Nick's Original House Of Pancakes

Old diner vibe, but clean and updated (sort of like what Waffle House really needs to do.) I fairness, we did not get the pancakes; however, my breakfast bowl, which included homemade corned beef was a little bland for my tastes and the hashbrowns at the bottom were mushy and without the crispy edge of well done hashbrowns. My wife's omelet was better. If you want super fast service in a bright clean, yet still old school diner, it is worth stopping by. Even though it was busy, they flipped tables fast.

I don’t know Nick. But I want to. I want to thank him for the excellent cinnamon pancakes I had during my visit to his restaurant. This is exactly the place you want to be for a Saturday morning breakfast. Came here at the crack of 11:15 AM. Good service, lots of space, lots of food options. I don’t know how else to describe it other than with three photos. I’m already excited to go back. My mouth is starting to water just writing this review.

My husband and I went here for breakfast. I have a dairy allergy, and this was my first experience at ANY diner where it felt like the staff did not care or take it seriously. We had to ask if each individual item had any dairy or was cooked in dairy, because the waitress wouldn't mention dairy in any of the items on her own, even after we both highlighted my allergy and asked if certain items had dairy. I can usually get eggs with hash browns, fries, or toast at a diner, but everything was cooked in butter here. After ordering, I also had to send an item back as the kitchen added cheese to my food, which I can't eat. My club was fine, but not worth the trouble. The waitress got my husband's order wrong as it was supposed to come with pancakes instead of hash browns. After we pointed it out, she just took his plate without an apology, so he was left sitting there with no food. They could've just brought the pancakes out and let him eat the eggs, toast, and ham since he wasn't interested in the hash browns. Once he got his food the second time, my husband said his pancakes, eggs, and ham were bland. The pancakes were a bit burnt and rubbery on one side, and they didn't give him his toast. We heard good things about this place, so our experience was a big disappointment. We won't be back.

The place to go for amazing breakfast food! The pancakes were super fluffy, eggs were cooked perfectly to order, and the hash browns were creamy and crispy. My friends and I had a wonderful brunch here!

Ordered pancakes for breakfast, that’s literally the whole breakfast no sides or egg options available as a meal.. so I ordered biscuits and gravy too. The pancakes were so bland and tasteless, same for the gravy. Each item was $10, mind you tbe pancakes were 3 for 10 or 2 for 9??!! My partner ordered her waffle and added a side of gravy ONE egg and my son got a waffle and a side Of bacon. Bill was $77 for a very disappointing breakfast. Will Never come Back here again

What a wonderful breakfast spot! Fabulous pancakes, home fries, etc with attentive service in a beautiful, spotless venue. I called months after my visit to get a copy of my receipt in reconciling my expenses and the woman who answered couldn’t have been more helpful. I’ll be back when I next visit central Michigan!

Saturday morning wait time..less than 5mins. Amazing breakfast. Cinnamon pancakes were awesome. Courteous staff. Will visit again.

The food was delicious, presented beautifully, and the service was excellent. We had a large party and everyone's order was correct and the food was hot. I'll definitely return. Candice was very polite and efficient. I love a place where the food and service are outstanding!

They have NO Gluten-free options. The others in our party, said the pancakes were very good. Service was attentive and prompt.

We were looking for Sunday brunch for our group of 5 and came across this establishment. Parking lot was full which is a favorable indicator that the food must be good. It didn't disappoint. The breakfast bowls were tasty and filling. The chocolate chip pancakes are really good. Nick's Club sandwich was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend for brunch!

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Ann Arbor by far. Portions are abundant and the waitresses are always attentive. This is a place to get your classic breakfasts and there's always something unique on the "specials" menu for the holidays and/or season. I love the location of Nicks, and there's always ample, easy parking! Sometimes the A/C is a bit low, so bring an extra layer if you get cold easily.

Nick's never disappoints! The banana pecan pancakes are soft and tasty, not greasy and fried tasting like so many other places. Nick's is one place that I'll really miss from Ann Arbor.

Busy place on weekends, but they work hard to get people through. Great service. Tentative, fast, yet personable too. I always get a breakfast bowl / scramble when I go. The perfect amount of food where I leave full, yet I don't leave any leftovers either.

My family loved dining at Nicks. The Mickey Mouse pancake was a hit with the little ones, and it was delicious! We got the specials, which were also wonderful. Would recommend. Easy going atmosphere, tasty food.

Beautiful. This is what diners should all be like. Excellent food, hot coffee, good service. And you can get it all when they are incredibly busy. The blueberry lemon pancakes are a flavor explosion. I had to go with these since they are a house of pancakes, but next on my list is the pecan waffle. As far as savory items go, their gravy is awesome. My eggs were cooked perfectly. You really can't go wrong here. 10/10

I like Nick's Original House of Pancakes. It's a nice place to get a hearty breakfast or lunch. I like the vegetarian omelette with hash browns it is good. The service is very good and it can fit a lot of customers. The waitress approaches you and checks that everything is good on coffee or anything else. Because it can hold a big crowd, it can get loud, but for the most part it's comfortable.

They gave me a dirty cup that had lipstick on the rim come the drink h ordered was a glass of milk

Fantastic place for breakfast. This will be our go to breakfast place when we visit our son in Ann Arbor!

Food- ordered potato pancakes, Dennie bennie, country fried steak, and Greek omelet. Ordered side of bacon and corned beef hash. We loved everything except potato pancakes. Also, the raisin toast isn't worth the upcharge of $3. Food = 4.5 stars. Kind of expensive for breakfast. Service - poor service. Dirty plates remained and didn't get much needed drink refills. Service = 3 stars. It looks like they're short staffed. Ambiance - typical diner style. Booths are a little small. Ambiance = 4 stars

Food was cold. I ordered cheese on my eggs and they brought it out just thrown on there and told me they would just microwave it. She asked if I wanted them remade so I said yes. They brought them out and the plate was super hot. Everything else on my plate was cold. I think they threw it in the microwave. They looked gross. But the pancakes. They were good. The last time I was here it was good. But today was not good.

Came here on a Monday around 11am. Was seated fairly quickly. Both the host and waitress seemed pretty indifferent not mean, just looked like they really did not want to be there. We ordered the deluxe New Yorker, the fat Elvis French toast, and the fruit explosion pancakes. We waited close to 30 minutes, which I thought was a bit long for breakfast. All three dishes were pretty good, the fat Elvis was my favorite loved the bacon, bananas, and peanut butter stuffed in between the French toast. The fruit explosion pancakes were delicious they did not skimp on the fruit. The deluxe New Yorker had a decent amount of corn beef and with the eggs, hash browns, and toast made for a pretty complete meal. All n all a solid breakfast/lunch place.

We stop for breakfast here usually on Sundays. You can tell this place has good food from the parking lot being full . I usually get the country fried steak or a breakfast bowl. Both are very very good. Their sourdough bread always tastes fresh as well. Service can be iffy. I've had some waitresses with good days and some not but that doesn't keep us from coming back. It's a great place if you're looking for a good breakfast option outside of the city of Ann Arbor.

Pancakes are so good. Especially the pecan banana. Highly recommend. Fast service and food is always good.

A decent price for a decent amount of food. Ordered a side of hashbrowns and it came as an entire plate of hashbrowns so I shared. I got the corned beef that is ground with their seasoned hashbrowns it was plenty of food. Did I say you get a lot? Well it tasted okay, service was okay, so overall okay.

Great experience here overall. We loved our server, and while it was busy, the wait time wasn't too bad for a Sunday morning. I got the short stack with scrambled eggs and sausage, and it was all delicious. Will be returning! The perfect comforting Sunday brunch.

Food is so yummy! I had the corn beef hash! It was flavorful!!!! I would so get that again! My brother had the cinnamon swirl pancakes, yummm!!! I like how the pancakes are just a tad crunchy! It's a special taste! Service is good! We got seated fairly quickly!

Food was delicious. Best French toast I've found in a long time. Plus they have breakfast sausage links, and I love that. Super friendly, courteous staff. VERY CLEAN restaurant and bathrooms.

The West Virginia omelette was so good!!! Sausage, cheese and gravy in the omelette. The rest of our group devoured their food, everyone left happy and with full bellies! Pancakes are top notch, the bacon is cooked perfectly!

Nick's was hanging out in my bookmarks for a long time. Finally, I made it over one Saturday morning and I'm so happy that I did! We arrived around 8:45. We were lucky that Michigan (Go Blue!) was away, so it was less busy than we anticipated and we were seated immediately. As soon as we sat down, I saw there were three types of hot sauce at the table and I knew that I had found "my place." Our waitress stopped by, bringing waters and I ordered a coffee. Nick's cup-o-joe is typical diner coffee, which I personally love. The menu has so many tasty offerings that I struggled to decide, so I went with one of the specials: That day, a big German omelette. My husband ordered the two egg breakfast. While we waited, we watched ESPN College Gameday on the large TVs hanging from the ceiling. Our food arrived quickly and those portions are huge! I dove into mine with ferocity, eating maybe a little too fast because it was so good! Overall, it was a great morning! In summary, Nick's serves up some seriously hearty comfort food and I can only imagine is a zoo on home game days. I will definitely be back.

Fantastic pancakes. Simple w just the right crisp on the edge. Highly recommend. Bacon was good. Could have been cooked a minute more but I didn't specify. Waitress there at the ready w coffee. Check them out.

Pulling in I was unsure, feeling like this would taste like a Denny's or IHOP. But the food was SO good. The eggs Benedict was delicious (and my husband can be quite picky about his eggs Benedict), and I had the pecan banana pancakes and they were stupidly good. It is not going to feel like a bougie breakfast but it will be casual (perfect for kids) and REALLY delicious breakfast food.

Brunt toast, Brunt hash browns , Overcooked omelette! This meal should not have been plated. I hate when a business doesn't care about the quality of what the customer is paying for.

Great breakfast spot. I got the cherries and pecan pancakes and they were terrific. My husband ordered the Nick's Club, which was delicious. Our server was super friendly and very attentive. If you are in the mood for some good breakfast, you definitely need to give Nick's a try.

We have been coming here for years. The service is amazing, portions beyond generous. You will have to wait on weekends, but it's worth the wait! Try the corned beef hash and waffles!

I love Nick's! I always come here with my family, so it's a pretty special place for me. Each of us always get the Fat Cat (fresh ground sirloin from Knight's Market sautéed with onions and red & green bell peppers, then topped with Cheddar cheese) and we ask for extra crispy hash browns! We sometimes get a French Toast to share too. The portions are generous, so there's always leftovers to take home.

I thought this place was really expensive for what I got. I ordered blueberry pancakes with eggs and sausage and my total came to like 21.00 for breakfast. Maybe I'm just cheap but I was like damn son. Anywho, the pancakes were really yummy but slightly over cooked. Also I feel like if you're gonna be a pancake house you should have real maple syrup. 6/10

I've been here many times. The food is good, but the service is slow and unfriendly. They upcharge at every possible opportunity. I'm surprised there's not a coin operated toilet it's so blatant.

Great sandwiches here at Nick's. With a name like Original House of Pancakes they specialize in breakfast but their sandwiches are equally as awesome. Portions are large and the prices are affordable. I ordered the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich. The turkey was piled high on grilled rye bread. There must've been 6 strips of thick applewood smoked bacon on my sandwich. Fat slices of avocado, lettuce and tomato were adorned on top. The french fries were thick but cooked perfect with a crispy outside and a soft center. My mom decided on the Rueben and was happy with her choice. Juicy corned beef slices, sauerkraut, and melted Swiss cheese were layered on grilled rye. The thousand island dressing was on the side for dipping. With enough food to take half home our bill of $25 was a good value. Next time I want to try the breakfast here.

A pretty standard diner. Food is what you'd expect, bustling atmosphere but a good classic stop for a wide range of eaters for breakfast.

Delicious and huge portions! Seemed pricey at first but once we received our meals - the pricing makes sense. You can easily split most any breakfast and be more than full.

Ordered fruit explosion pancakes and came out incredibly soggy.. table was sticky and unclean and syrup was on the floor where my shoes were sticking. Really wanted to like this spot but food was mediocre at best and the restaurant simply wasn't clean. My husband took our daughter to the bathroom to change her and no changing table he had to change her in his lap. Not supportive of single fathers or LGBTQ parents. When I brought this concern up to my server she 100% dismissed my concern as "not a big deal" and was extremely rude. Overall really disappointed.

An array of choices. Very filling and each item was yummy. Our waitress was sweet and speedy! Family oriented diner style. Defly recommend!

I've been going to Nicks for so many years now and I just realized that I don't have a review on them. Well I've been going for years so clearly I love them. I'm not going to lie and say they are the most amazing breakfast restaurant in the world, but I give them credit for always being friendly and always being consistent. I always get the classic egg bennies with extra hollandaise sauce and every now and then I'll get the biscuits and gravy. Both of which are delicious! Everything I've ordered here I have enjoyed, minus one thing... the pancakes. Which is ironic because "house of pancakes" I'm not a huge fan of their pancakes. They're dense and not very flavorful, but everything else here, I love!

Food is good. The service is awful. Never got refill on coffee or water. Waitress ignored me until she wanted Pais, $1.00 tip. Get the food to go...​

If you're looking for a breakfast spot this is it! The food is great, you definitely won't go home hungry! The servers are very friendly and take great care of you.

First time trying this pancake house and I would definitely recommend it to anybody that's curious. The service was great, we came in a on Friday morning and got seated right away even though the place was packed out. We order our food and it was out fresh and hot no more than 15mins within ordering. The food was AMAZING! Everything was fresh and hot, the only thing was the sausage patties was a tad bit salty but other than that everything was on point. Restaurant was clean and nice. We loved it here and will be back to try lunch for sure!

We went here due to their large selection of pancakes, waffles and French toast. Everything started off well but then when we got cold food including bacon and hard biscuits, it just went downhill from there. The service started well then disappeared. The Pecan waffle was good, everything else was mediocre.

I don't recommend this place. I didn't eat the food here because I never got served. Don't know what the food is like but this place gets one star for service. I came in and got sat immediately. I then sat there for 10 mins and never had a waitress come over to ask my order. The waitress were on the other side of the wall talking about their social lives, I could hear their whole conversation. After some time sitting there, another customer came in. They got seated right away, and then I saw a waitress come out and attend to them. So I got up and left, not worth giving money to this place in my opinion. If you want people to come here, hire waitress willing to make themselves and you money. Sorry for the one star, but that's what this place deserves due to service.

Amazing!! Great service and VooDoo Bowl is a must. Glad we stumbled upon this place while visiting.
