Google
Great location, good food. Felt like a fancier neighborhood bar. Great NA cocktails and also Guinness on tap! My go to is always a Reuben - Nighthawks has a Reuben to try. The bread/sauerkraut/meat ratio is perfect but the pastrami was a bit overpowered with salt. The mussels were amazing - I'd drink the sauce with a straw! Brussel sprouts were tasty but not the biggest fan of the added cheese. The burgers are HUGE!! And messy but tasty. All in all it was worth the trip for a date night.

Google
This spot never fails for a place to meet for happy hour, dinner or brunch. We had the Brussels, Cobb Salad and N/A Blood Orange Buck, which was so good!

Sasha K

Google
I met a friend here for happy hour apps/drinks and it was a wonderful time! We sat at the bar for a bit and then moved to the patio and it was very pleasant in both spaces! We came at a time where it wasn’t as busy, so that helped with moving around where we preferred! Ordered some cheese curds and (loaded??) French fries which both were delicious. The staff were super kind and attentive! Would come again for happy hour so quick!

Google
I had a mushroom swiss burger at Nighthawk's tonight, and it was great. I told my wife that it might be the best burger I've had in South Minneapolis. Nighthawk's is a classy, laid back, neighborhood bar with great food, and a nice beer selection. Their prices are reasonable too.

Google
We had relatives in town and ate at restaurants regularly so we were able to do some comparative analysis whether we wanted to or not. All of the restaurants we visited were fully staffed until we arrived at Nighthawks. Reading through other less than positive reviews here I noticed that a primary complaint is waiting a nearly preposterous amount of time to order and receive food. This was also our experience - our server was delightful but it is not possible to cover a space that size with one server and two cooks. 4 people: we arrived at 6:30 and departed at 8:30. The food was quite good when it finally arrived but it isn't an experience we will be looking to repeat.

Google
One of the best if not best happy hour spots in town. Also, they do the correct version of a Painkiller which is worth five stars by itself. :)

Google
For the first time they closed for a private party and they did a fantastic job. The drink menu and execution were absolutely superb. The staff was friendly efficient; the bartender deserves a medal! The food buffet was fantastic, especially the sliders, mac&cheese, and fries. Definitely highly recommend!

Google
Stopped at Nighthawks on a Friday night, it wasn't too busy and got right in. Good menu selections, with enough options for one of our party who is vegetarian. Beverage choices were also good, with a wide variety of beers/wines/cocktails. I had the Reuben and tots, which is one of my go-tos. The pastrami was disappointing, stringy and tough. The rest of the sandwich was presented well and could be very good with better prepared pastrami. The tots were amazing, very good. The others in our group had the avocado taco (very good), walnut taco (mixed review), and fish taco (very good). Service was great, and the patio had a nice vibe to it. Would also enjoy eating inside. We'll definitely try it again, but I'm not sure if I'll give the pastrami another chance.

Yelp
I would recommend some foods I've liked here over the years, but they change their menu often, so I'll just recommend food here in general. But recently the shrimp grits were fantastic, and the chicken sandwich very good. This place has a great vibe, and don't be fooled by the diner look, the cooking is top notch.

Yelp
I chose this place for date night. It has a comfortable interior with an open kitchen. Service wasn't good, but wasn't bad. We both had tacos. The elote corn salad portion was too large and we would've preferred other side options. The taco portions were pretty small. Not sure we would return.

Yelp
I stopped in after work for some food and a drink. The Mushroom and swiss burger sounded good so I went with that and their house made fries, which were delicious I might add!! They were so crunchy on the outside...chefs kiss. I got a side of the ranch with them as well and I assume they make that in house because it was also very tasty. Burger was pretty good! Bun held up well so no complaints there. Service was wonderful, the bartender was very friendly and attentive. I definitely will be back to try other menu items.

Yelp
The food was nothing spectacular, just meh. Not good enough to try again and we ordered a variety: Shrimp & Andouille Grits, French dip, wagyu burger, and a spicy chicken sandwich. We all walked away disappointed but trying to keep a good attitude. Our party of 4 sat in the dining area where the grills were literally smoking the entire space up. Definitely not ambient. Thank goodness some of the windows could open. No one was very happy with their meal. I would never come here again. Service was okay however.

Yelp
Great spot for burgers and best wings in the twin cities! Happy hour $10 wings. Bartenders are always friendly and parking is easy behind the bar.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
I had heard good things about this place from trusted foodies in my life. However, I was pretty underwhelmed with the brunch. I got the breakfast tostadas, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. I got a side of toast that tasted like it was stalw or had freezer burn, so that was a bummer. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was nice. The signature bloody mary was delicious. Overall, I would not rush back here.

Yelp
A good bar just a little too loud for me as my date and I could hardly hear each other. Good food and good service. Full bar by the way! Just hard to find parking. Otherwise, definitely worth going to! They have cheese curds for you deep fried food lovers like me!
google avatar

Yelp
Fair beer list and full bar. Very good wait staff, all appropriately hip and mysterious. Large portions of bar food that tastes better than most bars but is still not restaurant food , in a neighborhood with some great restaurants.

Yelp
I've gone a few times to dine in and have gone 2x for to go wings during Covid. There's a consistency about the place... food is decent - good, service is decent as well. I may have gone 2x and had standout service, once was for a chicken pickup and the second was for brunch! Brunch girl wasn't attentive, but she was friendly and patient on a busy day. Bartender was full of customer service and kind when I came to pick up my order of wings that for some reason wasn't received by anyone and he gave me a coin-like thing for 1 free drink. I thought that was nice of him. I lost it, lol, but it was very thoughtful. I've had the pear salad here, brunch, breakfast, wings, fries and all you drink Mimosa's (more than 1 flavor). I enjoyed it all. I'll swing back thru there sometime.

Yelp
Been driving by for years and glad I finally decided to check it out. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and really good food. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Ok, so big burger guy, because being real who isn't.... I've wanted to come here since seeing pictures of the burger. It didn't disappoint at a solid 9.5/10. Crispy sides, not over cooked, onion, some amazing pickled cucumbers and a "sauce" to top it off. Only gripes were the burger patty sized piece of tomato that I took off and ate separate due to size limitations(I don't take points off for items I take off burger). And as an onion fan, I want an aggressive amount of onions. The wings were 9/10, light but flavorful spices. Perfectly cooked, and a fancy blue cheese and herb dressing. Can't believe I haven't heard of these before honestly. Solid tap list, great back patio with some reprieve from traffic noise. Fast service, and a great experience. Hard to believe how slow the place was for a Friday late lunch. Don't sleep on the Nighthawk.

Yelp
I ordered the Rachel with fries for takeout and was pleased! The heart of the sandwich is the generous cuts of baked turkey. It's covered with deliciously tangy Russian dressing that's happily married to sweet onions. A touch of thin carrot sticks accent the tanginess of the dressing and give a strong sandwich a hint more integrity. All of it is topped with swiss cheese that knows it's place and sustains the flavor harmony. The rye bread holds this package well. If you bring the sandwich home, the bread may soften from sitting a bit. No problem for me! The dressing-soaked bottom was a fantastic finish.  My shoestring fries were, ironically, a bit tough. Some people may like that. I prefer crunchy French fries with a strong potato profile.  The diner generally is one of my favorite American foodscapes. I just love the comfort food staples and the fact I can order breakfast day or night. Contemporary diners have begun to embrace our expanding American food community offering Latin American and southeast Asian dishes (no doubt shoehorned by the diner chefs who rep those cultures).  Nighthawks takes the basics: burgers, deli sandwiches, fish and chips and elevates them without being snooty about it. I'll definitely return to explore the menu! Maybe I'll see you there.

Yelp
You how you hype up a place in your mind for so long and then when you finally try it the hype fades? Well, that's how I felt about Nighthawks. I can say I enjoyed the whole energy and feel of this place. If I lived in the area I think would easily be a neighborhood spot. It definitely had that vibe about it. The dining room had bar area and combination of booths. Then the patio area was nicely enclosed from the street and adequately spaced seating. Our server was so friendly and polite. My friend and I decided to share and I am glad we did. Let me say, the pictures of Nighthawks' cheeseburger is something to salivate over. With such high expectations I was expecting a food explosion of juicy burger goodness. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. Plus, the wings were a miss also. The Dry Rub Wings with aioli and Ranch similarly looked good but after a bite or two could tell it was flavored to the bone so I was just ok with the external nibbles.

Yelp
Had brussel sprout and cheese curd appetizers, delish! Couple glasses of wine, also tasty . However, the service that Saturday afternoon was inattentive and slow. Only been there once before, last summer, and had great service.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for brunch, it was pretty good, eggs Benedict was satisfactory. They had a small cocktail selection as well. Did not care for the customer service though. We were denied an iced coffee, the waiter said they didn't offer that option, however we over heard the waiter tell another group she could make them one.....double standards.

Yelp
A place sometimes mentioned as having one of the best burgers in the Twin Cities, I've been there many times for the grub. And yes, it is very good. Cheeseburger to be exact. My kids also love the place. And the fries don't disappoint. Only thing they are missing is a good malt or shake. They used to have a server who would make chocolate shakes as an off-menu item, and they were so good. Hint hint.
google avatar

Emilee J.

Yelp
Solid bite and happy hour at nighthawks! I got the truffle fries (decent) and the crispy chicken sandwich (surprisingly good) and was more pleased than I anticipated!
google avatar

Yelp
I believe I have a new favorite Rueben in the world! Simply fantastic. Good bread grilled perfectly, I think they said the pastrami is house-made. Oh, sooooooo good. And the Tots were good and crispy too. I'll be back.
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Wonderful service! 10/10 would recommend. The burgers are amazing. love the zero proof cocktail menu. Ava Shirley is bomb!
google avatar

Luke G.

Yelp
First off, the service was great. We went there at 4:00p when it wasn't busy so maybe he gave us extra attention, but it was very enjoyable. The fries were handmade, and you could still see some of the potato skins! They were great, but the texture was not very crunchy. The best thing we ordered was the Guinness Beef Stew, however, after the first few bites, it was very overpowering. It's one of those, "this might be the best soup I've ever tasted" after the first bite, but you never finish the dish.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Cullen is an awesome server and the happy hour and food are great! Those tots are amazing.

Yelp
So wanted to eat here... and the host stand had a copy of the Twin Cities best thing to eat. Craving the pastrami sandwich... .... which unfortunately they do not serve until 1:30 pm on Saturday & Sunday. At least 4 people walked away as only the brunch menu was available. Hopefully they add some lunch items to the brunch menu or start serving lunch earlier. Hope to find my way back at some point.

Bonnie S.

Yelp
Service was great Food came out hot and well prepared Location was easy Michelle did a great job hosting and serving Very please with the diner

Yelp
I was invited to a tasting at Nighthawks Diner and Bar last night from my friend and Chef Tyler Wilcox. He creates dishes and gets feedback before they go live. "Shrimp and Grits" was on the tasting menu and I have to say this was one of the most amazing culinary experiences I ever had! The flavor profiles and aromatics were incredible. The combination of creamy grits, smokey andouille sausage, shrimp, sautéed shallots and peppers topped with vinaigrette marinated slaw all sitting on top of an amazing sauce made with a white wine reduction... thats a mouthful and boy was it! I give this dish a huge thumbs up and am looking forward to it hitting the menu. Nice work Tyler!!

Yelp
First visit, won't be the last. Stopped in for a late night meal and was pleased to find not only was the kitchen open, but the menu was extensive and everything hit the spot. I didn't opt for the all-day breakfast this time, but definitely want to give it a try next time. Instead, had the beer battered walleye sandwich and my date had the hot pastrami sandwich. Both were tasty - and huge! The walleye came on a hoagie so large I could hardly open wide enough to bite into it and was packed with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and remoulade (which is described as Cajun but could've been spicier). My partner thoroughly enjoyed his hot pastrami and I snuck a few salty fries. Bartender Bethany was friendly and attentive and tried holding herself back from wanting to sing karaoke to the early 2000s music playing. Meanwhile, Jerry's portrait watched over us as we dined at the end of the bar.

Yelp
This past week I went into @nighthawksmpls with my family and was very impressed all around with our meals. Everything was really good but what stood out the most was the wings. The wings were legit! Smoked and finished in the fryer. I went with the dry rubs. These wings were so crunchy and well made. You had a serious crunch biting into the wings yet the meat literally fell off the bone and you could pull the bone out of your mouth perfectly clean. The Hot Pastrami was delicious as well. The Pastrami is smoked in house and served all diced up on the sandwich full of flavor and tender. The sandwich has a great level of heat with the Habanero-Jack Cheese complimented by Hot Mustard. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich you know is one of my favs. This one is good as it is chicken thigh pounded out, breaded and fried. Tons of flavors going on with a Honey @crybabycraigs glaze and a thick layer of Avocado Crema. Lots of slaw tossed in a spicy vinaigrette is a nice touch on this as well adding heat and great texture. : Hot Pastrami ~ Hot Mustard, Habanero-Jack Cheese, pickles. Served on toasted rye. Spicy Chicken Sandwich ~ Breaded chicken breast with Honey & Cry Baby Craigs glaze Avocado Crema, raw vegetable slaw & tossed in a spicy vinaigrette. Served on a toasted milk bun. Dry Rub Chicken Wings. I am always impressed at Nighthawks. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Have you been? What else note worth to try on the menu?

Lisa S.

Yelp
Food, service, and atmosphere was very underwhelming. This sums up my first and last visit to this bar/diner.
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
Warning: the reviews were a bit misleading for this place...Nighthawks seemed really good from other reviews and pictures but be warned. Not many of the food we ordered seemed made in house...for example, the Mac and cheese was elbow macaroni with velveeta cheese. It wasn't terrible but it was velveeta. If I wanted that, I could've gotten it at the store and made it myself. Their crab cakes were decent but a little too salty. They also drench it with yellow Heinz mustard which was unnecessary and made the cakes even saltier. Their hash browns were too greasy and cooked in oil that seemed a bit too old... I was really looking forward to the fries (in other pictures), but they changed them to more basic fries that they buy frozen. They were underwhelming...my brother did like their French dip sandwich, but for $16, it should've been larger. Overall, I learned my lesson and I will not be coming back to Nighthawks. There are way too many good restaurants around the area and in Minneapolis in general, so be careful and choose wisely...

Yelp
I came here with my girlfriend on a sunny Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm having never heard a word about it before. We came with no real expectations other than wanting more of a "bar/diner feel" in south minneapolis. The place was actually pretty busy but not to the point where we had to wait which was nice, so we sat belly up to the bar. Cheap drinks, I went with a 5 dollar 16oz ice cold Miller lite which hit the spot. The bartender was a real good dude and even grabbed me the coldest beer from the back. My girlfriend went with a mimosa (didn't do the bottomless promotion which is 17 bucks on a limit of 4 or 3 if you get mimosas with liquor in them). We did the cheese curds as an appetizer and we felt they were some of the best we've had in awhile. For our entrees we went with the pastrami sandwich and nighthawks cheeseburger. The pastrami easily rivaled the best pastrami sandwiches I've had in the best deli's of NY and this punches in the same weight class without hesitation. It had the perfect texture and balance of flavor and spice, legitimately mouthwatering. My girlfriends burger was also delicious, cooked to perfection and the secret sauce really brought the flavor of the burger to the next level. On top of that, the bun had a buttery flavor with great texture and crisp. I think we may become regulars here...a must try of minneapolis that I obviously was very late to the party on!

Yelp
A great neighborhood spot. Good food, drinks and service! Try the Mac inspired burger. Eat and drink local!

Yelp
Arby's invented the Meat Mountain, Nighthawks perfected it __________ Beef patty, griddled onions, special sauce, american cheese, lettuce, pickles __________ It's been a while since I've been to Nighthawks and their burger is bigger than ever! It comes as a single 1/3 lb but option for double which I had to try (and it was MASSIVE). It's basically a super sized smash burger and I loved it: the juicy beef, soft bun, gooey cheese, and special sauce that just hit the spot. Sides have always hit the spot and the burger never disappoints. __________ The atmosphere is warm and cozy, not too crowded and it feels like a local upscale diner. I'd come for a drink and/or a meal anytime
google avatar

Rebeca C.

Yelp
First time coming to this place and it was a great time! Unfortunately they were out of a lot of things we wanted to order so that was a big bummer. I would of loved to order the vegan chicken sandwich but maybe next time! I did end up getting the California cheese burger with vegan cheese and the beyond burger and it was delicious!! Unfortunately didn't get any pictures this time around but I will definitely be back to try that vegan chicken sandwich
google avatar

Tavian R.

Yelp
Delicious burger. I'd say it's one of the best, if not the best, classic cheeseburgers you'd find in the twin cities. Smashed patty, salty, cheesy, cut with the sweetness of grilled onions and crisp pickles. A diner classic. Nice beer list. I went for a old fashioned and wasn't disappointed. I do like a cherry to top mine off so that was a :( service is great- barkeep was cool. Monday's are all day happy hours so I'll be back when my wife's outta town. Updated review: I came here a couple weeks ago for Sunday brunch when they advertised on Facebook biscuits and gravy. Out of this world and addictive. Already jonesing for this offering. Tonight came in and tried the beef stew. It was a utter disappointment- not terrible but salty and the beef tasted rancid. Like it'd been cooked from frozen or older cuts of meat. Wouldn't recommend this dish.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of dive bars, and that's what I was expecting when I walked through the doors at Nighthawks, but that's not what this place is, and yet I had a great time having drinks with friends. It's a great corner bar, and we'll definitely be back!

Melanie R.

Yelp
this used to be me and my son's favorite burger spot in 2019 when we lived around the corner, so when we moved we would drive across town to go get a good burger. on top of the great burger, the atmosphere is one of the best for our preference. unfortunately, as noted by me and a few others I know, the quality of their burger is now so poor that we do not even bother going anymore. RIP our favorite burger spot. if you want a bland, square burger this is your spot
google avatar

Lindsay G.

Yelp
I can honestly say that my reuben Benedict from Nighthawks is the best eggs Benedict I have ever had! Their pastrami is made in house and it is excellent! Service was very quick and that staff was very friendly!
google avatar

Colleen O.

Yelp
We hadn't been to Nighthawks for brunch is several years due to Covid, the breakfast menu had several good choices, breakfast sausage and pastrami hash skillets were delicious, and the coffee was great.

Yelp
This is a weekend brunch review: at first we were bummed because their brunch menu is a little on the smaller side. I was hoping they would offer some items from their regular menu like the cauliflower appetizer - which is EVERYTHING. I can devour the entire plate myself. #noshame My friend and I settled on the Landon and chorizo cheddar corn pancakes. This was the perfect match. If you're the savory brunch type of person, these are the dishes you're going to want to check out at Nighthawks. These pancakes are no joke. They are three giant, and I do mean giant, pancakes served with real maple syrup and whipped butter. They're generous with the corn and chorizo, much to my delight. Two of us couldn't finish one order! Our server told us that the pancakes can be ordered during non-breakfast times so note to self: OMG breakfast for dinner? :D The Landon receives high marks as well because of the nice pairing of the sweet potato hash with the saltiness of pulled pork and guacamole. My only negative comment is the price point. $16 is too steep for this dish considering portion size. My friend arrived first and mentioned the lackluster service she received. Evidently staff isn't that attentive when you walk in the door. I didn't experience that but I spotted my friend right away and walked right towards the seat; bypassed the staff entirely. For the love of their buffalo cauliflower and pancakes, I'll be back.

Ashley K.

Yelp
service was HORRIBLE! watched the bartender sit at a table avoid making drinks. Our Server NEVER ask how food was and rushed to order. service was horrible, food ok
google avatar

Emily O.

Yelp
I really want to make Nighthawks more of our "regular" place but we don't seem to make it happen. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because there are so many things they do right (the pastrami!!!!!) but also some things they "miss" on. My husband really really hates the bread they use for the pastrami sandwich and even the burger bun. He feels they disintegrate. Maybe he should become their bread tester. We went for cocktails and I tried the Jalisco Dove at the bartender's recommendation. It was tasty and refreshing and the oblong ice cube was a nice touch but it was basically a margarita (I guess I was expecting more?) The bartender did indulge me in an "off-menu" drink though and made me an Aviation (pictured). I also saw him make a French 75 so ask if they make your fave! We didn't have food on this trip but I hope to try the fried clam plate next time!

Yelp
We went on a Wednesday evening and was seated right away. The place was bigger than it looked online. There are two sides; bar side, and the grill side. There are many seatings around both, as well as tables and booths. We started off with the Mac n cheese, I think they called it Shells n cheese. I thought it was pretty good. Definitely rich, and creamy. We also got the Nighthawks Chili. It has a spicy kick to it, just wish it was more cheesy and more meaty. We each got burgers. I thought the burger was good, but missing the wow factor. The special sauce was lacking. Honestly, couldn't even taste it. After eating half, I decided to just eat the meat. The bun was too much. The fries were good, but nothing worth mentioning. Someone yelped the burger reminded them of revival burger. No way, revival burger was way better. All in all, not bad. I would go back and try other things on the menu such as the pastrami sandwich, or even the all day breakfast menu.

Yelp
Hmmm... Max, something just didn't feel right today, at brunch. I walked in and went to the kitchen bar and sat down, no greetings from the chef's, no greetings from any of the wait staff. I had to ask for coffee and a menu. I even had to ask for water, that's a first. And even after that, it was far too long before I saw an actual menu from you waiter. Ordered the eggs Benedict, which have a wonderful flavor, but I was shocked that everything was just barely warm? Tasted really good but barely warm?

Yelp
Ugh, I hope my trip to Nighthawks last night is not indicative of where the restaurant is going... I've been to Nighthawks a coupe times and have normally enjoyed my experience, but last night was something else. It was 10pm on a Saturday night when we walked over to Nighthawks. There was a big sign out on the sidewalk advertising a late night happy hour. Score! Or not... although the sign was strategically placed outside, there is no Saturday night happy hour (even though the diner was pretty empty). Happy hour was also advertised above the bar, again without a weekday designation. It seemed like false advertising since something had to specifically bring the sign outside... We decided to stay because I was craving pancakes. We ordered drinks and our waitress came back with them. My boyfriend ordered a Coors Light, but the waitress brought him over a bottle of Mich Golden Light. She asked him if it was okay, but he felt obligated to take it since it was already open. Right as we were about to order food, our waitress decided to inform us of everything they were out of, including PANCAKES! :( Oh well... instead we decided to split the cheeseburger and fries, with the special sauce on the side. When our cheeseburger came out, it had the sauce on the burger AND on the side. My boyfriend wasn't able to eat his half of the burger because of the special sauce. We mentioned this to our server, who did offer to bring us a new burger. At this point, we were kind of over the whole experience, so we passed on it. She was kind enough to take the burger off of our bill, but our experience was not up to par with what I normally would expect from Nighthawks. If I was solely basing my review on last night, I'd give it a 2 (the fries were delicious!), but since we've been before for brunch and enjoyed the food and service, I'll give it a 3 (I really wish they weren't out of the pancakes, I've had them before and they are soo good). I'll be back for Happy Hour since this is in walking distance of my house, and I hope next time is better. I also hope Nighthawks changes their signage for the late night Happy Hours to include the days of the week, or doesn't put the sidewalk sign out on Saturday nights...

Yelp
Got the blueberry lemon pancakes and I was SUPER disappointed, especially after all the positive reviews. Size was good and service was good but NO lemon flavor whatsoever. My mom tried them and agreed. Texture was decent but just your mediocre blueberry pancakes. I wouldn't come back. Sorry ‍

Yelp
Food was above average and service was okay therefore this is getting 4 stars but has 5 star potential. I highly recommend the buffalo cauliflower for an app. It's like having healthy buffalo wings. The portion size is huge and it's served with the biggest pieces of blue cheese I've ever seen. We got the MPLS pastrami sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. The only difference between the 2 pastramis on the menu is that the MPLS is smaller but I can't imagine how much bigger it could get. The amount of meat was falling out of the sandwich and the whole thing melted in my mouth. The potato salad was a perfect smaller portion to go on the side. Mostly a mustard base and wasn't overly dressed. The fried chicken sandwich should have came with 4 buns because the piece of chicken was so giant. It was delightfully crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We were celebrating a birthday so of course we ordered ice cream. The blondie frostbite was so thick and creamy it got better with every bite. The crunchy pecans and blondie chunks were a great texture contrast to the smooth ice cream. I didn't want to share with anyone else. I'd love to come back and check out the breakfast menu because it looks equally as good as the dinner menu.

Yelp
They had me at footlong hotdog. I came on a weekday to meet a friend. Good thing I was there 15 minutes before 5:30pm, because that's when the place started to fill up. I recommend coming early to get a parking spot on the street, table, and to take advantage of happy hour! I really like this diner. I've seen some "remodeled" diners, and new ones, lately that still looked like shit holes, a pig with lipstick, a beat face. Not Nighthawks, they did it right. It's got the diner feel, but it's clean, cool, and modern. Great beer list. They can't serve full on hard liquors in the neighborhood, but they've got some specialty drinks with beer involved. I ate a lot on this visit. Homemade potato chips with onion dip, $3. I have a serious addiction to this combo in general. Theirs were good. Do it. I tried the Nighthawks footlong, with beer on HH. The meat on this link was so damn flavorful. It stood its ground against the bold flavors of dill mayo, horseradish havarti, peppers, mustard, and crunchy shoestrings. I still tasted that pork. Yum. Caesar steak tartar. This is a MUST. Best combo ever. I am so in love with this dish. Chicken bacon ranch sandwich. This is no McD's sandwich. Might have been my favorite chicken sandwich ever. Double cheeseburger. Gooey cheese melting down all around. Grease glistening off the bun. Juicy meat. Screams America. We opted for coleslaw with the burger, it had good seasoning, but it was watery. French fries with blue cheese, onions, and balsamic, this was a disappointment. Way too salty and sweet. Pass on these. To make sure I ate until I was on the verge of puking I ordered the chocolate hazelnut cream pie, my friend had the apple pie with cheddar crust and five spice. Apple pie sucked, no flavor and mushy apples. That cream pie though, next time I may as well ask for the whole damn pie. Service was phenomenal! I forgot the girls name, but she needs a raise and promotion. Prices were a tad high I thought, $12 for a footlong hotdog. At HH, you can get it for $10 with a beer, that's the way to go. I'm making this place a regular stop. I cannot wait to try more of the menu.

Yelp
The Godfather as visiting from Washington and we decided to go out to an early dinner together. The Godfather had order a foot long hot dog because he wasn't too hungry. When he got the hot dog, he was a little surprised at how big it was. I had ordered the BLT. We went around 3:30pm. This is when they serve everything on their menu except the entrees, which still leaves a lot of options. Our waitress was super nice, I believe her name was Ann. She was very attentive, but then again we were one of maybe 3 other small groups seated. The BLT had a lot of bacon on it, and the bread was toasted to perfection. I was not disappointed. The Godfather really enjoyed his dog, he told me that it was definitely an all beef hot dog, but wasn't a typical Oscar Meyer. haha He said there was a nice smoky taste to it when he ate it. It cake with the fixings, and we both enjoyed the fries. Nicely salted, and had just the right amount of crisp to them. The ambiance of the location was a typical diner, great music, (The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, and Percy Sledge to name a few) The Godfather is a fan of that genre of music, he could name the songs after the 1st or 2nd bar of music was played, way before the vocals even started. It was awesome. Overall, I would recommend this place to people, the experience was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the service was fabulous. Best of all, my company was unforgettable.

Yelp
The Nighthawks cheeseburger was very good. A juicy combination of meat, cheddar, onions, pickles and special sauce (mixed together condiments). The french fries were hot and great. Service was wonderful with the bartender (Andrew?) going above and beyond. My only complaint was the banana cream pie. They don't make the desserts in-house and it was very mediocre. The good news is that it looks like they are going to start making them in-house again. Until then, don't order the dessert.
