Seattle’s Best Restaurants For Dinner With The Parents - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Touring the Sodo winery and brewery scene with your parents is not a bad idea. Here’s an even better idea: afterwards, get some New York-style pizza at Nine Pies. Grab a table in the garage-like space and split some quality thin-crust pies with toppings like soppressata, homemade meatballs, chili oil, and pickled peppers. Your parents will like the fact that there’s a parking lot, and you’ll like the fact that the calzones filled with herbed ricotta are delicious (particularly when dipped in the homemade buttermilk ranch). Always get an order of the pesto breadsticks and cannellini bean dip for the table, and keep the wine coming." - aimee rizzo

17 Sit-Down Restaurants Where You Can Have A Nice Meal With Kids - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Nine Pies is a New York-style pizzeria in the middle of SoDo with colorful Vespa scooters on the walls and a huge garage door that opens up when it’s nice out. The pies here work for everyone - and there are really good pesto breadsticks that will entertain a child and/or your 30-year-old brother while they wait for more food to hit the table, too." - aimee rizzo

Nine Pies Pizzeria Review - Sodo - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Touring the Sodo winery and brewery scene isn't a bad idea. Grabbing pizza at Nine Pies, however, is. Let's start with the silver linings—their garage-like space makes for a good hang, and the fact that it's a food source located directly next to a syrah factory is a plus. We wouldn't mind gnawing on their pesto-infused breadsticks after one too many glugs of merlot. But the New York-style pies are floppy-flimsy, gummy with a heavy hand of underwhelming cheese, and just bland. And if you find yourself ravenous for slices in the neighborhood, we're sending you to Slice Box instead, which is five minutes away and much better." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
This place is absolutely amazing! My family and I were traveling around Seattle for a few days, and we discovered Nine Pies Pizzeria. The food is top-notch. Go see Fernando, you won't be disappointed.

Google
Nine pies pizzeria was pretty good, it’s located in a big parking lot along with some other stores. They have nice indoor and outdoor seating and a few TVs for catching the game. The counter where you order and then you can sit down and I’ll bring the food and drink out to you. Overall, the place is nice and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The pizza was good, but not great, although it hit the spot.

Karen Fung

Google
One of the best pizza I've had, the crust is light and crispy while the toppings is packed with tons of flavor. Also like that I don't feel heavy afterwards! It was so good I went back for more and got a whole pizza a few days later.

Google
Came here after a costco run, but the line was way to long there so came to get some slices for my wife and I. It's very close and the slices are 5x times better. The owner tolde me that they normally do slices for lunch, but they had some leftover.I ordered 2 pepp and a pepp and a sausage basil to go. I walked back to my car with two boxes, opened them and he had given me a free slice on the house without telling me. Very generous of him! Go support your local business!! I'll gladly come here again soon!!

Brian Petermeyer

Google
Visit Patterson Winery next door and they’ll carry your pizza over. We used to go for the wine and add the pizza but the pizza is sooo good it might be tied. Crispy crust that is still sold. Add incredible toppings to that and you have one fantastic pizza!

Marissa Bettler

Google
Can’t go wrong with the vodka chicken slice. So good I didn’t want to write a review because I wanted to keep this place a secret.

Madelyn G

Google
Contrary to some reviewers I really love this pizza. Maybe it just hits with the wine or maybe I’m craving pizza when I get it but this place is good! Normale is traditional and great, another pie they have has potato on it! Staff is friendly and quick, they do get busy but no long waits. Patio tables are great in the summer and early fall!

Google
Nine Pies was a great dinner stop after trying seltzers nearby. The price of a 14 inch pizza was a tad high, but the quality was definitely there. I enjoyed the beer I tried and the service throughout was excellent. Would come back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Picked an order to go for our crowd. The owner suggested dining in next time. True. Straight out of the oven tastes best. Pick up was easier with our large crew including one with a walker. Industrial modern cool interior ve Shared: Arugula salad, house salad, & Caesar salad. All super fresh & tasty. Ordered the meatball app. Giant and tasty. 2 small Pizzas with marinara & side sauce, a pesto pizza with a side sauce. Woweee... the crust! Thin, crisp, great tasting. 3 extra large pizzas- Normale, Travasi & Trafela. OH. MY. GOSH. The CRUST! All three were SOOO GOOD! The only downfall is we all live 1,200 miles away! So sad for us. All y'all Seattle-ites take note of how fortunate you are.

Yelp
Excellent pizza, just-okay-wine, interesting atmosphere/vibes, and decent service. Sounds like a 4 star to me. One thing that kind of bothered me was the food safety rating was only "Good." The venue looked quite clean and the pizza came out piping hot so I was a bit confused as to why but hey I don't work for OSHA and I am sure the restaurant did not properly cover some health regulations. With that out of the way, I believe this restaurant is run by a winery/wine tasting room next door called Nine Hats Wines. You can order Nine Hats wines by the glass or bottle while dining. The wine I ordered (Merlot) was not very good though. The good news is, the pizza was amazing. My buddies all enjoyed it. The 14 inch pie was $26 so it wasn't cheap but it wasn't outrageous either. I recommend this place. They also have an outdoor seating area and there is free parking right in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
Needed to try some yummy pizza and I heard this was the spot ! They have a lunch special and so I went for the 14 ' small pizza . They sell wine and beer. Service was friendly and attentive ! My pizza was yummy put it needed more cooking time. I mean the crust could have been browner. Next time I'll ask for extra crispy. Overall it was good .

Yelp
Not worth it. We came in on a Thursday night and was seated promptly. There was only one person who was doing all of the ordering and serving. He went to all the tables (including the ones that came in after us) and skipped over ours, leaving us to wait at least 20 minutes. We eventually came up to the counter to order but he told us that there were several tables before us and told us he'll take our orders later. Normally, this would be fine and I understand that it was a busy night. However, all the tables before us were already served and he served everyone who came in after us. It felt very disappointing since we saw the good reviews before coming in.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing every single time I've been. Ocean and Oscar provide the greatest service and are very friendly! The calzones are definitely my favorite, but they're pretty large so be prepared to have leftovers!
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
It was so good I cried. Best pizza I've had. Parking can be tight. Lots of wine options around.
google avatar

Yelp
Pricey, but on par for the area. Huge delicious pizza, friendly service. Really delicious and good sized gluten free pizza too. Very cute SODO area with lots of choices for wine, food, dessert. Would def go again.
google avatar

Yelp
Never knew this place existed but had six people going for dinner. Was not impressed with the flavor of the Meatballs whatsoever. Something just tasted off. That said, the calzone looked beautiful and my pizza was terrific! Stuffed mushrooms were okay. Crust was super thin which is exactly the way I like it. Would go back!

Yelp
As an Italian from the East Coast, I can be very picky about Italian cuisine, especially claims of New York style pizza. I also love to be surprised when PNW restaurants get it right! Nine Pies is an upscale restaurant that's also accessible in a non-bougie, casual kinda way. That's the best way to describe it. We were immediately greeted by our server (owner?) and seated. I ordered the puttanesca; a dish I truly love, yet rarely get to enjoy. I asked the waiter for a good red wine choice and came through with a good Sangiovese. The dish was flavorful with just the right amount of salty goodness. My hubby is easier to please and enjoyed the pepperoni pizza. I of course had to sample it. Yes, it was a quality pie, cooked to perfection; just slightly charred on the bottom. We split a ceasar salad. It was fresh, lightly dressed with a nice crunch to it. It was a delicious dinner with an upbeat, casual vibe. We hope to come back next time we are in town!
google avatar

Sonia S.

Yelp
Best gluten free pizza I have ever had. I wish I could bring them to Fort Worth. It's also huge for gluten free pizza.
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
There is a lot to love but also a lot to know. I loved the crust, the vibe and the house pizza creations. We loved the Brachetta a great combination, well curated! The Build Your Own pizza was so lightly topped we could tell what we ordered. Our mushroom and artichoke pizza had one mushroom sliced and maybe 3 pieces of artichoke, most slices were plain cheese. Ordering on line will give an excessive tip to staff on the web site. 15-20% as I recall. You can reduce it to an appropriate amount if you know what's happening. Make careful choices.

Yelp
This place is about the atmosphere and Oscar. He greeted me when I came in and talked me through their wines, food and tap. I had an absolutely delightful time killing an hour here and he upsold me without even trying. The establishment is friendly, charming, clean and all around just a fun hang. The meatballs are gluten free - this isn't a big deal other than they are actually made of meat. So many places fill their meatballs with bread filler. It was simply a delight to enjoy them with their well balanced tomato sauce. I do think they need a bit more fat in them, but that's just my opinion. They were pretty pricey at $18 so I wouldn't necessarily suggest they are a must order. The calzone felt much more like a pizza folded in half. I took it to go and thought it tasted great - especially the high quality ingredients. That said, i think it's probably best eaten fresh from the oven there. Next time for take out I would get a pizza. Since the venue is owned by Long Shadows, they are selling wines with a tiny markup - both bottles and glasses. So to enjoy a good bottle of wine with a meal and not be gauged, this is the place to go! Delightful place with good quality food, great staff and well priced wine. Enjoy!

Patience P.

Yelp
If you love pizza or ceaser salads, pasta ETC. This place is very tasty. Staff is friendly and very attentive!!

Yelp
Spectacular pizza The service was amazing and the food was so fresh and delicious The wine selection was great too.

Yelp
This place is fun, it is a little spot in a plaza. This is that type of slice pizza that you get happy about when you stumble upon a place with friends. If I lived near, it wouldn't be my pizza to order from home. However, if I was out with the buddies, looking for a slice and some decent beer, this place hits on all fronts. Pizza to me is a 6.9, the sauce is a little bland but the whole package makes it a solid 7.5.
google avatar

Pranav K.

Yelp
OMG, if having a pizza place next to a wine, seltzer tasting place was not enough, the pizza is actually amazeballs! New York style pies, good flavors and they highly recommend the half and half option. The apricot cider on tap was also on point and you can order by slice so great to get a cheese slice for the kids. Works out well for family friendly dining. Great service and staff is always in a good mood. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came for a tasting and my people wanted pizza. It was a nice day so we camped out under umbrellas and played with the wine dog while we contemplated. I decided to get some bolognese, whilst my friends grabbed a pizza. I cleaned my plate and would opt for the pasta again. My friends ended up taking some of the pizza home, so I guess I know who the cochon was. Good scores.

Justin M.

Yelp
Amazing service with great pizza and salad at a reasonable price. Will be a regular customer.
google avatar

Johnny B.

Yelp
We were at an event next door and they had pizzas from here delivered. If I closed my eyes, and folded it in a paper plate, I would think I was in NY, eating take out pizza from Joe's. Nailed it. So good.
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Wow wow wow! They have the absolute best NY style pizza that I have found in Seattle!!! I tried them for the first time tonight and I almost cried at how perfect they are compared to my youth and prior life in Manhattan and the NYC metro area. I like a lot of different pizza styles, Chicago, Colorado, wood fired, neighborhood, etc - and I have tried all of the other places that say they make NY pizza - but if you are looking for true NY pizza in Seattle, then check this place out. I am so happy that my 9-year pizza search has finally brought me here! Now if I could only find that perfect Italian cold cut sandwich.... (LOL - inside joke for others from the east coast that feel the pain.)
google avatar

Sukhman T.

Yelp
The customer service here is amazing and they have built in parking in this plaza. The waiter was very approachable and customized our pizza to be half/half. The pizza was crunchy and thin slices. We ordered pasta which they customized for a vegetarian. The ambience of the location is very relaxing and welcoming. Reasons for Rating: +1 Excellent location and parking +1 Food taste really good +1 Customer service +1 Interior/atmosphere +1 Would return/recommend others
google avatar

Keith O.

Yelp
Just not sure!! The NY style pizza was very good and the service was quick! I just found the prices to be quite a bit higher than I would have expected. $24 for a cheese pizza? $14 for a Caesar salad? And to charge $2 for a side of ranch dressing is a joke.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great place! We are visiting from Las Vegas and I just searched restaurants with good ratings close to our vrbo and that's how we found this gem. The area is very cute with a brewery and tasting rooms in what looks like a converted warehouse space. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere, which included a Pride celebration at the brewery. The food was great. My husband and I shared a pizza, salad and appetizer and the kids had spaghetti and meatballs. (And I may have stolen a meatball because yum.). The employees were attentive and made food suggestions which is always nice. Overall this was a great find!

Craig T.

Yelp
Food and service was great. Business is tucked away in an industrial part of Seattle. It is a place you either already know about or heard about it from a local. Staff were kind and accommodating to allow us to try different favors on a pizza . We tried two different combinations and both were tasty and flavorful. Glad we came here and tried it out. Several other foodie places surrounding Nine Pies but finding it within a small business park was unique. Will come back again when in Seattle.

Cameron E.

Yelp
Was nearby for a function late on a Sunday night. Came in right before closing time and ordered a pie to go. Great service even though it was 15 min to close. And more importantly, a super delicious pie. Great crust and high quality toppings as a very reasonable price. Will come back when I'm in SoDo!

Yelp
I had Nine Pies Pizzeria bookmarked based on other Yelp Elites posts. I finally had the opportunity to check it out for an early lunch while in Seattle's Industrial District/SoDo neighborhood (11/9/22). After a brief GPS snafu with three u-turns, I finally turned into 1st Ave S and Dakota into a interesting complex I've never ventured into. Note: the shared parking lot is pretty tight, so exercise caution. NIne Pies Pizzeria shares the complex with these other businesses: Rotie Cellars, Patterson Cellars, Nine Hats, Structure Cellars, Old World Tasting Room, Love Beats Pagne, San Juan Seltzery Taproom Kitchen & Bar, Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery, and Latta Wines. Quite the destination if you plan to do wine tasting and also enjoy pizza and dessert. Thin crust style pizza are available as whole pies or large slices, as well as, salads, beer/wine, and other beverages. There were whole pies on a three shelf display case. I greatly appreciated the gentleman behind the counter describing each pie's ingredients. I opted for two premium slices ($5.75 each) and just ice water. Slices were heated up (whether takeout or for onsite dining), I paid up, started a punch card for slice purchases, and sat myself at a sunny two top. Shortly thereafter my order was brought directly to my table. There's indoor seating available, plus outdoor picnic tables. I observed there were also brisk pre-orders and takeout, but with their efficient system, the line moves pretty fast. Pretty tasty and reminiscent of another local chain, Pagliacci's. Nice find in between Georgetown and jumping on the ramp to West Seattle.

Shami M.

Yelp
Everything about this place is great! The owner is so nice and accommodating! We got 3 appetizers and they were all so good! I love this place when visiting the wineries 100% recommend for good pizza and great service!

Yelp
I had doordash from here before and the pizza is great. I'm not sure of the service until last night. My daughter & a friend shared with me last night that they and their friends (13 teenagers) unplanned and walked in here after the haunted house visit. They said to a male host/server that they are all OK with sitting outside knowing they have a big group, the server took them to a room and said it's ok for them to sit here. They said the server's tone sounded rude and he seemed drunk as he was not speaking clear, face was red, and he was tipsy. They didn't realize they were charged $40 for the room until afterward when they already paid and left. The host/server didn't inform them when they should prior. I understand that it can be chaotic when a large group of teens walked in during a busy time without reservation. I asked if they were loud at all because sometimes people or staff at restaurants get annoyed with that and in return they can give different treatment. They said they were not loud or being obnoxious at all. They all paid separately, individually, which they didn't know that their group is too big to split checks. I already explained and advised them to split checks into 2-4 if it's a large group like that and they can pay back after. They are kids.

Yelp
I do not particularly enjoy pizzas and I never have in my life, that is, until yesterday!!! I got the Siluro (pizza bianca topped w/pancetta, yukon gold potatoes, onions) and I would happily shell out $$ to get it again. Nine Pies, thanks for making me believe in pizza again.
google avatar

elle p.

Yelp
Oh gosh, so not good. We went for slices, walked in and saw the slices in the case.. the cheese was a layer of rubber and the crust an undercooked pale yellow. Pretty similar to how pictures look online. I'm looking for nice browning on the crust and brown spots on an oily/gooey/stringy mess of cheese swirling around tomato sauce. So we knew the pizza wasn't for us and went with calzone instead. When they arrived, they were pale yellow and undercooked, like the pizzas. No taste to the dough and a dry texture. They were stuffed with ridiculous amounts of cheese and really poor quality meats. The accompanying marinara had a strong taste of tomato paste/ketchup. Went down like cement. Clean restaurant. Super friendly service!! Sorry we didn't like it. Try aging your dough?
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Slices! You don't see slices anymore. Love this place. The pizza is good - even my friend from NYC says so - although, I'm tired of east coast people turning their nose up at what I consider to be good pizza. I mean, come on, Pag's is good. Or at least, I like it, so keep your snooty opinions to yourself. Love it or leave it! Just kidding.
google avatar

Pressley R.

Yelp
Nine Pies is amazing. The cheese slices are delicious and they have the best Ranch Dressing I have ever eaten! The service from Oscar is top notch. He is always friendly and courteous.

Michele D.

Yelp
Kudos to Nine Pies Pizzeria for the order I had delivered to my co-workers today. Not only was the service on the phone outstanding, but they even made an ordering exception for me. I was so impressed with their kindness, and the pizza was LOVED by all my colleagues! What a fabulous restaurant!

Yelp
Shouts to Nine Pies! During the Yelp Elite event taking place at San Juan Seltzery, there were some light eats as many may expect. If you don't, many events don't provide food. Usually, appetizer levels of food so it's good to eat before or after the event or perhaps there is food but only for purchase beyond what the event provides. The event holder did have some but understandably it wasn't quite enough considering the turnout. Nine Pies was nearby, and a fellow Yelper decided she was gonna get a pie. Here's where the shout out comes, A staff member, presumably the manager at Nine pies saw what was going on and gave this Yelper an additional free pie! The message following this. He asked, 'Write me a review on Yelp'. That's a deal to me! and Not a bad way to promote your pizza either. This Yelper generously shared the pies with us hungry yelpers at the event (If you're reading this please reach out to me!) and they were really pretty good actually? There was a what looked like a jalepeno-pepperoni pie and then just a plain pie. I opted for just a plain slice and, really it was good. I found It not to be too runny or cheesy. The pie was sort of a thin crust style so eating the entire slice was no problem without being too heavy. Best part? The sauce. It was kinda sweet, haven't really had a pizza with a sauce like that and I wish I could have had another, but I wanted to share what was being shared. So, with that said I'd like to try more pizza from Nine Pies now! There are a few wineries/tasting rooms in the immediate area, so perhaps Nine Pies and wine is the idea. Again shout outs to you Nine Pies! Thanks for letting us sample your pizza. I think a Yelp event at your place is in order!

Yelp
Food, Service and ambiance are all great! There's 2 gentlemen who are usually working the front counter who are truly excellent and professional! Really like this place and try to go for lunch once a week
google avatar

Rob R.

Yelp
Great service! Great food. Great ambiance! Everything feels like family here. These guys always make this a great experience for me and my family. I couldn't help but notice while using the restroom how hot it was in the restaurant. These guys need an air conditioned workplace.
google avatar

Doug J.

Yelp
Great pizza, great service! The pizza crust was amazing. Solid New York style pizza. Definitely worth stopping in.
google avatar

Dianne G.

Yelp
Incredible pizza and staff. Took away a star because they really should have air conditioning. The wineries have air so it's hard to come out of one of them to sit in the heat to eat great pizza.
google avatar

Dylan H.

Yelp
Amazing food the people and atmosphere is unmatched and the quality of the food is amazing
google avatar

Carolyn P.

Yelp
Nine Pies makes really good pizza and relatively quick. I love that you can grab a pizza to go and take it to many of the wineries in the SoDo area to relax and enjoy on patios with a bottle of wine with friends. Also love the perk that they will "delivery" so to speak to the winery that you're hanging at. Such an awesome option in the area.

Em A.

Yelp
Great pizza. Great service. Great vibes. I work close by and gave them a shot and I was so impressed by the quality of the food. Also our server Oscar was just fantastic. Had a great time chatting with him, he was thoughtful and hilarious. I recommend you check this place out!

Stacy J.

Yelp
Finally!! I have found great NY pizza in Seattle. I had to grab a last minute meal for my son on a Tuesday night. I walked in 8 minutes before closing and they said "sure, we can still make you a pizza". It was so good. Perfect NY crust. The toppings were also great, super fresh. We will be back!!
google avatar

Roxanne R.

Yelp
Nine pies is deserving of nine stars but I can only give 5. Pizza. Yes the pizza is the thing you come for and the thing you look forward to the most. Something is really special about this homemade crust, the sauce, the cheese. It's all perfect. We had the large half cheese half pepperoni. Order a side of ranch! It's made from scratch and delightful!! They have some great appetizers although the pizza is pretty filling so just make sure you are ready for take out boxes. Nice beer and wine selection too. Service is friendly and good and lots of free parking in a warehouse style building. Highly recommend nine pies for all of your pizza desires.
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
One of the absolute best gluten free pizzas in Seattle albeit pretty pricy. The crust is flavorful and not the basic cracker crust. Quality toppings (though I do wish the sausage was little balls and not crumbles). The only downside is that a 12 inch pie with 3 to 4 toppings is about $30. You get about two servings out of it but it still feels pretty pricey for pizza. Great treat for every once in a while and it's definitely one of the best options for those that cannot eat gluten in the city.
google avatar

Nolan R.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Very family friendly and relaxing. Amazing service and very attentive staff. 10/10 would highly recommend!

Joe W.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Ocean is a fantastic host. Spent time talking with us and getting to know each other. Food was perfect. One of the best pizza I have had anywhere. Paired with the local wines and you have a winner. Given the nice weather we were able to sit outside really enhancing the dinning experience. If you are looking for outstanding unique pizza this is it. Sorry Ocean, hope I don't ruin your secret.

M W.

Yelp
Theirs is a thin crust pizza - the cheese and crust are similar to Papa Gino's back east ... which despite being a chain serves a great pizza. It's all about a cheese that has sharp and smooth flavors. I ordered extra cheese but it looked like a normal amount of cheese (which is a thin pizza). So thumbs up on the pizza. Their meatballs however I had trouble believing house made. A house or homemade meatball is tender, fluffy, round, with discernible bread meat garlic cheese and herbs. It is the color of the meat and sauce. The meatballs in the submarine roll were grey and loaf-like sliced up....way processed looking and tasting so that was disappointing. But most pizza places serve the bag meatballs so I guess if you like those The caesar salad was great.
google avatar

Julian G.

Yelp
Let's be real. You're in the area for the wine. But listen... the pizza here is dang good. Pro tip - Make sure you ask for it well done if you like your pies crispy.

Yelp
I went to Nine Pies after a day of beer drinking in Georgetown. Ordered a couple different pizzas and had a salad. Everything tasted good but my socks weren't blown off which is why I'm giving them a 4/5.
