Nine Dragons Restaurant & Slap Shot Pizza

The restaurant is clean and well kept. I ordered Mongolian beef, which they have but it’s not on their menu. It was a lot more onions than beef, but it was still pretty good, and it was a large serving with white rice for $19. The order was to go and it wasn’t fast getting out, took 15 to 20 minutes.

We found this spot 3 years ago while looking for Asian cuisine. It has quickly become a "must have" meal for us when visiting Fargo. The restaurant has been in business for almost 50 years and they are still going strong. Last time we dined in, but we had take out this time. They were both delicious.

This is a quick affordable place to dine in, carry out or drive up. Four adults ate for less than $50 with taking home part of the meals with their specials. The Crackling Triple Star has a little kick and you can order to your desired “heat”. The pork wontons were plump and yummy. They have a combo where you can choose 2 or 3 items. Huge menu selection.

I called regarding the fact that I had clumps of salt in my lomain that made it inedible, my sweet and sour chicken had zero flavor, and the fried wontons were all very undercooked. I was offered a $15 off my next order. This order was $40 and no one ate their food because no one was happy with how their food tasted. Super disappointed, considering I have always been a big fan of nine dragons and this is the first time it has ever been like this. Definitely not handled well.

We have visited this restaurant a couple times. Very nice staff, you can see them hard at work. Restaurant was clean and you could see them cleaning. My food was good, temperature was good. I liked the variety. It's a very nice sit down restaurant. Pricing seemed appropriate. I don't live in the area, but my cousin loves it! I would recommend this restaurant 😋

9Dragons' crispy duck is to die for, and they've easily got the best pizza crust in town. We've ordered both carryout and delivery recently, and got exactly what we wanted both times! I dunno where the other reviewers are comin' from, but this place is legit. The shop is clean, staff were friendly, and the food delicious! I still think it's lit you can get Chinese food and a pizza at the same place 🎉

The appearance outside is nice and the food looks nice but they missed the mark on flavor. Vietnamese egg rolls should be served with Fish oil dipping sauce, not sweet and sour! Typical Americanized Asian food. Too bad. Will fill you up for sure.

We spent $38 for ½ order of egg rolls, general chicken, chow mein and sweet and sour chicken to go. The chow mein noodles came uncooked in two bags with the soy sauce and fortune cookies in the same bags. Apparently, the chow mein (translates to english as "fried noodles") is diy... for $38! And knowing how packets are stored in restaurants, I couldn't eat them even if I were to cook them myself. The general chicken were mostly burned and smelled like orange lysol. This will be our last purchase here.

For Fargo, ND, I guess this restaurant is okay. I have definitely had much better Chinese food elsewhere but I don't have very high hopes for good Chinese food in this part of the country. I asked for my food to be extra extra spicy and it came out negative mild. I actually don't think they know what spicy food is but again I chalked it up to being in Fargo. My mom had pizza and the pizza was pretty darn tasty. Not the best but also not the worst pizza either so that was a win.

I would give zero stars if I could. The sign said it has been in business 45 years. Which would be amazing but after trying it is extremely amazing. The service was borderline rude. I ordered a chicken dish and It didn't have any chicken. Plus I received the smallest box of rice I have ever seen. The actual dish tasted ok until the next morning when it came back up. It was the only thing o ate all day. Don't waste your time. I was very disappointed.

Fried rice was very good. Great flavor and done correctly. The cream cheese wantons were excellent as well.

I try not to use Yelp means of a Festivus performance to air grievances. More than a decade in the food industry insight into the subjectivity of each order and person. However, when I ordered almost $200 of food to be delivered at a specific time in order to feed a group of people, I assumed a delivery place with an option to set up time would be the perfect option. And I was wrong. The food showed up more than an hour prior to the requested time, which was 45 minutes before anyone would actually show up to eat the food. The poor delivery driver had no idea what to do and asked me if he should take the food back. I actually thought about it. When I called, the manager refused to get on the phone and left the uncomfortable conversation for the obviously recently hired hostess unfortunate enough to have answered my call. "The manager said that he's sorry but he doesn't know what to do," she said to me. How about at least you offer my delivery fee and my overly generous 20% tip to be put back on my card? Maybe tell me you're going to remind the high teenager on Expo to double check drop times on online orders. The mediocrity of the food was much more than just having to sit for 60 minutes waiting for people to arrive to eat. The sweet-and-sour chicken looked like the container had dredged the bottom of a 10 time used fry basket. Small chunks of over cooked breading with no chicken, an almost manic joke of the American french fry, rattled in the box. The wontons had far more rather than filling, to a degree that made me wonder if there was no filling was a wonton wrapper still a wonton? The generals chicken, or whatever it was called, had completely congealed into a singular mass taking the shape of its original container. The meal was almost artistic in that thematically every aspect, the delivery, the phone call, and the food itself all tasted of disappointment. We shall return, after every other single Chinese delivery place in Fargo fails us in a more spectacular way.

It was the best Asian food I've had in along time consider it's Fargo . Service is friendly and restaurant is clean.

Review is now Zero star's I worked there in my high school years, fry cook. Was good food, but been in decline for forever now. Zero service!!! I have been a client for over 30 years! Today these F-people just screwed me for a $120 order. Never again!

Terrible costumer service, When we had a grievance that our order was done incorrectly the person said: we were at fault. When we asked to speak to the manager the guy got on his high horse; saying, he was the manager (and continued to say it was our fault instead of taking responsibility for their messup). We have ordered from there before and this experience has opted us never to go back. Learn to take responsibility when you mess up! Do the right thing and have some integrity instead of blaming the customer.

Slapshot has been our go-to pizza place for years. It used to be good, reliable food. What we got yesterday was a massive disappointment. Ordered pizza, cheesy bread and fried chicken. The chicken dish was bland, soggy fries and 1 piece of fried chicken that was more breading/bones than chicken. They also seem to have replaced their crust with those premade rounds you get at the grocery store -- flat, doughy and flavorless. I tried to like it, or at least tolerate it, but I ended up throwing away over half of a pizza. Waste of time and money. Maybe it's a temporary thing, I don't know, but if this is a permanent change they will have permanently lost our business.

Reviewing on behalf of my mom that was in there this evening. I do not appreciate the red headed girl screaming at my mother that she was seated in a "closed area". Is it that difficult to just ask if they would move? After they were screamed at, they asked to refund their pizza since it didn't come out on time and they wanted to leave. The pizza was refunded but the manager left the tip on there. My mom had to specifically request the tip be taken off her tab because why on earth do you think Ms. Redhead deserves a dime? Apparently, my mom wasn't the only person this redhead was disrespectful to. Fire her or watch your business crash and burn more than it already is. (-8292/5 stars if I could)

Awful service hair ball in my food. Cold food no apologies for either of that never ever going back. Don't recommend to anyone

This is my favorite Chinese Resturant in the Fargo Moorhead area and has been for the last 10 years. I have traveled a lot and even lived in China and I think this place is great. It has the best cream cheese wantons, generous portion sizes which makes it easy to share, great flavor in each of their dishes and very consistent every time you order. Typically 45- 1 hour for delivery, but if you know that you can plan in advance!

Seriously disappointing. We got home late one night and wanted some Chinese and this was the only place open so we ordered. When we got the food, my Kung Pow Chicken was incredibly soggy and mushy, almost like it was under a heat lamp for hours, and we ordered Pork Lo Mein, which actually showed up with incredibly thin noodles, almost like ramen and tasted incredibly bad. I couldn't even eat a small amount. We also got Cream Cheese Wantons and they were absurdly huge, half the size of my hand with a small ball of cream cheese in the bottom. And there was no sweet & sour dipping sauce. Incredibly hard to enjoy. I ended up not feeling well from the food and was up most the night ill. Never going to order from this place again.

My first mistake was thinking I could get Chinese food up here. My second was ignoring the reviews. How does cream cheese wontons and an order of veggie, fried rice = $18? Second, is there ANY seasoning in the cream cheese? Third, why is my rice literally white rice with a HINT of soy sauce on it? No sweet and sour for my cheese? I had to doctor up everything after the first taste. It was as plain as...as...hospital food. Tasteless and saltless. Look, don't do it. Just keep scrolling on this place. It's tasteless boogie.

I called in an order for wontons. When I get there and handed my card to the cashier she then requests a tip from me. Umm, it's a small order, you didn't serve me, you were just doing your job! Do I need to tip her for answering the phone, taking an order and walking a small bag to the counter????

Very good food! The chicken lo mein was fantastic and I really liked the sweet n sour, as well.

Love the food! It's always quick, hot, and you get a lot for the price. The pizza crust is thin yet not cracker like. Sauce has great flavor and there is just the right amount of toppings. If you haven't ever tried the lotus wings, they are a must!

I called in my order and was quoted 60-90 minutes for delivery, which was okay, It's the day after Christmas and -14. The food arrived right about an hour later and I just feel really "meh" about it. The pepperoni pizza is okay and I liked the egg rolls, but everything else was not good. Nothing was hot; I live one mile away so that alone is ridiculous. The rice portion was tiny compared to the watery Mongolian beef portion, the cream cheese wontons breading was too thick and the cream cheese was dried out. I would not order again. I paid $45 for food that I'm not going to eat :(

At its old location, the food and prices were amazing. This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Fargo. At this new location, the employees were rude, disrespectful, loud, and unwelcoming. Their prices have increased significantly, the food quality suffers, very greasy, chow mein was raw, barely warm, and had zero flavor. I will not return. Sub par cold food, loud rude employees. Not a successful business plan.

Go here. Order 9 dragons fried rice. Thank me later!! Everything fried rice should be... in a nice big container. Can order spice level to taste. Very, very good.

IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. I called and specifically told them what I wanted. I was put on hold twice and then asked again what I wanted to order. When I received the order the one dish was completely wrong than how I had asked for it. Neither manager I talked to could have cared less about how they treated me as a customer. The impression they left is, the customer is always wrong. Supposedly they are supposed to read back your order, which I can't recall if he did, and tell them they have it wrong. Than it's your fault. it. Unless Nine Dragons records the calls we can't prove it. If they did record it and I was wrong I would accept it and move along. They must have too much business to not care about customer satisfaction. Lesson learned.

I know Covid has taken its toll but I want to say I'm so SO disapointed in my what was Chinese food delivery restaurant. I ordered over 50.00 of food..arrived 25 minutes late, burnt tasting sweet and sour soup. Egg rolls saugie because sweet and sour sauce lid came off and when I called back 4-5 different times manager....Trent .could only hang up on me and tell me he wouldn't take my calls and it was all me. All I wanted was I'm sorry that you had a bad experience..which I communicated multiple times. Trent didn't even have the @!@!!s to admit that I had a bad experience....but hung up on me 4-5 times instead. I even asked to speak to the owner and was threatened with he is retired and you have to talk to me... REALLY!!!! All I wanted and still want is I am sorry you had a bad experience...is it really that hard to admit ....? Apparently...???? Don't give them your business ...they don't care.

9Dragons Slap Shot Fargo, ND: Bread is dry and service is slow. Called in a order and they said 15 -20 min to make two subs. Waited before I left but still had to wait once I got there. Bread was dry. Won't be going there again.

I should have guessed when I walked in the place what I was getting. I got the nine dragon platter and most of it taste like it was fried in old oil and a good amount of the items were over cooked. The rolls were burnt, some of the wings were a bit burnt and all of them were dry well other than the large amount of grease on them. I got an order of pork fried rice which some of the worst I've ever had. I would say all in all the food is edible, so if you are starving to death and you were right outside the door I would say it would help you live but if you feel you can make it a little further then go somewhere else. That would be the only reason to eat this "food"

My daughter ordered Sesame Chicken with white rice. She repeated herself three times. They gave her General Zho's chicken and charged her $1.90 to substitute the white rice she ordered with the fried rice she never wanted. Then they refused to make the order right. If you order here, be sure to use your phone to record the order since their staff can't listen nor provide customer service. wholly uncooperative. Terrible business model.

Well, I guess you can't update a re view without getting rid of your last one. I'm a stainless steal......nevermind. First: the egg rolls and wontons are the best in town. My opinion but MANY would agree . 3 times in a row the dish I ordered was not made the way it was discribed rn the menu. Other dishes were prepared different from the menu. However, the greatest insult to a loyal guest happened tonight. My daughter wanted chicken lo mein. When it arrived she said she didn't like it. I tasted it. It was 95% noodles, 2%veggies, 2%meat and 1% sauce. We're talking 20 cents of ingredients and they charge $12.00 for it. Also, we bought 2 (TWO) entrees and all we got was one tiny little container of fried rice. They treat us like gullible fish. Stop buying 9 Dragon crap. The only way we will get decent Asian food is to STOP paying for this garbage. The latter is my first review. My God. How does this place stay open???? I know that you all have an opinion. Well youre ALL wrong. This is horrible, horrible food. God. Just terrible. And THAT was my night off. Great.

Have been a customer since they were on 13th ave. Not any more. I ordered a chicken dish, which I have had many times. The chicken was chewy and under cooked. Took it back, would not replace or refund my money. TheY just lost a long time customer.

This is honestly by far one of the WORST restaurants that I've ever been to. I ordered a plate that contained a wonton and asked if I could substitute it and the cashier said yeah, WITHOUT letting me know that there was a substitution fee of $2.25! My mom also ordered an Indian taco that had cilantro..? She also asked if her order would come with sour cream, the cashier again said yeah, THEN PROCEEDED to charge her $0.50 with no warning. It's not like the charges are particularly large, it's just flat out rude to charge a customer extra for something without giving them the proper warning. Workers were standing by sitting on their phone and the cashier was cold and unwelcoming. The food was horrendous. The lo mein came out dry and the egg roll was disgusting and smelled old. The rice wasn't cooked through all the way either. This place quickly soured my entire mood, please go ANYWHERE else, there's so many other local places that are far more enjoyable.

I just left Mine Dragons, I ordered vegetable Lo Mein no mushrooms, when they called my number, I seen a different dish, I asked what this was and the girl said vegetable chow mein, I said I ordered vegetable lo mein, and she printed the receipt out and took it to the girl who took my order, she said she read it back to me but she didn't, when I was telling her the order, she said it correctly, but she protract it up wrong and for that, they said if I wanted to order a new order for low mein, I would have to pay again! I told her what? And she said basically it was my fault for not hearing the dumb blonde, well they lost my business, and as I read the other reviews, they lost many customers, but I can tell they could care less! Very incompetent people, very bad customer service, Burger King has way better customer service, I will call the BBB Monday and let them know that this isn't ok and someone needs to look into their business practices. They steal peoples money for their stupid mistakes. Anyone who reads this please stay away from this rip off joint!

This place does not deserve poor reviews. In business since the 80's they moved and evolved to be more of a delivery place. The chinese menu is different and the food is fresh and very good. Unless you are obsessed with the mediocre and boring buffet food offered in town you will find this to be very good and worthy of a classy sit down restaurant which they originally were. The dining room now is more of a fast food atmosphere but the lunch special is a great combination of pick your own items for your plate. I love the huge wontons and the lomein is wonderful. I really recommend this as take out, delivery or a quick eat in.

Ordered a very expensive order. This order contained hot wings The order of hot wings was packed in a Styrofoam box in the hot sauce leaked all over the rest of the order making everything soggy when I called them back to try to clear it up I was hung up on.

The worst meal I have had in over 15 years. Do not go there. It's just that bad. 15 dollars for Roman noodles not cooked right. It's that bad. I would have given negative 15 stars. It won't let me.

Quoted 45 minutes for delivery it took over an hour and a half to get my food and when I did get my food it was cold I ordered chicken wings and they tasted days old just chewy and robbery the delivery driver made me come out to the road instead of deliver to my apartment because he didn't want to get out of his car I'm assuming horrible experience I will never go back and I don't recommend

Ordered chicken and broccoli, which I often order, knowing I cannot tolerate beef. I know the broth used was a beef broth and it was all very salty. Veggies were just barely cooked, broccoli was tough and onion? was about as raw as it could be. I couldn't finish my meal. Fried rice was dry and clumpy. Will not eat here again.

It has been my favorite Chinese restaurant for 10 years. Tried many other Chinese restaurants in Fargo but this one is the best by far! Amazing! The food is so good and fresh.

Served burnt nine dragons platter. Took it back so they could fix the situation and was told that's how we serve it. I am a cook and no way would food that looked and smelled burnt ever leave my kitchen. Unbelievable that they were unwilling to fix situation. I've been there three times and never again.

I ordered a wonton soup for two. I was told it came in one size with three wontons. I asked if I could add one (so each person could have two per bowl). I was willing to pay 50 cents more or whatever, but they came back with a hard "no". Dumb.

The VERY Worst food we've had in Fargo- Mhd tasted like food out of a box deep fried. They do not know what Lo-Mien or Fried Rice is suppose to even look like so imagine the taste.

Gave me horrible food poisoning. The quantity of food is appealing but the quality is atrocious. Will not go back or recommend.

Ordered takeout and carried home in bag on lap. When we got home all boxes were soaked through, some were crushed and bag was dripping with juices soaking through. Could not eat two of the dishes, taste and texture was horrendous. Wontons were the only good thing. When I first called they just said sorry and that was it. After tasting the dishes and seeing how horrible it was asked to speak to manager and he at first told me that nothing was wrong with the dishes and sometimes because they fill them full things just soak through. I appreciate the fact that they want to fill them to give you your moneys worth but it was ridiculous. I've never had food soak through Chinese boxes or be this crushed up or taste and smell this bad.

Most I ever paid for the amount I ordered an when I got it it was almost the smallest portion I had ever seen. Food was regular Chinese quality. So not bad on the quality of food. Delivery guy and guy that answered phone were also very friendly

I was searching for a good Chinese takeout place, was wary of this place because they served pizza and subs. The order was delivered early which was wonderful. But once I got to eating I was completely unimpressed. I ordered chicken lo-mein, cream cheese wontons, and sweet and sour chicken. The lo-mein is just angel hair noodles and I couldn't find barely any chicken in it. There was no sauce on it and was very dry. The sweet and sour chicken was dripping in grease, still had some good flavor but the sogginess was hard to get past. The cream cheese wontons were eh. Super bummed about this place, thought it was gonna be good, especially for how much I spent. The service was very quick and efficient though.

Extremely rude. will not be ordering from here again, I am sure other Chinese restaurants in Fargo would welcome business. So called "manager" needs to learn how to talk to customers.

very disappointing! we normally order 2 times a month however this time going in to place an order my Mother asked to look at a menu and the employee stated they do not have menus she would need to go online. My mom does not use those services on her phone and asked again if they had something she could look at. The employee then proceeded to very rudely get the manager who came out and was absolutely awful to her. My Mom has an old paper menu with her and so she looked at that and placed her order anyway since she made the trip there. When she did receive her food the prices were much higher and also the portion was obviously smaller. She will not be ordering again for this local place. We can understand the increase in prices however the fact the staff and manager were so rude to her and treated her so awful is the most disappointing especially when local businesses are still struggling and we are trying to give them business.

I don't like to write negative reviews, because any restaurant can have a bad night. But this was beyond that, so hence the bad review. I still can't believe how bad this was. I took my mom here because she likes Chinese food. We should have gone to HuHot. At least we could have eaten it. I ordered 'Szechuan Spicy Hot Pepper Beef". Look at the menu I'm posting and the description of that dish. Carrots and celery - dry fried. What does dry fried mean? To me, it means it doesn't have any sloppy sauce or gravy like stuff on it. Just look at the picture. It wasn't anything but a ton of canned bamboo. I hate bamboo shoots! Where does it say there's bamboo in this dish? I wouldn't have EVER ordered this if I had known there was bamboo in it - not to mention a sauce or gravy! I took it back up to where we placed the order and told the 3 young girls "This isn't what I ordered." They looked at it and said that it was what I ordered. I told them, "it says it's dry fried. This isn't dry fried." They thought it was just fine. I couldn't eat it AT ALL. I swear it tasted like a can of chow mein with a can of bamboo shoots added. The flavor was so bad I still can't get rid of the smell or taste. If I couldn't cook anything better than that, I would hang it up. That food was disgusting. How have they survived in Fargo this long?

I ordered the shrimp fried rice. The flavor was good but I was really disappointed by the serving size, especially for the price. I thought I would at least get 2 meals of it.

Great food but terrible atmosphere. They definitely missed the mark in the decor. I know they sell pizza and sub also but plastic trays and no wait service. I recommend getting it to go or for delivery.

Like others have said, I don't understand the bad reviews. I'm always on the hunt for the best egg rolls and wontons and Nine Dragons has THE BEST FRIED WONTONS (pork, don't know about cream cheese, those aren't my cup of tea) I have had anywhere, hands down! I have tried every Chinese place in the FM area (more than once, don't want to rule a place out after one bad experience in case it was a bad night) and Nine Dragons is by far the best (yes we eat out a lot). And for everyone bashing about delivery or takeout (which yes I did have some problems with delivery being correct back a million years ago when my kids were really little and taking them out was such a pain), try eating in the restaurant, our order is always correct, piping hot, and DELICIOUS. For those of you too young to remember this is the third location they've been in, constantly going further and further from my house, but I would drive twice as far to eat there than any other Asian place in Fargo.
