I heard about Nico's twice since I was here in Minnesota. The first time, I was supposed to meet up with some college friends and dine in. This time, my brother told me about it, so I felt that it was a sign from the taco gods to partake in some fine dining.
Nico's is a family-friendly restaurant. Upon entering the establishment, you see all walks of life there. Young and old alike, there was a healthy mix of people there, and that is always a good sign. The weather was amazing, so we decided to dine outside. When I walked through the indoor portion of the restaurant, there was great decor. I loved the huge portrait of a woman that greets you as soon as you enter. There was plenty of seating. There was no wait, but the restaurant most definitely was not empty.
The service was fantastic. One thing that stuck out to me here at Nico's was the speed. We ordered everything at the same time, appetizer, drinks, and tacos. It seems like everything came out as fast as we ordered. Their menu was very simple, and I was glad the service was on point because I did have a plane to catch.
As for the food, the variety of tacos here stood out to me the most, I'm not sure the last time I said to myself, "I've never heard of this taco before." I've been doing this taco thing for most of my life, but this menu had some that I just had to try, like the scallop and calamari tacos. My favorite by far was the calamari tacos. The texture was perfect, and the sauces that they had in the taco were amazing as well. I also continued my octopus streak and tried the octopus ceviche while I was there, nothing spectacular about this dish, but I wanted to try it. Nico's is a no brainer if you ever have the chance to stop by, please do!
