Nightbird is by far my favorite salon!! Will is so talented and so much fun to chat with, I really look forward to my appointments with him. I have naturally darker hair and get blondie highlights from him and it always comes out so beautiful and natural looking, his blending is amazing. He gave me curtain bangs too and I go back for a trim every month, they look perfect every time and frame my face so well. Highly recommend!!

My new go to salon! After moving back to CT and trying out a couple different stylists and salons Nightbird and Roxie have my heart and my hair! I booked a full balayage hoping to change up my look from a washed out auburn brown to blonde with a a grown out root. Roxie, the owner did not disappoint, she got me lighter and golden just in time for a busy month of events. I did not book a haircut but Roxie was able to add on that service and fix my previous cut which did not suit my face or style. Being 5 months pregnant and sitting for a long appointment was a breeze, I was offered frequent bathroom breaks, hydration, time for snacks, and Roxie had me smell test styling products before applying to my hair, being sensitive to my scent aversions. The salon was well ventilated and she even brought a fan over to her station so I would be comfortable. I love how my hair came out and service was impeccable, can’t wait to go back in to touch up my new look before giving birth!

I was picking up juice from next door when I stumbled upon this charming little salon. The handwritten sign outside caught my eye, so I decided to try my luck as a walk-in—and they had availability! I only came in to cover my greys, but I was blown away by the place itself. It’s a beautiful boutique salon, with so much attention to detail and charm. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Belle did my hair, and she was fantastic! I left feeling completely refreshed. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

This is the worst haircut I have ever gotten. My hair is ruined. I initially had my appointment with Roxy, then they changed it to Belle because Roxy was running late. I asked for bangs and my layers trimmed a bit shorter. My hair was parted from the center of my head that were brought to the front as part of my bangs, which makes no sense because I already have so much hair in the front and already had side bangs, so all she had to do was trim. There are very short layers on the back of my head and the length of my hair is a little past my shoulders, it makes my head look like a mop. She also blow dried my hair and then cut it. Maybe it works with other hair types but not mine. I went back to get it fixed and the other stylist, trimmed my uneven bangs and said that nothing can be done, I just have to basically wait till it all grows out. She also said that the bangs were incorrectly cut by the previous stylist. I communicated my concern to Roxy, of how terrible this haircut is and she did not even respond. Absolutely terrible client service and stylists. Please avoid this place. I paid $85 for this terrible haircut. There are better places in town.

I've been going to Belle for awhile now and I've never been disappointed once! The salon is welcoming, inclusive and overall wonderful. Belle always does an amazing job and I always leave the salon looking and feeling amazing and beautiful! Shes always willing to think outside the box and give me exactly what I asked for, sometimes even better! She gives me tips on how to maintain my crazy colors and recommends the best products to keep my hair fresh and new. She is the only hair dresser whos dye sticks and stays in my hair for a long time! Everyone there is accepting and professional. I will continue to come here!

Will was AMAZING!! Serious miracle worker. Took my finely textured (and thinning due to health issues) hair and made me feel comfortable, welcomed, and he explained things thoroughly when I expressed how lost I was when it came to haircare. I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone!! :)

Nightbird Salon is amazing! I went for my first time because I needed to get hair styling for an event. In particular, I wanted to get curls with some styling. I brought pictures and spoke with the stylist Will and he helped me get the best curls and look for my event. I had a great time at the salon, I felt really comfortable, understood, and learned a lot about hair care and even what to ask for when I need to get styling in the future. The salon is a really cool spot in New Haven and very spacious inside as well. It is very cozy inside and the stylists really know how to work with a client and understand their needs. They gave me a lot of information as I am not familiar with the jargon of hair styling. I definitely will go back here! It is also really easy to schedule and they are a small business but the place is amazing and very welcoming to diverse groups. I will definitely go back!

I was a walk-in and my stylist Will was so warm and attentive! He walked me through every detail before cutting my hair and did a fabulous job with layering and was super meticulous with the face framing section, absolutely loved how it came out! Also incredible energy and conversation with extended salon staff, queer friendly space too!

I love Liyah! She is so personable and She listens to what your concerns are and how to make your hair look and feel healthier! My hair is super fine and I wanted some dimension to it! Liyah made me look great and she styled my hair so that it would look more full and have bounce. Roxie is so talented. My hair is perfect every time. I struggled for so long to find someone who could get the icy blonde color I wanted without damaging my hair, and Roxie even helped me go from platinum to ashy brown and back to platinum without damaging my hair. Whether you're not sure what you want to do with your cut or color or if you know exactly what you want, this is the place to go! Everyone is so kind and it's a great vibe too! (I always add a little pink too!)

I've been to Brianna a few times now for my haircut, and she never disappoints. I like a textured, long bob style and she's incredibly careful with not going too short while giving me back the bounce and volume I love! Nightbird as a salon is lovely. The salon is on a great block with ample street parking. The space is intimate, but not crowded. I love the vibe inside!

Roxie is the best! My fiancé and I sampled a few salons after moving to New Haven and this is the one that we will be returning to from now on. We've gotten a few haircuts and they have been reliably amazing. The atmosphere is fun and chill and the entire team is nice. I highly recommend this salon.

Well, I didn't think spending hours in a salon was my idea of a good time, but I've seen the light! Seriously, I came to Roxie with a pretty insane quarantine home haircut, and she worked wonders, turning it around into a seriously legit fade. If she can make that head of hair look good, I can't imagine what she can do under normal circumstances. Her taste in music is first class. And the salon is cozy, with the occasional dog stopping by for a treat and to say hi. Anyway, don't hesitate to stop in for a freshen up.

Had my hair done by belle and she was so friendly and amazing! Made for a very trusting atmosphere.. she gave me opinions and I told her what I wanted.. felt like real team work. I like that because most times I walk into a place and I'm unsure as to what I want. She does really creat job with color for anyone who wants some fun done and her haircut of 90s layers and curtain bang were perfect. Thanks belle!

I cannot recommend Roxie enough! She is an amazing, super talented and such a great person! She listens to your vision and makes it come to light. Every time I walk out of there I feel amazing and confident! The salon is very charming and just oozes good vibes.

Great new salon! Brings a great vibe to East Rock! The hairdressers here are amazing and I couldn't ask for more from them!
