Yelp
Been checking out reviews for this place for at least a year and decided to take the bridge to check them out.
When I arrived, I was concerned, the open sign was not lit and the front door was boarded up, but I saw someone inside, so I proceeded. The place is tiny, I'd say capacity is about 8 people. Prices were high for teriyaki, but when your reviews are near flawless, I'll try.
I decided to go Mongolian. I asked the guy if he prefers chicken or beef, he said beef, which is what many reviews suggested as well. I was hungry, so I also asked for the beef to be spicy as well as a cup of soup.
As I sat in this cold place, I wondered why I hadn't been served my soup, so when the meal came 10 minutes later, I got a coffee cup with my soup in it. At that point, I didn't want it, it was meant to be an appetizer, now that my food is here, I want to eat.
I won't candy coat this, the meal was terrible, I paid extra for heat, there was not, there was no spice either. I had to add soy sauce and salt, just to get any flavor out of the beef and it was still bland. For $25 this was a joke.
My go to lunch is Yummy Café near UW. For $15, you get soup, egg roll, rice and an entre in a full-service restaurant and everything is seasoned. Here I spent $10 more for less and the flavor was worse than any other place I've tried claiming to serve wok meals. I don't know if the chef made a mistake or this place just doesn't season their food, but this was terrible from beginning to end.
Just another example why you can't always trust a Yelp review. Cup of Soup wouldn't have been better than this.
