A Running List of New Restaurants That Opened in New York City, January 2022 | Eater NY

Almost 30 Years Later, an Upper West Side Burrito Shop Grows Into a Full-Blown Restaurant | Eater NY

"When Nina’s Great Burrito Bar threw open its doors on the Upper West Side at 522 Columbus Avenue, near West 85th Street, in mid-January, the debut marked a culmination of decades of work for Oaxaca-born Nina Flores and her family. The Floreses, who ran a shoebox Great Burrito shop for nearly 30 years, pivoted to takeout and delivery in 2020 with neighborhood restaurateur Jeremy Wladis and sustained the operation for nearly two years; that success has now morphed into a full-scale, sit-down restaurant owned by Beatriz Flores and run by the family while Wladis operates the bar. The menu expands well beyond burritos to regional Mexican dishes: huaraches (thick, sandal-shaped tortillas stuffed with refried beans and topped with queso fresco, crema, and a subtly spiced mole that Nina perfected), jalapeno-laced aquachiles from Veracruz, Yucatán-style slow-roasted cochinita pibil, and old favorites including chicken mole and ground beef burritos. Beatriz says they’re trying to let everybody have a taste of everything that’s from Mexico, drawing on family connections and the foods she grew up eating; Nina, who is not in the kitchen as much because of health complications, keeps a watchful eye over the menu. The restaurant seats 70 indoors and 54 outdoors and is open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery Monday–Thursday 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., Friday–Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m." - Erika Adams

Stopped by for lunch and ordered a Veggie Burrito and a beer. The place was not that busy and the staff was accommodating enough to play the Yankees game for me on request. What was disappointing though was that after placing an order for a veggie burrito, I was served a brilliant smelling pork burrito! It's not that hard to take an order on a tablet anymore. How does one get that wrong! Still like the place for quick service, excellent food, and ambience!

Google
WOW. We had the beat meal here. We were tired from traveling from the holidays and were instantly warmed and full from the delicious food. We got the red wine sangria pitcher which was delightful and not too sweet. We also got nachos and the Alambres with shrimp, which were both spectacular! But the best thing we had was the tostadas de puplo !!!! Soooo delicious! Really wonderful staff and warm atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back and make this our regular spot!!

Hi It’s U.

Google
Best food and drinks EVER! The fried chicken tacos are amazing!

Google
While this place may be known for their fresh, non-greasy burritos that even feels healthy and tangy margaritas, dessert was a standout. Please save room for this flan topped with the perfect ratio of caramel espresso sauce and a sliced strawberry. Unexpectedly one of my favorite eats on this NYC trip. Service was also unmatched; with only one waiter/bartender, we felt warmly welcomed like a family member.

Google
Truly a lovely experience, and this coming from a new yorker. The place is adorable, a hidden gem. Stopped here because my kids were starving but the food the service and the spicy margarita exceeded expectations. 10/10 would recommend.

Google
We happened upon Nina’s and immediately felt the warm atmosphere and awesome attention from the waitress. The margaritas were wonderful along with the entire table of food including the delish guacamole and three choices of salsa! A favorite experience of our NYC weekend!

Google
Probably the best Mexican food I have ever had. Everything from the appetiser to the dessert was great and amazingly delicious. We had the nachos first, vegetarian tacos & a salad as entrée and churros as dessert. Will 100% come again when back in NYC.

Google
The best Mexican food of my life. If you're in new York you must come here! Amazing drinks, lovely venue, incredible food, friendly staff (shout out to our server Luis, he was the best!). Will be coming again soon hopefully!!

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, but after last night this restaurant completely made me doa 180. The place is not big, but from the moment I walked in it picked up my mood immediately. Fun music, bright decorations, great lights outside and in immediately make it known this experience will be festive. We ordered multiple dishes just to figure out what was good and what to keep at bay. I now wonder if I ever had Mexican food because this was superb. Mole, which was, ade from sixteen different peppers and infused with chocolate, delicious margaritas and fish and shrimp tacos were all delicious. I must say that our server gets most of the credit. Not only was he beyond helpful by making great recommendations, but the level of friendliness and proving great customer service is alive and well made this restaurant stop a great visit.

Yelp
It was busy but the wait wasn't too long for indoor seating for four on a Friday at around 7pm. I got the burrito bowl with carnitas. Maybe it's not traditional, but I prefer my burrito bowl to be topped with vegetables like lettuce, pico de gallo and maybe even some guacamole. This was just rice and beans with carnitas and a very less than a fistful size of a salad and a small tablespoon of pico de gallo. I've made better burrito bowls at home.

Yelp
Stopped in here the other night. Local neighborhood UWS restaurant that's fun and has good authentic Mexican food. Cute and colorful decor inside with fun music always puts me in a good mood. Add one of their terrific margaritas and you'll be all set. Burrito Bowl was ordered with grilled chicken. A nice sized bowl with rice, beans, lettuce, cheese and pico. Pescado Al Pastor- 3 corn tortillas with seared fish, grilled pineapple salsa, cilantro and an avocado sauce. This is my new favorite dish. Service is friendly and if you can get a table, it's always a good time.

Yelp
I have been going to this spot since it was called firehouse. I had stopped going for a while but I had a friend wanted to meet up there... while having drinks there one of my friends was getting an Uber and I escorted her ... as I was helping her in car bartender ran out of restaurant and demanded and credit card ... I was so shocked and said my other two friends are still inside. I wasn't going to leave I still had a drink. The bartender was so rude and I ended up giving him my wallet. I went back inside and told my friends they could believe what I was telling them... until I ask the bartender for My wallet back. My friend that goes there a lot was so embarrass of what the bartender had done. This use to be my favorite spot for over 10 years but I guess times have changed.

Yelp
I often drop by Nina's when I'm looking for a casual quick bite to have some Mexican food, especially on a nice day since they have some good outdoor seating. There's nothing special to the food, and I think a little pricey for what it is, but never have had any issues. Frozen margs are good. Today was one of those nice days and I sat outside with my wife and daughter in off hours (3:45pm, wasn't busy) at the same time another couple sat next to us. We ordered maybe 3 min after they did, but received our first order nachos (not the best) about 15 min after them. Another 15-20 min later, the other table had already paid their bill and left, but we still didn't have our taco order nor had our waiter dropped by. It was getting a bit chilly out, so I went in to ask if the taco order was ready or if they'd forgotten and had they forgotten I'd rather cancel because it was simply taking too long and we were over it. He said he'd check, came back and said they were ready just being bagged to go for us. It took another 10+ min to get the check and the order. The tacos were soggy and mediocre by the time we got home. I know this isn't a huge deal, and the manager was nice about it, but if the tacos weren't ready and you knew we were trying to get a move on it, I'd have preferred the honest route to have cancelled the order and gotten me out the door after obviously forgetting the order (plus he literally saw us struggling w my 10 month old kid waiting). $45 for nachos/tacos and a sprite a) kinda sucks generally but b) definitely sucks when the food is mediocre and you're made to wait almost an hour for tiny tacos to go.

Yelp
I don't know why I don't make it a point to go here more often. I live very close. But it's always like, I'm walking past, and it's an after thought. "Oh haven't been here in awhile." I guess that says it all. That I don't want to make it a point to go. Their margaritas are ok. All I can tell you is that the server convinced me to get a Coronarita with an on the rocks Margarita...it's just not the same. The frozen margs are very good though. Their refried beans are great. So is the rice! But I have to say the food is just pedestrian. Brunch is much better if you can go.

Yelp
Birria tacos at a cozy charming place in the Upper West Side. After a good brisk walk through the 80s streets at Central Park, my group and I were eager for something zesty, crisp, flavorful with a good kick. Everything was fantastic, reasonably priced, and fresh ingredients with authentic flavors. Never had a range of salsa level choices but I loved their tomatillo salsa, which is something you don't see everyday. Cute decoration, very great service, fun festive vibes and a good range of affordable items: burrito combos, enchiladas, and taco set. The only downside about this place is there's so many taco choices but you have to stick with the same taco type for a platter of 3. No such thing as mixing and matching tacos. But do take advantage of checking in as Yelper for a free side of chips and salsa as your first timer - a worthy grab.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow to start once we walked in at 1245. But picked up shortly after and our waiter was extremely nice and attentive. The birria tacos were excellent. A bit on the small side, but they had great flavor with a little kick. The carne asada tacos were excellent as well. The burrito was large and flavorful.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and came here on a Saturday night with a friend. It was busy but luckily there was no line and got seated promptly. Started off with frozen margaritas and nachos with birria, which were both solid. I ended up ordering the Al pastor tacos which were good but I didn't know it was pescado Al pastor. Al pastor is my go-to order for tacos and it's usually pork. When I ordered it, I just said can I get the "Al pastor tacos"... and when the waitress repeated my orders she also just said "Al pastor tacos"... wish she said "pescado Al pastor tacos" then I would have changed my order... this is my fault for not thoroughly reading the menu.. Overall it was a good experience and would come back to try other tacos. * good service * street parking * Pescado Al Pastor tacos! Not Al pastor tacos

Yelp
I love this place. They have a great variety of margaritas and every single one I've gotten was delicious. The guacamole is out of this world. Been slowly working my way through the tacos and they're all great as well. The atmosphere is cozy and casual.

Yelp
Food was good!! Service was very slow!! Especially for a Tuesday evening. The only Mexican restaurant I've been to where they didn't offer chips and salsa.

Yelp
I should give this 5 stars..but I'm hesitant because I'm A certified Chef/ Foodie....(at least in my delusions)... I have been here many times over ..not sure if I ever posted . The food here is very good .I have tried tacos ; burritos ;but what I will give the star of the show is their "Mole". It's tasty yall..very rich ..however today I decided on the El Guero . I have gotten this before ..and I craved it ..the customer service is amazing .I can't lie ..y'all know I'm an early bird ..so it was much time ..not much action ..but the waitress/waiters are always attentive ..this is a good lunch spot ..also let me not forget the decor looks very authentically cute ....

Yelp
I enjoyed dinner at Nina's Great Burritos Bar- I was t recommended to try their chicken enchiladas with mole- accompanied by their red Sangria- it was delicious! I loved the place's energy as well as the ambience was quaint and relaxed. The staff was attentive and welcoming! I am already planning my next visit.

Yelp
I really hope that people don't judge this place off of some of the horrible reviews I read, because none of the stuff I read was accurate! The service was top tier and all the staff was extremely attentive! Our server Liz was dope! The food came hot very and fresh! The Mexican flag appetizer was good. THE BIRRIA TACOS are A1as well as the consume it came with!!!! The Esquites were also really good. The Chipotle Mayo they put in it is elite! The carne asada tacos were good but a little dry. The Horchata margarita was delightful and fresh, but the cinnamon sugar flavor from Horchata wasn't really too noticeable. The ambiance was light and welcoming inside and the playlist was great also. A lot of old school salsa. Please do yourself a favor and get the churros with ice cream!

Yelp
Excellent and ginormous chicken burrito...takeout was ready from online order in 15 minutes . Go downstairs to get your order, they have a separate checkout spot at the bottom and off you go! PS enough leftover for lunch tomorrow!

Yelp
If I had any reservations in publicly sharing my earlier review... as of tonight, I no longer do. I hadn't returned to Nina's since my last encounter with the manager - after which I had promptly called and texted the owner, but had received no response - which prompted me to leave my review. I did receive notice from Yelp that "someone" had tried to get the review taken down and I responded privately to Patrick's comment here, but received no reply from him either. Tonight my friend and I were only peeking in the window for a moment (keeping our distance), just to see if we might feel comfortable returning to Nina's. As I stated, I was not contacted at all by the owners, except for the above comment, which did not give an actual update on if the manager was still employed. The owner mentioned above came outside and asked if we had been helped - I said I hadn't been here in a while since I had met him and expressed concerns with the manager. He was immediately *FURIOUS* and said "oh you're the one who left the *nasty* review after promising you wouldn't! And in your review you said that everyone else working here was being sexually harassed, too! You're hurting everyone working here - including the Latin family working in the kitchen!" The owner continued to berate me and was completely unreasonably angry - I told him I only left a review of my own experiences and tried to show him my review on my phone. He refused to actually speak to me, but just continued shouting and acting very aggressively. I even tried to explain that I had told him the night that we spoke, that I had considered leaving a review after the manager used my face to unlock my phone, but that at the time I did love Nina's so much that I wasn't going too... but only left the review after the owner didn't respond to any of my messages. He claimed he reached out to me, but the only interaction I've had with Nina's is in this comment from Patrick. The owner also said that I only claimed sexual harassment because I'm friends with the staff and that they had stayed multiple nights at my apartment... this is completely unfounded and frankly, ridiculous. I'm afraid to even mention the staff members' names at this point in case it would get them in trouble, but the vast majority are *lovely* and it was always a delight to see them - but none of them have been to my apartment, let alone stayed the night. But beyond that, I didn't lie in my review. Period. The owner did tell me that he had gotten rid of the manager so I should be happy, but also continued to say we should find somewhere else to eat... so yeah, even if the manager who continued to act inappropriate isn't there, the owner is even worse than him. I was not hostile to this man and I do not understand why he went completely off. This would have been such an easy remedy for him - weeks ago they could have responded to any of my messages (which again, after my review, they only responded publicly with this comment and didn't respond to my private reply *OR* my email) and updated me on the status so I could feel safe going there or heck, even walking by. The owner tonight *could* have said, "hey, great to have you back. I hope you feel comfortable here now." Instead, he accused me of hurting his staff, insisted that I lied in my review about being sexually harassed by their manager, tried to gaslight me and say that he had responded to me, and said that I left a "nasty" review after "I promised I wouldn't". The fact that this man also owns Good Enough to Eat, Big Gay Ice Cream, and Fred's (to name a few), honestly makes me feel uncomfortable walking by any of these places. He had no reason or right to treat me (or anyone else) like this... he even shouted at me tonight that "he's owned restaurants for 30 years so he knows what he's doing." Sadly, clearly, he doesn't.

Yelp
It's such a cute place with multi colored Mexican flags and outdoor dining, great margaritas and really good burritos. Huge, satisfying, gooey cheese. It's big enough to share. Eating in or delivery is a good experience. Not cheap but nothing is in this area. Tastes like good quality ingredients.

Noa P.

Yelp
Worst service EVER! When we entered, no one approached us and we were ignored for quite a while, even after trying several times to get the staff attention. For some reason we continued to wait and were finally seated. The vibes were as if we are disturbing the staff and are not wanted there. We waited forever to get Menus. The waiter was very impatient. When the food finally arrived the waiter had no idea which dish is which, we asked like 3 times: "is this the chicken?" "Is that the fish?" His response was "I think" "you're sharing, right?" Eventually the dishes were all mixed up and wrong. He took one of the dishes and replace it. And then come back l, but the second one was wrong too. We were SUPER patient even though we were treated badly from the very first minute.

Elaine R.

Yelp
We first discovered Nina's Great Burrito Bar in the Fall of 2022. We were visiting NYC (from California) for the first time and were aimlessly wandering the streets of the Upper West Side. As we were walking down Columbus Avenue we noticed a couple of folks enjoying what looked like some amazing chicken tacos so we decided to give the place a try - that place was Nina's. We each ordered a 3 chicken taco plate and an order of chips and guacamole - and a margarita! The service was friendly and everything was very good. We have been back to NYC several times since then and have enjoyed chicken, carne asada and/or shrimp tacos more than once each visit. Today's chicken and shrimp tacos (tender and full of flavor), and the chips (crunchy) & cheese (spicy), were once again excellent. The margarita was refreshing with a good amount of tequila. Our server, Julieta, was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be going back again very soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Nina's is clean and pretty nice inside. I came craving a burrito at lunch time and didn't want chipotle. The burrito felt less worth $18 when I saw a lunch special menu that including a burrito, chips and a soup for $21. I was told they are not doing that anymore. There was a lunch special for $30 tho. That seems more like a dinner deal. The burrito was large and tasty but was just beans rice and meat. No joke. The staff of 4 acted very busy but there were only 4 tables which was annoying. Good food and atmosphere - just felt like the burrito was over priced.

Yelp
Great food and authentic ambiance at this family restaurant. Rich flavors and cozy atmosphere makes Nina's my favorite Upper West Side restaurant.

Yelp
Great little Mexican spot on the UWS with a nicely styled interior! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and super friendly (shoutout to our waitress Julieta!) Only got burritos this time, but they were a good size and taste good as well. Offer a green tomatillo salsa and you can pick mild, medium or spicy. Definitely want to try the birria next time as well as drinks

Yelp
Hello Fellow Yelpers, Today I had dinner at Nina's and enjoyed my food. The service was prompt and polite. The waitress was sweet and attentive. We ordered chicken and nachos and they were so scrumptious. FYI it's enough for 2-4 people to share. I had the tostada with shredded pork and it was so delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. The Birria tacos with the consume was also juicy and flavorful. I strongly recommend a visit to Nina's Great Burrito Bar.
google avatar

Yelp
I loved the food here! I got a vegetable burrito with black beans and mole sauce on the inside. Everything was incredibly flavorful. It's on the expensive side, but the food is very high quality.

Yelp
This place is incredible on the UWS. The ambiance and decor is really beautiful, and I appreciate the fact that you can wash your hands without using the bathroom. I already knew what I wanted when I looked at the menu beforehand: Birria Tacos. Everything on the menu was tempting though, and my friends got a Burrito. We shared the Roja Asado Salsa, but were given someone else's order of queso. This was concerning as my friend has a dairy allergy. Thankfully, we tried it and suspected it had cream inside and spoke to the manager. She immediately solved the issue and apologized for the mixup. My friends loved the burritos, and I was on heaven with the birria tacos. Seriously, the best ones I've ever had. The tacos were filled generously with beef, yet maintained a perfect crisp factor. The broth on the side was decadent and had loads of beef pieces in it too. I highly highly recommend this and will definitely come back!

Yelp
Off the top, I'll just say as a Southern Californian, I did not come to New York City for authentic Mexican food. The excellent service we received at Nina's Great Burrito Bar alone garners them four stars. Our family of four decided to stop here for dinner, just as something we could all agree on. I will say, it's more of a bar and not very family-friendly. Case in point: no kids menu. The prices were "New York" expensive, but having to buy kids adult portions didn't help. The food and drinks were a little bland for my expectations of Mexican food, but it was exactly what I thought it would be. I wasn't disappointed, just not pleasantly surprised. The server was excellent - friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Went on Cinco De Mayo and despite it being super busy, we were treated well & the food didn't take too long. The white sangria was super strong and the birria did not disappoint! Def coming back.

Yelp
Came here for a girls night with my friend. The place is cozy. I'm really a booth girl so it was perfect. We ordered our margaritas and I had ordered the hibiscus while my friend ordered a mango flavored one. To be completely honest, the hibiscus was not my favorite, but the waitress replaced it with the mango flavor which I thought was really nice of her to do. My tacos were really good, the meat was just a TEEEENSY dry but that's because I'm over critical. My friend though they were perfect. The burrito bowl was sooooooo good. Definitely would come back.

Yelp
I had the best time at Nina's Great Burrito Bar. Nina's came up as an option for NYC Restaurant Week and I decided to give them a try. I had heard that they were open at another location and recently moved to this new location uptown. It is at this point, I must say, I feel as if I hit the new restaurant location jackpot. I enjoyed two amazing pulled chicken enchiladas that were cooked and presented with excellence. Of course I also started with chips and salsa. My bestie and I ended our meals with their delicious flan. Everything was amazing and that also includes the staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. I'm an instant fan and I will return often. I highly recommend Nina's Great Burrito Bar. If you are so inclined, they have a sister spot next door that makes the most scrumptious desserts. Natural, I bought a slice of cake.

Yelp
First time here today and I will give it another chance and hope I can update my review but we'll see. A not so great first impression: 1.) I ordered mole enchiladas and got verde so can't really review that. They didn't even have an option online for a different sauce (I wanted mole anyways) so I'm confused on the mixup. 2.) the esquites are not worth $11. The chipotle mayo tasted like hibachi sauce. And they were otherwise bland. 3.) the weirdest thing about my experience that I hope management sees and makes a change is that I ordered online and picked up my food. The person at the front told me I had to go downstairs to get it. I was confused because I've never had to do this and the restaurant was not busy. There were two people in it. So I didn't know why he wasn't just going to get it. When I got downstairs there was nowhere else to go than to walk straight into the kitchen. Which, I'm pretty sure is a health violation. And just really awkward?? Why am I walking down stairs to pick up my order from the kitchen rather than the employee doing it? And who is getting the tip I left online? I also imagine that's the only exit for food to come out of so again, a safety and health violation for non-employees to be walking up and down the same stairs as people who are carrying hot plates and trays of food. It was really weird. I'm a former restaurant worker and have never seen a place do this because it's not allowed for non-employees to be in the kitchen.

Kathy P.

Yelp
Really enjoyed their mole enchiladas and el guero tacos...ordered 2 margaritas as well as chips and salsa. Recommend and will return. Can be very busy on Friday nights so arrive early.

Yelp
Amazing vegetarian tacos! Best I've had since I've been in the US (and I've had a lot and made a lot myself too). The homemade salsa was also very good, everything generally tasted very fresh and homemade. Good, quick and nice service. Cute cafe, felt cosy. Just very good overall, definitely recommend a visit, especially for vegetarians

Yelp
Nina's Great Burrito Bar is pretty average as far as Mexican food goes. Venue itself is pretty nice and the waitress was very prompt and even gave us her honest opinion on a few dishes she didn't think were great. Interestingly named Great Burrito Bar but has only one burrito option with a choice of a protein. Service was pretty slow to get our mains considering only half the restaurant was filled. Guacamole - ordered spicy, but didn't taste any spice at all so that was somewhat disappointing Cochinita Pibil Tostada - Was alright and a pretty small portion for the price Pesacado Al Pastor Tacos - Was alright, but nothing to be excited about. Overall, food wasn't bad, but wasn't anything worth raving about and not enough to want to come back when craving Mexican food.

Dorothy Y.

Yelp
Today I paid my first visit to Nina's for lunch. When I arrived at 12:30, the restaurant was pretty empty (2 guys at the bar and a couple in a booth); but by the time I left, it started to get busier. I imagine they do very well late afternoon and in the evening. It's a cute restaurant which is nicely decorated, but small inside. They have lots of tables in the outside and shed area. I sat at the bar, and the chairs were incredibly uncomfortable. If you are eating, best to sit elsewhere. I ordered a large frozen margarita and enchiladas suizas. The drink was in a huge glass; and, if I had known, I would have ordered a regular size. I have had better frozen margaritas. It was too much lime mix and not much tequila. The enchiladas were good with tender chicken and lots of mole sauce and Mexican crema on top. There was also a side of rice and smashed beans (also good). Usually, when I eat mole sauce, I have indigestion afterward, but that didn't happen here - a definite plus that might get me to return. I do, however only eat Mexican occasionally because I tend to favor other cuisines. My bill was $52 with tip - kind of expensive, but this is NYC and the patrons are paying the rent. The staff were efficient, and the bartender was friendly. This place, however, is not handicapped friendly. To get in you have to walk up one step, and the restrooms are in the basement.

Yelp
Passed by randomly on a Friday evening after work on my way home. Super cute inside and there's outdoor patio as well. I missed their happy hour but still enjoyed their margaritas (Hibiscus and Mango), both which were not too sweet. It was perfect for the weather. Also had the carne asada tacos, which were so good and the tortillas were fresh. It's hard to find delicious Mexican food in NYC! Bar staff were friendly and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The food was good - although I will say it's not very authentic/has an american spin. Personally I prefer more authentic mexican food but this would fufil you if you were craving it.

Yelp
Got off the plane at LGA. By the time I got back home it was late and I didn't feel like making dinner so decided to give Nina a try. It's been opened for a while and it was busy every time I passed by. The atmosphere was friendly and a neighborhood feel. I ordered a beer and asked for the popular item - burrito. It was a large portion for late night so I could not finish it. As burrito goes, it was average. The carnitas was tender but overall it was no better than what Trader Joe has to offer. I should have tried their tacos. So based on tonight's experience, I could not give another star. Need to come back again and try a few other items.

Yelp
I went to Nina's with a couple friends recently while visiting the city and was very pleased with my experience. While there is no shortage of great restaurants in New York City, it still felt like we came across a gem when we ate here. We had a reservation, and the restaurant had a good amount of people as it was Saturday night. The menu has plenty of variety - I ordered chicken tacos but I wished I could have tried several other menu items. I had the medium-sized jalepeño margarita which, as you can see in the photo, was a pretty good size (shown on the far left). My drink had just the right amount of spice, especially with the tajin on the rim. My friends also enjoyed their house margaritas. I ate every bite of my chicken tacos. They tasted delicious and they were just the right amount of food. Our waitress (she had short dark hair, but I didn't catch her name) was very sweet and patient with us when we had questions about our second round of drinks. We then ordered Jell-O shots which were only $3 each. I will definitely keep this place in mind next time I visit the upper west side, and I highly recommend it to any other Mexican food lovers looking for a place to eat in that area!

Yelp
Thanks to our server, Luis, Nina's Great Burrito Bar is now considered the best place for tacos. Period. The tacos were juicy and flavorful, drinks were generous, and dessert was the cherry on top. We ordered chips and salsa, the birria tacos, carne asada tacos, churros, and tres leches with coronaritas and un cafecito. Every dish was 5 star and the service was flawless. Highly recommend to any native New Yorker or tourist. Ambiance couldn't be better.

Yelp
BEST Mexican spot in UWS! We had birria and carne Saadi tacos, and a pulpo tostada. They were all amazing. Besides amazing food, everyone who works here seems genuine and kind. Our server Julietta is a gem! We'll be back soon for sure!

Yelp
Pablo was an exceptional bar tender and very accommodating! He made the most AMAZING margarita and offered great recommendations for my taste. On top of that, he was extremely personable, kind, and funny. I absolutely loved my experience at Nina's because of him and will definitely be coming back often. Thank you Mr. Pablo!

Yelp
Second time dining at this location. There aren't that many Mexican restaurants around here that are appealing but had to come back to this one! Great atmosphere with a lively vibe and I can't forget the amazing food! Madison, our waitress, was very welcoming & friendly! I highly recommend this place to friends being that its close to home & the Birria tacos are to die for!
