First off, I wish this restaurant all the best, we enjoyed the food when they were Niccolinos in a plaza on Date Palm, now moved to the Date Palm Golf Course. However our experiences……
My wife and I had lunch after a golf game (dec 11)… food was ok, took awhile to make and there was only one other table of two .. that said we reserved a table the next night, dec 12 (a Thursday) for dinner.
Got to the restaurant at 5:15, were seated, only others were a table of 6 already eating.
Music was not soft it was mixed feed of soft hard rock, guns and roses. lol, we laughed because at lunchtime they play nice Dean Martin. … really, think about your atmosphere please… unless of course that is what you want to play …just not our choice.
Our Waitress was nice, was clear she was new, she said it, and perhaps (as we found out) not fully trained in waitressing tables.
We Ordered the house wine (cab sav) was good.. and an appy, mozza sticks, also good especially the marinara sauce. … we had also ordered our meals, lasagna for my wife and I got the linguini and clams with 1/2 order of garlic toast (they dont bring bread to your table.
Well, wine came and then mozza sticks (in about 15 min), sipped wine, after 40 min no main food, by now 2 other tables of 2 people had come in, ordered and were served … ok so we now know there is an issue.
The other waitress came and asked us if we were ok, and if ordering food … we said we had. she went to check. Our waitress came 5 min later to say the food was coming, blamed it on the kitchen.
Food came (main meal 55 min after it was ordered), my wifes meal was warm only, mine was piping hot. Obviously her’s sat while they cooked mine .. I never did get my toast it was coming they said … I ate half my meal and they said it was coming still … told them not to bother.
The lasagne was just ok, but the linguine and clams was very good.
Well long story to say, mgmt needs to watch the room, especially a rookie waitress (help her, train her), and not spend time in the lounge mingling with clientele (and I know the owner knows what I am talking about).
Mgmt did visit the table next to us of 6 people as they finished, obviously she knew them, but did not even acknowledge us … hey people do like to know you are happy to have them in your restaurant … mgmt 101.
Well will we go back?, likely not. We are in town seasonally every year so will move onto other italian restaurants, as there are plenty in PSP.
That said, try it out, hopefully mgmt reads (we are not blaming the new waitress, this is a mgmt issue,)and addresses their shortfalls so your experience is better than ours.
