Nick's Italian Cafe

We found this place after walking out of another Italian place where the menu didn't at all match what it showed online, and stumbled across Nick's. We were checking out the menu outside and Nick came out and told us about his restaurant, his favorites, and how he'd love to have us as guests. We sat down, ordered the chicken flatbread which was excellent, I ordered the Veal Antonio which was exceptional. The veal was cooked perfectly, seasoned to perfection, the breading was light with great flavor, and the aged balsamic on the plate was a great touch! My brother and sister in law got the tagliatelle which they both very much enjoyed. The service was out of this world, and the food was even better than that. This is easily some of THE best Italian food I've ever had in my entire life, if not the best I've ever had. If I was local, I would be here all the time, it's that good. Nick and his crew/chef's really knocked this experience out of the park! Easy 10/10 in every aspect! I highly recommend giving the Veal Antonio a try! Updated review: We went back yesterday, tried a few more things on the menu and everything was amazing! The menu changes seasonally, so I tried the loc pork chop and it was the best pork chop I've ever had!

Our group of girls had a nice dinner at Nick’s! The burrata with tomatoes, beets and apples was the perfect starter. I got the roast chicken, which was juicy and perfectly cooked. But the winning meal at our table was the fusilli primavera with marscapone cheese sauce. Highly recommend!

We had such a great experience at nicks!!! Everything we ordered was amazing and had great flavor. We ordered many different things for the table but what I really loved was the chicken. Since we ordered many different things I had most of the chicken boxed up because I was so full. Once we got to the car I opened the box and ate some chicken. I normally will take leftovers and leave them in my fridge until trash day. This was the first time I’ve ever ate food I took togo before I could even get back home and was still quite full. I definitely recommend getting a reservation here and trying a few different menu items as everything we had was amazing.

i only took one photo of our meal and it’s just the appetizers, however overall this was a great experience! the menu isn’t too large, but there’s a good amount of classic dishes to choose from. there are a handful of good options for non meat eaters too! to start off, we ordered the smoked salmon crostini’s and the burrata, which were both very delicious. definitely shareable if you’re looking for a lighter start. we hadn’t really eaten all day so we cleaned all of our plates! for our entrees we got the raviolis and the wood fired chicken. both dishes were beautifully plated and tasty! i felt the dishes were well seasoned and all of the flavors worked very well together; my singular note on the food is just that it could’ve used a touch more acidity. a squeeze of lemon or some added zest in the sauce would’ve made them perfect! compliments to the chef. our server, Nick, was super pleasant and clearly very knowledgeable about the restaurant. he was attentive and super nice; definitely the kind of person to go above and beyond for his guests. we couldn’t have asked for more when it came to the service! everyone was very sweet. desserts were lovely, no notes there! classic italian food with a lovely PNW twist. they have quite the extensive wine list and we were surprised to see they offer 30% off all bottles most of the week! if you’re ever worried about not being able to finish a whole bottle, just get it anyways and take home whatever you don’t finish. overall, this was a lovely experience and we’ll definitely be back to try more and check out their bar! Nick’s is a great spot for locals or those traveling the valley for a nice, laid back, tasty dinner out.

Loved it! Our meal was incredible. Our friends had the delicious garlic cream sauce gnocchi, pepperoni and house made sausage pizza and the Bolognese pasta- everything was was amazing and cooked perfectly. The pizza was Napoli style and they nailed it. My wife and I had the wild boar ragu pasta and the Veal Antonio. Both dishes were outstanding. I wish I had more room because the Braised pork cheeks that came out to the table next to us looked soooooo good. Must come back for that one! The service & server (Rachel) was also excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. We had a great time! Thank you

Absolutely love the food here. Friend staff every time. And the changing menu is awesome! This most recent visit I had the lamb shank. Incredibly tender and literally falling off the bone. We had the Zeppoli for dessert. Had to try this. Normally go for the Tiramisu, but wanted something different. It was incredible.

Nick’s Italian Café – McMinnville, OR We made last-minute reservations through RESY and the choice was absolutely spot-on. From the moment we arrived, the team treated us promptly and warmly, seating us at a perfect two-top. I asked our server if we could rotate the table to sit next to each other, and she accommodated without hesitation — a small gesture that immediately set the tone for the evening. The menu offered an incredible range of options, but we decided to go with the four-course dinner, which turned out to be a great decision. Each dish arrived beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, showing real care and intention from the kitchen. The front of house was run seamlessly by just two people, while the bar and kitchen — also with minimal staff — moved in complete harmony. You can see the kitchen in action, and it’s clear everyone knows their rhythm. The entire experience felt personal, professional, and genuinely crafted with pride. I don't know what kitchen witchery is happening back there, but holy moly the food is fabulous. The pork cheek dish, amazing. The tortellini, delightful. The burrata, divine flower petals of cheese goodness. The apple cake, butter soft beach to the lake of crumbly ice cream. Go eat here.

I attended a coursework at Western Oregon College in Monmouth, Oregon. I took a three month live in experience at the college, during the summer. The weather was warmer than I am used to I. Seattle and the produce more lush. I was in an immersive deaf studies program. Back in the time, the sign language for Monmouth was dry. As no alcohol was served at all in the city limits. So, McMinnville is close by and a highly rated restaurant. Had to come and try this restaurant. A short drive, through scenic wheat fields and vegetables. Cheerfully greeted in a rather isolated and obscure location among farmland. Started out with the appetizer of the antipasto board .Italian cheese and salami , crackers with olives, pickles, mustard and jam. Lovely start. We also chose the melon with prosciutto , olive oil and balsamic vinegar.The combination of flavors was so nice. You could mix meat, cheese, jam and mustard to make unique appetizers. We spent a lovely time, enjoying the atmosphere and appetizers. Next, They have an inexpensive array of wonderful wines to offer we had the Willamette Valley shea wine cellars Homer. Such a nice pairing with our food. Next, ordered theSteak, ribeye with roasted potatoes, chanterelle reduction sauce and broccolini. And, Pan caught wild king salmon with patty pan squash, green beans, cherry tomatoes and peach and hazelnut chutney. With, Tagliatelle, with wild Oregon forged Chanterelles, thyme, white wine and olive oil effusion. Finished with fresh ricotta , breadcrumbs and parsley. The freshness of the ingredients is what really stands out. The ribeye was prepared perfectly, Especially loved the sides of roasted potatoes, chanterelles and broccolini. The steak was tender and juicy. The sides were almost better than the steak. Rarely do I wish for only sides; these were exceptional. The pan caught salmon was so good. I love seafood and especially salmon. This was perfectly cooked. It came with a peach chutney, that highlights the flavor of the salmon. Oh my, the patty pan squash/green beans/ and cherry tomato medley added a unique twist to this dish. You could take a bite of salmon and have it amplified by the vegetable mixture included in this dish. Our pasta dish was the tagliatelle. I love mushrooms, so the roasted wild Oregon Chanterelles was not to miss. Combined with ricotta, breadcrumbs and parsley, this was a lovely dish. I could eat this for every meal. A incredible combination of flavors. My mouth is craving more. My stomach is feeling full and blessed. I'm reminded of attending dinners at my grandparents. We ate until we were beyond full. My head wants to order risotto. A summer harvest pizza. Ravioli with sweet corn and mascarpone. Delicious sounding items. Too full, but have to have dessert. We had an ice cream crepe dessert. Not too heavy and lovely flavors. Really recommend coming here. A total standout of fine food, in an area with limited choices. Guaranteed a great experience, both with service and food.

A very modern take on an Italian cafe, but it was clean and bright. However, the place could use some serious sound damping. The walls were decorated with alternating wood pieces that looked like they'd do the trick, but alas! The place was full and extremely noisy from all the table chatter. Service was very good, overall. My server was very good at checking on us. However,the Salmon Crostini had a miniscule amount of salmon flavor and the lasagna dish I ordered was rubbery due to what I think was over cooked pasta or re-heated pasta. The sauce was cool while the pasta was hot? Anyway, my wife chose the Fusilli Primavera and we both thought it was very fresh and flavorful. In sum, it was too noisy and the food less stellar than the price. I hope they can do better should we drop by again.

Very good food. I can't recommend it more. The wine list is superb! All the prices are extremely fair. The atmosphere is cute and welcoming. The staff were great.

The new Nicks is certainly not the original Nicks. First time in with new owners, spaghetti noodles were over cooked and soggy, meatballs were slightly burnt. Bread also over cooked. I agree with another review that they need noise damping. Not sure yet how I feel about the fact I could watch the cooks in the kitchen and the one with the baseball hat was continuously touching, wiping his face.

If you're in the area and want to put your inner sommelier to the test, this Italian gem is the place to do it. The wine list is phenomenal featuring both excellent local varieties and DOC-approved Italian classics and every glass feels thoughtfully chosen to match the food. The veal Parmesan was perfection, crispy on the outside and tender inside, while the gazpacho was fresh, vibrant, and unforgettable. We ended with a limoncello that transported me straight back to Tuscany. Cozy, welcoming, and full of flavor this spot deserves all the recognition it can get.

Nick's is a great place to visit whenever in the McMinnville area. Wonderful food and prompt service. I only wish on the weekends they were open a few hours earlier on the weekends.

This was hands down the best food I have had in a long time. 5 stars is not enough. The bartender, Brian, was knowledgeable about drink and menu options. I will be back!!

Ordered a Margherita pizza to go, went into the bar to not disturb the dining room. Female brunette bartender with glasses helping only one gentlemen at the bar with one two top and an empty room acted like I was inconveniencing her by asking to pick up my pizza and sent me to the front. My Margherita pizza was a cheese pizza with huge tomato slices and a few over cooked torn basil pieces. Had no flavor did not taste wood fired the crust was far to thick overall disappointing I had hopes for the reopening will not be returning, if you can't do something that simple right.

One of the best meals of my life, and I am fortunate enough to have traveled the world. The ravioli with sweet corn and marscapone in an amazingly delicate sauce topped with local peach slices was an unexpected delight for both the eyes and the tastebuds.

What a gem in Oregon Wine Country. Congratulations to the new owners who reopened this restaurant. My first visit did not disappoint. Great cocktails. Great food. Great ambiance and a remarkable team. Exceptional. professional, and friendly service. I have already booked a return to bring friends. A new favorite.

First time here. Remember friends telling me when I was new in McMinnville I must try the bar. Then covid and closures. Happy to finally get here. Great cocktails (thank you Nick) and good bar foods. Loved the Cesar, husband enjoyed the bolognese. We'll be back!

The food and service was great! The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. It was the perfect date spot for us and we managed to snag a table right after opening. While we were seated we did hear them turn people away as they had to hold tables for reservations. Aka make a reservation if you have to go there.

Good happy hour for food and drinks! The food at happy hour is good portions (pizza, fries and clams and others) and classic drinks were mixed right. We enjoyed a date night there. Never went to the previous place/previous owner's version so can't compare but enjoyed food and drinks there tonight. Pizza was good, it is more of a puffy/bread crust (not thin) and came with delicious garlic chili oil that was great to dip crust in. Attentive service!

Their pizza, over priced for the size, very salty, maybe it was the pickled onions and gorgonzola cheese combination? The crust was dry but chewy, how does that even happen? The Caesar salad had a furry anchovy on top. $50.00 for a small salad, small pizza and one cocktail, so not going back,

My sister and I met in McMinnville over the holiday weekend to visit our father. We ate dinner out for four nights. Nick's had the best combination of quality food and service. We all loved our entrees ranging from salmon to steak to artichoke pasta. The cocktails were on point too. Our server Brian provided the best service we had while dining in McMinnville. He struck the perfect balance between professionalism, friendliness, and engagement with customers. Thank you Brian! We can't wait to have dinner at Nick's next time we are in town.

Nicks just reopened under new ownership in the last couple weeks. Last evening was our first time back. We have been coming to Nick's since it started around 40 years ago, having loved every meal. Not so much with this lastest meal last evening, although we wanted it to be as good as before, sadly it was definitely not. Our hope was that with the new owners, that some of Nick & his mother Georgia's original recipes would still be served. We were disappointed. First, the famous minestrone soup was inedible. It tasted like someone spilled black pepper into it and all I tasted was hot black pepper. Then, the peas and green beans in the soup had a bit of crunch to them, which was not pleasing. The minestrone just did not have that wonderful flavor that it was always famous for at Nick's. On a better note, the Caesar salad was great! There was no complimentary bread served which used to be a regular delight. The Shrimp Scampi was good. The Bolognese was lacking Italian flavor and my husband, who is Italian, said he'd give it a 5 on a scale of 1-10; just "ho-hum." There is no pinot grigio on the menu. We were told by our waitress, that they are just serving Italian wines. Well, to our knowledge pinot grigio IS ITALIAN WINE! They offer lots of chardonnay, which we do not care for. I wanted to order my favorite dish, the spinach ravioli, which was always on Nick's menu, but sadly it was not offered. At this point we "might" return, but it was not a "wow" and there are frankly better restaurants in this lovely town in which we live. Before we left, we checked out their "back room" where they serve more casual fare. Sadly the famous hamburger was no longer on the menu.

Very disappointing. I've been to the original Nick's several times and the reboot needs a serious boot to get it going. The famous Nick's minestrone was pathetic - only slightly better than Campbell's soup. Cesar and risotto were fine, but not stunning. Cocktails took forever to come out and then all other other dishes, soup, salad and main, arrived all at once.

Wife and I came in for dinner while on vacation. Nick (not the namesake) was our waiter. He helped us pick out a nice local pinot noir which we really liked. Wife ordered the parpadelle with 3 types of mushrooms. It was a bit rich for her but I loved it. I got the chicken parm which was very good but the spaghetti underneath was more than al dente (hard in spots). Caesar salad to start was good, but could have used some more dressing. Chocolate Mouse was decent but uninspired. Service was slow, which is surprising given 7 tables were full while we were there. We really wanted to like this place given its history. There is a lot of good going on here, but needs some attention.

Pizza and pasta were delicious. The Cacio & Pepe absolutely wonderful- but the portion was quite small. This menu item definitely needs more of it with a couple of sides.

Service at NIcks has always been hit or miss, but you could always count on the food being great. Not so much on our recent visit. Risotto for me and short ribs for her. My risotto was much more like a soup; way over cooked. The short ribs, what there were of them, were good, but only one small rib along with a mass of fat and gristle. I think this will have been on our last visit to Nicks.

The staff were accommodating and the restaurant was inviting. My opinion is that for the price, this restaurant could be a little more generous with their portions...even being on 3rd street in McMinnville. The price also invites extra criticism. The pasta dish we ordered tasted burnt, even though it didn't look like it was. It was also dry/starchy/al dente ish but could have been better if there had been more sauce to absorb into the dry pasta. It was also saturated with micro greens that were not enough to mask the burnt flavor....still not sure where the burnt flavor came from. The pizza was ok...got tired of tasting and feeling the excess flour that was still on the crust. The steak was ok, and cooked to requested temp, but scant and basic in a space that insinuated it would be better. Would probably go back if invited, but wouldn't recommend it.

Impossible to order from. They don't do pizzas to go so ended up ordering a couple pasta dishes to go. Items were completely wrong. Veggie dishes that had beef, etc. Expect better from a place on 3rd street.

Nice ambiance, good food, lovely attentive waitress and I would go again. Good place to bring company but add extra time to peruse the interesting stores around there.

Food is terribly overpriced for what you get. Service could definitely use some improvement. If you are not a rich looking white person you will be treated as second class. Save your money and go elsewhere. I would never recommend this place. It's McMinnville not Portland. Quit trying so hard.

We went to Nick's on a Thursday night (when 3rd street is completely closed to traffic, love it) and sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We started with a bottle of Loire Cab Franc and it was absolutely delicious with the entire meal. For appetizer, we got the steamed mussels and they were to die for. The mussels were one of the biggest I've ever seen and they tasted absolutely delicious in the well balanced tomato broth. For mains, I got the tortelli stuffed with mushrooms and ricotta and my husband ordered the pork and spinach ravioli and they were both extremely delicious. We had the hardest time choosing a dessert as they all sounded amazing, and ended up going with the creme brûlée (came highly recommended by the waiter and we had seen almost every table order that), and we were not disappointed. The sugar was caramelized sugar had a nice bitterness which worked very well with the smooth vanilla custard. Overall, we loved dining at Nick's and loved the people who work here for their very honest recommendations of both food and wine.

Our first dinner back at Nick's after it is reopened. Salad was delicious crisp and fresh, pesto, pasta, flavorful, and white, and the clams and linguine were terrific. Highly recommended.

I took my grandparents to Nick's while they were in town after a previously pleasant experience. It was during the crazy heatwave and we were grateful that they were open. They had no AC that day which was a bummer since it was 100 degrees outside, but oh well, things happen. We ordered the rigatoni, the ravioli and the sausage pizza. The pizza had a nice flavor but was cold by the time it reached the table. The ravioli was underwhelming. The worst of it, however, was the rigatoni. It was bland, overcooked, and all around awful. The sauce was barely noticeable, very watery, and unappealing. Could've done better with a jar of sauce from the grocery store. Overall, 2 stars for the pizza and the bread service before the meal. 0 for everything else.

We walked in without reservations and we were able to sit in the bar area. I had a side dish, the cauliflower as an appetizer. It was uniquely delicious. My husband had the artichoke & there wasn't much to it, but tasty. Their olive oil is definitely one of a kind. The type of olive oil you'd find in an Italian restuarant. Surprisingly, my husband had the burger. He enjoyed it. I had the pork dish which showcased three types of pork, all delicious. The star of the dinner was their Italian margarita. I only drink margaritas everywhere I go and this one was so good and not sweet even though they add a splash of amaretto. We all taste 'sweet' a little differently,...I'm not a sweet tooth and rarely eat sugar or desserts. Hope you enjoy!

What a nice find on our trip to McMinnville. Very upscale Italian fare at fair prices. The restaurant is small, but here's a tip, you can sit in the bar/Italian deli next door, have a nice local glass of wine and still,order off the Nick's menu. The food is luxurious and all pasta is made by hand in house. We had the soft and pillowy ravioli gently stuffed with ground pork and spinach. Dredged in a subtle butter/sage sauce and dusted with Parmesan, the flavors were outstanding without being heavy. If pasta is not your fave, we had an amazing lemony game hen with charred broccolini. So succulent. The staff was kind and informative. Get a spot at the bar off the main bar that faces the street for great people watching. Great experience.

Having been a little too preoccupied with the offerings of other establishments on 3rd street last Friday night like wine tasting and live piano for example, we popped into Nick's a little on the late side- 20 minutes before closing. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess and I told her I understood that we had arrived a bit late and didn't want to put them out, given the proximity to closing time. She thought nothing of it and sat us right away with a smile. Shortly thereafter our waitress Johnna showed up at our table and pleasantly listed the night's specials and asked what we'd like to drink. We ordered a couple of Oregon microbrews as well as a Caesar salad, the spinach ravioli and their ostensibly famous crab lasagna. We were soon provided with some delectable homemade bread and perhaps the purest and tastiest extra virgin olive oil we've ever had. We felt bad for Johnna because we kept asking for more. And more. It was obvious she didn't mind in the slightest. Then our food came. Holy hell. How often have you all gone to a restaurant and been blown away by pasta dishes? We eat out a lot and have found it's challenging to have that experience. Not at Nick's. They've been open since 1977 and it's clear why that is the case. My wife's ravioli was beyond tasty, and that crab lasagna- fuhgeddabout it. It was the most flavorful and memorable pasta dish I've had at a restaurant in I don't know how long- I relished every, single, bite. Every last detail of our dining experience that night at Nick's was beyond reproach. The ambiance, the music, the help, the service and the swiftness, the quality of the food, - all of it- my wife and I can't for the life of us understand why this place has just 3 and a half stars...wtf??? We tried a couple other higher-reviewed restaurants in this town and they simply don't compare. Like I said, we eat out a lot and at the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, we do know what we're talking about when it comes to quality restaurants. This place is the cat's pajamas. And a big shout-out to our server Johnna, what a lovely lady and incredible server! We've already been recommending this place to our friends and family, and we can't wait to go back. Treat yo'self peeps!!!

Hours day open Weds 5-9 but stopped by tonight around 7 and it was closed, it was a Weds.

Pros:friendly waiter, good drinks, tasty chocolate torte (think almond joy) and the radicchio salad was good Con:main entrees were disappointing. I had the hen which was on the dry side. The vegetable was overly charred to the point where I felt like I was eating a cigarette. I ate 1/3 of the hen and then nothing else. My partner said his pasta was so-so. Overall we could've probably made a better meal at home but it was nice to get out of the house. I have had their minestrone soup previously which was good.

Food is phenomenal. Crab lasagna is soooo delicious! Amazing staff. Meghan served us this time and she was fantastic. Despite being the bartender, as well as the server for the side room, which was packed, she somehow managed to be incredibly attentive and personable. Also, Her cocktails are superb!

We visited Nick's based on the recommendation of our concierge. It may have been built up too much. Our experience was fine. They recommended the "famous" burger and crab lasagna. Both were fine but nothing extraordinary. It did seem like a good value $100 for our meals with a bottle of wine. After visiting with other locals they indicated this used to be a much better place so maybe adjust your expectations and it will be fine. It's good but not great and there are a number of other local options in McMinnville we'll try on our next visit.

Delicious food! As a vegetarian that hates mushrooms, I was a little concerned that I wouldn't find anything to eat, but they were super friendly and made me something off the menu that was absolutely amazing! I would hands down go there again the next time I'm in MAC! And the crème brûlée was to die for!

Great food and staff. Always a pleasurable experience even during Covid. One of the top restaurants on McMinnville's famous 3rd Street. Their Italian dishes are served to perfection. If you want the best burger in town, it's here! Yup! You read that correctly. I need one now!

Couple hours ago had the BEST restaurant meal I'd had in a long time, at Nick's Italian Cafe. How can you make ravioli dough (spinach ricotta filling, with sage butter sauced) so thin and light? This has been on the menu since Nick's opened 42 years ago, his grandmother's recipe. Excellent service. The puttanesca sauce was fine, the taglatelle and the breads. Were going to eat at another place in McMinnville, coming back from the coast, and there was Nick's, which I've been hearing about for decades. All the indoor tables were reserved, but was such a fine night to dine outside! Such a great dining experience!

Very good food in a casual atmosphere. The tagliatelle with ragu was delicious, so was the Dungeness crab lasagna. Good Caesar salad too. Helpful staff. Would return.

*** JBF America's Classic (2014) *** #7 *** 3.5 stars for this James Beard America's Classic. My experience was a lot different than that described by others (great food with bad service). I found both the service and food to be pretty good, and it was a much more upscale experience than I was expecting (white tablecloths to boot). The previous reviews appear to be mostly to be for the back room, which is more casual than the front, complete with a bar and pool tables. It is nowhere near being "divey" but more of a Buca di Beppo type vibe. If you want to enter the back room directly, you can do so from the alley, but you can also walk through the front of the restaurant (although it is a bit awkward to do so), which has its door on the main road next to a Mexican place (that was quite hopping when we walked by). We were actually a bit disappointed when we saw the white tablecloths and upscale vibe of the front room; we were kind of expecting a hole in the wall type place, a secret gem that the JBF had discovered. But we weren't about to let that disappointment alter our experience, so we moved on to focus on the food and wine. WINE - The wine list is out of control. I don't even know how many bottles of wine are on it; it covers the entire back of the menu. But since we didn't want to drink an entire bottle, we were very limited by their by-the-glass selections. With only 3 reds from Oregon available by the glass, those were the three that we tried. Two of them were okay and one was better (the Libra) but none could hold a candle to the Pinot Noirs of Santa Ynez. I'll have to keep hunting for a comparable Oregon wine. MENU - The menu changes by season and day. Ours was marked "autumn" and "Sunday". Some of the things we'd seen pictures of were disappointingly not available (dungeness crab lasagna for example). APPETIZER - These was a seasonal special, a mixed mushroom medley served in paper, that was divine. It could have been a smidge hotter (it was warm when it came out and cold by the time we finished it) but because I love mushrooms, this medley of various types of mushrooms was still wonderful. The bread is an additional $2 and you have to ask for it. It's served with olive oil and nothing special, but we ordered some to go with the mushrooms. PIZZA - The salami pizza was 5 stars. Up there with the best pizza that I've ever had. The salami is house made, and it is thin and cut like pepperonis on the pizza. It is VERY thin, Italian style pizza that is not greasy at all. There is just the right amount of chili flakes and parmesan to complement the salami, which is crispy but not burned. The pizza is perfection. We had a leftover slice that I brought home on the plane as a carry on and ate the next day for lunch, and it was still divine. MAIN - Our main was the chicken stuffed with its own sausage. I think because we had asked for our meal to come out in parts (appetizer, then pizza, then chicken), they waited to bring it to until we were done with our pizza, and it was barely warm by the time that we got it. Not sure if that's what took away from the dish, but it just wasn't that great even though the description had sounded amazing. It came with a small side salad that had chicken in it, and that was better than the chicken itself. Not a bad dish, but not a great one and I wouldn't waste an order on this. DESSERT: The profiteroles that we got barely had any ice cream in them (very different than the picture that I had seen) and were really just pastries covered in chocolate. Profiteroles are my absolute favorite dessert so I was a bit disappointed. Also, my bf had told them it was my birthday but they didn't put a candle in it or do anything special. Also a bit disappointing. It wasn't too expensive of a meal at $97 before tax, but the only thing that blew me away was the pizza. I'm sure that the crab lasagna is also spectacular, so I would come back for the pizza and to try that (if it is available) should I visit Willamette again in the future. I probably wouldn't drive out there from Portland just to eat at Nick's again, however. TIP: If you are driving out from Portland to eat here like we did, try to arrive in McMinnville before the Evergreen Aviation Museum closes... they have an amazing collection elegantly housed (including the Spruce Goose). Unfortunately we arrived after the museum closed, but drove down and took pictures of the Spruce Goose when we saw it from the road.

Oh Nick's, you have been wooing me for a good long time and now I have finally succumbed to the wooing, I dare say it was worth the trip. A friend once said to me, Nick's, you can't afford Nick's and neither can I. (I think that was said in jest) However, I found Nick's to be as affordable as any place in Portland that offered such tasty delights and winery choices. On this Saturday for lunch we walked in and were seated quickly. Nick's is a small place so I would recommend for evening meals, etc., that you make a reservation. However, we were lucky on this day and there was seating. We started off with a bottle of white wine from a local vineyard in the Yamhill county area. The name escapes me right now but I have a picture, which I will post. It was nicely priced for wine that you obtain in a restaurant. We both elected to have a salad and then share a Gorgonzola and pear pizza. Oh my word, the first bite was delicious, I could not believe the flavor paring was so delicious. Coupled with the white wine it was wonderful. Service was quick and prompt and they mentioned they have what they call the Back Room for cocktails and such in the evenings. Nice little bar atmosphere for those wanting a libation in the evenings. All in all worth the trip and under $90 for two for lunch. This is not a Subway folks but it's very tasty. Located directly across from the Crescent Cafe you really cannot go wrong. I'll definitely be back to enjoy this top drawer establishment.

The food and service is excellent at this restaurant. It is located in a good spot on 3rd Street and we enjoy going to this restaurant on special occassions.

We had the opportunity to dine at Nicks and thoroughly enjoyed our evening! For many years we drove by the restaurant and never ate there - one day we decided to make reservations and dine and we were pleasantly surprise! I was expecting a typical Italian restaurant that was opened in the 70's. What we found was quite the contrary. The food is quite refined - had the mussels, cooked to perfection - radicchio salad which had great flavor - two of the four pastas ( ravioli and sausage/spinach and tortelli with shiitake mushrooms. So delicious!! All pastas are homemade. Finished with a killer flourless chocolate cake. Our server was quite professional, calm and friendly. On a side note - service was a little slow as Mc Minnville is still recovering- so give them a break! Thanks for a great evening Nick's.

Not bad, but not good. Probably better choices but it sufficed. The service wasn't as bad as many of the other reviews made it out to be. But it was a little off. Our waitress was kind of dipsey and forgetful but she hustled. The food looked nice but was bland, bland, bland. I started with 1/2 dozen raw oysters which had horrible texture and taste. I only ate 2 and they kindly removed them from the bill although I didn't request it. My wife had tagliatelle which was cooked right but the sauce was bland and watery. I had a pizza with anchovies that, except for the anchovy flavor, was quite boring and bland too. Skip it.

Only 3 in order Tortellini in brodo was fresh and tasty Hanger steak $28 small piece of meat WIGB? No Small portions. High prices. Slow kitchen. Lacking in staff and service.

Honestly, the food was the problem here. Which for a restaurant is not a good thing. There wasn't quite enough of the ravioli - and I struggled to find the pork. The charred broccoli rabe was so incredibly bitter it was practically inedible. The service was good and my water remained filled, but based on the food I would not come back here.

Great meal for the four of us. We spent a very leisurely dinner there, ordering one course at a time, and service and timing was excellent. Every dish was very good, the olives, Caesar, mussels, game hen, tagliatelle, and pork, but the stand out to me was the ravioli. After spending a year of my life making commercial pasta, I know a great hand rolled dish when I see one, and indeed it is delicious. This was the third time eating here for me, I visit McMinnville once a year, and two of my companions eat there regularly, and give the 'everything on the menu is great' recommendation.
