 2:00 on a Friday, so the place was empty. I tried the porter and really enjoyed it. Excited to try their other beers!

Camden C.

Yelp
Awesome new brewery in five points. Mark and Shaluka are both great guys who are passionate about brewing and it shows in the beers that they have produced. So far, I haven't had a beer that i didn't love. The location is perfect as well. Very walkable for anyone in the five points or surrounding areas. The food trucks that show up regularly are also great. I've been going every Wednesday for the past few weeks to play in the cornhole tournaments and it's been a great time. If you haven't checked out this brewery yet, you are doing yourself a disservice!

Eric L.

Yelp
Overall this brewery has ok beers, nothing blew my socks off. We stopped here after landing from Colorado but didn't have one beer we loved. All of them are very traditional to each style but lacked a standout in my opinion. Nice atmosphere and good outside seating would give them a second chance if back I town.

Paul O.

Yelp
Patrick deserves a promotion. Best bartender ever. Very attentive and knowledgeable. The beers good and the atmosphere is good. Tucked away in a nice area too

Jessica M.

Yelp
The beer is average. They have a Relay Foods pickup night though and some good food trucks. They are also dog friendly which is a plus. They have both indoor seating as well as outdoor seating, so depending on the weather it is really nice. The atmosphere always seems friendly and inviting.

Suneth R.

Yelp
Great beers, great food trucks. Laid back atmosphere. The outdoor seating area is nice as well. I've taken my son a couple of times now. I hear that the red haired bartender is not there now as well. Looking forward to going back.

Coleman T.

Yelp
Went on a beautiful afternoon and enjoyed the large outdoor area. All the beers were very approachable and they had a good variety. Would recommend visiting when you can sit outside as the taproom and warehouse space can be limited.

Molly D.

Yelp
Good beer. Really liked the flight set-up. Lots of outdoor space. Family and pet friendly.

Alex Y.

Yelp
Really enjoy the quality and consistency of the beers. The atmosphere is totally laid back and the regular food trucks make it a nice spot for family drop in dinners.

Renee B.

Yelp
Visited Nickelpoint on a Saturday afternoon. Had a porter, it was decent. I understand that the establishment is dog friendly, but my husband and I were sitting inside, enjoying our beers and someone had their dog off their leash and walking around and sniffing and climbing on us. Not too fond of that. Also, there were people outside who had their small dog walking around on the top of the picnic table. Ewww! If I am eating and or drinking anywhere, I do not ever want to see a dog on the table. Would not go there again, unfortunately, a bit too dog friendly for my tastes.

Brynn H.

Yelp
This is a great place with a great atmosphere! The beer is great and they almost always have a food truck. Lauren is our favorite bartender, so if she's there make sure to sit at the bar!
