I first learned about Ninja Food Tours during the pandemic, when they even hosted live streaming experiences on Amazon Explore by Amazon in the US, from Tsukiji Market to Sensoji and Japanese knife shopping. That program no longer exists, but it showed how passionate, innovative, and well-structured this company is.
While planning another Japan trip this winter, I remembered them and finally decided to write a review for my Izakaya Food Tour in Shinjuku (sorry for the tardy review, better late than never!).
It was an excellent tour with a thoughtful route, friendly and knowledgeable guide, clear English communication, and local izakaya spots that are hard to access for visitors unfamiliar with Japanese menus.
- Pros: well-structured and professional organization, smooth pacing, delicious food, and a genuine local vibe.
- Cons: I sometimes wished for bigger/more portions at each stop because everything was great, but since you visit several places, you’ll end up full anyway, so no real complaint.
I usually don’t join guided tours, but if I do, I’d choose one like Ninja Food Tours: trustworthy, passionate, and exceptionally well-run.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic, guided food adventure in Tokyo. :)
