Japanese Chain Ninja Preps for Two Summer Debuts in Dallas - Eater Dallas

"Ninja Kitchen will debut first at 150 East Broad Street, Suite 130 in Mansfield, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 14. Ninja Kitchen — a new brand for the budding restaurant group — bills itself as a Japanese-Asian fusion eatery but plans to lean more heavily on Japanese selections. Expect a “soft” opening period to kick off at the start of June." - Tierney Plumb

Stopped by about an hour before closing. I was the only customer for a bit. The hostess/waitress was friendly and took my order quickly. I went with edamame to start, a gyu don (beef rice bowl), and an Asahi beer. The beer came with a mug, but unfortunately, the mug was room temperature. If you’re going to serve beer with a mug, it should at least be chilled or frosted. The beer itself was cold, but the experience fell flat—though of course, I still finished it. No beer left behind. The edamame was overcooked and unsalted. Not much else to say there. As for the gyu don, it was just okay. The meat portion was a bit scarce, and something about it felt off—hard to put my finger on. I’ll chalk this up to the timing and give the place another shot next time I’m in the area. I understand the restaurant business is tough, and there are plenty of places to spend a dollar. Hopefully next visit is better—happy to update my rating then

Dined in on a Friday evening. Very calm and peaceful vibes. Our server was just excellent and the food was so satisfying. Definitely coming back for more.

I use to love this place, but man it was horrible. The server was rude the entire visit. She was annoyed that I was dinning in and not picking up an order. Then rude cause I asked to look over the menu. Ordered a large sake and temptation roll. Sake was cold, she didn’t care, the roll was even more disappointing. The rice was stale and old, roll had no flavor. I would normally still eat and drink my food but it was that bad. Asked for my check after only being there for 9 minutes and she still was bothered by my presence at the table. Biggest waste of $30.00 in my life.

Google
Nigiri: servings are huge but my rice kept falling apart. The fish quality was okay but It is actually decent for the price (5 for $9.99). You can’t mix and choose. Has to be the same fish. Edamame and gyozas were good. Friend didn’t like her ramen broth as much. But I would def come back and give this place another try! Loved the peach oolong tea.

I walked in only to wait 5 minutes whilst being ignored. At first I would have let it go then I noticed in the kitchen the head chef was very unhygienic. Scratching his ears and pulling on his hair, then proceeded to just put gloved on.. I asked quietly if he wouldn't mind washing his hands before making my food. The host decided to then side eye me the entire time which made me not only feel uneasy but unwelcome. I will be sure to never come to this location as they are not only disgusting but extremely rude. Now after mentioning they have been trying to talk amongst themselves to belittle me as If I could not hear them. Do not come to this location as it is a very bad representation of the company which generally has good service and food.

May 2024 Had lunch on a Saturday and we ordered Shumai, Kids Katsu Don, Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box, and Spicy Pork Bento Box. My son gave the kids meal 10/10. We enjoyed our food and the waitress was great. The food did take a little while to come out overall. Oct. 2023 We ordered takeout and got Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box, Yaki Udon Beef, Yakisoba Chicken, and Lion King Roll. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived at our destination about 30 minutes later, the food was cold. But, the food still tasted good. We need to visit and dine in another time.

Google
I’ve been here since they opened. The staff are kind. I usually always get the custom poke bowl! It’s a good deal to me. Their bento boxes are all great. I love love love their tonkatsu ramen and this other spicy rice dish (I forgot the name)

I’ve eaten at this place for quite a few years now. It’s usually a wonderful experience, except for tonight. There’s a worker there I’ve never seen before, but I see in other reviews that she’s worked there for some time. She was extremely rude to us the entire time we were there. When she greeted us, it was very cold and she rolled her eyes when we asked to dine in. For context, we came in 20 minutes before close, because my boyfriend thought they closed later. We try to avoid arriving so near to close at restaurants, but by the time we realized our mistake, we were already seated and she was about to take our order. Every response from her was curt, and she slammed our plates to our table. She picked up our plates without asking if we had finished yet. She came up to us to ask if we wanted a to-go box with a huge attitude, arms crossed, clearly upset we were still there. We were rushing our eating, and we ended up leaving at 9:40, 10 min after close. We heard her slamming dishes around in the kitchen and murmuring. While I couldn’t hear most of what she said to herself, I definitely did catch some angry cursing. This was my first bad experience here, and it’s disappointing. If the owner or a manager of this establishment reads this, please know: this employee will discourage me from choosing Ninja Kitchen when I am in Mansfield. She’s the short girl with glasses. Again, I’ve seen other negative reviews about her. On the other hand, the food is always spectacular here. The ramen is great, and my favorite is the chicken karaage bento box.

Yelp
The Jenna staff member is very nice. I wish her female boss was chill tho. The new menu with soft shell crab and fried squid legs are my favorite appetizers. I will come back again to try other items. Edit: nevermind she chill

Yelp
I give this restaurant 3/5 stars because the staff was very helpful and kind! They checked on the table enough and made sure we always had what we needed. They have decent amount of tables and even a little kid play area which would be super nice for parents! Unfortunately, I think their food was below average. Their ramen broth was pretty flavorless (at least the one I ordered) and isn't as good as some other places I've been to. The Takoyaki came out crispy but the octopus was lacking and a little tough. Those are the only two items I tried on their menu so maybe they have some other good stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and was craving ramen. Staff were friendly and service was quick. The ramen was flavorful and they gave you a decent amount. The restaurant had a little area where kids can play and I thought that was really nice. It even had a baby gate. Would love to try again but I'd probably get the same thing

Yelp
Glad to say the food quality and menu here has improved greatly since my last visit. The gyoza was great and fresh today and tastes more authentic. The katsu ramen and spicy tonkotsu were also pretty good today - I recommend adding an extra egg and fish cakes. I look forward to trying their curry next time.

Tony K.

Yelp
Save your money and pass on any sushi here. The pho was average but sushi was very sub par.

Olivia C.

Yelp
Dylan was the best server! He took our whole order by memory (we ordered a lot) he knew the menu by heart. Since he was originally a chef but was filling in as a server for the day this was the first time I've seen him on the floor. So attentive made sure we weren't missing anything, so polite. His service certainly made the food taste even better. If he's ever serving tables again I hope we get lucky enough to gain his service next time we come in!

Yelp
Love it very much!!! Everything tasted excellent and servers were great!! Sushi was nice and refreshing:)

Chip H.

Yelp
Amazing fresh. Very nice service. Focused on my order. No downside. Just try and enjoy. Tuna tower was just lovely. The miso was delicious. Give it a chance it will make you dance

Bryan D.

Yelp
I feel ripped off. We got sushi, ramen, and a bento box with teriyaki chicken. The sushi was gross. And, the spring rolls were burned. Each dish came out at different times. My sushi did not arrive until everyone at our table was done. But it was not edible anyway. Also, it seemed obvious that they were prioritizing to-go orders, which affected the completion of our order. Maybe they should close their dining room, if they are not going to serve diners at the restaurant. It was a totally lame experience. We will not be back.

Emily M.

Yelp
Me and my mom's favorite place! The sweetest server as well, we love her! The food always comes out amazing and it's a staple for us!
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad for sushi selection, but not very many options for people who don't really eat sushi. The chocolate fountain is a nice touch, I will say if the choice of chocolate is pleasing to younger children it's good! A better quality chocolate would pair extremely well. The food buffet was eh- we came around 5-6 PM and the food wasn't fresh. We did get to have some fresh shrimp tempura and fried rice, which both of them were yummy. If you want high quality sushi, you won't find it here. Still some good basic sushi options though!

Yelp
Came in last night for the first time after having it on my list for ages... you could tell they had just been slammed. The service was very friendly and accommodating to our daughter's allergies. I got the shrimp wonton ramen with mushrooms and it was delicious. So perfect for a cold, foggy evening. H got the fried rice and the texture was perfect, very peppery- which we love. DD got custom sushi roll and we are already back today for more. Very excited to have finally tried this place. Worth the drive for us to all have something we really enjoy and nice service as well.

Yelp
Very nice lunch/dinner yesterday at Ninja Kitchen. Smallish place, with little to call "ambiance", but good solid food at a fair price and great service. Restaurant is designed to facilitate cleaning as well ... and was clean too! Family enjoyed the custom poke bowl, a couple of different chicken ramen bowls, calamari-on-a-stick, gyoza, edamame and one entree which was a shrimp and noodle dish. Everyone enjoyed the food and the friendly server took very good care of us, making some great suggestions, pre-bussing, answering questions and getting refills on beverages. Food was prepared correctly, was very tasty, hot/cold as appropriate, made from quality ingredients and was presented well. We shall be back. Even though it is ~ 10 miles from us, due to the zig-zaging to get there, it seems much further. Would love to see one of these in Midlothian.

Yelp
Julie and khang were AMAZING servers! When you walk in, expect to be greeted by friendly servers and directed to a table with the menu taped on it. You look over the menu and you order at the table at the front and then the server seats you to ensure menus aren't changing hands. We got excellent service even though they were busy! This is SOME OF THE BEST RAMEN I've had!!! The Food was perfect! SO much seafood and perfect broth! The spicy ramen brings the heat!! This is my new lunch spot!

Yelp
Racism is real... It seems as though this place does not want the business. The sign posted on the store says Monday through Thursday 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM. As soon as I walked through the door I was told that they were closed. I arrived exactly at 9:08, and I was the only customer in the entire restaurant. It's completely unacceptable and quite convenient that as soon as a black guy walks through the door he's turned away. I've been to this same restaurant many times before when a different management team was managing this location and I've never had a problem even up till closing time. I will never spend my money at this Ninja kitchen ( Board St, Mansfield Tx) again.

Yelp
It is very nice that little by little we get new restaurant options in Mansfield where you don't have to get in line to order and to get your food. I'm happy that the owners didn't go for the cafeteria style restaurant. The service is very fast and friendly, they are still learning the ropes but nothing that won't be solved very soon. I only had the tuna tataki and a poke bowl. The tuna tataki was bad, very rubbery; but the poke bowl was very good. They still don't have the license to sell alcohol, but in the meantime they are BYOB...not a bad thing. I'll update this review in a couple of months.

Yelp
No more wondering, "Where should we go tonight?" and getting shot down because ramen is too far, sushi is too expensive, everyone wants something different, or whatever is causing your group disagreement: Ninja Kitchen is here!! It's basically Ninja Ramen #2 in terms of menu offerings, prices, and food quality. We were SO excited about the arrival of fusion flavors to our chainy neighborhood that we ventured out there for dinner on Opening Weekend. Of course it was nuts--long lines, long wait, unavailable items, and technical difficulties with their machines--but it was totally worth it! Garlic Miso was a favorite for all of us and a safe bet for first-timers. I enjoyed the seafood ramen here more than at Ninja Ramen, in all its sea-salty glory. And while DD's chicken and rice bowl was big and crispy, the egg was flaky with char at the bottom and the yolk was solidly cooked through (which none of us like). Hopefully next time we come in, most of their kinks will be worked out and they'll get some sort of covering for the high windows. In the meantime, bring sunglasses and Enjoy!

Yelp
wow woww WOWW !! so i wanted to try this place when it first opened but got swayed by the reviews and decided to eat at Ninja sushi or ninja ramen in arlington. we decided to finally give this place a chance bc it's been a while and so glad we did! the interior is pretty cute and clean. it made me a little sad that it wasn't busy bc their food is actually good! we ordered their spicy ramen w chashu (pork broth forgot the name) poke bowl and katsu buns the noodles weren't over cooked and had that perfect texture and chashu was soft and not hard the poke bowl was good but i did wish the rice was softer. but the salmon was SO GOOOD. FRESH. AND i've been torturing myself by eating Hmart sashimi and AYCE sushi and the quality is v different from restaurant sushi lol our server was sooooo nice and his smile was super contagious. we'd def come back
google avatar

Corey R.

Yelp
We stopped in here for lunch today. They have been open a few weeks and they have worked out some of their kinks now. The food arrived a little slowly but seems to be much improved compared to what people were reporting a few weeks ago. This place may not work for some of the Mansfield locals that don't want to eat at anything but buffet and fried chicken. However, if you're not one of those types, you should try it out because it's better to have food prepared fresh than sitting on a buffet. We started with A5 which is a form of potsticker (although I think it's called something else on the menu). They were warm and tasty. We then had a Philadelphia roll. We didn't love this one because the rice was warm on the roll which heated everything up. We asked them about it and it was because they used fresh rice from the morning. I think they'll have to find a way to store their rice so it's not hot when it's rolled. Like others mentioned, the roll wasn't rolled super tightly so you may have issues with it staying together. Finally, I had the Fruit Ninja which is a nice take on a Poke Bowl with just a little bit of heat. The tuna and other fish in it were good and I found it quite refreshing. They plan on having beer and wine but apparently they don't have the necessary licenses yet. They also have a few items on the menu that were Thai but those were marked as "coming soon". Give this place a try, but if you are looking for a buffet, this is not it.

Yelp
Always great food. Service is usually pretty good! My 9 year old loves it and is always high on her recommended dinner list. Prices are reasonable, not too high, not a bargain.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Love it here! My new go to ramen spot. The bento boxes and fabulous too! Very friendly staff . I really hope this location stay open. We will be regulars!

An N.

Yelp
They were really nice and the person that served us was kind and friendly he did not mind us asking questions and the king kastu made you feel like a king and it was massive took two people to finish it
google avatar

Yelp
My go to place for ramen or poke in Mansfield. They have lots of great side dishes, I'm a fan of the gyoza, chasu buns, and the Furikake Fries. Love the staff, they always have a smile on.
google avatar

Yelp
When ninja kitchen first opened, it was really really good. But it has deteriorated... Covid did not help it. Last time I went with my friend we decided that would be the last time, we had been there numerous times before. And noticed it wasn't getting better. But the fried chicken appetizer was hard like a rock, the miso soup was barely warm, and had almost nothing in it. And the sushi itself tasted slightly off. I really hope that they will revamp and come back the way they were before. I missed them... The old them
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
Food is okay. This was a very convenient location from the Springhill Suites Mansfield by Marriott hotel. Teriyaki bento is okay. Sushi and sushi rolls were NOT worth it. My son commented that he thought meat was cheaper in Texas but not in this case. We hardly got any chicken in the Chicken Teriyaki bento. Service was speedy and attentive. They had hand sanitizer available for clients. Staff were wearing masks. Place is pretty clean. Might come back due to convenience but will try other restaurants near by.

Patrick S.

Yelp
My family ate there twice in the last few weeks and find their food to be outstanding. I love spice in my food and when I ask for it extremely spicy, they know how! My wife and daughter absolutely love their egg drop soup, and I favor the hot and sour soup. Last week we were there mid-afternoon and the restaurant was busy, even though lunch hour had passed. I predict they're going to need a bigger restaurant very soon!

Jasdeep K.

Yelp
Ordered from here on Uber, small portions with no flavor. I purchased four rolls of sushi and only one of them felt edible.

Jye Daesha C.

Yelp
Food is so good , fulfilling , worth the money. Service is usually very speedy , kind and willing to explain any menu items or make suggestions. Very dim , and cozy !
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Wish I'd taken a pic BEFORE I ate the ramen, but it was SUPER good! Great service. Awesome ramen. No complaints! Will return!
google avatar

Doug D.

Yelp
Took my daughter here cause she was wanted sushi. We started off with the loaded fries, which were absolutely amazing, I'd go just for them. We ordered the sushi lunch special, which was like 3 sushi rolls for 14 dollars and we ordered the fried chicken soup. The fried chicken soup was absolutely amazing, randomly some of the best chicken I've ever had. The lion king sushi was really good, especially for the price, I liked the other 2. Service was really good too. I'd absolutely go back.
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
We did take out. Was just was the dr. Ordered. Tasted fantastic. Was so well packaged. Great presentation. I got the Spicy Tonkotsu, the wife got Hokkaido Spicy Miso. Seriously I am a Tonkotsu Fanatic, but the Hokkaido was so much better! Going to be my new go to take out place and going to go with the Hokkaido. Could not stop sampling the wife's. It was so hearty, sweet and the right amount of spice.
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
This review is based on my first time being here at this location and I ordered to go. I appreciate that the to-go order for my ramen was packed carefully ( doubled!) so that it doesn't spill when I drive to my destination to eat my food. The broth and noodles are packaged separately. I had the Regular Tonkotsu Ramen and subed it with Udon noodles instead of the straight noodles that it usually comes with. I've had this at their other location in Arlington. The broth here was okay (too much pepper) and the chasu meat wasn't that great. It didn't have that char flavor that it does at the other location so it didn't have a really good flavor. Chau just tasted like it was boiled..It wasn't horrible, but luckily I've had tonkotsu somewhere else, otherwise I probably wouldn't want to order it again. Geso Karrage, really good. kripsy. Was not too under or over cooked. I enjoyed it. Def would order it again. Comes with spicy mayo dipping sauce.
google avatar

Anavi C.

Yelp
This was terrible! My friends and I were excited for Ramen. One of them had never had it before and the other has only had it one time in her life. We got there and the server seated us quickly. We got some fries with spicy mayo and they were seasoned and tasty. However when our ramen came out-- it was gross! There was no depth of flavor. We all added salt and everybody who has ever had Ramen knows salt is never a lacking component. We couldn't even finish our bowls. My friend got the chicken Karange ramen and she said the chicken tasted old and hard. She eats ANYTHING because she hates wasting. I've seen her power through things she doesn't like, but she couldn't get past it. Then what made it even worse is 3 different servers "checked" on us every 1-2 minutes! We would be in the middle of a conversation and it was very frustrating. I get being nice and good customer service, but that was extremely frustrating. I would have preferred terrible service because they over checking was the worsttttt. Then the actual worst part was when we were asking for our check, we realized none of our bowls had a ramen egg! I mentioned it and the server just said "sorry." He didn't offer us an egg or anything!! DO NOT go here for ramen... it's not even OK ramen-- it's the worst ramen ever. I'd prefer the instant ramen noodle packs
google avatar

Ricardo W.

Yelp
One of the best Spring Egg Roll I've had. Crispy and slender and delicate. I had the U2. Curry Udon and it was tasty. The beef was tender and well-flavored. I ate all of it and will be back for more. Nice spacious neat and clean with delicious food. I give Ninja Kitchen 5 Stars.
google avatar

Karlyn K.

Yelp
Decided to give them a try for a late lunch. The menu variety was pretty super yummy. Loved the photos on their menu. We tried a lot of different options for ramen and even a rice bowl. The ramen was flavorful and the seafood option had lots of types - shrimp, muscles and calamari. We'll be back again.
google avatar

Liz T.

Yelp
The sushi at this spot tastes like something you'd get from a gas station. Don't bother. The ramen is okay but not good enough to want it again. 3 stars for great service from the waitstaff, cleanliness of the space and the fact it was nearly empty so I was able to enjoy some down time after a busy work day. No stars for the food.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
Came to Mansfield's grand opening and it was chaotic! Everyone in town wanted to try this place. There was a long line. But despite being super busy, the staff and service was remarkable. They apologized for the wait and comped our meal. The food was worth the wait! Huge portions. We had to get three to-go plates. I'd recommend adding the fried chicken to any ramen bowl. Will definitely come back here.

Luke F.

Yelp
As you step into the atmosphere, a captivating ambiance unfolds, gradually transforming into a truly remarkable dining experience.
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
We order here quite a bit and have had many things and they are always good. My wife's go to is the Ninja Lovers Poke bowl and I get the Pad Thai or the Red Curry. The appetizers are good also. We call in the order and pick it up in 15-20 minutes. The staff is nice and friendly. The place is always clean and with Covid regulations they are only doing pickup for now.
google avatar

Sami B.

Yelp
A little scared to finish my meal. Ordered delivery through UberEats and my first set of chopsticks had.. ash? Sawdust? I have no idea. Gross. The second set had a small amount on the back end but not enough to make me throw them out. I was excited for the Shrimp Tempura Roll until halfway into it I notice a piece of plastic hanging out on the side. Not to mention the pieces that I had were pretty flavorless. Haven't gotten a chance to try the Spicy/Regular California rolls yet, but I will be thoroughly inspecting them when I get home. Mediocre for an evening sushi craving, I wouldn't order from here.
google avatar

Steven W.

Yelp
I like the food from here. But they are driving me nuts with only to go orders. I'm perfectly able to cook for myself. I like sitting down and being served and cleaned up after. If I don't get full service why am I paying full price?
google avatar

Andrew Z.

Yelp
Great service and even better food. Service is fast and price is reasonable. We had seafood ramen and broth is rich and thick. Appetizer is freshly prepared and served.
google avatar

Carl C.

Yelp
The food is ok. The staff is friendly. The bathrooms are very, very dirty. We've been here twice and I probably won't be back based on this second experience. They changed the menu since last month and the two things we liked about it- the curry for me and the sushi for my wife- are no longer an option. There are other options in the area for this genre and we will be checking them out.
google avatar

Anthony H.

Yelp
Good not great. Would eat it again I. A pinch. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Curry was good but they had a type of onion in it that I've never had. Kinda detracted from the flavor. Still a good value .

Kenedi W.

Yelp
Very very yummy, ordered for delivery the first time trying it and it was great second time having it was about 3 days later and ate inside the restaurant tried something new and was fantastic!!! My new favorite ramen place 5

Yelp
WORST VALENTINES DAY EVER!! Wasted 1 hour 32 minutes!!!! We should have stuck with chick fil a. NO customer service!!! NO Apology Peng was not a good manager on staff!!! Waited 20 minutes to get our order taken. After we asked can we order. Then here's the kicker. Two other parties came in and there damn food were given before ours. I asked the server where our food was as those people arrived way after we did. APPARENTLY they lost or don't know what happened to our order. I said well let us just pay for the hot tea.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Visited, not busy at the time, say down immediately, took over 20 minutes for a waitress to come get drink orders. 20 minutes later she took our order. Was literally about to walk out. I have been to Ninja sushi and Ninja Ramen and I believe these are related and the Ninja Kitchen was the one to bring things together. Ordered some ramen, thought it should be the same or better than Ninja Ramen. It wasn't. It was horrible to be polite. Ordered a couple sushi plates - same story. Maybe these companies are not related? Also had some traditional dishes, horrible. Food came all spaced out no one could wait for everything to get there trying to be polite. Meals literally coming 20 minutes apart. Bill was wrong too but had no desire to argue. It wasn't a dinner, it was an adventure. Anyhow, not an adventure I'm will to try again for a year or two, maybe they will work kinks out. I was excited, now not so happy.
google avatar

Ron M.

Yelp
Will not be back. Wife's food came out in 20 minutes. Appetizer arrived 10 minutes later. I waited another 10 minutes and still didn't have my meal, my wife was finished with hers. They said it would be another 10-15 minutes so I asked for them to forget about it. No option to make up for the issue. We just paid for what we ate and left.

Yelp
Great helpful & fast staff / management Super yummy and good prices. Definitely would go back
