The food was fine, not great, and a bit expensive. The octopus starter was tasty, but strangely soft. The veal parmigiana was a very good bone-in chop breaded and cooked beautifully, but plated with overcooked spaghetti and a simple tomato sauce. The gnocchi was over-cooked factory-made dumplings.
The problem came with the service. The room was less than half full, and everything took unusually long. And the octopus.....we didn't order it. I ordered polpette (meatballs). When the dish arrived, and I said we hadn't ordered octopus, the waiter sternly replied "You said 'polpette'". So rather than make a scene, we ate the polpo (octopus). If the menu is going to be printed in the language of the cuisine, the staff should learn it.
And when presented with the wine list, we were told with great pride that "We import all of our own wine directly from Italy." Funny then that our bottle had a label from an importer in Napa, CA.
If they stay open, we may give them another chance. And order in English.
