I can’t express how much I love Nimbus and for so many reasons. Nimbus provides high quality dance instruction while promoting professionalism and responsibility, and fostering an atmosphere founded in kindness, respect, and inclusion. My child has grown tremendously as a dancer in her four years at Nimbus, had ample opportunity to perform on stages ranging from community celebrations, the annual Jersey City Nutcracker performances, winter and spring showcases in their state of the art theater, and even most recently at NJ PAC. Dance heritage is woven into each experience with master classes taught by visiting professionals. The teachers are exquisite dancers who offer kindness and nurturing as they teach. And the entire Nimbus community of staff, teachers, and leaders demonstrate respect and professionalism. My child loves dancing at Nimbus and has gained so much even beyond dance skills that will benefit her in school and in life. I can’t say enough. I love the School of Nimbus and the Nimbus community.

I absolutely love the Hip Hop class taught by Ms. Porshia! She gets us into the vibe and mindset of the movements and dance choreography with her wealth of knowledge and truly makes it a safe space to explore your relationship to movement and dance. There is nothing else like it at Nimbus so I would love to continue taking it. Any summer class updates?

We absolutely love Nimbus! It’s been a joy to see my girls blossom there with the expert teaching and warm and kind community. It’s such a creative, expressive, and inclusive environment, and we feel lucky to be part of Nimbus.

As an adult with a background in dance, I've really enjoyed both the modern and hiphop classes I've recently taken. Porscha made hiphop so much fun and was really helpful. I've also been to one of their performances which was great, very unique and theatrical. I look forward to taking more classes this summer!

My daughter loves Nimbus Dance. Every session she takes at least two classes and always wants to continue. This is the only after school program that she actually will ask us to sign up for her. I haven't fully figured out why she loves it so much. Perhaps it's the wonderful peers she dances with, the great teachers she had over the years and the venue itself. She always come back home from class happily. Over the years she also had various performances and we can see her progress. From Nutcracker to the end of the year showcases. I just watched her Tap class performance. It was wonderful to see all kids doing such a great job. The best part is, we live right next to it. I'm eagerly looking forward to the Fall season.

We absolutely love Nimbus and feel very lucky to have its creative community in our lives. My daughter has been part of different levels of the company's youth ensembles for the past 3 years; she has also done their summer classes and intensives. Prior to joining Nimbus, she was going to what is considered to be one of the best dance schools in the city/ country; I also have professional background in dance so I know this world very well. And I am convinced that what Nimbus manages to do is extremely rare: they preserve the highest level of artistic excellence while creating a truly wonderful supportive environment for the students. Their approach guarantees that the students will not lose either their love of dance or their confidence. The teachers are incredible, both as artists and mentors. Performance opportunities are many and very well-planned. Class offerings are varied yet well-rounded. For us, Nimbus plays a very significant positive role not only in my daughter's growth as a dancer but in her overall physical and emotional development.

BEWARE - This is a waste of $530!. the Mommy & Me/Parent & Me class is a tremendous disappointment, nearly a scam. NOTE THAT YOU CAN ONLY CANCEL THE CLASS DURING THE FIRST 2 CLASSES. Meanwhile, the classes DO NOT RESEMBLE THE SAMPLE CLASS! The room is a different classroom and there are other classes happening in adjacent rooms so they keep the music very low. The music itself is so dull and boring for kids. There's no disney or anything fun to dance to and the volume would be too low anyway. They have zero freestyle dance time. The teachers actually try to teach them point positions for their feet. My 2.5yo refused to go after the first 4 classes. It's a very expensive class and I should be able to get at least a partial refund, but they refused because it was past the first 2 classes. These kids are 2-3 years old! Are you kidding me? After that they give you only the option of credit which I will never use because I will never put. my child through those unhappy classes. It was a waste of $530! I'm kicking myself. Go to Next Step Broadway instead which is much more fun. Or any other toddler activity in JC - they all have reasonable cancellation policies for toddlers except this one. Save your money.

So many reasons to love this place! I was looking for a good dance school for my seven year old daughter. She started ballet at another place, but I found the classes to be overcrowded, and the instructors didn't teach the names of positions or how to count with the music. I found NIMBUS to be a great balance between good, quality instruction while also being appealing to children. All the teachers are professional dancers. The classes are small, and her teacher makes things fun and understandable without sacrificing instruction. Another reason I love this place is that it's an organization that is dedicated to furthering the arts in Jersey City. Every year they have the Jersey City Nutcracker, which has a mix of youth performers (regular Jersey City kids :-) ) and professional dancers from their company. On top of that, their dancers also teach dance in the local public schools. If you're looking for great instruction for your little ones (or big ones--they have classes for older kids and adults, too!) as well as supporting an organization that also supports the community, you've found a great place!
