Class Act Fine Dining Debuts in Bucktown With Speakeasy Bar Nightcap | Eater Chicago

"A tiny speakeasy-style bar component connected to the tasting-menu restaurant, this separate space is open to the general public without requiring reservations and can be entered through a side alley. Restaurant guests will eventually be whisked to the space at the end of their meals, while the bar itself remains accessible to walk-ins." - Ashok Selvam

Loved the mole cocktail, stuck my face in the bowl like a child and came out with a dirty face. Nbd tho bc they gave me focaccia and told me to eat it with my wagyu tallow candle while I drank my monk sippy time alcohol juice(cider and brandy). They said the cider was from the same place as champagne but I went to UIUC and I don’t remember it being in France. My hot gf loved her New Orleans style cocktail and I was ready to fight some guys on bourbon st after taking a sip.

Had a great experience here. They rotate their cocktail menu every few months. The bartenders are obviously passionate about their craft and they pay such great attention to creativity and detail. Edible cocktails, themes, fun and fresh ingredients. This place has it all

I was so excited to be able to support Cheshna while visiting CHI. Nightcap is a hidden gem in the quant neighborhood of Bucktown / Wicker Park. The cocktails are inventive, interactive & incredible. My husband was skeptical as he is a light beer kinda guy, but the bar tenders were amazing & made us feel so welcomed. A wonderful date night spot & worth booking a reservation when visiting from out of town. We will be back & I can’t wait to plan a girls trip to experience Class Act.

Nightcap is the newest speakeasy on the block and a perfect spot for a date night. We came here not expecting much and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of drinks and thought put into a unique bar menu. My favorite was the TV Munson, a unique take on an old fashioned, followed by the O.W.T! Prices were on the higher side for their signature cocktails but are backed up by the quality of the drinks, and they have a unique house cocktail list as well which is more cost friendly. The space itself is small and intimate, reservations recommended. We're excited to come back once they've set up a small bites menu, which the bartender mentioned is a work in progress. Definitely make plans to check this place out.

Great cocktail bar in the Chicago Bucktown area. Really cool experimental cocktails, in a cozy atmosphere. The service and explanations of the drinks were top notch. They do change up the menu so looking forward to going back when the menu changes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nightcap is truly something special. From the moment you step inside, it feels like entering a completely different world. The atmosphere is intimate, beautifully designed, and unlike any speakeasy I’ve experienced in Chicago.... Every cocktail is handcrafted with intention, and you can tell there’s a story and a lot of creativity behind each one — this isn’t just a drink menu, it’s an experience. The attention to detail, the vibe, and the overall energy make it feel like quiet luxury after dark. If you’re looking for a unique, immersive cocktail experience for a date night or special evening, this place is an absolute must!!

Google
A 21st Century speakeasy with unique cocktails, reservations a must. No food. Order ‘T.V Munson’, ‘If I could I Would,’ but don’t order ‘For Pfo’s Sake.’ Fun walking down an alley, ringing a bell next to a door without a sign, and entering a modern day speakeasy. Try it.

Google
this place is horrible and a joke. save your time and money. We arrived slightly early for our reservation since it was pouring outside, and we were told we could either wait outside in the rain, or wait in the bathroom hallway until our table was ready. We chose to wait inside. When our “table” appeared free, we had to ask the staff to please clear the table. When we were seated, no one came to take our drink order. When a server finally came around, we were simultaneously asked to move to the bar as a party of 4. We were told this was “always our reservation”, even though this wasn’t noted on Opentable. As a party of 4, this was bizarre, and we were told if we wanted a table, we could move AGAIN. When we got to the bar, a “sommelier” came to offer us a glass of champagne for our “kindness and flexibility”. As he poured the 4 glasses of champagne, he made sure to note that the bottle was “something you could get at Binny’s for less than $50 if we wanted to”. It was insulting and disrespectful. Instead of compensating us for our round of drinks, this was this establishment’s version of “making it right”. For $30 cocktails, this is disgusting. To make matters worse, they automatically add 20% gratuity to your check.

Yelp
Nightcap is an amazing date night spot. This craft cocktail bar is located off of Damen Ave in Bucktown and you can use Google Maps as a guide to get close to the location. Once you reach the bar, you will see a sign over the door and a doorbell to ring. The space is intimate and sultry. My husband and I came on a Friday night that also happened to be Halloween. There were not many other groups during our time here, but I'm assuming this might be due to it being Halloween. The 2 bartenders gave us detailed background on both Nightcap and their sit down restaurant (Class Act) next door. Their beverage menu is quite impressive. I admire the fact that they experiment with different ingredients and preparation methods that aren't common in the Chicago cocktail bar scene. They have several cocktails that are in the $18-$20 range and some that are in the $35 range. The first cocktail I had was priced in that lower range and the second cocktail I ordered (Eye Opener) was in the higher price range. The flavor profile of the Eye Opener was definitely elevated, but my first drink was wonderful as well. The cocktails, vibe, and service all make this a worthwhile bar I look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
... and then the bill came. Two cocktails ran me $71.90 after taxes fees and tip (ahem, service charges). Were the cocktails fantastic? Absolutely! Were they worth the extremely high price tag? Ehh... jury's still out. Yelp emails are perhaps the only email subscription I still get routinely. Nightcap was somewhere among the dozens of items I hear about, and I decided to make it a Friday to remember, or at least memorialize with Ye Old Yelp. Down the narrow passageway I went, to be greeted by a door with a brass handle and a doorbell. I rang and was promptly greeted. I made a reservation just in case, and was offered a seat at the bar. At the time, there was one other group of 5-6 other patrons who apparently never learned the concept of "indoor voices" in grade school.... But I digress. The vibe inside is modern and intimate. The translucent, illuminated bar top and otherwise dark notes gives a modern vibe without being depressing. One problem: if you are seated at the bar, with the backlight and no overhead lighting, reading the menu becomes a challenge without using the flashlight on your phone, which kind of ruins the vibe, to be honest. Onwards! I was once in a really fancy steakhouse, and I tried the A5 Wagyu, it cost an arm and a leg, and if I didn't order it, I'd've spent my life wondering. This is similar to how to felt about the T.V. Munson. If I am drinking fancy whiskey and that is old enough to drink, I understand the costs. Still, I'm sure we can agree $37 for a cocktail is steep. As with that fancy steakhouse, I'd be remiss if I didn't, so, subscribing to the 'YOLO' philosophy for a brilliant minute, I went for it. I can't deny this drink was fantastic. The smoke was more than just for show, as I understand smoke de facto rapid-ages a drink, giving it unprecedented smoothness. The cocktail was not only buttery smooth, but also had just the right whiskey notes to be loved by whiskey and non-whiskey lovers alike. It also had a spot-on level of sweetness and had some silky savoriness too. It isn't oppressively boozy, but enough that you know there's alcohol, and you'll for sure feel it. Oh, and the cherries somehow had the bite of freshly carbonated water. For my next drink I went for a Bee Bee Q, a savory drink inspired by a hot fried chicken sandwich. You know something? While not a chicken sando-in-a-blender, they did a fantastic job of putting the essence of this comfort food into cocktail form. The sweetness and heat from the honey was very light, and with help from citrus and spices, the piquancy was turned way up. Props for the interesting house-made garnish (a kind of cookie with duck fat?) and for the unique glassware. Next, I want to highlight their menu, it's unique and cool that each cocktail has a story behind it. However, it would be helpful to have more info on the flavor notes one can expect. Finally, I want to give credit to the service, which was fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive without being overbearing. Final verdict: if I were the Bee Bee Q alone, it would likely be an easy five-star. The Bee Bee Q alone would likely be an easy five stars; however, adding the T.V. Munson makes things a little more fuzzy, for $37 is extremely steep, and a total bill, including a 20% service charge (for better worse) of ~$72 felt high for what I got. I can foresee return visits, though I'd likely be saving their speciality cocktails for special occasions.

Yelp
Amazing service ! It's an absolute adventure when it comes to ordering a drink and going through the motions of it coming to the table, presenting it to you, telling you details about it, and consuming it. It's a small place and perfect for having a conversations and getting to know someone. Very dim room so you might need to use a phone light on the menu but otherwise it's amazing ! I had the 6600 bc and my girlfriend had the pornstar martini. Both were perfect and very smooth! Prices can be steep when it comes to their exclusive drinks so plan on spending around $50 for two drinks and it already includes a 20% service charge on the bill; so no need to tip ! Easier for the patrons and staff ! They do have an option for food, but haven't tried it yet. We plan on going back there on Valentine's, so we'll try it then !

Yelp
Amazing balance to the cocktails. My first drink damn near mimicked juice which I loved. Had great conversations with both bartenders regarding the inspiration behind the drinks. Theme follows the adjourning restaurant Claaa act. I'm told there will be food in the future but as for now I'd say it's a must try for cocktail snobs

Yelp
The cocktails are creative and well executed. The staff was lovely too. Turns into a fun party when the post-dinner crowd comes in from the restaurant.
