Nielsen's Frozen Custard

Come for the custard. Seriously, we ate a rich carb-y dinner within waking distance and elected for something sweet. The digital reputation is well earned. Atmosphere: Walking in is a delightful kitschy call-back to folks much much older than me. Yet the pseudo nostalgia lent itself to a great dessert. Food: two custards. A chocolate coconut pecan and a vanilla cherry almond. For the vanilla: “it was bomb. Surprisingly light.” For the chocolate: not chalky. Also not Hershey’s, which in this case is a praise. Very smooth flavors that didn’t grow tired, the custards were the right amount of tasty. And the nuts crunched perfectly, so probably not old. Service: fine. Nothing special. But somehow there were fruit flies around? I don’t know what I was missing but if there’s one, there a ton. Not knocking the experience but worth noting

A must have old-fashioned American custard shop, serving as the perfect escape from the Las Vegas heat. We visited Neilsen’s six times over the course of two weeks. Their waffle cones are fresh, flavorful and filled high. The concretes are big enough for two, with a copious amount of mix ins, giving you taste with every bite. The Peanut Butter Party, Mint Oreo, and Strawberry flavors of the day were an additional bonus on top of the already delicious daily flavors.

Man Neilsons is the goat. I got it yesterday after zupas, and it was unbelievable. Their custards arrived insanely good. I opted for the cookie dough, cake batter, Reese cups and a vanilla Base. As for the rest of my party theirs was delicious aswell you can't go wrong with anything you get there. Would recommend.

Some of the best frozen custard (or ice cream for that matter) that I’ve ever had. Smooth texture, not too cold, and creamy to no end, Nielsen’s is a must visit! It was worth the Uber from the Strip just to come. The vibe inside is an old 1950’s style diner and it’s just perfect for the treats being served. The prices are also very reasonable.

Frozen custard is excellent and I love the vintage old-timey vibes. I could drown in a tub of rocky road and still die happy.

I have been watching this place on instagram for about a year or so now and I finally got the chance to come here. It is everything I could have imagined and then some. The ice cream is so silky and creamy. The smoothness is something I have not experienced before. The variety of selection makes you want to order one of everything on the menu. The staff were friendly and excited to bring us our ice cream. The whole experience was such a great experience, from the time we opened to the door to the time we closed the door behind us. This is where you want to be. You will not be disappointed!

Can’t live in a desert without this place. So many options and toppings available. Located in the strip mall with tons of parking. Service is pretty quick. Definitely gives that old malt shop vibe. A decent amount of seating inside and a couple tables outside. They have pre-packed pints ready to take home and beverages available for sale as well. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been here and you’ll probably find yourself coming back.

Nielsen's is a really great classic, old tiny ice cream shop serving homemade frozen custard. We really appreciate the beautiful antique decor including old time signs and decorations. The custard was fantastic, it was creamy and so smooth.! I definitely give five stars for Nielsen's!

Many thanks to the hardworking employees for ensuring a quick turnaround despite the busy line. The atmosphere at this place is always top-notch, with classic oldie tunes playing in the background at just the right volume to allow for uninterrupted conversations. Our order (1) quart of vanilla custard with (5) cake cones to go. Craving satisfied!

This is a lovely little frozen custard shop chock full of antiques relating to dairy and ice cream products. I was disappointed that they have only 3 flavors. Chocolate, vanilla and the flavor of the day. The day I was there the day's flavor was chocolate chip. I had the day's flavor in a waffle cone and my sister had chocolate in a waffle cone. The people at the counter were very friendly and helpful. The frozen custard was rich and creamy but we both felt the flavors could have been better. The chocolate was very sweet, like milk chocolate and not chocolaty enough. The vanilla chocolate chip was overly sweet as well. Didn't stop us from eating every drop! The texture was excellent! One thing that was off putting was that the table in the middle of the shop had all the chairs on top, like they were ready to mop, or had done it. Maybe it was because it was close to 8 PM, but it bothered me. It was fun looking at all the things on the walls and shelves. Enjoyable place!

I can say for sure, this has become an obsession. They have the best custard hands down - it's so smooth and delicious! This is such an adorable diner-style ice cream shop. This location is their first in Vegas so they have a ton of cool parlor memorabilia. The base flavors are always vanilla and chocolate and one additional flavor of the day. My favorite is the Oreo - you can taste the Oreo bits in the custard. The service at this location was amazing, the girl at the counter was super sweet. If I'm around this area, I'll definitely be popping in here! My review is as follows: - Food: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Ambiance: 4.5/5

Frozen custard on point! When we went, there were 3 total options (vanilla, chocolate and flavor of the day). A plethora of options for toppings. I went with vanilla- butterscotch/oreo/cookie dough. Soooo good! Service was prompt. A bunch of old school memorabilia on the walls. The cool frozen custard with the warm summer air made for an extremely satisfying night! Definitely will be back!

How can you go wrong with frozen custard? We ordered the oreo concrete because it looked like it was the most popular one on Yelp. Man, is it delicious! A whole cup of frozen custard for $7! It can easily be shared with 2-3 people. Service was also lovely too! I want to try all their flavors some day :D

I've never tried frozen custard before, but I was in for a sweet treat and wanted to try out this place, even with it being nighttime and 50 degrees outside. Initially we discovered Nielsen's when going to Taco Y Taco next door about a month ago, and I told my boyfriend, we have to go here one day. Welp, we made it! Walking in, we got that feel of being in a 1950's ice cream shop, with antiques and other cool stuff all around. It was pretty busy but the line was moving quickly. We looked at the menu before placing our order, and they had so many items to choose from! It was hard for me to decide whether I should get a sundae or a concrete. A concrete is basically like a milkshake, but it's extremely thick unlike a regular milkshake, and you have to eat it with a spoon. We decided on concretes for the both of us - cake batter for me and strawberry for my boyfriend and we took them back home with us. Let me tell you, the frozen custard was RIDICULOUSLY good, especially in both cake batter and strawberry. I think I already want to come back anytime I'm around this area, though it's not too far away from my house! Great place if you're looking for excellent quality frozen custard. You will not be disappointed!

Excellent ice cream parlor on Eastern Ave in South Vegas. The ice cream is very good with a variety of flavors to choose from. The prices are in line with other similar establishments. The service is always very good especially considering how busy this location usually is. The store is fairly small but there are several small tables inside if you want to enjoy your cone/sundae, etc; indoors. Definitely prefer the ice cream, and everything else, over places like Cold Stone, Baskin, etc; Will return in future and highly RECOMMEND

I could NOT stop eating this. Wow. My first time at Nielsen's and I'm so impressed. So glad they were open after I got done eating at Taco y Taco (check my review for them as well). Me and my son walked in here at 9pm on a Sunday night. So glad they are open late and it was pretty busy even that late. I can see why. My son just got a cone with chocolate custard and I wasn't sure what to do so I looked at yelp and got the Oreo Concrete. Concrete just means they make it thicker and you'll need a spoon. It was FIRE I got it with just vanilla and Oreos but you can pick any flavor and they will mix in toppings. The first bite I took, I knew this was on another level. Something about the texture, it is creamy and doesn't melt too quickly in your mouth or stay for too long either. It's perfect. I even tried my sons and the flavor of the chocolate was amazing. Idk what the secret of this place is but I can see how they've blown up so quickly. 5/5 is absolutely on point for this late night ice cream spot. A great vibe with rock 'n' roll music playing in the background and the 50's diner feel. The custard here is to die for and top 3 in Vegas at least. I'll definitely be back soon.

Been coming to Nielsen's for years now. Best Custard in Vegas in my opinion. I always enjoy the Vanilla custard here or the Concrete mix with Vanilla ice cream as well. They have tons of concrete mixes to choose from. My favorite is the Heath Toffee! The custard here is very Rich, creamy, and delicious. Never disappoints. Nice size portions with reasonable prices. Great decor with plenty of seating, and the service here has always been great!

bombbbb i got butter pecan (flavor of the day) and i swear 1 scoop lasted about 5 minutes. If you're hesitant on getting double, just do it. definitely get your moneys worth's

The location that I went to was in the Durango Casino on Durango road in Las Vegas. I seen someone with a good looking float and I had to try. The line was not too bad and I got my order right away. The staff were excellent and they helped explain the menu.

We love this Nielsens location and make sure to come every time we're in town. Quick service, always tasty, and very popular so there isn't always available seating but it usually has a fairly quick turn over!

I do love a good frozen custard.. Visiting this side of town and wanted to compare the different neighborhoods.. Ordered a sundae with hot fudge and the flavor of the day butter pecan- whip cream and added almonds.. Delish!!!! Minus a star because the almonds weren't chopped up, so lots of chewing ! Very reasonable for the price!

I was so excited about trying this place, I came to Las Vegas 3 years ago and couldn't make it. It's the first day of my trip so I couldn't let it happen again. We went after having lunch for a treat. The place is really cool, nice atmosphere, the decoration is on point, music is TOO loud, the cashier had a mad face, and I think it was because of the music or just her with her attitude I ordered a peanut butter and banana custard and I got peanut banana.. also showed her the 10% discount offer from yelp and didn't get it. Update I got contacted by the owner and came back today just before my flight. I got a different person to take care of my order, a very nice guy! I ordered a custard with peanut butter and pretzel and it was just what peanut butter dreams are made of.. hopefully I will come back and just make sure they heard right what I am asking for.. thanks Howard :)

I can't believe I have never reviewed this spot. In the 3 years I've been in Henderson I've visited Nielsens over a dozen times and I am NEVER EVER disappointed!! But what I realized before posting is that I also never take pictures of my concretes- lol probably because I dig in right away. I think that speaks to how good this place is because I am always on my phone. Anyways, the ordering can be a little confusing but if you order a concrete which is a base flavor plus mix ins I'd suggest the following: Vanilla base with banana, caramel and pecans Butter pecan which was the flavor of the day with cheesecake and toffee If you don't want a whole concrete you order a base flavor and just get toppings on top of your cup. Still good but go big or go home and get that concrete :) it helps to decide what toppings to add ahead of time

First off This place is adorable ! The atmosphere is so cute and nostalgic. The music is the same. It takes me back to simpler days I got the chocolate concrete with cookie dough and brownie and it was so delish. The custard was smooth and the toppings were fresh as well. I would definitely go back for more

Took my brother here to try out some new places! He's a vanilla soft serve kinda kid and absolutely loved it! I got a vanilla soft serve too and topped it with bumbleberry. It was my first time having it and it was good! The interior was cool, lots of knick knacks and things to look at. Clean as well! The staff was friendly. It was a great place, but a one timer for me!

Believe me when I tell you... THIS PLACE IS FIRE! We went here on a whim when we first moved here 2 years ago and we crave and stop by Nielsen's at least once a month. I love getting the concrete with vanilla, toffee, and caramel. My husband gets the concrete with vanilla, Reese's, and Kit Kat. We love love love Nielsen's and will continue to come here whenever we need a sweet treat. The frozen custard is so creamy and smooth and the concrete just gives it the extra thickness that takes it to another level. If you are in the area, definitely give it a try. You will be hooked. So bomb. So fire. So delicious.

This place is so much fun! Their "Concretes" can be made with so many flavors there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is like a vintage soda fountain and lots of little tables to sit and enjoy your icecream. It can be taken to go or eaten in and it can even be eaten in 2 sittings they are so large. We like to take ours home and put in the freezer for later. A fun family night out!

WOW! This place was absolutely delicious. A few of my local friends recommended this place as they said every time they come back to Vegas they have to make a stop here! This was enough for me to make a stop in with my boyfriend. First of all, I Love custard and have to say this is one of the best custard places I have ever eaten at. I don't say that lightly as I've had my fair share of custard. I love how many options they have for a concrete! (Reminded me of a blizzard but Way better). I chose to mix in Oreo & M&M for mine and it was Delicious!! I heard Oreo here was a great one to have. It could have easily been shared between at least two people as it was such a good portion size (my pic was a little eaten as it looked TOO good I forgot to even take my pic first!) The price was also pretty decent for how Much custard you get especially for being in Vegas. Not to mention, the place was absolutely a vibe with how nostalgic and vintage it felt. Everyone here was super friendly and we got our order pretty quickly as well! I also love the location as there is a lot of eating spots around too. This makes it easy to make a stop over here after dinner as we will Definitely be coming back here soon!!

What what..check-in 10% coupon to Yelpers...Sweet! My first time here and I can tell you it will not be my last. We met some familia after game 4 of the Stanley Cup VGK win to a satisfying cup of Nielsen's frozen custard. Small little place with lots of character inside. There was a short line that moves very fast. They have a few tables and we were able to get one. They have a lot of flavor choices and combinations so at first it may seem overwhelming but once you pick your flavor the rest is easy. Super delicious I will definitely return. Solid frozen custard place with many concrete mix-ins which basically allow you to create your own flavor. The frozen custard is extremely silky and smooth, it's like an extra creamy ice cream. They only have vanilla, chocolate, and a flavor of the day which isn't much, but if you get a concrete, it's like an entire pint of frozen custard with any mix-ins that you want. They also sell pre-packaged pints of different flavors that are pretty good. I love the nut concretes because it adds nuttiness and crunch to otherwise plain frozen custard. My favorites are pistachios and almonds and I love adding maraschino cherries to the concrete along with the nuts. The fruity sweetness of the cherries pairs really well with nuts and creates a concrete that's full of flavor but not too sweet. The amount of mix-ins is very generous and you'll get some in each bite. I would just warn against going too crazy with the amount of mix-ins since it can easily get way too sweet, especially if you're getting the flavor of the day as the base of the concrete.

Stop whatever you are doing and head down to Nielsen's frozen custard now! Heads up they close at 10pm.. but open at noon tomorrow! My first time trying frozen custard.. it's pretty much a high quality ice cream and has egg in it which makes it creamy. I had the vanilla and was delicious!! also had to get a root beer float.. why not! The shop has a 50s vibe.. they also have 2 more locations.. own in Summerlin and one in North Las Vegas. highly recommend it! they have vanilla, chocolate, and flavor of the day!!! You can add on toppings to mix if you like.. fairly priced.. and staff were nice! Parking is easy and free.

Nielsen's is located in a large Strip Mall. I've had frozen custard and ice cream all over las vegas. This one is by far the tastiest and the creamiest. Is great fast and friendly customer service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such a cute place with all the old stuff around to look at. There are only three flavors of custard to pick from. The day we were there it was vanilla, chocolate and oreo. You pick how you want to custard and toppings. I will be back. The custard flavor is very good. Staff was friendly.

My family and I love Nielsen's frozen custard. When you walk in it feels like you're walking into a 1950's ice cream shop. They make the custard in house so it's only a choice of vanilla, chocolate or their daily flavor which today is mint chocolate chip. We usually go with hot fudge sundaes, my daughter gets chocolate with hot fudge and I get vanilla with hot fudge. It's located in the same shopping center as Taco y Taco. Their prices are good and the kids who work here are always really sweet.

This place has great custard and I enjoy coming here. However, they should turn on their open light sooner on their window facing the lot as at night it looks like they are closed due to tinted windows. I marked them down a star as the ceiling fan and other areas need to be cleaned. The windows and the ceiling above the register too. There are 4 guys standing there talking while one is scooping out custard from the machine. Placing toss with the tips coin. Maybe one of them could sweep up the trash from the floor or do some cleaning?

Cute place to stop for dessert! Their custard is really creamy and delicious. I got the flavor of the day which was mint chocolate chip - yum! My husband got the vanilla sundae and those peanuts were so good! The interior is also really cute - vintage vibes.

This little custard shop has peaked my interest for years, but last night was when I finally I decided to walk in! I visited late Sunday night, and thought there shouldn't really be much of a line, but to my surprise, the store was packed with a line curving pass the door! It was quite hot with the heat wave in Vegas, so I was glad the staff was speedy and got the line moving pretty quickly! The inside is so quaint and cozy. I loved the vintage vibe of the decor! As for the actual dessert, I decided to try out their concrete! It was definitely on the pricier end, about 7 dollars for the concrete cup. Some people might find this too excessive since with that price you can buy an entire tub of ice cream at the grocery store! For those minding their budget, they do offer scoops of ice cream, sundaes and floats at a friendlier price point! I ended up getting a vanilla base with caramel and cheesecake! It was so thick and very creamy! However, I did find it to be a little too sweet for me. It might just honestly be the flavor combination I chose though. Nevertheless it was a delightful little treat to have in this heat. They also pack so much in the concrete cup! Definitely stop by and give their frozen custard a try if you ever find yourself nearby and willing to splurge a bit on a cold dessert!

My daughter and son in law took me to Nielsens for the first time in Vegas. Let me just say, it was Amazing!!! I ordered the cake batter with maraschino cherries and almonds. The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had. I highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I Can see why they've made such a name for themselves. They seem to run a well oiled machine and great product. All the employees were courteous and professional. The custard is SO creamy. Like SO SO CREAMY. cant wait to go again.

Nielsen's is an ice cream/custard blessing in disguise! I recently grew tired of the cliché ice cream spots located near my area and began my search for new ice cream shops. Upon trying Nielsen's, it was clear that their custard and flavors are much more unique compared to other ice cream shops around the area. Their menu features a wide array of various menu items offered such as concretes, sundaes, sodas, floats, etc. So, there is no excuse for not wanting to try something off of their menu! Whether you want to enjoy your custard immersed by an old-school ice cream shop interior, or outside on their patio seating, Nielsen's offers a relaxing and quaint atmosphere to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. Although the prices of various menu items are not as cheap as other competitors, the amount of custard served compensates for their pricing. After all, I always end up sharing my custard with someone as I am never able to finish a concrete on my own. In terms of what I recommend, I have fallen in love with Nielsen's Cherry Chocolate Chip with Almonds concrete! This is my all time favorite flavor as the incorporation of almonds adds a much-needed "crunch factor" to my custard. Overall, visiting Nielsen's Frozen Custard is an absolute must if you want to try dreamy and creamy custard!

Pretty good service. I like when the owner's make the ice cream. It seems like the teenage kids don't really pay attention to detail or do whats asked of them.

Very nostalgic place. As soon as you walk into the store you see old license plates on the wall among other things from the past. My kids ordered different flavored ice cream so I got a spoon and tasted theirs. Very creamy and delicious!

old fashion custard in vegas. it reminds me of the east coast with the interior and product. welcoming and old school, with nice servers. not much to say other than they do custard right and they do custard the best in town. i much rather go here than get normal ice cream literally anywhere else.

What's cool about this place is the 1950s diners theme and they're open late at night. They're located on Eastern and Richmar, next to a popcorn store, and there's ample parking. The ice cream shop has a few table and counter seatings. There's a couple of table booths that were a little shaky, hopefully someone will get that fix so nothing will fall. Their menu does offer a nice selection of fun flavors like mint oreo, cherry brownie, and strawberry cheesecake, and there's various nut toppings for mix ins. They also make sundaes, sodas with frozen custard, and floats. For starters, we tried vanilla custard with blueberry ($6.27) and lemon (+$0.95), and honestly it wasn't the best combination. Custard texture was like a thick milkshake, both creamy and silky smooth, however the blueberry flavor was very subtle. Service from Jordan was welcoming and much appreciated, he was so courteous and friendly. He did mention they don't offer samples but their frozen custard is a generous serving and can be shared for two. Next time I might just try Captain Crunch with toffee almond and banana pecan.

Absolute yums! I was dubious about trying this place because I'm not a *huge* fan of custard.. (there is such a lack of good ice cream spots in Henderson!! Please send me recs!!) This place did *not* disappoint :) Kind staff, beautiful metro interior, and wonderful tasting Oreo custard thing. Significantly better than my OG favorite prop McFlurry! Highly recommend. :)

Ok I have to say that it's hard to find good custard on the west, but this place was delicious! Custard is thick and creamy, but not overly sweet. You can get all kinds of add-on items. I ended up going with a chocolate base and choc chips and brownies... so good. Don't get overly excited and order too much... it's good, but heavy! Overall would definitely recommend, especially on a hot day!! Stay Cheerful ;)
