I may be biased because I live here at Date Palm Country Club, but my fiance and I love Nick's. The food is great and the atmosphere is so friendly that if you can't have a good time here, it's you that's not trying. It's tough running a restaurant in our community because of the seasons, so if any of you are here for the summer, please support this restaurant because we don't want to lose this one for our community and for our city. You won't be disappointed. Try their sausage and peppers over spaghetti, you will love it. Tell them Frank & Jackie sent you.

This was my first time here. I was excited to order food. Placed an order to go. I had to wait about 40 mins to find out my order was wrong. When the right food finally came out the presentation looked like it was just thrown together. The food was very bland. Chicken Alfredo sauce was extremely watery. Morzella sticks were very salty. The only satisting item was my Shirley Temple. Disappointed with the food flavor and not worth the price.

Eggplant Parmesan was very good. Casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. Not busy at all and plentiful parking.

Had a fantastic dinner Friday nite and enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting Kerri the owner. E. Billy Thompson was singing and always brings couples to the dancing floor. Be sure to visit Nick’s Bistro at Date Palm CC open to the public.

Went to dinner tonight at this place for the company Christmas party! It was a cozy little place with both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the pond on the one side! We had appetizers a wonderful delicious salad with two different pizza appetizers a margarita, pizza, appetizer, and a meat appetizer pizza! The main course options were lasagna, sausage and peppers and chicken, marsala, and all the food and everything was amazing hot fresh flavorful, and delicious! The service was superior and very friendly and they treated you more like family than they did a customer! I will definitely be back to this place again in the future as everything from the food service and ambience was amazing! It is a little tricky and hard to find but if you're willing to give it a try, I definitely recommend this amazing place! And big shout out to the staff for letting the company host their Christmas party here as they are normally closed on weekends, but they opened up for us to have a wonderful and awesome Christmas party. Thanks again.!

An absolutely fabulous dinner celebrating my son’s birthday…the location might be different…the name might be different…but the welcoming family atmosphere and Italian food are definitely a part of the historic Coachella Valley restaurant experience seen here once again…,Thank you Cari …we are so excited that we found our favorite restaurant again ❤️… Art and Vickie Peterson and family

A classic Italian family restaurant.. the new owners are from Nicolinos Italian restaurant that was on Date Palm Drive since 1985. Many great memories from that restaurant… hope to have many more at their new location.

First off, I wish this restaurant all the best, we enjoyed the food when they were Niccolinos in a plaza on Date Palm, now moved to the Date Palm Golf Course. However our experiences…… My wife and I had lunch after a golf game (dec 11)… food was ok, took awhile to make and there was only one other table of two .. that said we reserved a table the next night, dec 12 (a Thursday) for dinner. Got to the restaurant at 5:15, were seated, only others were a table of 6 already eating. Music was not soft it was mixed feed of soft hard rock, guns and roses. lol, we laughed because at lunchtime they play nice Dean Martin. … really, think about your atmosphere please… unless of course that is what you want to play …just not our choice. Our Waitress was nice, was clear she was new, she said it, and perhaps (as we found out) not fully trained in waitressing tables. We Ordered the house wine (cab sav) was good.. and an appy, mozza sticks, also good especially the marinara sauce. … we had also ordered our meals, lasagna for my wife and I got the linguini and clams with 1/2 order of garlic toast (they dont bring bread to your table. Well, wine came and then mozza sticks (in about 15 min), sipped wine, after 40 min no main food, by now 2 other tables of 2 people had come in, ordered and were served … ok so we now know there is an issue. The other waitress came and asked us if we were ok, and if ordering food … we said we had. she went to check. Our waitress came 5 min later to say the food was coming, blamed it on the kitchen. Food came (main meal 55 min after it was ordered), my wifes meal was warm only, mine was piping hot. Obviously her’s sat while they cooked mine .. I never did get my toast it was coming they said … I ate half my meal and they said it was coming still … told them not to bother. The lasagne was just ok, but the linguine and clams was very good. Well long story to say, mgmt needs to watch the room, especially a rookie waitress (help her, train her), and not spend time in the lounge mingling with clientele (and I know the owner knows what I am talking about). Mgmt did visit the table next to us of 6 people as they finished, obviously she knew them, but did not even acknowledge us … hey people do like to know you are happy to have them in your restaurant … mgmt 101. Well will we go back?, likely not. We are in town seasonally every year so will move onto other italian restaurants, as there are plenty in PSP. That said, try it out, hopefully mgmt reads (we are not blaming the new waitress, this is a mgmt issue,)and addresses their shortfalls so your experience is better than ours.

Yelp
Just lookin' for grub. Italian preferred. But not fancy. Found Nick's on Yelp in the PS area. It's a little restaurant inside a gated community. Like a place on a golf course type thing. Reviews good. Expectations, not so much after traveling down a narrow road and seeing a very plain looking little building. But road tripping. Traffic after Thanksgiving holiday. Tired. Hungry. Maybe hangry. Def not fancy. Family owned and run. Food made fresh when you order. Tasty treat. The hubs had sausage and peppers on a bed of pasta and he loved it. I had a dish I believe they're known for, their meaty lasagna. I wanted pasta. I needed protein. And it was delicious and meaty. The garlic bread was lackluster. But c'mon. Garlic bread. It was still tasty. We didn't order dessert because nothing on their dessert menu was calling to me. We were full with delicious grub just like we wanted. Served by a waitress who was a hoot. Both tended to and left alone just the right amount. Happy. I'd go again.

Yelp
I just moved to Date Palm Country Club, so was excited to try Nick's Bistro, a few steps away from my new home, for the first time. I brought two friends along, who were also excited to go to Nick's. Well, I can't rate the food or the service because the moment we walked in, the live "entertainment" was so deafeningly loud, we couldn't hear each other. We knew trying to talk over dinner would be impossible. We noted that no one in the dining room was speaking to one another. How could they, when the volume of the music was completely prohibitive to conversation? My friends and I left and went to the lounge at nearby Willie's Modern Fare and had a very pleasant meal and lots of good conversation. It's a shame Nick's Bistro would allow the volume of the music to be so uncomfortably loud. Who do you put first, your patrons or your entertainer? You could have easily halved the volume of the music and made your restaurant a much more pleasant place to dine. Are you a restaurant or a music venue? I'm not sure and frankly, I don't know if you know either.

Yelp
Fake Liquor. I'm drinking my Rum and Diet thinking they had to have Watered the drinks down. When we asked about the Liquor being questionable, the wait person said it's not hard Liquor, it's Wine based. Nothing on the menu says they don't have a full Liquor license.

Yelp
Great pizza great host !!! The only thing is that I wish they would deliver outside the gate.

Yelp
Nick's Bistro , formerly Nicolino's's did not disappoint... The service was great, and the three of us really enjoyed our meals. Which included sole prepared 2 different ways & sausage & chicken pasta. The wine, which was a good pour was also reasonably priced Looking forward to going back !

David B.

Yelp
The food was just OK. There were 4 in our party and everyone ordered something different yet the sauce appeared the same for all dishes. The restaurant itself is very dated and needs to be remodeled. The lighting was bad and it was dingy. Staff was pleasant but not very attentive and the server made 2 mistakes on our order. Sorry to say but I will not be going back.

Elena F.

Yelp
Definitely need to change name back to Nicolinos , Service is good but needs to change table cloth for more cheerful fabrics, Need to work on Bolognese sauce and better meatballs, E and P

Yelp
The ambiance is fabulous. Outside dining, music, family owned business and fantastic food. What more could you ask for???? Check the schedule for brunch and entertainment because it changes. Come on down and see for yourself.

Yelp
Surprised to find the location and name had changed. Been going there since they opened. Every year we would come down to Nicolinos to enjoy a great meal. Tonight we found the menu a lot smaller and what I loved not on it. My wife had the filet of sole and it was served hot but not as good. I had the lasagna which was super hot and tasty. We both had a glass of house cabernet. Happy to see original owners wish them all the luck with new restaurant. The setting for restaurant was very nice and service good. Prices very reasonable.

Yelp
This location is improved from the previous business when I last attended 4 years ago. Former owners of niccolinos (now closed) Music on fridays and Saturday nights. Another business that doesn't serve bread with their entree but the 6$ order of garlic bread was worth it. It was worth the wait. Not garlicky but not a crumb was left. I had the chicken Marsala served with a small serving of spaghetti marinara and a few sautéed peppers . I will have it again. My dinner companion had the lemon piccata not too lemony but loved it. I'm reserving a star because although servers were very pleasant service was slow and we had to wait to place our order.

Yelp
Excellent, Food was great! Friendly Atmosphere Reasonable prices, Large selection, Family place, Perfecto!

Yelp
We had snacks and drinks at Nicks Bistro in the Date Palm Country Club. Good food and drinks and exceptional service and we were treated like Royalty by the owners. We will be sure to go back again soon.

Yelp
I placed two orders of eggs Benedict and asked for extra hollandaise sauce. I'm glad I ordered the extra sauce, because they put maybe a tablespoon on the dish. The sauce didn't even cover the egg. At $15 + tax and tip, (my order came to $41 & change), I thought there would be a little more there. I figured the EB would be around $33 with tax. My guess is they charged an extra $8 for the sauce (about 1/2 cup). I had to wait about 15 minutes for my order even tho I called it in 20 minutes earlier and was told it would be about 20 minutes. They had one table with I got there, so there was one server. She did her best and was very nice. The room has an odd feeling to it, and maybe it's because there was only one person sitting at a table, plus the server, in the establishment. Just "felt" odd. Two Eggs Benedict: $29.90 Extra hollandaise: $8.00 *works out to $16/cup Tax: $3.51 Total: $41.50 Tip: $8.30 (20% gratuity) Just shy of $50, not including drinks

Yelp
Old musty restaurant in desperate need of sprucing up. You think with the nice view they'd keep windows washed. Server thought she was being funny but inappropriate. Shrimp scampi lacked any taste of wine or lemon. Shrimp not only overcooked but still had shell! (I mean who expects to have to shell your shrimp?)
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
The food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere was great and enjoyed the fact that we could take the kids without anyone looking at us funny. The kids loved their food too, wide rage of options. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We were so excited when we heard Nick's Bistro was the same as the old Nicolino's restaurant. We made reservations there for a pretty good size group. We arrived with very high expectations being that it was the children of Nicolino's restaurant running the place. The service was excellent we had a very pleasant wait person to help making the evening Pleasant. Especially after looking at the menu and seeing such a huge disappointment. Almost nothing from the old restaurant was on the menu. And to top that off an Italian restaurant with no veal and no meat if I wanted to eat vegetarian I would have looked for a vegan restaurant. Nevertheless I ordered a caesar salad with anchovies for my meal because there was nothing on the menu that looked appealing for an Italian restaurant. There were several chicken dishes if you like chicken some pasta dishes and pizza. I wish I could say the Caesar's salad was amazing but it was served in a very small dinner salad bowl they also do not serve bread with the meals. You can order garlic bread on the side if you want bread. To me this restaurant is just a huge waste of time. I know one thing I would never go back because there's nothing for me to go back for. Although some people might find something there they like. Again the service was good. But if you think you're going to the old Nicolino's restaurant don't be fooled Nicks Bistro is not the old Nicolino's.

Yelp
Great location. The patio had a large fire pit and overlooks the Date Palm Country Club. The menu had a great selection of Italian food and the bartender, Gustavo is a wizard of drinks.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fine dining experience with excellent service and ambience in an elegant setting, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Good food and good service and reasonable prices. Live entertainment on Friday night was amazing

Yelp
I went for breakfast for the first time. I do not live there. The wait staff so lovely. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was ok. I think momma spoiled me, I haven't found good biscuits and gravy anywhere. I think if that's what I'm craving I should make it myself. The hashbrowns were very good and I felt very comfortable dining alone there. Will definitely go back.

Fred G.

Yelp
NICOLINOS it is not . Service was pathetic . Learn how to make an Arnold Palmer . Third trip to the new location . What happened ? Good luck Mark .. there are so many great restaurants throughout the Coachella Valley . Frederick Gould

Yelp
Nick's Bistro ( with a dramatic view of the mountains) is not new to Catheral City. This family owned restaurant earned it's reputation after being on Date Palm for generations ( it was called Nicolinos) - thankfully when it relocated to Date Palm Country Club the recipes and desert favorites remained in tact. The mountain and golf course view - should you be seated on the patio ( and I recommend you do !) is more than scenic. We decided to return later this week for lunch ( and/or dinner), "food, service, ambiance" is definitely an "A".

Gene W.

Yelp
They have good food, good service, and a pleasant ambience in their dining area. Their bar area is fun and entertaining.

Yelp
Went Friday night about 7. Music was so loud you hear almost when u enter the gate. Not really. Was so loud the waiters could not hear you. No way to eat while it was playing. Ask to be outside. After about 15 minutes waiting had to go in and ask for service. Food was okay. Service terrible. We were not the worst table. Table seated before us was still not served when we were. They had been there a while when we were seated. They were livid. I don't blame them. Really was hoping for better deal in the park. Seems no one can get it right here They really need to get rid of or seriously tone down the music during dinner. Conversation is impossible

B K.

Yelp
Had not been here in years so when it became Nick's we thought we'd try it again. Went on June 25th to try it out with our neighbors. As soon as we got to the car, one of our friends said "and your thoughts?" I immediately said "not again". It doesn't look like the dining room had anything done to it from the previous owner/manager and that is a mistake. It was very slow with about 4-5 tables taken and a couple people at the bar. It was just sad. The staff were ok but nothing special. We didn't feel like any of the staff or patrons were enjoying their evening. 3 of our 4 meals were "meh". I did not like the Chicken & Sausage. I did not like the taste and it was the greyest meal I've ever had. It was supposed to have "pasta on the side" yet it was integrated in with the food. I normally love leftovers but I ate enough of the meat and left the rest. Also the bill was wrong as they intertwined the drinks between the 2 bills. Needless to say maybe I'll wait another 8 years before returning.

Yelp
five stars for the live entertainment. what a treat to stumble across Billy Thompson from The Drifters. he sounded amazing. his voice was as strong as it must have been in 1964. we stayed until the end of his set. the food was fine but the music was top notch.

Ronald C.

Yelp
I tried the Calamari, Lasagna and the Canoli's. Everything was delicious. Service was very good!

Yelp
Went to Nick's Bistro for lunch, and I have been a long-time customer of Nicolinos restaurant. So, I was super excited to try Nick's Bistro. Well, we ordered the white pizza ( a favorite), and we were told the first pizza was accidentally burnt and would be 10-15 minutes for a new one, no problem. The next one was not cooked, doughy crust, pizza was not very hot and very little garlic taste, very disappointed. Also, the silverware was crusted with old food! Not sure I will be going there again! So very sad.

Sherrill S.

Yelp
Had a great meal last night at Nick's Bistro, the pasta and shrimp were cooked to perfection We listened to the music and we're so delighted to have this amazing spot with a very diversified menu back.

Yelp
The breakfast and lunch menus are really good! waiting to try the evening Italian meals.

Larry E.

Yelp
Excellent food! Excellent service! And I meet some great people there every time! Love the outdoor fire pit.

Michael K.

Yelp
Had an awesome breakfast this morning at Nick's Bistro. The four of us each had a different menu item. From steak & eggs, blueberry pancakes, biscuits & gravy, and the special eggs Benedict. Excellent flavors, superb staff, and the ambiance was delightful. Thank you for a great time!

John C.

Yelp
food is awesome. great entertainment. low priced specials. love the hamburger night special and beers

Ron P.

Yelp
what a fun and strange location. the food was okay - the burger tasty and the fries nice. friendly staff. it's a bit old school and the view is vast, not exactly pretty but very interesting. try it but for golf course dining, i'd stick with indian canyon

Cecil L.

Yelp
I had breakfast there and I loved it. It was so good. I had biscuits and gravy and the works go there again.

Yelp
Beautiful views & reasonable food with friendly family service. We had the lentil bean soup, so delicious and the wonderful meatball sub. Can't wait to come back to try their breakfast too. At the cute and quaint public Date Palm Country Club and loved it. SUPPORT LOCAL
