I dropped in early on a Friday evening, shortly after they opened. Wanted to taste some creative cocktails and I wasn’t disappointed.
Started with the “black hole sun”, which was a bourbon and sloe gin concoction, topped with a small scoop of ice cream that sat perfectly on the tip of a long, rectangular piece of ice, preventing it from melting into the drink below. Very interesting contrast of slightly tart fruitiness and creaminess.
Next, I had the “sleepy saunter”, which had lychee smoked coconut gin and grappa, with cherry icing on the glass.
Finally, I had the “sinewy refreshment” and this was my favourite. Cognac, rum, ube and if I’m not wrong, the milky component was clarified, so it had a malty, slightly milky aroma and taste but in a clear liquid. I found it quite nostalgic and addictive, reminding me of horlicks sweets. Plus, it’s served with a lollipop of the milk solids from the clarification process.
Service was great, with all the bartenders being very friendly.
Atmosphere was nice. Small space speakeasy but with a bit more noise.
Overall, the cocktails are probably not going to get you drunk but they are a bit of an adventure in flavours.
